Wimbledon 2025: Raducanu beats Vondrousova, Fritz survives, Osaka through, Paolini exits – as it happened

As expected, the rain is not relenting yet. Play has been pushed back to 12.15, at the earliest. Though looking at the forecast there could be another couple of hours of drizzle before what’s forecast to be a clear mid-afternoon/evening.

Emma Raducanu stressed the importance of leaning on her support network at Wimbledon as she prepares for her challenging second-round match against Marketa Vondrousova, the 2023 champion.

Raducanu, who reached the second round on Monday with a solid 6-3, 6-3 win over the 17-year-old British wildcard Mimi Xu, reflected on the additional support she has received at the All England Club. “At Wimbledon, it’s particularly special. I had really good friends in the box there,” said Raducanu, before reeling off a list of names. “To have them all here in this one week, and the way the stars align that they could be here, it means so much when I see them there. It just makes me really happy.”

West Ham open to £60m Kudus offer from Tottenham to ease PSR pressure

  • Spurs keen on forward who has £85m release clause

  • Financial concerns mean Hammers may accept lower bid

West Ham’s need to rebuild their squad without breaching the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability regulations could lead them to sell Mohammed Kudus to Tottenham if their London rivals offer enough for the attacker.

Spurs have identified Kudus as a key target and there is a feeling that he will be available for less than his £85m release clause, which is applicable to Premier League sides for the first 10 days of July. There is no asking price but there is a sense that £60m could be enough to get a deal done.

Football transfer rumours: Arsenal join Premier League race for Hugo Ekitike?

Today’s fluff has the ice machine on

As always, every single football team in the country needs a brand new striker to take them from mediocre to champions. Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United have already taken a long look at Eintracht Frankfurt’s Hugo Ekitike, done the calculations and have not yet signed him. This casual messing about has allowed others to consider their position and Arsenal are now also interested in the Frenchman, who is worth an absolute shedload.

One reason Mikel Arteta may have turned his attention to him is the lack of movement in Arsenal’s pursuit of the Sporting striker Viktor Gyökeres. The Swedish international is keen to leave and he may just get his wish after a bit of complaining. The Sporting president, Frederico Varandas, has said the club are willing to accept a fee lower than his €100m (£85.6m) release clause.
