AU Deals: Level Up Your Library with Today's Most Wallet-Friendly Game Picks

Fair warning: There is something deeply dangerous about opening up my deal pages with a full wallet and an empty weekend. Every time I tell myself I am just browsing, my cart ends up looking like a collector's backlog starter pack. Today's list is especially spicy, stacked with cult classics, fresh hits and a few games that gave me late night obsessions I still regret nothing about. End warning.

This Day in Gaming 🎂

In retro news, I'm using a rolling Katamari that accidentally scooped up a campfire to light 16 candles on a cake for Katamari Forever, the PS3's wonderfully weird puzzler. At the time it felt like proof that video games didn't always need grit and guns to hook you in. Sometimes all you need is a booger sticky sphere and a bloody awesome soundtrack.

I remember firing this up and thinking it was basically a "best of" mixtape for the series, with old levels remixed, new cel-shaded flair, and the King of All Cosmos still being his gloriously unhinged self. The joy was still in the nonsense. One minute you're hoovering up erasers and pigeons, the next you're big enough to snatch skyscrapers. Timelessly entertaining stuff.

- Resident Evil 5 (PC) 2009. Get

Nice Savings for Nintendo Switch

On Switch, the Ori games are the obvious standouts. Ori and the Blind Forest was created by a distributed dev team working remotely across the globe long before that became the norm, and the result is one of the most heartfelt metroidvanias ever made. Meanwhile, Persona 5 Tactica adds a cheeky tactics spin to the series that still drips with Shoji Meguro's signature music.

  • Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 (-12%) - A$79 Two classic 3D Mario adventures bundled for Switch. Still worth it for fans of Galaxy's inventive platforming and gravity-defying levels. Nintendo magic never ages.
  • Hades (-75%) - A$9.30 Superb roguelike dungeon crawler with addictive combat and Greek mythology flair. A steal at this price, especially if you enjoy replayable action games with style.
  • Persona 5 Tactica (-71%) - A$27.80 Turn-based tactics spin-off from Atlus' beloved series. Vibrant visuals and quirky Persona flavour make this a fun detour from the usual RPG grind.
  • BioShock: The Col. (-61%) - A$35 Three groundbreaking narrative shooters in one package. Explore Rapture and Columbia at their atmospheric best. A great way to experience the full saga.
  • Ori and the Blind Forest: Def. (-75%) - A$7.40 Stunning hand-painted visuals and tight platforming. Ori’s first outing is equal parts emotional and challenging. A beautiful must-play indie.
  • Ori and the Will of the Wisps (-75%) - A$11.20 A refined sequel that builds on its predecessor with fluid movement and deeper combat. Gorgeous and heartfelt, one of the best metroidvanias around.

Exciting Bargains for Xbox

Series X has a monster set, but Hogwarts Legacy Del. remains impressive. Avalanche built it with such a love for the Wizarding World that even the toilet ghosts got in. Tiny Tina's Wonderlands, meanwhile, is a chaotic D&D parody where Andy Samberg and Wanda Sykes improvise their way through tabletop insanity.

  • Hogwarts Legacy: Del. Ed. (-80%) - A$23.90 Open-world wizarding adventure packed with spells and secrets. The deluxe extras add flair, though the main draw is exploring Hogwarts and beyond.
  • Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time (-43%) - A$57.20 A tough but rewarding platformer that respects the series' roots while innovating. Expect challenging levels and cheeky marsupial antics.
  • Tiny Tina's Wonderlands: Next-Level Ed. (-91%) - A$9.90 Borderlands-style looter shooter with a D&D fantasy twist. Over-the-top humour, chaotic combat, and lots of loot at a bargain.
  • Doom Eternal (-27%) - A$39.90 Rip and tear through hordes of demons in id’s frenetic shooter. Fast-paced, heavy metal action that rewards aggression.
  • EA Sports FC 24 (-88%) - A$12.90 Rebranded FIFA entry with the same addictive football gameplay. Huge roster of clubs and modes, great value for soccer fans.

Pure Scores for PlayStation

PS5 owners should not sleep on Dead Space, the lovingly rebuilt survival horror classic where Visceral originally hid Isaac Clarke's girlfriend's name in the first letter of every chapter. Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origin may be meme-worthy thanks to its Chaos obsession, but its combat system secretly outshines most modern action RPGs.

