The Best Deals Today: AirPods, Gaming Chairs, Witcher Gwent Deck, Power Bank, and More

Check out the best deals for Monday, February 10. You can save $10 off Anker's new and improved high-capacity power bank, or treat yourself to a premium gaming chair on sale during Secretlab's Presidents' Day Sale. If you're a fan of Witcher's famous card game series, the IGN Store has a tabletop Gwent deck up for preorder. Check out more of today's deals down below.

Apple AirPods Pro for $169

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Amazon is offering the 2nd generation Apple AirPods Pro wireless noise-canceling earbuds for only $169 shipped, a savings of 32% off and the best price so far this year. Although the new AirPods 4 earbuds are also discounted (the noise-canceling model is currently priced at $148.99), between the two, the AirPods Pro are still the best earbuds because of superior sound quality and noise cancelation.

New Release: Anker 25,000mAh 165W Power Bank

Anker quietly released a new high-capacity power bank earlier this year that sits alongside the Anker 737 and Prime series of power banks. This particular model boasts a massive 25,000mAh battery capacity, 165W of total charging output, and two built-in USB Type-C cables in case you forget to bring your own. It's also attractively priced at under $100, and there's even a deal today that drops the price by another $10 to $89.99. This is a great complement to your power-hungry gaming handheld PC like the Steam Deck, Asus ROG Ally, or Lenovo Legion Go.

Secretlab Presidents' Day Sale

Secretlab has already kicked off its Presidents' Day Sale, which starts now and runs until February 17. Save up to $139 off Secretlab's popular Titan line of gaming chairs, Magnus gaming desks (including the Magnus Pro electric standing desk model), and accessories like the Secretlab Skins upholstery covers, desk mats, cable management, and more. Unfortunately, new releases like the Titan Evo Nanogen chair and the recliner add-on are exempt from this sale.

Preorder the Gwent Card Game at the IGN Store

Here's your chance to preorder the tabletop version of Witcher's addictive card game. This is an officially licensed and CD Projekt Red backed edition consisting of over 400 playing cards faithfully reproducing the iconic designs from The Witcher 3. Preorders ship out sometime in August.

Lenovo Presidents' Day Sale

Lenovo has kicked off its Presidents' Day sale early with big price drops on two of its most popular Legion prebuilt gaming desktop computers. You will have to apply two stackable coupon codes: "EXTRAFIVE" and "BUYMORELENOVO", although the second one might automatically be added to your cart. If you're waiting for RTX 50-series GPUs to come back in stock, don't. The RTX 40-series GPUs easily meet current gaming needs at a more affordable price point, and they're readily in stock.

In our recent Legion Tower 7 review, Jacqueline Thomas wrote that "the Legion Tower 7i is an incredibly powerful gaming PC, especially for the money you’re likely going to be paying for it. If all you want is a powerful, upgradeable machine without having to go through the trouble of building it yourself, it’s hard to find many gaming PCs better than this one."

Seagate Expansion 20TB Desktop Hard Drive

If you're shopping for a huge amount of local storage, here's a deal that beats pretty much anything I saw during Black Friday. For a limited time, Best Buy is offering this massive Seagate Expansion 20TB USB 3.0 Desktop Hard Drive for only $229.99 shipped. That averages out to a mere $11.50 per TB of storage.

Buy One Get One 50% Off SteelSeries Gaming Peripherals

SteelSeries has kicked off an impressive Valentine's Day Sale with a rare promotion: buy one gaming headset, mouse, keyboard, or other gaming accessory and get a second item for 50% off with coupon "VALENTINE50". The second item will be of equal or lesser value and does not stack with instant discounts. All orders over $49 ship free. The Nova Pro is our favorite gaming headset, and we also recently picked the Apex Pro Gen 3 as the best gaming keyboard.

Note that in all of my examples, I added two of the same item to cart to activate the discount. However, you don't need to buy the same item. For instance, you could add the Arctis Nova Pro wireless headset and the Apex Pro keyboard and get 50% off the keyboard (since it's the lower priced item).

Apple AirPods 4 for Only $99.99

Amazon has discounted the newest generation Apple AirPods 4 earbuds by up to 25% off. The base model is currently down to $99.99 (originally $129). This is the first time we've seen the AirPods 4 earbuds drop below $100. In fact, that's a better deal than what we saw during Black Friday or Cyber Monday.

30% Off Panther Vision Hand Warmers and Lighted Beanies

If you're looking for a practical Valentine's Day gift idea, Panther Vision is offering a big 30% coupon code that works sitewide. If you suffer from cold appendages, the Panther Vision 602R rechargeable hand warmer is small enough to fit in your jacket pocket. It offers three different heat settings depending on how numb your fingers are, boasts an IP67 waterproof rating, and can even double up as a 5,000mAh USB Type-C power bank for emergencies.

Pair it with the Panther Vision lighted beanie, which will keep your noggin warm while lighting up the way with a built-in LED headlamp rated for up to 150 lumens at max output. If you prioritize longevity over intensity, the 15-lumen setting will last up to 10 hours on a single charge. There are plenty of other useful gadgets on the site, including portable lamps and flashlights, so you might want to stock up to reach the $60 free shipping threshold.

PDP Riffmaster Wireless Guitar Controller for $104

The Riffmaster wireless guitar controller sold out quickly when it first launched in 2024, but it's back and discounted today. This is one of very few widely available guitar controller peripherals that works with Rock Band 4 and Fortnite Festival.

Apple iPad 10.9" 10th Gen for $279

Ahead of Valentine's Day, Amazon has just dropped the price of the latest model 10th gen Apple iPad to $279 shipped. Currently all colors including Blue, Silver, Pink, and Yellow are discounted. Although this price is about $20 higher than what we saw during Black Friday, This is the best price we've seen so far this year for the 10th gen iPad.

Amazon Is Having a Buy Two, Get One 50% Off Sale on the Fourth Wing Books Today

The Empyrean series has had at least one book in Amazon's bestsellers list for years now. Just last year, Onyx Storm was the second best-selling book of the entire year and it didn't even come out until January of this year. And when it did come out, it became the fastest-selling novel for adults of the past 20 years. Now, you can pick up all three books in the series – Fourth Wing, Iron Flame, and Onyx Storm – in Amazon's buy two get one 50% off promotion.

The Empyrean Series Is Discounted at Amazon Today

The discounts and promotion only include the hardcover editions of each of these books, rather than the paperback or Kindle versions. It's also worth noting that the deluxe edition of Onyx Storm, which was actually hard to find when the book was first released back in January, is included in this sale.

To take advantage of Amazon's buy two, get one 50% off sale on these books, you just need to add them all to your cart at the same time. The discount will automatically be applied to the least expensive item, which in this case would be Fourth Wing. That means you can get all three hard cover books in the series for $45.75. All in all, this is a great price if you're trying to add the physical copies to your book collection or simply read them for the first time.

See more books in this sale

What Is the Empyrean Series About?

If you've never read Fourth Wing or any of the other books in the Empyrean series, you may be wondering why the Rebecca Yarros novels are currently experiencing a Hunger Games-level of popularity. In short, there are elements familiar to the Harry Potter books, romance similar to the Twilight series, and dragons similar to the Inheritance Cycle. Reading these books feels familiar, and yet somehow very new. Here's a quick synopsis of the series below:

The story follows Violet Sorrengail, a seemingly fragile young girl who has been forced by her powerful mother to enter into the very dangerous academy of dragon riders. As she finds ways to overcome her weaknesses and survive, Violet must also battle her own complex emotions about her mother, her old friend, and a boy she thinks wants nothing more than to see her dead. All the while, there's more going on with the dragons and her world than meets the eye, and she finds herself at the center of it all while in the heat of an epic romance.

Anker's Newest High-Capacity Power Bank Now Includes Two Built-In USB Type-C Cables

Anker quietly released a new high-capacity power bank earlier this year that sits alongside their Anker 737 and Prime series of power banks.

New Release: Anker 25,000mAh 165W Power Bank

The new Anker power bank features a 25,000mAh battery capacity, which is the second largest capacity we've seen from Anker in a compact form factor. So how much juice will that offer to today's gaming handheld PCs? A 25,000mAh battery equates to a 95Whr capacity. An 80% power efficiency rating (which is standard for power banks) means you get about 76Whr of usable charge. That means this power bank will charge a Steam Deck or ROG Ally (40Whr) from empty to completely full 2 times, an Asus ROG Ally X (80Whr) 1 time, and a Nintendo Switch (16Whr) about 4.75 times.

The Anker power bank has one USB Type-C port and one USB Type-A port. In addition, there are two built-in USB Type-C cables. One is a retractable cable that can extend up to 2.3 feet. The other is a fixed 1-foot cable that doubles up as a lanyard when not in use. Each USB Type-C port is capable of up to 100W of Power Delivery with a total 165W maximum output. That means all three USB outputs are capable of charging any gaming handheld PC at its fastest rate, including the Asus ROG Ally X, which supports up to 100W of fast charging.

Another feature common to Anker's other premium power banks is the digital LCD readout. It displays a wealth of information like remaining battery capacity, current charging rate, input/output wattage, battery temperature, battery health, charge cycle count, and more.

TSA-Approved

TSA states that power banks must be under 100Whr in capacity for carry-on (check-in is not allowed under any circumstances). This Anker power bank is rated at 95Whr. You might get checked simply because this is a relatively hefty power bank, but you shouldn't have any problems getting it cleared.

The Secretlab Presidents' Day Sale Starts Now: Save on the Best Gaming Chairs of 2025

Unfortunately, newer releases like the Titan Evo Nanogen chair and the recliner add-on are exempt from this sale.

It's no secret that we love our Secretlab gaming chairs. Two of the six chairs in our best gaming chair roundup are Secretlab models. Of all the gaming chairs we covered in our "Budget to Best" roundup video earlier this year, my colleague Akeem Lawanson considered the Secretlab Titan Evo to be the most comfortable. No good chair comes cheap and Secretlab chairs definitely cost a premium, but we think the craftsmanship, materials, and customizability are worth it.

TL;DR - The 7 Best Secretlab Deals

You can quickly browse through all of the listed products on sale above. For more information on each product and why they are worth your consideration, read through below.

Secretlab Titan Evo

The Titan Evo starts at $519 during the sale. This is Secretlab's flagship chair and it's available in small, medium, and large sizes. Upholstery options include Neo Hybrid leatherette, SoftWeave Plus fabric, or premium Napa leather. The chair features cold-cure foam upholstery for the seat, a supportive four-way lumbar system, full length backrest with 165 degrees of recline, full metal 4D armrests with magnetically attached PU cushions, and a memory foam headrest pillow.

Aside from the build quality, the Titan Evo also stands out thanks to the sheer number of officially licensed designs from popular video games, TV shows, and more. Some of the more popular examples include The Witcher, Overwatch, Attack on Titan, League of Legends, World of Warcraft, and Game of Thrones. They generally cost more than the standard colors, but they're worth it if you're looking for that extra personal touch.

