“Darren was the type of person [who] never got into no problems,” the victim's granmother said. “He never had a problem with nobody. He was just a beautiful person.”
The smugglers had “meticulously altered and hollowed out” the bales to create cramped compartments where they could cram people into and hide from the authorities, the sheriff said.