  • Star Wars Outlaws (-67%) - A$36 Open-world Star Wars adventure focusing on smugglers and scoundrels. A fresh angle on the galaxy far, far away.
  • Borderlands 4 (-17%) - A$99 Chaotic looter shooter returns with more mayhem, bigger guns, and over-the-top humour.
  • Dead Space (-78%) - A$24 Remake of the survival horror classic. Chilling atmosphere, grotesque necromorphs, and tense gameplay.
  • Stranger of Paradise FF Origin (-70%) - A$30.30 Dark, action-focused spin on Final Fantasy lore. A divisive oddity with brutal combat and meme-worthy dialogue.
  • One Piece Odyssey (-72%) - A$28 JRPG based on the legendary anime. Great for One Piece fans keen to explore a fresh island story with the Straw Hats.

PS4

  • Persona 5 Royal (-46%) - A$54.40 Expanded edition of the stylish JRPG. School life meets dungeon crawling with unmatched flair.
  • Red Dead Redemption (-53%) - A$34.90 Rockstar’s Western masterpiece finally on modern consoles. Slow-paced but immersive tale of loyalty and betrayal.
  • Far Cry 5 (-66%) - A$34.10 Open-world shooter set in rural America. Explosive action and cult takedowns in Ubisoft’s sandbox formula.

This Day in Gaming 🎂

In retro news, I'm asking the Human Torch to light 15 candles on a cake baked for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, the action-RPG brawler I adored playing in 4P co-op. This was a full-blown superhero buffet, letting you smash through enemies with a roster that felt like it had leapt right off the comic shop shelves with a Civil War storyline front and centre.

The fusion system was the big add here (pairing up heroes for devastating combo moves that were both flashy and strategic). Beyond that, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 didn't reinvent the wheel, but it gave fans the superhero team-up game we always wanted. Also, its bonus skin selections remain superior to the meh recolourings we got in 2019's MUA3.

Nice Savings for Nintendo Switch

On Switch, Tears of the Kingdom is still the gold standard for player creativity. I spent hours building functional mechs out of wood and Zonai parts, and then immediately crashed them into rivers. Meanwhile, Metroid Prime Remastered proves how ahead of its time Retro Studios was. Back in 2002, they actually taped a GameCube controller to a camera rig to test immersion.

  • Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (-23%) - A$69 A genre-defining open world adventure with sky islands and subterranean mysteries. Nintendo polished every corner of this sequel so hard it gleams.
  • Metroid Prime 4: Beyond (-12%) - A$79 Retro Studios finally continues Samus's saga with modern visuals and atmospheric exploration. If Prime Rem. whetted your appetite, this is the main course.
  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons (-27%) - A$58 Island life at its most chilled. Build, befriend, and sink hundreds of hours into customising your perfect escape. Timeless, endlessly replayable comfort gaming.
  • It Takes Two (-27%) - A$44 One of the best co-op experiences ever made. Switch offers portable chaos for Josef Fares's madcap mini-games and heartfelt story of a couple finding common ground.
  • Metroid Prime Rem. (-30%) - A$41.90 Samus’s GameCube classic shines with updated visuals and slick controls. It’s a masterclass in atmosphere and isolation, and a perfect refresher ahead of Prime 4.

Exciting Bargains for Xbox

Over on Series X, Resident Evil 4 is survival horror perfection. Fun fact: Leon's hair physics were so tricky that Capcom had to dedicate an entire internal memo to "strand discipline." Farming Simulator 25 also deserves mention, not only for its meditative gameplay but because the devs modelled actual tractor engines in a sound studio for authenticity.

  • Borderlands 4 (-17%) - A$99 Loot, shoot, and banter with a fresh cast and bigger planets. Gearbox isn’t reinventing the wheel, but fans will want to strap in for the chaos.
  • Resident Evil 4 (-46%) - A$32.50 Leon Kennedy’s European holiday from hell polished up into one of Capcom’s best remakes. Over-the-shoulder shooting perfected, tension unrelenting.
  • Farming Simulator 25 (-32%) - A$68 Harvest fields, raise livestock, and grow your agribusiness empire. Realistic tractors and mods galore make this more addictive than expected.
  • Undisputed (-47%) - A$44.90 Authentic boxing simulation with licensed fighters and tactical stamina-based bouts. Finally, the sweet science gets the video game it deserves.
  • Turtle Beach Stealth Pivot controller (-33%) - A$167.70 Premium wireless pad with haptic feedback and modular sticks. A pricey accessory, but built like a tank for competitive edge seekers.