In our Secretlab Titan Evo review, Chris Coke wrote that "after two years of daily use, the Secretlab Titan Evo has proven that it can stand the test of time and still be one of the best gaming chairs you can buy. Meaningful ergonomics paired with Secretlab’s wide selection of designs, it remains a fantastic option, especially for fans of bright colors or designs."

Secretlab Titan 2020

The prior model Titan 2020 gaming chair is available for $474, which is $45 less than the base model Titan Evo. The Titan 2020 is still an excellent chair and not much different than the current Evo model. In fact, outside of an upholstery change (the PU leather has been updated with Neo Hybrid Leatherette), the changes are mostly cosmetic. You are limited to fewer design options, so if you want to build out something that's truly unique, you might want to splurge a bit extra for the current generation Titan Evo model.

Secretlab Titan Evo Lite

Among the Titan chairs, the Evo Lite is definitely the best value with its starting price tag of $419, or a full $100 less than the base model Titan Evo. It's built upon the same frame as the Titan Evo and has the same core features like the cold-cure foam cushioning, lumbar, 165 degrees of recline, and 4D armrests. What it compromises on is customization, with "only" two upholstery options, two sizes, and five colors, a non-adjustable lumbar system, simpler arm rests, and no included head rest. If none of these tradeoffs bother you, then you'll be saving quite a bit of money.

Secretlab Titan Evo Nanogen Edition

Although the Titan Evo Nanogen Edition isn't on sale, it deserves mention simply because this is our top pick for the best gaming chair. In our Titan Evo Nanogen Edition review, Chris Coke wrote that "the Secretlab Titan Evo Nanogen Edition deserves every bit of the overwhelming praise I’ve given. Granted, at $799 it’s significantly more expensive than the original and not far off from an entry-level Herman-Miller. But the return it offers in comfortable, supportive gaming is well worth the extra cost thanks to dramatically improved materials in both the fabric and multi-layered padding. The Titan Evo Nanogen Edition is class-leading, and is hands-down the most comfortable gaming chair I’ve ever used."

Secretlab Titan Recliner Add-On

Secretlab also announced a new recliner add-on to anyone who already owns the Titan Evo chair. It's so new that not only will this recliner ship out sometime next year, it's not even available for preorder yet. We have received a unit for testing, however, and it has turned out to be a very practical addition.

In our recliner add-on review, Chris Coke wrote that "while both comfort and value are subjective things, the recliner is able to take the Titan Evo and transform it from one of the best racing style gaming chairs to standing head and shoulders above the competition at its price point. It’s novel enough that I wouldn’t be surprised to see other brands following suit in the near future. If you don’t mind paying for it, it’s an absolutely killer upgrade for your gaming chair."

Secretlab Magnus and Magnus Pro

The Magnus and Magnus Pro are also on sale during Cyber Monday. The Magnus is a traditional fixed-frame gaming desk while the Magnus Pro ups the ante with a custom designed electric standing desk frame for an additional $250. Both desks feature an all-metal desktop surface, solid steel legs and cleverly thought out areas for cable management, but the Magnus Pro has some really unique features including a power cable that runs internally inside one of the telescoping legs and an in-line control panel that you won't bump into.

In our Secretlab Magnus Pro review. Mark Knapp writes that "the Secretlab Magnus Pro is a fantastic desk, bringing the brilliant cable management solutions of the original Magnus to a fast, quiet, and wide-ranging motorized standing desk. The desk is built well and proves an excellent platform for work and play alike. It’s an expensive desk though, and for the money, it would have been nice to see a smarter safety mechanism for the motors and the desk mat included. Still, the overall quality you get is a big step up from cheaper standing desks, and the optional accessories truly enhance the experience. Anyone who’s not committed to a standing desk should save their money and go for the standard Magnus if everything else about this model sounds good, but for gamers who love a tidy desk and want the flexibility of a standing desk, the Magnus Pro should be the first they consider."

Which Amazon Fire TV Stick Should You Buy in 2025?

If you have an older TV and aren't necessarily looking to upgrade to something smarter, you might be in the market for a Fire TV stick to round out your streaming setup. Since its inception, Amazon’s Fire TV range has grown to suit a variety of different needs, resulting in a series of sticks to pick between depending on your use case. Whether you’re looking for a 4K streaming device to watch cutting-edge dramas like House of the Dragon or a budget dongle to rewatch iconic shows like The Sopranos, we can help you find the best Fire TV device for your needs.

What Fire TV Device Is the Best for Most People?

As we mentioned, there are plenty of Fire TV sticks to choose from, depending on your needs. Of all the options on our list, the best match for most people is the Fire TV Stick 4K (2023). At $49.99, it has all the modern streaming features, like HDR and Dolby Atmos sound support, within its approachable price. Plus, if you’re interested in playing Xbox games but don’t want to take the financial leap on a console, the Fire TV Stick 4K is compatible with the Xbox app. So you’ll only need a Game Pass Ultimate membership and a controller to jump into Xbox’s vast catalog of games.

Every Fire TV Streaming Device Available in 2025

Fire TV Stick 4K Max - Best Overall

The Fire TV Stick 4K Max offers a superior streaming experience without making a heavy budget compromise. Under the hood, the 4K Max has a Quadcore processor and 16GB of storage, so you can download all the apps you desire without needing to sacrifice performance. The 4K Max’s Wifi 6E support also helps to deliver lower latency and higher speeds for content streaming. Though, you’ll need to make sure that your router is compatible to make the most of that feature.

One of the biggest benefits of the Fire Stick TV 4K Max is that, like the Fire Stick TV 4K, you can play Xbox games through the Xbox Cloud Gaming service. With a Game Pass Ultimate membership and a trusty Bluetooth controller, you can take on the vast expanse of outer space in Starfield without investing in a static console.

Fire TV Stick 4K (2023) - Best for Streaming

If you’re looking for an approachable yet powerful Amazon streaming device, the Fire TV Stick 4K is the one for you. At only $20 more than the Fire TV Stick Lite, this pocket-sized wonder can control your smart home and all your content with the help of its built-in voice assistant, Alexa. Alongside streamlining your TV and soundbar remote into a single package, you’ll also find quick access buttons to key apps that make navigating the Olympic-sized pool of streaming services much more straightforward.

If rolling credits on the Fallout TV show has you hankering to spend some time in the wasteland, you can pick up a subscription and access the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate library on your Fire Stick TV 4K. Like streaming services that offer copious films and TV shows, you’ll have access to hundreds of games through this service, including Fallout 76 and Fallout 4, which you can play using an external controller paired to the device.

The Fire Stick TV 4K streams at up to 60fps and supports most HDR platforms, including HDR 10, HDR 10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision. The 8GB storage size can fill up fast, though if you’re mainly interested in sticking with the standard streaming apps, it should provide more than enough gigs to get by.

Fire TV Stick Lite - Best Budget Option

At $29.99, the Fire TV Stick Lite opens the door to Amazon’s streaming OS, delivering the bare essentials you need for a solid streaming experience. Ideal for a dorm room TV or secondary screen with a lower resolution, the Fire TV Stick Lite streams in 1080p and comes with a wide array of HDR compatibility.

Finding the right show among a cavalcade of content is straightforward, courtesy of the Fire Stick TV Lite’s controller, which has Alexa voice search built in. While the lite version of the controller doesn't have the functionality to adjust the TV itself, you can get to apps like Netflix or Prime Video using quick-access buttons.

Amazon Fire TV Cube - Best For Smart Home

Not only does the Fire TV Cube look like a spaceship, but it’s also flush with all the doodads and whatnots you’d likely find in one. Its Octa-Core processor and Alexa Voice Remote allow for smooth and snappy navigation across Amazon’s native Fire OS. You’ll also have a choice of connectivity on the Fire TV Cube, picking between Wi-Fi 6 or an Ethernet port for a more stable connection.

If you’re already in the Amazon home ecosystem, the Fire TV Cube can serve as a slick organizational hub where you can view your Ring Camera, set a snack timer, or ask Alexa to turn down the lights. And, once you’ve locked down your home and are ready to kick back, the Fire Cube TV’s broad HDR support and extensive audio compatibility mean high-intensity blockbusters like Furiosa can be enjoyed in all of their cinematic glory. This is overall an excellent option for any one looking to create more of a home theater system rather than just upgrade their TV with streaming apps.

Amazon Fire TV Stick (3rd Gen) - Best Last-Gen Option

Amazon's previous generation Fire TV stick is still available for purchase, but we generally don't reccommend picking one up now that newer generations are available. It doesn't include 4K streaming and doesn't offer the benefit of Game Pass compatibility that the newer models do, like the 4K version for just $10 more. If the more affordable price is what is drawing you to the last-gen Fire TV stick, you may want to just consider picking up the Fire TV Stick Lite instead.

Fire TV Stick FAQs

Do you need a Fire TV stick if you have a Fire TV?

If you have an Amazon Fire TV or a fairly new smart TV, then there isn't really a need for a Fire TV stick. A Fire TV device, like any of the best streaming devices, is really just a way to access streaming apps on your TV. The only real exception to this is if you want to take advantage of the Xbox Game Pass streaming app that is now accessible via the latest Fire TV sticks.

What Fire TV devices are compatible with the Xbox app?

It was only recently that Amazon and Xbox partnered up to allow users to stream Xbox Game Pass games on Fire TV devices. Because of this, only the Fire TV Stick 4K and Fire TV Stick 4K Max are compatible with the app. If you have an older generation Fire Stick or the Fire TV Cube, you will not be able to use the app.

When do Fire TV devices go on sale?

Amazon Fire TV devices go on sale fairly regularly, to the point that you should never really be paying full price. Some of the best times of the year to find discounts are on Amazon Prime Day and Black Friday. However, holiday weekends like Presidents' Day, Labor Day, and Memorial Day are also usually good times to find deals. You can take a look at our guide to upcoming sales events for an idea of when to shop.

Amazon Has the First Discount of the Year on the Kindle Paperwhite for Its Presidents' Day Sale

As someone who reads a new book almost every week, one of the greatest purchases I've ever made was my Kindle Paperwhite. While I love reading an actual physical book when I can, it is way more convenient to just move on to the next book in a series at the click of a button. And because I do the bulk of my reading at night, having the built-in backlight is a total game changer.

That being said, a Kindle is a fairly expensive purchase. Amazon doesn't have deals on Kindle devices very often, but when it does, it's usually a good time to pick one up for a little bit less. Right now, Amazon is dropping the price of the Kindle Paperwhite as part of its Presidents' Day and Valentine's Day sales.

The Best Kindle Deal at Amazon Today

Amazon is currently only discounting the black version of the Kindle Paperwhite, which means both the jade and raspberry models are still full price. This shouldn't matter much, however, as you can customize the Kindle with a variety of different cases and covers. And while the 16% discount on this Kindle may not seem like much, it's enough to essentially cover the cost of a case.

I'd personally recommend getting a case to go with your Kindle. All you have to do is close the front flap and it will automatically go into sleep mode.

