Ubisoft has a lot riding on the release of Assassin's Creed Shadows later this month. Ahead of the March 20th launch day, the publisher has now announced details on pre-loading, as well as global unlock times for digital copies of the game across PC, PS5 and Xbox.
Following on from two delays, Assassin's Creed Shadows is due to launch on the 20th of March. While fans have been asking for an Assassin's Creed game set in Japan for decades, much of the discussion around the game pre-release has been negative. This launch day will tell us whether or not that was a vocal minority, or if fans are, by large, done with Ubisoft.
It wouldn't be unprecedented to see this game do incredibly well despite the negativity online. After all, there was also a lot of negativity surrounding Hogwarts Legacy prior to that game's launch, but ultimately, that game went on to be the best-selling game of the year.

Those who have pre-ordered Assassin's Creed Shadows can begin pre-loading on March 4th for Xbox, March 17th for PC and March 18th of PS5. The game will unlock early for those on Ubisoft Connect, with the game becoming available at 10PM GMT on March 19th, those buying the game on Steam will have to wait several hours longer, with the game set to unlock at 4AM GMT on March 20th. On consoles, the game will unlock at midnight local time.
Assassin's Creed Shadows releases on March 20th for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
KitGuru Says: I have a feeling that this game is going to review better than expected and ultimately do well enough to keep Ubisoft afloat for a bit longer.
