Arsenal are exploring a loan deal for Mathys Tel but face competition from Manchester United for the Bayern Munich forward.

Tel, who rejected a permanent move to Tottenham after they had agreed a £50m fee with Bayern last week, has expressed his desire to leave in this window having played only 252 minutes in the Bundesliga this season.

Tottenham sign centre-back Kevin Danso from Lens on initial loan deal

Tottenham have completed the signing of the Lens centre-back, Kevin Danso, on an initial loan with an obligation to buy for €25m (£20.9m) in the summer.

The Spurs manager, Ange Postecoglou, had said on Friday that the club might need to strengthen in central defence as they waited for an update on Radu Dragusin. The Romanian centre-back suffered what looked a worrying knee injury against Elfsborg in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Spurs close on Danso while Dortmund eye loan for Chelsea’s Chukwuemeka

  • Lens defender Danso was reportedly wanted by Wolves
  • Midfielder Chukwuemeka is out of Maresca’s plans

Tottenham are set to win the race to sign Lens centre-back Kevin Danso. The 26-year-old has attracted plenty of interest in the January transfer window and was reportedly close to joining Wolves.

However, with defender Radu Dragusin the latest Tottenham player to suffer an injury, it is understood the north London club have moved quickly to recruit Danso in a deal set to be worth €25m (£21m).

Marcus Rashford due for Aston Villa medical to seal Manchester United loan

  • Unai Emery also wants Asensio on loan from PSG
  • Villa discussing including option to buy Rashford

Aston Villa are close to agreeing a deal to take Marcus Rashford on loan for the rest of the season, with Unai Emery driving the move to sign the out-of-favour Manchester United forward.

Villa have been exploring the market in that position after the departure of Jhon Durán and are pushing to take Marco Asensio on loan from Paris Saint-Germain as well as Rashford. The club regard Rashford as a low-risk signing given they are unlikely to pay a fee. The England international is due to have a medical on Sunday.
