Tilda Swinton will return to the stage for the first time in more than 30 years as part of the Royal Court’s 70th anniversary programme, in a reprisal of her 1988 one-woman performance in Manfred Karge’s Man to Man.

Swinton’s return to the role, in which she plays a widow who takes on the identity of her deceased husband, is one of two star turns in David Byrne’s third season as artistic director, which will also feature Gary Oldman in another revival: Samuel Beckett’s Krapp’s Last Tape, which was first performed in 1958.

An artist who claims he is a co-creator of two of the most famous images ever taken of the late queen is suing Chris Levine, the photographer who claims sole authorship of the portraits, in a high court dispute.

Rob Munday claims he is a co-author of two 2004 portraits of the queen that were created using holography technology, which involves the use of light projection and multiple cameras to render a 3D image.

His voice is one of the most distinctive in pop history and now the words Freddie Mercury sang are to be given the rock star treatment in a lyric book that will also include unreleased songs and alternative versions of Queen anthems.

A Life in Lyrics will feature abandoned verses for Bohemian Rhapsody and drafts of Don’t Stop Me Now. The material, taken from Mercury’s personal notebooks, has been released by Mary Austin, the singer’s former fiancee and closest friend.