Is this a good deal?

The Kindle Papwerwhite doesn't go on sale very often, so any discount is usually a pretty good deal. That said, this isn't the lowest-ever price for this device. The biggest discount we've seen on this particular model of e-reader was back during Black Friday and Cyber Monday when Amazon dropped it down to $129.99. Overall, this is the first discount we've seen in 2025 and we recommend buying one if you've been waiting for a sale.

Should You Buy the Regular Kindle Instead?

In general, we recommend the Paperwhite as the overall best Kindle you can buy, but the 2024 version of the standard Kindle is still quite good and has many of the same features. I happen to own both the latest Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle and have found the biggest difference to be the size and price. The standard Kindle comes with a 6-inch screen compared to the larger 7-inch screen of the Paperwhite. Both models include a built-in backlight and a dark mode, so if you'd prefer a more compact model, the regular Kindle is a great option. It is also quite a bit cheaper, even without a discount.

Do You Have to Pay for Kindle Unlimited?

If you purchase a Kindle, you do not have to have a Kindle Unlimited subscription to read books on it. The Kindle store sometimes has free books and you can make purchases directly through your device as well. You can also download free books from other sources like Libby and read them on your Kindle if you want to avoid paying anything.

Amazon does give you the option to pair Kindle Unlimited with your purchase of the device, which will give you three free months of the service. As someone who has a Kindle Unlimited subscription, I'd definitely recommend it if you plan on reading a lot of books. It's especially good for some of the older best-selling books and genres like LitRPG that have 10+ titles in the series.

Score a Massive 20TB Seagate External Hard Drive for Only $229.99 at Best Buy

If you're shopping for a huge amount of local storage, here's a deal that beats pretty much anything I saw during Black Friday. For a limited time, Best Buy is offering this massive Seagate Expansion 20TB USB 3.0 Desktop Hard Drive for only $229.99 shipped. That averages out to a mere $11.50 per TB of storage.

Seagate Expansion 20TB Desktop Hard Drive

The Seagate Expansion boasts a single 20TB disk drive so it's no bigger than any other desktop hard drive. It features a USB 3.0 interface with roughly up to 100MB/s transfer speed, which is in line with what you'd expect from a traditional hard drive. It also includes recovery software and automatic recognition of both Windows and Mac computers.

Although SSDs are all the rage these days, traditional hard drives are still the superior choice for long term storage. For one, hard drives are significantly less expensive. Compared to this hard drive's $11.50/TB cost, a solid state drive would run you at least $50/TB. Hard drives also have a much higher maximum capacity. Consumer SSDs generally cap out at 8TB, which pales in comparison to the 20TB capacity of this drive. Perhaps most importantly, although SSDs can equal HDDs in terms of lifespan, it's much easier to recover data from a HDD than SSD if either one fails.

AU Deals: An Impressive Foots On With the Moza CRP2 Pedals, Best Prices, and More!

For a while now, Moza peripherals have been turning my head sharper than a spectator watching Skylines whip down Conrod. Without exception, they've been impressively built and well-performing bits of kit for my home racing rig. And so, obviously, when the opportunity arose to get tootsies on with their new CRP2 pedals, I volunteered my lead foot immediately.

Positioned as a premium upgrade to Moza's inaugural efforts, the CRP2s aim to eclipse in every way with new build materials, the addition of tool-less adjustability, optional kit upgrades, and, mercifully, a two-pedal design that keeps prices down while allowing upgradeability for you OG clutch bandits.

That's the basic toe dip overview covered. Before I dive feet first into some deeper impressions, let's address the elephant in the room early—considerable, non-entry-level expense. Below are the best prices I can currently find on these budget-challenging pedals. You can skip the window shop by clicking here to continue into my impressions.

Cheapest Prices For Moza CRP2 Pedals

Feets On Impressions

Before I pop the (by default non-existent) clutch and put literal pedal to the metal, let's talk looks and build quality. As with virtually every Moza racing ecosystem product I've appraised thus far—be it wheels, bases, shifters, pedals, or even clamps—the CRP2s are as eye-catching as they are eyewateringly pricey. However, if you're in a position to part with a small championship's purse worth of moolah, there's an undeniable sense of getting every penny of what you're paying for here.

Aesthetics and Build Quality

These pedals are a looker thanks to a sheeny, conservative design that will allow them to unobtrusively mix-and-match into any existing sim setup you’re rocking. They look the business, being crafted from CNC aerospace-grade aluminium with a 3K twill carbon fibre heel plate to boot (literally).

After much abuse, I can confirm that these are built like a Bushmaster PMV. For their first test, they withstood some serious heel-toe shifting (read stamping) while I blazed along the Shuto Expressway in Tokyo Xtreme Racer. (Don’t judge me—I will occasionally break from hardcore simming to devour junk food that feels like it’s been freeze-preserved from the PS2 generation.)

Setup and Customisation

Setting these up was a cinch (as was adding the clutch pedal later on). Better yet, being able to physically tweak them to be “juuuust so” without needing to go get my toolbox from the garage was a godsend. I’m a lazy man, so being able to just hop out of my seat and tinker tool-lessly with the attributes of this pedal is quite the selling point.

I also appreciate the noticeably improved cable management here as compared to my older CRP pedals. Keeping things neater was, after all, an imperative here as the use of dual sensor technology has increased the wires.

Are you not a grease monkey who’s into the physical manipulation of pedal angle/travel adjustments or face height massaging? You can, of course, keep your butt planted in your seat and affect a wide variety of other changes through Moza’s comprehensive Pit House side app. Keep your hands pristine as you mess with the various pedal output curves, engagement points, and more.

Perhaps the most exciting wrinkle of the CRP2’s design is its support for a (sold separately and not cheaply) inverted mounting kit. I’ll dive into an appraisal of that when Moza pulls its finger out and sends me one, but the basic gist is that it's an aluminium alloy support that provides 20° angle adjustment as you effectively hang your pedals like a bat. Why? To better replicate the feel of a GT3 car or similar.

Feel and Performance

When it comes to road testing these, I should probably explain why you’re going to want to step up—or rather, onto—load cell pedal technology if you somehow haven’t already. Part of their surface benefit is, obviously, a more comparative look and feel to an actual set of anchors in a bona fide automobile. That being said, I’ve found there are other pros that can genuinely make you a corner master.

Becoming an effective braker is a key skill if you wish to utilise slow-in-fast-out cornering discipline, which has…er, quite a good track record of success. In my experience, an effective, consistent braking technique is best learned through acquiring muscle memory via foot tension/load cell pressure as opposed to the mere positioning of a more inert and pliable “regular” sim racing pedal.

In all of my various tests—from ye olde fave Project Cars 2 through to my daily diet of iRacing and the more recent Assetto Corsa Evo—the CRP2s felt smooth and premium. Thanks to the benefits of both a 200 kg load cell sensor (that is, frankly, overkill) and 15-bit high-precision angle sensoring, my footwork definitely felt fancier and more responsive than on my old CRPs, which were not dual technology.

I’m not going to tell you I tried all of its 1,764 customisation options—or even most of them—as I had enough experience to quickly dial in what I liked when replicating open wheelers or road cars. As a returning/upgrading user, I can definitely say that the brake pedal is the standout improvement for me. Sometimes I’m a softer touch stopper for certain vehicles/games, and other times I’m a heavy stomper—dialling in what I wanted when I wanted it was as easily done as it was gratifying on the track.

Honestly, and no matter the discipline, car type, or sim I used with them, the Moza CRP2 pedals consistently elevated my sense of control (while lowering my PB lap times). None of those shavings were by a huge margin, but in a genre where snipping off seconds is what separates the amateur poser from the pole position maestro, that’s justification enough for an enthusiast to upgrade.

Amazon Has The New GeForce RTX 5080 Prebuilt Gaming PCs Up for Preorder

The first wave of the new Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series video cards have launched, and they're already gone. Unless you're willing to pay upwards of $6,000 for a resold RTX 5090 or 5080, your best bet is to pick up a prebuilt gaming PC equipped with one of these coveted graphics cards.

Amazon is a bit late to the party, but Blackwell-equipped gaming PCs are starting to trickle in. I've added placeholder pages for some of the more popular prebuilts on Amazon, including Skytech, Cyberpowerpc, CLX, MSI, and Ibuypower. At this point most prebuilts are out of stock, but not all.

RTX 5080 and 5090 GPUs Are Sold Out Everywhere

The first wave of Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series graphics cards went up for preorder and sold out within the first hour. First to be released were the two highest-end GPUs in the stack: the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080. The mid-range RTX 5070 and 5070 Ti cards will be released later in February.

Sadly, the same is the case with prebuilt gaming PCs equipped with these new GPUs. We saw a number of systems listed (with a few even showing up a day early), and at this point these are all out of stock as well.

2024 Apple iPad Mini (A17 Pro)

The iPad Mini may be the most diminutive tablet of the bunch, but that doesn't mean it's hindered in any way. This is the most compact and portable iPad measuring 7.7" long, 5.3" wide, and only 0.25" thin. The compact form factor still packs in a gorgeous 8.3" Liquid Retina display with True Tone, P3 Wide Color, and ultra-low reflectivity. The new iPad Mini was released in October of 2024 and features some pretty significant improvements over its predecessor, including a more powerful A17 Pro processor, double the base storage capacity, an updated faster Wi-Fi 6e protocol, a USB Type-C port that offers faster charging, and compatibility with the newer Apple Pencil Pro and Apple Pencil (USB-C), and upcoming support for Apple Intelligence.

Marvel Rivals Sets February Release Date for The Thing and Human Torch

Marvel Rivals will round out The Fantastic Four team when The Thing and Human Torch launch as playable characters on February 21, 2025.

The release date for the new heroes in Marvel and NetEase Games’ popular hero shooter was announced today, revealing that they'll arrive alongside an update for the second half of Season 1. Although the team has yet to spill the beans on what exactly this Season 1.5 update has in store, a Dev Talk blog post on the Marvel Rivals website teased “major balance adjustments.”

As for The Thing and Human Torch, we have yet to see exactly how the two classic heroes will light up the roster with their new moves and abilities. Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman were introduced as the first post-launch Marvel Rivals heroes when Season 1 launched last month. Both characters brought along unique tools to shift the multiplayer game’s meta in a new direction, with Reed Richards able to take stretchy (and goofy) swings at enemies thanks to his elastic powers while Sue Storm introduced invisibility mechanics to the battlefield. Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm will surely do the same when they launch in a few weeks, but let’s hope NetEase reveals some gameplay before then.

The upcoming Marvel Rivals Season 1 update will also see Ranked players hit with a rank reset. Come February 21, expect to see your Rank drop four divisions, meaning if you’re a Diamond I player on February 20, you’ll be brought down to Platinum II the following day.

NetEase explained how this process will carry on in the future, saying that brand-new seasons will hit players with a six-division drop, while half-season updates will bring a four-division drop. As Marvel Rivals continues to tweak its Ranked offerings to players’ desires, NetEase said it will “tune this as necessary.”

