LG set to launch first IPS Black 4K/240 Dual-mode monitor

LG is set to shake up the gaming monitor market with the UltraGear 27GP850A, the first IPS Black gaming display with a 4K resolution and a 240 Hz refresh rate.

IPS Black is pretty much an evolution over standard IPS, offering similar specs to the former technology but improving on one key aspect lacking from these screens: contrast. Instead of the typical1000:1 contrast ratio of most IPS displays, IPS Black panels have a contrast ratio of around 2000:1, which translates to deeper blacks.

According to information shared by Tweakers.net (via TFTCentral), another thing that sets the 27GP850A apart is its dual-mode capability. With a simple toggle, gamers can switch between the native 4K resolution at 240 Hz and instead opt for a faster 480 Hz refresh rate at a 1080p resolution. This versatility allows users to tailor their experience to different games and applications, whether they prioritise better visuals or responsiveness.

In addition, the 27GP850A offers a 1 ms G2G response time, a wide colour gamut covering 99% of the DCI-P3 colour space, and support for adaptive sync technology, ensuring smooth, tear-free gameplay with both Nvidia (G-Sync Compatible) and AMD graphics cards (FreeSync Premium Pro). The monitor also boasts a peak brightness of 600 nits, VESA DisplayHDR 600 certification, and a fully adjustable stand (tilt, swivel, pivot, and height adjustments). Connectivity options are plentiful, with a DisplayPort 2.1, 2x HDMI 2.1, 2x USB-A ports, and a headphone jack featuring DTS Headphone:X support.

The LG UltraGear 27GP850A is expected to launch in Europe in March with a price tag of €799. Information on pricing and availability in other regions will be announced later.

Montech is turning heads with its latest creation, the Heritage SFF cases. This stylish chassis blends premium materials and a unique suitcase-inspired design to deliver a genuinely luxurious-looking build.

Crafted from genuine leather and aluminium, the Heritage cases exude elegance and sophistication. Its triangle details and distinctive suitcase-style handle add a touch of class, making it a statement piece for any desk setup. Despite its compact size, it offers surprisingly spacious interiors, accommodating various components and cooling solutions. With support for up to a 360mm radiator at the top, mini-ITX and mATX motherboards, a 170mm air cooler, and up to eight fans, this SFF case can handle a variety of builds.

The Heritage features extended bars supporting the case, providing added stability while enhancing its modern aesthetic. For those seeking even more versatility, the Heritage Pro comes pre-installed with four GF120 fans and a removable handle connection point. This allows users to attach an optional accessory bracket for hanging headphones or other items.

The Montech Heritage series is now available. The standard Heritage (in black or white) costs $89.99, while the Heritage Pro (also in black or white) costs $109.99.
