Imane Khelif must undergo what World Boxing describes as “mandatory sex testing” if she wishes to compete in any women’s event organised or sanctioned by the governing body.

Khelif won gold in the women’s 66kg category at last summer’s Olympic Games, having been cleared to compete despite being disqualified from the 2023 world championships organised by the International Boxing Association for allegedly failing to meet eligibility criteria.

Poirot suspended two weeks for Pollock altercation in Champions Cup final

Bordeaux-Bègles prop Jefferson Poirot has been suspended for two weeks following an altercation with Henry Pollock after Saturday’s Investec Champions Cup final.

Poirot was alleged to have grabbed the throat of the Northampton No 8 amid an on-pitch fracas in the moments after the final whistle of his side’s 28-20 win at the Principality Stadium.

Prosecuting man for burning Qur’an ‘reintroducing blasphemy law’, UK court told

Hamit Coskun, 50, held burning text outside Turkish consulate London, Westminster magistrates court heard

Prosecuting a man for burning the Qur’an is “tantamount to reintroducing a blasphemy law” in Great Britain, a trial has heard.

Hamit Coskun, 50, shouted “fuck Islam”, “Islam is religion of terrorism” and “Qur’an is burning” as he held aloft the burning Islamic text outside the Turkish consulate in London on 13 February, Westminster magistrates court heard.

Ons Jabeur hits out at lack of women’s matches in French Open primetime slots

  • ‘I don’t think they have daughters’

  • Night session matches have almost always involved men

Ons Jabeur has criticised Roland Garros for snubbing women’s tennis, saying “I don’t think they have daughters”. The French Open introduced night-session matches in 2021, but they have almost always been men’s singles matches. Last year, all 11 primetime matches featured men and the three this year have followed suit. Wednesday night’s match is the 12th seed, Holger Rune, against the world No 137, Emilio Nava.

Gilles Moretton, the president of the French Tennis Federation, caused controversy this week when he said the schedule is dictated by what will be “better for spectators”. Jabeur, a former Wimbledon runner-up said: “It’s sad we are still seeing this. In Europe, it’s unfortunate for women’s sports in general. Whoever is making the decision, I don’t think they have daughters, because I don’t think they want to treat their daughters like this.

McCall plays down talk of Owen Farrell leaving Racing to make Saracens return

  • Director of rugby said rumours ‘not worth answering’

  • Leicester prop Dan Cole to retire at end of season

The Saracens director of rugby, Mark McCall, has declined to comment on reports that the former club captain and England fly-half Owen Farrell is considering a Premiership return.

Farrell left Saracens at the end of last season after a 16-year stint with the Premiership club. He moved to Paris-based Racing 92, but it has proved a testing campaign for him in terms of injuries and Stuart Lancaster left as head coach in January.