It’s not all doom and gloom, though, as competitive Marvel fans in the Gold rank can look forward to new costume rewards with the launch of the second half of Season 1. NetEase will also be introducing new Crests of Honor to “recognize players at Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All (the top 500).”

Superhero fans had been not-so-patiently waiting to hear more about how Marvel Rivals will continue its post-launch plans, and The Fantastic Four is just the beginning. Last month, creative director Guangyun Chen drummed up excitement by promising to release a new playable character every half-season. That means a fresh Marvel face will join the fight roughly every six weeks, giving fans plenty to keep coming back for as seasonal updates progress. There’s quite a bit of evidence to suggest the vampire-hunting Daywalker Blade is next on the list, though outside of some rumors and leaks that have had players arguing for the last few weeks, Marvel Rivals’ future remains a mystery.

You can read up on our current Marvel Rivals Season 1 tier list to find out the best characters while you wait for the mid-season update to shake things up. You can also see how the original Marvel rivals Season 1 patch turned the meta on its head, and why the community got so worked up over Marvel Rivals' alleged bot issue.

The Lenovo Presidents' Day Sale Starts Now: Save Big With These Legion Prebuilt Gaming PC Deals

Lenovo has kicked off its Presidents' Day Sale early with big price drops on two of its most popular Legion prebuilt gaming desktop computers. These systems are:

Lenovo Legion Tower 7i Gen 8 RTX 4080 Super Gaming PC

This Lenovo Legion Tower 7i Gen 8 system is equipped with an Intel Core i9-14900KF CPU, GeForce RTX 4080 Super GPU, 32GB of DDR5-4000MHz RAM, and a 2TB PCIe NVMe SSD. The unlocked 14th gen Intel Core i9-14900KF Raptor Lake "Refresh" CPU boasts a max Turbo clock of 6GHz with 24 cores, 32 threads, and a 36MB cache. It's still one of the most powerful Intel CPUs available (in many cases it even beats out the new Intel Core Ultra 9 285K). It's cooled by a robust 360mm all-in-one liquid cooling system that rivals many enthusiast setups.

The RTX 4080 Super is Nvidia's second most powerful RTX 40-series card. You'll be able to handle any game in 4K at high frame rates, even with ray tracing enabled. It's 5-10% faster in performance than the RTX 4080 thanks to its higher base clock speed, higher CUDA core count, and higher memory bandwidth. It trades blows with AMD's most powerful GPU, the Radeon RX 7900 XTX, but the RTX 4080 Super pulls ahead in ray tracing performance and where DLSS 3.0 is supported. It's nearly identical in performance to the new RTX 5080 GPU and also has the same amount of VRAM.

Lenovo Legion Tower 5 Gen 8 RTX 4070 Ti Super Gaming PC

This Lenovo Legion Tower 7i Gen 8 system is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 7700 CPU, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super GPU, 32GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD. The Ryzen 7 7700 CPU boasts a max boost clock of 5.3GHz with 8 cores, 16 threads, and a 32MB cache. It's air cooled by a 120mm tower heatsink/fan combo.

The RTX 4070 Ti Super boasts a substantial 15-25% uplift in performance over the RTX 4070 Super. This is an outstanding card for high-framerate 1440p gaming and also the least expensive Nvidia card that I would recommend for comfortable (60fps+) gaming at 4K resolution. The RTX 4070 Ti Super has 16GB of VRAM compared to the RTX 4070's 12GB, which matches the 4080 Super and even the 5080.

Why Choose Lenovo?

Lenovo Legion gaming PCs and laptops generally feature better and more rugged build quality than what you'd find from most other prebuilt PCs. For desktop PCs in particular, people like the fact that Lenovo does not use many proprietary components in their rigs, so the PCs are much easier to upgrade with easiy obtainable, off-the-shelf parts. For laptops, Lenovo generally does not throttle the GPU on most of the Legion laptops, so you should expect maximum performance from a given GPU. Lenovo generally includes a solid one-year warranty with the option to extend.

Roblox Referenced in Active SEC Investigation, Report Confirms

The eminently popular live service game Roblox is involved in an active investigation by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) according to a new report, though the extent is unclear.

As reported by Bloomberg, a Freedom of Information Act request elicited a statement from the commission, confirming Roblox had been referenced in an "active and ongoing investigation."

"We have confirmed with Division of Enforcement staff that there are responsive emails between Enforcement staff referencing Roblox and that these emails are a part of an active and ongoing investigation," the SEC told Bloomberg.

The extent to which Roblox is involved, or even the subject of the investigation, is unclear right now. The commission told Bloomberg it couldn't share staff correspondence referencing Roblox, as it would cause "harm to the ongoing enforcement proceedings." Bloomberg could not confirm the subject of the investigation, nor did Roblox respond to the outlet's requests for comment. The SEC declined to comment further.

Roblox has been under some scrutiny from various sources, however. Last October, a report accused Roblox Corporation of deliberately inflating its daily active user (DAU) statistics and fostering a "hellscape" for children. Roblox responded at length on its own site to strongly deny the accusations, asserting "safety and civility" are foundational to its live service platform. It's also acknowledged that undetected fraud and unauthorised access to Roblox may contribute to an overstatement of DAUs. In 2024, Roblox announced major updates to its safety systems and parental controls.

Further back, families sued Roblox in 2023, accusing the corporation of being misleading about its "ability to make the site safe and appropriate for children." A 2021 report from People Makes Games looked into the user-generated content of Roblox, and whether it was exploiting creators.

Last week Roblox shares fell 11%, as the Roblox Corporation reported 85.3 million daily active users, short of a StreetAccount estimated 88.2 million. Roblox CEO David Baszucki said the company would continue to invest in its virtual economy, app performance, and "AI-powered discovery and safety, empowering creators and enhancing the user experience."

Spooked by the 2011 PSN Hack, Some PlayStation Customers Want Sony to Say Exactly What Went Wrong With PSN Over the Weekend

Sony has said the 24-hour outage that knocked out PlayStation Network over the weekend was due to an “operational issue.”

In a tweet confirming the recovery of its network services, Sony apologized for the downtime and thanked the PlayStation community for its patience. As a make-good, it’s giving all PlayStation Plus members an additional five days of service.

However, some PlayStation customers are demanding more information on the cause of the downtime beyond the vague “operational issue,” and have pointed to the high-profile PSN data breach of 2011 that saw personal details from approximately 77 million accounts compromised.

“Given what happened in 2011 we need to know if we need to call our banks for new credit cards and need identity protection services,” one social media user said in response to Sony’s statement.

“Sweet, but can you also tell us what happened and how you’ll be working to avoid it in the future?” another asked.

“Your lack of transparency is disturbing,” said another.

Some are also calling on Sony to outline the measures it’s taking to prevent similar “operational issues” from knocking out PSN in the future.

PSN going offline not only affected online gaming but single-player games that require either authentication with a server or a constant internet connection. Embattled U.S. retailer GameStop tweeted a joke at Sony’s expense while PSN was offline, saying “bet y’all want physical copies now.” But this joke was met with ridicule across social media, as users pointed out the declining shop chain’s penchant for selling products other than video games these days.

Some third-party publishers whose games were affected have announced extensions to in-game events or limited-time modes. Capcom just announced an extension to the next Monster Hunter Wilds beta test after last weekend’s was cut short by the PSN issue. EA was forced to extend FC 25's most hardcore multiplayer event, too.

Sony is yet to expand on the PSN downtime beyond two single tweets: one to acknoledge PSN was offline, another to say it was back up with the vague explanation and compensation. Clearly, some customers want further communication from the company.

Monster Hunter Wilds Beta Gets Extra 24 Hours After PSN Outage

Capcom has extended the Monster Hunter Wilds beta after the PlayStation Network outage rendered the previous test unplayable for 24 hours.

PSN went down at around 3pm PT on Friday, February 7, and didn’t return until around 24 hours later. All Sony has said on the matter by way of explanation is that its network services suffered an “operational issue.” In response, Sony gave all PlayStation Plus members an additional five days of service.

Of course, during the downtime PlayStation gamers were unable to play their games online, and even single-player games that required authentication with a server or a constant internet connection ran into trouble.

Monster Hunter Wilds’ second, hugely popular beta, was one of the affected games, with its weekend session that was meant to run from Thursday, February 6 to Sunday, February 9 cut short. Now, developer Capcom has issued a response to confirm a 24-hour extension to the next session. This means it will start this Thursday, February 13, and end on Monday, February 17, rather than the previously planned Sunday, February 16.

The new period is as follows:

  • Feb. 13, 7pm PT / Feb. 14, 3am GMT – Feb. 17, 6:59 pm PT / Feb. 18, 2:59 am GMT

During the extended period, players will still be eligible to receive the participation bonuses available in the full version of the game, Capcom added.

Despite the downtime last week, beta players were able to get to grip with Monster Hunter Wilds' big challenge, a fearsome new foe called Arkveld.

Monster Hunter Wilds launches proper on February 28, 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. You can read more about Capcom's latest hunting expedition in our IGN First coverage, including our Monster Hunter Wilds Final Preview here.

Check out our guide to the Monster Hunter Wilds Beta, including info on how to play multiplayer with friends, all the Monster Hunter Wilds weapon types, and the confirmed monsters you could encounter.

Captain America: Brave New World Is Secretly an Incredible Hulk Sequel

Captain America: Brave New World is the fourth entry in that long-running Marvel franchise, as well as being the first to star Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson in the lead role rather than Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers. But as much as this new movie is devoted to continuing the story of Captain America in the MCU, it’s also picking up a lot of loose ends from one of the very first MCU movies. Brave New World is practically The Incredible Hulk 2.

From Harrison Ford’s Thunderbolt Ross to Tim Blake Nelson’s The Leader to Liv Tyler’s Betty Ross, let’s break down the history of these MCU characters and why Brave New World is really an Incredible Hulk sequel in all but name.

Tim Blake Nelson’s The Leader

The Incredible Hulk teed up the next big villain in Hulk’s world with the introduction of Tim Blake Nelson’s Samuel Sterns, a tease that is only just now finally paying off in Brave New World. In The Incredible Hulk, Sterns is revealed to be an ally to Norton’s Bruce Banner, working with Banner from afar to help find a cure for the Hulk.

Banner and Sterns finally meet face-to-face in the film, where Banner discovers that Sterns has been a bit overzealous in his experiments with Banner’s gamma-irradiated blood. Sterns is captivated by the idea of their gamma research bringing them scientific acclaim, suggesting that he doesn’t quite have Banner’s sense of ethics. That’s some definite foreshadowing there.

After Banner is taken into custody, Blonsky strongarms Sterns into transforming him into another Hulk. Sterns is injured during Blonsky’s transformation, at which point a sample of Banner’s blood seeps into an open wound on his forehead. Sterns’ head immediately begins to swell and transform.

Comic book fans know that this is where Sterns evolves from ordinary man into The Leader, a gamma-powered villain who is as smart as Hulk is strong. But again, it’s only now in Brave New World that the MCU is finally following up on this twist.

