Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has the last word in state matters, and he has repeatedly said Iran that cannot trust that the United States would honor its end of any bargain.
The officials plan to meet next week to discuss the first steps of an agreement, after President Trump cast doubt on U.S. support for Ukraine in recent days.