Xbox One

  • NieR Replicant ver.1.22 (-60%) - A$35.90 Square Enix revisits Yoko Taro’s cult classic with prettier visuals and tighter combat. It’s melancholy, weird, and worth every cent.
  • Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (-50%) - A$49.90 FromSoftware’s shinobi action masterpiece rewards precision and patience. Brutally tough, but that first boss you topple is unforgettable.
  • Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Gal. Ed. (-80%) - A$22.90 The entire Star Wars saga rebuilt in charming brick form. Loads of ships, laughs, and content. Galactic indeed.

Pure Scores for PlayStation

PS5-wise, Dead Space is an all-timer for sci-fi horror. The zero-G sections alone felt revolutionary back in 2008. On the opposite side of tone, Spider-Man: Miles Morales is joy distilled into web-swinging. Insomniac actually sent animators to Harlem to nail its vibe.

  • Dead Space (-55%) - A$49 Isaac Clarke’s nightmare returns scarier and sharper than ever. Motive nails the atmosphere and terror, making this remake feel definitive.
  • The Last of Us Part I (-50%) - A$62.40 Naughty Dog’s modern retelling of Joel and Ellie’s first trek is visually jaw-dropping. If you missed it on PS3 or PS4, this is the one.
  • Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales (-50%) - A$47.40 Shorter than Peter’s adventure, but packed with flair and heart. Swinging through snowy Harlem never gets old.
  • Ghost of Tsushima Dir. (-34%) - A$62.70 Sucker Punch’s samurai epic expanded with Iki Island and Legends multiplayer. A stunning love letter to Kurosawa films.
  • Battlefield 6 (-19%) - A$89 EA’s modern shooter spectacle. Explosive battles, big maps, and squad tactics. Not groundbreaking, but reliable online chaos.

PS4

  • Sea of Stars (-34%) - A$34.90 Retro RPG vibes powered by modern design. Gorgeous pixel art, turn-based combat with timing mechanics, and a soundtrack to swoon over.
  • GTA Trilogy (-77%) - A$23 Three open-world crime classics in one package. Visual updates are hit-and-miss, but Liberty City, Vice City, and San Andreas remain essential.
  • Sniper Elite 4 (-90%) - A$9.90 Long-range kills in WW2 Italy never get old. Slow-mo X-ray shots of Nazis exploding are as gruesome and satisfying as ever.

PC players should grab Metaphor: ReFantazio, which brings together the Persona dream team. Its announcement caused Atlus's site to crash under fan traffic. And Streets of Rage 4 kept the beat-'em-up flame alive with hand-drawn art so detailed you can see enemies sweat.

  • Metaphor: ReFantazio (-50%) - A$57.40 Atlus channels Persona magic into a medieval fantasy RPG with surreal designs and slick combat. Expect deep systems and style galore.
  • Doom The Dark Ages (-37%) - A$75.50 Slayer trades Mars labs for medieval castles. Still fast, still brutal, but this time it’s demons in armour catching buckshot.
  • Humble "Phunky Physics" 9 Game Bndl (-92%) - A$21.90 Nine indie physics puzzlers in one dirt-cheap pack. Hours of brain-twisting experimentation for the price of a pub lunch.

This Day in Gaming 🎂

In retro news, I'm using Brighton the sun's blazing rays to light a 20-candle cake for Mario Party 6, the entry that brought voice control to the GameCube. Along with the bundled microphone that had us yelling at our TV like maniacs, noughties-era-me was also impressed with a dynamic day-night cycle that strategically transformed entire boards every three turns.

Twenty years later, I still remember the chaos of four people gathered around a single microphone, and honestly, that's the kind of couch co-op magic that defined the GameCube era. Just an absolute box of joy (with a convenient handle to boot).

Nice Savings for Nintendo Switch

On Switch, The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom is a newer spin that continues Nintendo’s tradition of layering innovative mechanics atop Hyrule. I’ve already sunk hours into its puzzly brilliance. Meanwhile, Sonic Frontiers shocked me by proving Sega can finally deliver an open zone world worth exploring. It’s a great example of fan feedback shaping a sequel into something memorable.

  • The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom (-25%) - A$59.90 An inventive twist on Hyrule's legend, this entry plays with perspective and puzzles in ways that keep the series fresh without losing its magic.
  • Super Mario RPG (-25%) - A$59.90 Square and Nintendo’s classic collab shines again. A playful blend of platforming and turn-based battles with a goofy cast that still charms decades later.
  • Sonic Frontiers (-40%) - A$59.60 Sonic goes open-world, sprinting across islands with speed, puzzles, and titanic bosses. A bold, divisive experiment, but one fans should try at this discount.
  • Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled (-34%) - A$46.30 Still the sharpest alternative to Mario Kart. Beautifully remade, with deep drifting mechanics and an outrageous lineup of characters to keep the chaos flowing.
  • Civilization VII (-24%) - A$68.00 Sid Meier’s long-running empire builder returns with refinements, new leaders, and endless late-night “one more turn” temptations.