Where has Sterns been all these years? The answer is in a comic book called The Avengers Prelude: Fury’s Big Week, one of the few comics that’s actually canon to the MCU. It shows Black Widow bringing Sterns into S.H.I.E.L.D. custody, where he’s presumably remained ever since.

But at some point, Sterns escaped and is now at the center of the conspiracy involving Captain America and President Ross. We don’t know much about his role in the film, as Nelson has been all but absent from the marketing so far. We can probably assume that Sterns had something to do with Ross’ transformation into Red Hulk, though, since that was the case in the comics.

Sterns could also have his sights set on adamantium. We know Brave New World will be introducing that iconic, unbreakable metal to the MCU, likely sparking a new arms race as the global powers clash over possession of this invaluable resource. The Leader may see an opportunity to play that conflict to his advantage. Whatever his plans, as The Leader, Sterns is now superhumanly intelligent, making him a very dangerous foe for Captain America and Falcon (Danny Ramirez) to contend with.

Liv Tyler’s Betty Ross

Nelson’s Samuel Sterns isn’t the only The Incredible Hulk character making a long overdue return appearance in Brave New World. This is also the first time we’ll see Liv Tyler reprise the role of Ross’ daughter Betty in the MCU.

As established in The Incredible Hulk, Betty and Bruce Banner originally met and fell in love in college. She later joined Banner as a researcher in Project Gamma Pulse, where she created the primer that allowed Banner to survive his exposure to gamma radiation and become the Hulk. Betty was among those injured during Banner’s transformation, sparking her father’s obsessive, Ahab-like hatred of Banner. That obsession has done nothing to help Betty’s already dysfunctional relationship with her father.

By the present-day events of The Incredible Hulk, Betty has mostly moved on and started dating Dr. Leonard Samson (Ty Burrell), though she doesn’t hesitate to rush to Banner’s aid when he resurfaces. Betty does her best to aid her ex-boyfriend in his quest to cure himself of his condition, even as that pits her directly against her father.

Ultimately, fate doesn’t allow Betty and Banner to reconnect for long. He resumes his life as a fugitive and Betty fades out of the MCU spotlight. We don’t know much about her story since then, apart from the fact that Betty is among the many temporarily snapped out of existence by Thanos in 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War.

Tyler is finally reprising her role for Brave New World. But as for what role Betty is meant to play in this story, we have no idea. Like The Leader, Betty has been absent from the film’s marketing so far. Will we discover she’s patched things up with her father? She is the daughter of the president now, after all. Will she be called upon for her expertise in gamma research and all things Hulk? Let’s also not forget that Betty herself becomes Red She-Hulk in the comics. Will Brave New World follow suit? We can only hope.

Harrison Ford’s President Ross/Red Hulk

The most obvious sign that Brave New World is actually an Incredible Hulk sequel is that it revolves heavily around Harrison Ford’s Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross. Ford is taking over the role from the late William Hurt, who played Ross in a number of MCU movies dating back to 2008.

Ross originally debuted in The Incredible Hulk, serving as one of the main antagonists to Edward Norton’s Bruce Banner. A stoic military man, General Ross oversees Project Gamma Pulse. Banner is led to believe the project revolves around radiation resistance. What he doesn’t know is that Ross is trying to create a modern and more powerful alternative to the WWII-era Super Soldier Serum. When Banner tests his experimental formula on himself, the Hulk is born.

Since that day, Ross has devoted himself to bringing the Hulk under government control by any means necessary, even at the cost of his relationship with his daughter Betty. Ross turns to elite soldier Emil Blonsky (Eli Roth) to help capture the fugitive Banner. Unfortunately, this alliance ends up creating a monster worse than the Hulk.

Ross injects Blonsky with a version of the Super Soldier Serum, transforming him into a Captain America-esque super-soldier. However, Blonsky finds that power addicting, and it’s not long before he forces Sterns to expose him to gamma radiation, becoming the Abomination. After a violent battle in Harlem, Hulk subdues the Abomination. Ross reluctantly allows his nemesis to escape the battlefield, postponing their next showdown for another day.

The final scene in The Incredible Hulk shows a dejected Ross drowning his sorrows at a bar, only to be approached by Robert Downey, Jr.’s Tony Stark. Stark attempts to recruit Ross into the Avengers Initiative, just as Nick Fury approached him in the post-credits scene in 2008’s Iron Man, which had been released just a month before this film.

For the full story on that encounter, though, we have to turn to the 2011 Marvel One-Shot short film “The Consultant.” There, it’s revealed that the World Security Council wants to recruit the Abomination to join the fledgling Avengers, much to the chagrin of S.H.I.E.L.D. agents Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) and Jasper Sitwell (Maximiliano Hernández). Coulson handpicks Stark to meet with Ross specifically because he knows the egotistical Stark will botch the job and Blonsky will remain in prison. Mission un-accomplished.

From there, Ross didn’t reappear in the MCU for years, finally resurfacing in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. By this point, Ross has become the Secretary of Defense and is instrumental in drafting the Sokovia Accords. He hopes to rein in the Avengers and make them accountable to a higher authority.

The ratification of the Sokovia Accords creates a schism in the Avengers, and Ross winds up throwing Captain America’s anti-registration faction in the superhuman prison known as The Raft. It’s not long before Cap breaks his friends out and they become fugitives from the law.

Chronologically speaking, Ross’ next appearance is in 2021’s Black Widow, where he’s seen hunting down Scarlett Johansson’s rogue agent. However, Natasha remains one step ahead of Ross and his troops, leaving him to clean up the wreckage of the Red Room’s floating fortress while she disappears into the wind.

Ross makes a small appearance in Infinity War, where he’s seen trying to maintain order as Thanos’ forces invade Earth and arguing with Don Cheadle’s War Machine. Ross doesn’t have much time to react to Rhodey’s defiance before he and trillions of others are snapped out of existence by Thanos.

Ross, along with the rest of those trillions, is restored to life when the Avengers manage to undo Thanos’ act in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. Ross can be seen at Tony Stark’s funeral, paying tribute to a man he butted heads with in life.

Now Ross is returning to play a major role in Captain America: Brave New World, with Ford taking over the role. As the movie opens, Ross has recently been elected President of the United States. Given how 2023’s Secret Invasion ended, we can infer that the American public, fearful of the possibility of more alien invaders lurking among them, turned to Ross as a figure with a decorated military record and a strong history of dealing with superhuman and alien threats.

"The Ross that we knew historically, going back to incredible Hulk in 2008, and certainly versions of him that we saw across the years in the MCU, his nickname was Thunderbolt. He had a thunderous temper. He was a guy who hunted Hulks. He was a guy who had this real legacy that could maybe be defined by his anger," director Julius Onah told IGN in a recent interview. "But the man that we're meeting now is a man who is an elder statesman, who's a diplomat, who's turning a new leaf, who sees and understands the errors of his past and wants to do better. And in doing that, initiating the Avengers is because they could be a benefit to the world. So this is a guy who also is looking to reconnect with his estranged daughter. And there was something really great about putting him on this journey of redefining himself as he's also interfacing with the Captain America who's defining himself too."

We’ll see Ross attempt to make peace with Mackie’s Sam Wilson in the film, hoping to usher in a new era of cooperation between the Avengers and the US government. However, Sam will soon find himself drawn into a deep conspiracy after Ross survives an assassination attempt and transforms into the Red Hulk. That’s right - somehow, Ross has turned himself into the very thing he always hated most.

As in the comics, we assume Ross is seeking to protect his country by creating a version of Hulk with more tactical experience and battlefield prowess, even if that means making a Faustian bargain with The Leader. Unlike the comics, however, Ross doesn’t seem overly concerned with hiding the fact that he’s Red Hulk.

But for Ross, protecting his country also means gaining control of adamantium, the newly discovered super-metal that every global power is attempting to weaponize.

"There's so many implications to a new technology like this emerging, and in some ways it ties into why this movie's called Brave New World, a technology that could have both incredibly positive implications and also potentially destructive or negative implications," Onah said. "So it was really exciting for me to be able to be directing and writing a movie where we introduce adamantium to the MCU, and obviously that teases a lot of things that fans are super eager about and it's going to be great. And it's also great to also see the geopolitical implications of it in this story because as a technology, it could have incredibly powerful application for different countries around the world. And then you think about it in a world where vibranium also exists, it's just a very, very rich terrain to play with."

Does the new Captain America have what it takes to unravel this conspiracy and take down a Hulked-out President Ross in the process? But maybe there’s a better question we should be asking…

Where Is The Hulk in Brave New World?

At this point, the only thing stopping Captain America: Brave New World from being called The Incredible Hulk 2 is the fact that Hulk himself is MIA. There’s no indication that Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner has a part to play in this sequel, though we wouldn’t rule out a secret, last-minute cameo appearance. Cap could certainly use the extra muscle when he takes on Red Hulk.

It would certainly make sense to include Banner in some capacity, given how the character’s story has unfolded in the MCU so far. Banner and his alter ego have come up in the world since the events of The Incredible Hulk. Hulk joined the Avengers and gained an aura of respectability, After his self-imposed exile on Sakaar in Thor: Ragnarok and his near-death battle with Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, Banner has gained a newfound control over his gamma side. Banner and Hulk have essentially merged into a single being with all of Hulk’s strength and all of Banner’s intelligence.

Including Hulk in Brave New World makes even more sense when you consider that he’s one of the only heroes keeping the torch of the Avengers alive right now. If we’ve learned anything from Phases 4 and 5 of the MCU, it’s that Banner and Benedict Wong’s Wong have become the planet’s first line of defense against all threats superhuman and magical. They’re minding the shop at a time when the Avengers have yet to be reformed.

We have to assume that Banner would be interested to know that his old nemesis has suddenly become a Hulk, too, and that Sterns has resurfaced with gamma powers of his own. We’d also like to know what the current state of Banner’s relationship with Betty is these days. Have the two reconnected now that Hulk is a respectable superhero in control of his powers?

For better or worse, it doesn’t appear that Hulk does have a big part to play in Brave New World. Any Banner appearance may be relegated to a post-credits scene, if even that. But it is worth remembering that Banner has his hands full with other matters these days. He’s now a member of a full-fledged family of Hulks. We saw his cousin Jen Walters (Tatiana Maslany) become a superhero lawyer in the She-Hulk series. That show also ended with the reveal that Banner has a gamma-powered son, Skaar, from his time on Sakaar. Banner may be off-world bonding with Skaar, explaining why he isn’t around to help Cap deal with Red Hulk and The Leader.

In that case, we’ll just have to wait until 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday to see Earth’s Mightiest Heroes officially back in action.

Do you think we’ll see Hulk put in an appearance in Brave New World? Vote in our poll and let us know what you think in the comments below.

As Civilization 7 Dataminers Discover Reference to the Atomic Age, Firaxis Says 'We're Excited for Where This Is Going'

Civilization 7 dataminers have unearthed evidence to suggest the game is set to receive a fourth, unannounced Age — and developer Firaxis has teased its plans in an interview with IGN.

