Luis Rubiales to go on trial in Spain over Jenni Hermoso kiss at World Cup

Spanish football federation’s former president is accused of sexual assault and coercion over incident in 2023

Spain’s former football chief Luis Rubiales will go on trial in Madrid on Monday over the unsolicited kiss he planted on the World Cup winner Jenni Hermoso, a gesture that stunned millions of TV viewers and unleashed a backlash against sexism in sport.

Rubiales, 47, is accused of sexual assault as well as coercion after allegations that he tried to force Hermoso, 34, into publicly declaring that the kiss, which occurred as she celebrated her team’s victory in the 2023 World Cup in Australia, was consensual.

David Benavidez dominates David Morrell to unify light heavyweight title

David Benavidez unified the light heavyweight championship by earning a unanimous decision over challenger David Morrell on Saturday night to keep his interim WBC belt and win the WBA title.

Judges Patricia Morse Jarman and Steve Weisfeld both scored the fight 115-111 while Tim Cheatham scored it 118-108.

Ravens’ Justin Tucker faces accusations from three more massage therapists

Three more massage therapists allege Baltimore Ravens kicker Justin Tucker engaged in inappropriate sexual behavior during massage sessions, the Baltimore Banner reported Saturday.

The allegations follow a report published by the Banner on Thursday in which six other women made similar accusations.

Medical jet crashes in Philadelphia, killing seven and setting homes on fire

All six people onboard and one person on the ground are dead, with 19 others injured, says Philadelphia mayor

Seven people were killed after a medical transport plane crashed into a north-east Philadelphia neighborhood on Friday.

All six people on the flight and one person on the ground are dead. Nineteen others were injured, the Philadelphia mayor, Cherelle Parker, said.

Trump orders USDA to take down websites referencing climate crisis

Forest service website among many sites affected as agencies scramble to comply with president’s orders

On Thursday, the Trump administration ordered the US agriculture department to to take down its websites documenting or referencing the climate crisis.

By Friday, the landing pages on the United States Forest Service website for key resources, research and adaptation tools – including those that provide vital context and vulnerability assessments for wildfires – had gone dark, leaving behind an error message or just a single line: “You are not authorized to access this page.”