Exciting Bargains for Xbox

On Xbox Series X, Cyberpunk 2077 is the textbook case of redemption. CD Projekt rebuilt Night City into the RPG we were promised, and its Phantom Liberty expansion earned Keanu Reeves another pop culture foothold. Also, Dead Island 2 has no right being this fun. Its gore tech is absurdly detailed, and I’ll admit I’ve lost time experimenting with zombie dismemberment.

  • 1TB Expansion Card (-30%) - A$215.60 Plug-and-play storage that matches Xbox velocity architecture. Pricey, but essential if you bounce between Game Pass monsters like Starfield and Call of Duty.
  • WWE 2K25 (-54%) - A$55.00 The squared circle gets flashier each year. A solid roster, career content, and creative tools make this worth grappling with at a heavy discount.
  • EA Sports FC 25 (-26%) - A$29.00 The artist formerly known as FIFA keeps evolving with better dribbling, presentation, and modes. For under thirty bucks, it’s a golden goal for football fans.
  • Dead Island 2 (-70%) - A$20.90 Sun-soaked zombie slicing across LA, packed with gore, humour, and drop-in co-op. A guilty pleasure at a fraction of launch price.
  • Cyberpunk 2077 (-65%) - A$31.40 CDPR’s redemption arc. With Phantom Liberty, patches, and next-gen polish, Night City is now the RPG paradise it always promised to be.

Xbox One

  • Dying Light 2 Del. (-42%) - A$69.00 Parkour, undead chaos, and branching storylines. Deluxe content sweetens the deal for those keen to survive the night.
  • Assassin's Creed Mirage (-70%) - A$23.80 A stripped-back AC returning to stealth roots in Baghdad. Sleek, short, and a steal for fans of old-school Assassin’s Creed.
  • Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (-60%) - A$27.90 Three platforming classics remade with gorgeous polish. Still brutally tricky, still satisfying when you nail those tricky jumps.

Pure Scores for PlayStation

PS5-wise, Ghost of Yotei is obviously dishing the big Tsushima vibes, which makes sense as it’s carrying on Sucker Punch’s love of stylish swordplay. And EA Sports WRC is the definitive rally sim now, especially since Codemasters inherited the license from Dirt Rally. Few games capture mud physics this well.

  • Split Fiction (-37%) - A$44.00 A stylish narrative adventure that toys with dual perspectives, weaving puzzles and emotional beats into its experimental structure.
  • Ghost of Yotei (-21%) - A$99.00 A gorgeous new samurai epic with breathtaking visuals, tight combat, and a moving tale. Pricey, but prestige experiences rarely come cheap.
  • Star Wars Outlaws (-67%) - A$36.00 Finally, a scoundrel-focused Star Wars tale. Explore planets, dodge the Empire, and live the outlaw fantasy at a massive markdown.
  • EA Sports WRC (-68%) - A$24.00 Dirt Rally devs take the official license for a hardcore sim that nails every muddy drift and hairpin.
  • Octopath Traveler (-60%) - A$36.30 Square Enix’s HD-2D darling, now on PS5. Turn-based storytelling with eight heroes, beautiful pixel art, and excellent music.

PS4

  • Batman: Arkham Col. (-59%) - A$34.90 Rocksteady’s trilogy of Batman greatness. Tight combat, iconic villains, and a moody Gotham to glide through.
  • Mega Man Battle NL Col. (-34%) - A$25.30 Nostalgic grid-based battling from the GBA era. A huge anthology of quirky digital duels.
  • Katamari Damacy Reroll (-75%) - A$11.20 Still delightfully weird. Roll up the world to rebuild stars, all to a funky soundtrack. A cult gem at a bargain.

Pair that with Outward Definitive, a cult-favourite RPG that dares you to survive without handholding, and you’ve got serious value on Steam.

  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows (-65%) - A$34.90 [Use code: AUTUMN ] AC finally heads to feudal Japan. Two protagonists, stealthy intrigue, and samurai drama deliver a dream setting for fans.
  • Pico Park (-100%) - A$0 Cooperative chaos where teamwork makes the dream work. Free is the perfect price for falling out with friends.