A full campaign in Civilization 7 is one that goes through all three Ages: Antiquity, Exploration, and Modern. Once the Age is completed, all players (and any AI opponents) experience an Age Transition simultaneously. During an Age Transition, three things happen: you select a new civilization from the new Age to represent your empire, you choose which Legacies you want to retain in the new Age, and the game world evolves. The Civilization games have never had such a system.

Based on the unit types and victory conditions currently in-game, the Modern Age ends before the Cold War. In an interview with IGN, Civilization 7 lead designer Ed Beach confirmed this timeline, explaining how Firaxis settled on ending the current version of the game at the conclusion of World War 2.

“We spent a lot of time looking at the ebbs and flows of history,” Beach said. “Once we knew that our game would benefit by breaking it up into chapters, obviously the first thing we ask ourselves is, ‘well, when does a chapter start and when does a chapter end?’ And our senior historian on the project, Andrew Johnson, was working very closely with me, comes from a study of Southeast Asian history. My tendencies are way too focused on Western history, but he's very good at making sure that we're looking at the whole picture worldwide. But we did notice that all the big empires of antiquity, it wasn't just the Roman Empire, but even the big empires over in China and India crumbled under outside pressure in the rough same time period, the 300 to 500 common era time period that Rome was being challenged. Those big empires face challenges across the world.

“So we're like, okay, that's a great ending chapter for the first block of our game or what we're going to call the Age. So that's where Antiquity ends. And so we started looking for other places where the other chapters should end. The transition from Exploration to Modern is all about those big monarchies that were established, especially in places like Europe being challenged by people's revolutions, like the French Revolution or the American Revolution. There were a lot of revolutions in Europe in the 1840s as well. So that felt like a good grounding point. And then the nations emerging from it, the Americas and the French and so forth, could be in the Modern Age that follows.

“Then we looked for where's the next big shakeup worldwide in history, and it was the World Wars. We had to feel like there was a big pivot in history in 1945 essentially after the World Wars. Especially because we have new gameplay systems that can be unique for each Age, so we can change the rules of diplomacy or the rules of warfare, which commanders you have access to, whenever we change Ages, we need to make sure that those breaks have enough conformity to what happened in real life that they make sense to us.

“So yeah, we very deliberately did not push into the Cold War time period because that is one that just felt very different than the rest of the Modern Age. It just sort of dips its toes in the Cold War, like you've identified with the thermonuclear device being the one that ends the military victory path there.”

The inevitable follow-up question is, of course, whether Firaxis plans to expand Civilization 7 down the line with the addition of a fourth Age where players may, perhaps, go to space, land on the moon, and get to play with up to day units.

Executive producer Dennis Shirk wouldn’t confirm this outright, but did tease the developer’s future plans.

“You can imagine the possibilities with this, honestly,” Shirk said. “The way that the design team set it up so that each age is chockfull of systems, visuals, units, Civs, all specific to that age, and what you could do with that and where you could take it… we can't talk about the specifics. We can just talk about it in generalities. We're excited for where this is going to go.”

Hot on the heels of this tease, Civilization 7 players have already datamined the game, which is available in advanced access to those who paid more, and found reference to the Atomic Age.

Redditor ManByTheRiver11 revealed mention of unannounced leaders, civilizations, and word of the Atomic Age. New leaders and civs are of course expected, given Firaxis’ DLC strategy for previous games in the series. And this Atomic Age would certainly fit the bill with where Civ 7 currently ends and Shirk’s tease in our interview.

In the shorter term, Firaxis is working on addressing various community complaints that have led to a ‘mixed’ user review rating on Steam. In an interview with IGN ahead of the release of its third quarter financial results, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick acknowledged that Civilization 7 had received some negative reviews from press and players, but insisted that the “legacy Civ audience” will come around the more they play, and called Civilization 7’s early performance “very encouraging.”

Take-Two Boss Unconcerned by Plummeting PS5 and Xbox Sales, Insists GTA 6 Will Cause 'A Meaningful Uptick in Console Sales' in 2025

Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch fall 2025 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S only, leaving one platform in particular out in the cold: PC.

It’s an omission in keeping with developer Rockstar’s playbook for its previous games, but in 2025 feels outdated. And, given the increasing importance of the PC for a multiplatform game’s success, is GTA 6’s no-show on PC a missed opportunity or even a mistake?

IGN put that question to Take-Two boss Strauss Zelnick ahead of the company’s recent financial results, and in his response he teased GTA 6’s eventual release on PC.

“So with Civ 7 it's available on console and PC and Switch right away,” Zelnick said of Firaxis' recently launched Civilization 7. “With regard to others in our lineup, we don't always go across all platforms simultaneously. Historically, Rockstar has started with some platforms and then historically moved to other platforms.”

Rockstar fans have noted the studio's historical reluctance to release other past games on PC day-and-date with console, as well as its fraught relationship with the modding community over the years. Still, some had hoped that a game as big as GTA 6 could be a turning point for the studio's PC gaming attitude.

Big Rockstar titles tend to get to PC eventually, but the question of how long PC gamers will have to wait for what could end up being one of the biggest games ever remains. Given GTA 6’s fall 2025 release window, which Take-Two is still confident in, it seems likely PC players won’t get to play the game until 2026 at the earliest.

In December 2023, a former developer at Rockstar attempted to explain why GTA 6 is coming to PC after it hits PS5 and Xbox Series X and S, and called on PC gamers to give the studio the “benefit of the doubt” over its controversial launch plans.

But how big of a missed opportunity could skipping PC for GTA 6’s launch be? Zelnick told IGN that the PC version of a multiplatform game can generate 40% of overall sales, or even more with certain games.

That stat came as part of a discussion about the current console generation, which has seen sales of the PS5 and Xbox Series X and S — the two consoles GTA 6 launches on later this year — plummet. While Nintendo has the Switch 2 waiting in the wings, neither Sony nor Microsoft have announced their next-gen consoles. How long before the industry needs the PlayStation 6 and whatever Xbox is next?

Zelnick pointed to the PC platform as growing in importance, even as console sales fall, while publishers wait for Sony and Microsoft’s next moves.

“We have seen PC become a much more and more important part of what used to be a console business, and I wouldn't be surprised to see that trend continue,” he said. “Of course, there will be a new console generation.”

In any case, according to Zelnick, the release of GTA 6, which is expected to be the biggest entertainment launch of all time, will drive console sales as fans jump into the current generation for the first time in order to play the game.

“When you have a big title in the market and we have many of them coming, historically that has sold consoles,” Zelnick said.

“And I think that will happen this year. I don't think tariffs are going to be our friend, but I think there will be a meaningful uptick in console sales in calendar 25 because of the release schedule, not just coming from us, but coming from others. So I'm not concerned about that [console sales falling]. I think the trend that you'd want to focus on is this increasing share of the market that is reflected in PC.”

Indeed, many see the PlayStation 5 Pro as a future 'GTA 6 machine,' in the hopes it will be the best platform to play the game when it comes out. However, tech experts believe the PS5 Pro probably won't run GTA 6 at 4K60.

Dragon Quest 12 Information to Be Revealed 'Little by Little,' Series Creator Yuji Horii Says

Dragon Quest 12 is still in development and information will be released “little by little,” series creator Yuji Horii has said.

As reported by Automaton, Horii said the development team at Square Enix is “working hard” on Dragon Quest 12, while on a livestream with his radio show group KosoKoso Hōsō Kyoku.

It’s the first update on the game since May 2024, when Horii noted the deaths of Dragon Quest character designer Akira Toriyama and composer Koichi Sugiyama. The series’ lead producer Yu Miyake had by that point already stepped down from his position to lead Square Enix’s mobile game division.

Fans had expressed concern that Dragon Quest 12 might have been canceled amid restructuring at Square Enix and a lack up updates, but Horii’s latest comments appear to confirm the game is still in the works.

Dragon Quest 12 was announced as part of the series' 35th anniversary celebration and will be the first mainline entry since 2017's Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age.

Since then, Square Enix has said Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake exceeded sales expectations after selling 2 million copies.

Fans React to Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl PlayStation Easter Egg

UPDATE Feb. 10 2025: While Kendrick Lamar's "Game Over" jab and unique stage design left many scratching their heads, Super Bowl LIX halftime show art director Shelley Rodgers has confirmed that the artist's PlayStation reference was indeed intentional.

Rodgers broke down Lamar's grand scheme during an interview with Wired, explaining that the idea for a video game-themed concert came from the rapper himself. According to the publication, "each performance space was shaped like a button on a PlayStation-style controller, a performance intended to portray Lamar’s life as a video game."

It's unclear why he chose to channel PlayStation or gaming in general in a show laced with digs at Drake, but Rodgers has a few ideas.

"I think the [video game theme] was symbolic, his way to reach young people,” Rodgers said. “A lot of it is showing his journey, traveling through the American dream.”

Lamar previously promised to weave a narrative throughout his Super Bowl halftime performance, and with so many Easter Eggs and guest appearances, it looks like everything went exactly according to plan. Creative director Mike Carson offered more insight into how Lamar's team managed to make his gaming vision a reality.

"Dave Free and Kendrick are really into keeping things clean and minimal,” Carson said. “So we went with a monochromatic concrete look and allowed the video game motif to come alive through dialogue, lighting, choreography, and music."

It's unclear if PlayStation was aware of Lamar's plans to pay homage to its iconic face button shapes. Fans will surely comb over the performance to find even more hidden details in the weeks ahead.

ORIGINAL STORY Feb. 9 2025: Football fans spent months preparing for Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl LIX halftime show, but no one was expecting to see the artist take another dig at Drake with a stadium-sized PlayStation Easter Egg.

Most of the rapper’s set went off as expected. While the crowd cheered to spins on hits from records like DAMN and GNX, appearances from stars like Samuel L. Jackson and SZA helped take the show to new heights. Of course, there were plenty of references to Lamar’s infamous 2024 beef with Drake, too, but what audiences didn’t expect was how the Super Bowl performer chose to finally close the door on the former Degrassi star. As the lights went down, the words “Game Over” could be seen illuminated on the side of the stadium, while the stage was revealed to feature PlayStation’s iconic cross, circle, triangle, and square symbols.

Lamar’s Super Bowl halftime show was always going to be seen as a victory lap when it came to his beef with Drake, but bringing Sony into the fight to finally close that chapter in grand fashion felt especially brutal. Although it’s not quite clear why the To Pimp a Butterfly artist chose to seemingly channel PlayStation for the end of his year-long fight, music and gaming fans have taken to social media to share their appreciation for the dig nonetheless. At the very least, Lamar’s already great performance might be better on rewatch once you realize the stage is one big video game reference.

With Lamar’s show now finally putting the beef to bed, it’s hard not to look at the weekend as one of PlayStation’s biggest (and strangest) ever. Aside from its surprise spot in the Super Bowl halftime show, the gaming company found itself making headlines on Friday and Saturday morning when gamers were locked out of accessing PSN for an extended period of time. The unscheduled event saw fans unable to play any online titles for around a full day, resulting in one of the longest periods of downtime since the infamous outage of 2011. PlayStation was eventually able to bring PSN back online later yesterday and has stated it will be gifting PlayStation Plus users an additional five days onto their subscriptions.

Meanwhile, the Super Bowl still has time to go, and that means more trailers and commercials for some of the biggest movies and TV shows of 2025. Highlights so far include teasers for Jurassic World Rebirth, Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning, and Thunderbolts*. For everything included in this year's Big Game, you can see our commercial roundup here.

Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning Super Bowl Trailer Packs in Nostalgia and More Tom Cruise Stunts

Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning is shaping up to be one of 2025’s biggest movies, so Tom Cruise and co made sure to make a splash with a nostalgic Super Bowl LIX trailer ahead of its theatrical premiere this May.

The 30-second Big Game spot, unsurprisingly, starts with Cruise on the run before showing familiar shots from the action franchise’s first installment and the faces hero Ethan Hunt has met along the way. The get-together includes names like Ving Rhames’ Luther, Simon Pegg’s Benji, Hayley Atwell’s Grace, and Pom Klementieff’s Paris as audiences get more sneak peeks at some of the death-defying stunts the crew will pull off for their latest impossible mission. Cruise’s biplane scene still takes the cake as what might be the series’ gnarliest yet, though it looks like Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning still has a few surprises up its sleeve.

This year's Mission Impossible installment picks up after the events of 2023's Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning. That means the nearly two-year-long wait to see the conclusion to this latest saga is nearly at an end, though the franchise's future after this remains a mystery.

Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning comes to theaters May 23, 2025. If you need to play catch up before Cruise's latest premieres, you can see where to watch every film in the series here. For more on the Big Game, you can see our collection of all of the biggest commercials and trailers here.

Basically, this was a power fantasy of an FPS where akimbo pistoles held as much importance as your heart-eating demon tentacles and black hole conjurations. How to Train Your Dragon Remake Super Bowl Trailer Teases Fiery Battles for Hiccup and Toothless

Dreamworks’ live-action How to Train Your Dragon remake swooped into the Big Game with a Super Bowl LIX commercial that shows off even more from the remake of Toothless and Hiccup’s adventure.

It’s a brief look at the 2025 film, mostly showing off how the movie will handle some of the classic project’s more action-y sequences. That means a better look at dragon flight and more close moments between Hiccup and his scaly partner as they outrun fire-breathing beasts both big and small. The teaser mostly serves to whet moviegoers' appetites ahead of what will surely be a longer trailer this Wednesday.

“On the rugged isle of Berk, where Vikings and dragons have been bitter enemies for generations, Hiccup (Mason Thames; The Black Phone, For All Mankind) stands apart,” a synopsis for the How to Train Your Dragon remake says. “The inventive yet overlooked son of Chief Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler, reprising his voice role from the animated franchise), Hiccup defies centuries of tradition when he befriends Toothless, a feared Night Fury dragon. Their unlikely bond reveals the true nature of dragons, challenging the very foundations of Viking society.”

Dreamworks revealed a first look at its live-action How to Train Your Dragon with its debut trailer in November of last year. The footage mostly set the stage for Mason Thames to take up the mantle of Hiccup, who was voiced by Jay Baruchel in the original animated movie. That trailer also reintroduced movie fans to characters and locations that they'll remember from the first movie, while also debuting Gerard Butler's return as Stoick the Vast.

We’ll see more from the live-action How to Train Your Dragon when the full trailer premieres this Wednesday. Expect the remake to come to theaters June 13. While we wait for more, you can see all of the biggest Big Game trailers in our roundup.

Thunderbolts* Reappears With Action-Packed Super Bowl Trailer and a First Look at Sentry

While the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) preps to unleash Red Hulk with Captain America: Brave New World this week, Marvel gave fans a closer look at Thunderbolts* with a new Super Bowl LIX trailer that highlights the group's many different skills as well as what seems to be a sneak peek at its main villain, Sentry.

The commercial aired as part of the Big Game today, highlighting characters like Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, David Harbour’s Red Guardian, Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, and more. It’s an action-packed video that only gave football fans a taste of what’s in store, with the full two-and-a-half-minute trailer showing up online to reveal even more from Marvel’s latest. Additionally, in a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, we seem to get a few glimpses at Lewis Pullman's Sentry as he wreaks havoc on an unsuspecting MCU.

Thunderbolts* is the MCU's latest team-up movie. This time, however, the group is a bit more Suicide Squad than Guardians of the Galaxy, as many of its characters have dabbled in the bad guy life at one point or another. The film puts faces from across the superhero universe's movies and shows in the spotlight, including characters from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Ant-Man and the Wasp, and more. How the story will connect to the grand MCU plan remains to be seen.

We’ll learn about how the Thunderbolts will come together when it premieres May 2, 2025. While we wait to see what else the MCU is cooking up, you can check out every major Super Bowl commercial in our roundup here. You can also check out everything we know about Sentry, including his powers, origin, and comic book history here.

Jurassic World Rebirth Super Bowl Trailer Reveals More Dinosaur Carnage Ahead of Summer Premiere

Jurassic World Rebirth stomped into Super Bowl LIX with a special trailer that showed off even more dinosaur action ahead of its July 2025 premiere.

Stars Scarlett Johansson and Mahershala Ali steal this spotlight in this latest footage, but only until a pack of prehistoric beasts runs in to give audiences a taste of what’s in store. While the video shares a lot in common with the trailer Universal premiered last week, it’s still a solid look at the next Jurassic Park movie before it arrives this summer.

Jurassic World Rebirth will go in a different direction following the most recent trilogy, which concluded with Jurassic World Dominion in 2022. Sci-fi and monster movie veteran Gareth Edwards is taking over directing duties from Colin Trevorrow, as this latest film in the long-running series seeks to break new ground with fresh faces and a new story. It's unclear how closely Jurassic World Rebirth will be tied to the movies that came before, but we at least know that it is set sometime in the near future.

“Five years after the events of Jurassic World Dominion, the planet’s ecology has proven largely inhospitable to dinosaurs,” a synopsis for Jurassic World Rebirth says. “Those remaining exist in isolated equatorial environments with climates resembling the one in which they once thrived. The three most colossal creatures across land, sea and air within that tropical biosphere hold, in their DNA, the key to a drug that will bring miraculous life-saving benefits to humankind.”

Expect to see more about how the entry fits into the franchise before it releases in theaters July 2, 2025. For all the other Super Bowl commercials revealed during today's Big Game, you can see our roundup here.

The latest Thunderbolts* trailer begins with Valentina Allegra de Fontaine speaking in a court and saying, "The Avengers are not coming. Who will keep the American people safe?" Captain America Recap: The Messy Marvel Timeline That Led to Brave New World

We don’t want to say anything too obvious here, but the further we get into the MCU, the more stuff happens. And the closer we get to the end of a phase, some Marvel projects find themselves in the uncomfortable position of having to tie up a ton of loose threads in service of a broader plot. With The Fantastic Four: First Steps just around the corner, and technically ringing in a whole new phase, Captain America: Brave New World seems to be in that exact situation.

The events that have led us here go all the way back to 2008 and are now scattered across Disney+ series and movies alike, and not necessarily in a good way. So here follows a messy account of all the loose ends that wound up on Sam Wilson’s to-do list.

There have been moments throughout Marvel's nearly 20 years of storytelling dominance that have more business to take care of, so to speak. Going all the way back to Iron Man 2, some MCU titles don’t have the luxury of just telling their own story, and in recent years you can argue that none of them have. But the need to tie up loose ends in any given project is more present than ever in Marvel films now, and it gets more complicated the more characters bob and weave through the canon. Sam Wilson’s first solo outing as the official Captain America seems to be one of those projects that drew the short straw, with more than a little thread-pulling to do.

Sam’s road to wielding the shield is the straightest path to the events of Brave New World. First appearing in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier while running slower than Steve Rogers would like, Sam started his MCU tenure as a VA counselor, helping veterans readjust to life back at home. After proving himself by helping to root HYDRA out of SHIELD, he quickly became Steve’s most trusted right hand… err left I guess is the side he’s always on. By the time Avengers: Age of Ultron’s final moments rolled around, Falcon was a full-fledged Avenger. Captain America: Civil War finds him so entrenched he’s heading off to prison with the rest of Team Cap. And this is where the path to Brave New World gets well and truly muddy.

Going all the way back to Iron Man 2, some MCU titles don’t have the luxury of just telling their own story, and in recent years you can argue that none of them have.

Before he becomes Captain America, Sam meets Thaddeus Ross in Civil War at the Avengers Compound and likely again while being incarcerated at The Raft, gets reluctantly chummy with Bucky and very briefly crosses paths with Sharon Carter before going on the run with Team Cap all the way through the events of Infinity War. There he joins the battle against Thanos in Wakanda only to be dusted – and just kinda not exist for five years before coming back to battle Thanos again, but this time on the winning team. Cut to old man Rogers back from his time-travel adventures keeping Hulk’s promise to the Ancient One, and gifting Sam a shiny new shield that came from… somewhere in the past, or maybe an alternate timeline, because the original one was for sure chopped in half. Will we finally find out where that shield came from in Brave New World?

And that’s not even including The Falcon and The Winter Solider, where he finally took on the mantle of Captain America after a lot of hemming and hawing. So where Brave New World open questions are concerned, let’s start there.

Where’s Bucky?

We loved Bucky and Sam’s frenemy energy in Civil War, and it was nice to see the two former partners of Captain America bond in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. So on the one hand, it’s kind of surprising that Bucky isn’t back for Brave New World. He has been in every other Cap movie to date, after all. But then again, it’s a big ol’ Marvel Cinematic Universe, and he has other places to be.

Namely, James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes is audience bait on another big tentpole movie for Kevin Feige. Thunderbolts comes out in May, where Bucky will be hanging out with a team of non-Avengers that includes Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, U.S. Agent, Taskmaster, Ghost, Sentry, and Selina Meyer… uh, Contessa Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Don’t worry though. I’m sure he and Sam will get to nod steelily if lovingly at each other in Avengers: Secret Wars.

The Winter Soldiering of Isaiah Bradley, and His Young Avengers Grandson

Carl Lumbly’s Isaiah Bradley has one of the grimmest backstories in the MCU. A Korean War vet, he and other African-American soldiers were experimented on in an attempt to recreate the Super Soldier Serum that had turned Steve Rogers into Captain America. Though these efforts led to the deaths of most of his comrades, Bradley survived and was imprisoned by his own government for decades. Eventually he was freed, and it was in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier that we learned of his story.

Now, in the trailers for Brave New World, Isaiah appears to have fallen under the control of another malevolent force as he attempts to assassinate Harrison Ford’s President Ross. Was he Winter-Soldiered, in a sense? He’s clearly not doing this by his own accord, but who is controlling him and why do they want Ross dead?

Meanwhile, Bradley has a grandson named Eli. In the comics, Eli is also a member of the Young Avengers and goes by the codename Patriot. Is it possible that he has the Super Soldier Serum coursing through his veins? The MCU sure has been setting up the Young Avengers for a long time now, so if they ever pull the trigger on it, Eli is ready and waiting for the call.

Sharon Carter the Traitor

The once flirty neighbor in The Winter Soldier turned ally and love interest in Civil War, Sharon Carter turned out to be a straight-up villain in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Presumably because she was mad at the government for almost a decade of that fugitive life, the former Agent 13 re-fashioned herself into the Power Broker for reasons that remained mostly off-screen. She wrapped up her time on the show clearly up to no good and planning to use her fresh pardon for fresh crimes.

The loose end factor here is two-fold: Why did she, dear perfect Peggy Carter’s niece, go so bad, and what would it take for her to go good again? She was down to sell super soldier serum to the highest bidder in TFATWS, and the jury is still out on if, as a Captain America character, Sharon even shows up in Brave New World at all. It’s just as likely as it is not. Considering she played such a big part in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, this is a mess that might just stay messy, but who knows, maybe she’s behind whatever serum gives the president his new look. Speaking of which…

General - Secretary - President - Red Hulk Ross

Finally getting past Falcon and the Winter Soldier, but perhaps in the wrong direction… When was the last time we actually saw Thunderbolt Ross on screen? Chronologically speaking, that is. Of course, he was the brutish military man/antagonist and would-be father-in-law to Bruce Banner way back when Banner looked like Edward Norton and Ross looked like the late William Hurt. He subsequently popped up only here and there, most notably as a reminder that the Avengers had rules to follow just like everybody else in Civil War. He chased Natasha Romanoff for a while in the Black Widow solo film (which took place after Civil War but before Avengers: Infinity War), but only saw her again on a hologram conference call during Infinity War. He was also at Tony Stark’s funeral in Endgame, which, by our count, was his most recent, in-universe appearance.

In the meantime, clearly he’s had his sights on politics. President Matthew Ellis held the office for at least two terms in the present tense Marvel films, Dermot Mulroney’s President Ritson was commander-in-chief for at least a Secret Invasion amount of time, but somewhere in there, ol’ Thunderbolt Ross entered the political thicket as well. And got or is about to get Red-Hulked along the way. His MCU origins in The Incredible Hulk leave plenty of options as to the how and when and why of his Hulking, one of which is… well… we guess it’s safe to assume he still has a daughter…

The Doctor Was a Woman, You Jerk, and She Was Betty Ross

We’ve had no shortage of Hulk in the MCU and even no shortage of Hulk romance. The dude’s got a kid and everything now. But do you know who it seems has been completely and rudely forgotten about it? His original flame, Betty Ross. I hope they broke up properly at some point.

They kinda were already broken up the last, and first, time we saw Betty back in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk. She had another boyfriend and everything, but we all know that dude was more of a spare and Bruce just kinda vanished so there can’t have been any closure worth a damn and Bruce was the only Hulk for her and I just want Betty to be happy is all. Anyway, Liv Tyler is said to be returning for Brave New World, so stay tuned there.

Banner and Betty were already broken up the last, and first, time we saw her back in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk.

And while we’re talking about 17-year-old MCU movies, Tim Blake Nelson’s Samuel Sterns, a.k.a. Hulk villain The Leader, is also set to make his return in the film. We’ve got a whole other article and video about this going up this week, so check that out too.

That Celestial Hand

One of the knocks of the MCU since Eternals came out in 2021 – yeah, remember that one? – is that there’s still a giant goddamn hand (and head!) popping out of the ocean. It’s the kind of mind-shattering, “the world doesn’t make any sense anymore” thing that people start religions over, and it’s gotten barely a mention in the years since. Until now!

Based on the trailers, it seems that Marvel is finally revisiting the thing in Brave New World, and it could have a big old nerdy implication for the MCU. Basically, the hand belongs to the cosmic being known as Tiamut, who was – get this – planted by the Celestials millions of years ago as a seed in the center of the Earth. There he grew, feeding off the energy of the human race, and was meant to one day emerge in a not entirely imaginative event called the Emergence, destroying the Earth along the way. (This actually happened in an alternate universe on What If…?) But the Eternals realized this was kind of a sucky thing to do, and so they stopped the Celestial mid-Emerge. Hence giant hand (and head!) sticking out of the Indian Ocean. And hence that age-old Google search term “Why there is a giant statue of a man sticking out of the ocean.” Yes, we have an explainer on that on IGN.

As for why Marvel is finally returning to all of this, as revealed at Comic-Con last summer, it turns out that Tiamut’s body is the source of none other than the precious and super-fake Marvel metal alloy known as adamantium. That moment in the Brave New World trailers when President Ross is almost assassinated? Apparently he’s announcing the adamantium that was recovered from the dead Celestial. Adamantium, of course, is bonded to Wolverine’s skeleton and claws, and the MCU couldn’t use it in the past because the X-Men movie rights were tied up at Fox. But not anymore. As Kevin Feige himself said at Comic-Con, "Just when I think my nerdy life can't get more complete, I heard Harrison Ford say adamantium."

How Messy Is the MCU World Now? Messy as This Recap?

The end of TFATWS featured a typical Captain America inspirational speech, with Captain Wilson encouraging the leaders of the Global Repatriation Council to show some compassion. And Cap himself admitted there are no easy answers to everybody that was blipped, only to return and find other people living in their homes and loved ones having moved on or daughters being like 10 years older somehow instead of just the five years that had gone by (this is an Ant-Man’s daughter in Endgame reference, obviously).

But also, man, none of the other movies seem to have gotten the message. There’ve been almost 20 projects that take place chronologically after TFATWS, and it seems as though Marvel has moved well past being interested in the repercussions of the Blip. Like Sharon Carter, the Flag Smashers, and Baron Zemo (can’t forget about him), it will be interesting to see if Brave New World can live up to being a sequel to The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

Which is to say, can it be a sequel to The Incredible Hulk, The Winter Soldier, Eternals and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier while also answering lingering questions from three of the four previous Avengers movies?

Like we said… it’s a mess out there.

Let us know what you think of the messy Marvel timeline. Does Brave New World have a chance at cleaning it up?

UK Deals: Pokémon TCG 151 Restocked With A Discount On Amazon

This isn't clickbait, Pokémon TCG 151 is available at Amazon right now. Whilst it's also sporting an 18% discount at a tidy £23.94, there's a catch. In order to control stock and to avoid availability being scalped, trainers will need to request an invitation to purchase. This deal is going to require a bit of patience as Amazon grant requests on a rolling basis, which is the same deal when they do this for mad discounts on Black Friday.

Pokémon 151 Booster Bundle

Pokémon TCG: 151 Booster Bundle is the best way to rip packs for this set considering it was a mini set. That means no booster boxes, with other options included Elite Trainer Boxes and various box sets. 151 Booster boxes are going for around £69 on the secondary market right now, so it's 100% worth requesting an invite. You can keep it sealed if you want, but there's every chance you could pull some ridiculous chase cards. Here's some of my favourites I hope to pull.

My Top Pokémon TCG 151 Chase Cards

Bulbasaur might be adorable, but this card won’t blow any other trainers out of the woods. At 70 HP, it’s slightly bulkier than some other Basic Pokémon. Still, Leech Seed’s 20 damage and self-healing effects don’t do much in a competitive setting. However, as a collectible, this Illustration Rare Bulbasaur is stunning.

Venusaur ex is a solid tank in Grass decks, with 340 HP and a built-in healing engine thanks to Tranquil Flower. Healing 60 damage per turn while Active gives it serious longevity and Dangerous Toxwhip hits hard while stacking Confusion and Poison. Its four Retreat Cost is painful, but Venusaur ex can be a frustrating wall to deal with in a control-style deck that wears opponents down.

This Illustration Rare Squirtle, is more of a collector’s piece than a meta pick. Withdraw offers a coin-flip chance at temporary invincibility, and Skull Bash’s 20 damage for two Energy is weak. At 60 HP, it’s not surviving long in competitive play. Still, this artwork is fantastic for collectors and makes for a great display card.

Blastoise ex is an absolute powerhouse. Solid Shell reduces damage taken by 30, making it even harder to take down at 330 HP. Twin Cannons is a monster of an attack, dishing out up to 280 damage when discarding two Basic Water Energy. If you’re running a Water deck with Energy acceleration, this is one of the best finishers available.

At best, Charmander’s Blazing Destruction is situational, only helpful in removing a Stadium. Steady Firebreathing’s 30 damage for two Energy is below average, making this card far from competitive. But as a beautifully illustrated collector’s card, it’s a top pick for fans of Charizard’s evolutionary line.

Charizard ex is an aggressive attacker that thrives on damage output. Brave Wing can hit for 160 damage if Charizard already has damage counters on it, making it a strong early-game attack. Explosive Vortex deals a brutal 330 damage, though discarding three Fire Energy hurts its consistency. In Fire Decks with Energy Recycling, Charizard ex is a very playable card.

If your DOORS code isn’t working, it’s likely due to one of two scenarios. The first is that the code was inputted incorrectly. Make sure you have the code inputted exactly as it is in the Active Codes section above. You can even copy and paste codes directly from this article over to Roblox if you want to make sure you’re inputting them correctly.

The other possibility is the code has expired or you’ve already used it. If you’ve used it, you’ll get a message below the bar reminding you the inputted code has already been redeemed. If you’ve inputted it and it doesn’t recognise the code at all, it likely means it's no longer available to use and is expired.

How to Get More DOORS Codes

If you’re looking to scout out some DOORS codes yourself, the easiest way is through the game’s official Discord. After joining, you’ll be able to hop into the doors-announcements channel to find all the latest codes as they drop.

You can also follow the game’s official X channel, where you’ll sometimes get new code drops straight from the creators.

What is Murder Mystery 2 in Roblox?

Murder Mystery 2 is an asymmetric horror game where you play as one of three roles: an innocent, a murderer or a sheriff. From there, the match plays out similarly to social deduction games like Among Us. The murderer stalks the map, killing unsuspecting innocents, who try to flee to survive. Meanwhile, the sheriff tries to deduce who the killer is so they can shoot them to save the innocents.

Each round ends when the murderer kills all the innocents or is taken down by the sheriff, so you’ll need to be suspicious of everyone, watch your back and be cautious to survive.

What is Pixel Tower Defense in Roblox?

Pixel Tower Defense is a tower defence game with a simple premise. Buy units, take them into tactical scenarios where hundreds of enemies flood the screen and use them to prevent your foes from eliminating your home base. Each scenario is set across a series of rounds, with the end of each round supplying you with cash you can use to build or upgrade your current forces.

Although that seems simple enough, the game will frequently challenge you with harder levels and enemies that exploit your defence, forcing you to think tactically and carefully deliberate on how to spend your accumulated cash and dominate the battlefield.
