Metroid Prime 4 still releasing this year, Nintendo confirms

Last week's Nintendo Direct ended up being quite disappointing. While many of us had hoped for a showing of new first-party games and a release date announcement for Metroid Prime 4, the most recent Direct presentation focused solely on third-party games. As a result, fans have grown concerned that Metroid Prime 4 is going to be delayed, but Nintendo is now putting those fears to rest.

In a statement this week, Nintendo confirmed that Metroid Prime 4 was still on track for a 2025 release. We still don't have an exact release date, but the game should release this holiday season, alongside other major Switch exclusives like Pokémon Legends Z-A, to give Nintendo an end-of-year sales boost.

Metroid Prime 4 was first announced in 2017, just months after the Nintendo Switch first launched. Nintendo quickly went silent, giving very few updates in the years since. That all finally changed this year with the gameplay reveal for Metroid Prime 4, which arrived alongside our first proper look at the new Switch 2 console.

While Metroid Prime 4 will be a major Switch 2 title, it is also releasing for the Switch 1. It is highly recommended that you pick it up on Switch 2 though, as the game will run at 60FPS as standard, with an option for up to 120FPS in docked mode. First-person shooters like Metroid Prime greatly benefit from the extra responsiveness afforded by the higher frame rate.

KitGuru Says: Are you planning on grabbing Metroid Prime 4 later this year? Will you be getting it on Switch 1 or Switch 2?

Cooler Master’s MasterFrame 500 Mesh comes to Europe in September

Today Cooler Master is bringing its latest case to the market. The MasterFrame 500 Mesh takes everything we already liked about the MasterFrame 500, but adds more mesh perforations for improved airflow.

The MasterFrame 500 Mesh is a high-airflow ATX chassis with dual 200mm in the front for intake, as well as room for two 360mm liquid cooling radiators, making it a prime platform for modded builds and custom liquid-cooling loops.

Developed under Cooler Master’s FreeForm 2.0 design philosophy, the MasterFrame 500 Mesh features an exposed exo-structure, mesh panels for stronger airflow, support for Mini-ITX to E-ATX motherboards, and clearance for graphics cards up to 390mm long. ARGB and non-ARGB versions both ship with dual SickleFlow 200mm front fans and a 120mm rear fan. In total, the case supports up to eight fans.

The Cooler Master MasterFrame 500 Mesh will be available in Silver and Black starting in late September for the Europe market.

Thermal Grizzly debuts new DeltaMate liquid cooling accessories

At Computex this summer, Thermal Grizzly announced plans to get into the custom liquid-cooling space with a whole range of DeltaMate blocks and fittings. With the first DeltaMate GPU block nearing release, Thermal Grizzly is readying up for the launch by revealing new details.

Following last week's update on the ROG Astral DeltaMate GPU block, Thermal Grizzly is now detailing its range of fittings. A selection of fittings are crucial for any liquid cooling loop and depending on how you want to run the tubing, you will need different kinds of fittings to hold everything together.

Thermal Grizzly's DeltaMate fittings are CNC-machined from brass, making them particularly durable. Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, and compared to pure copper, it is more corrosion-resistant. At the same time, brass is anodically compatible with other metals. EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber) is used for the O-rings due to its high elasticity and resistance to ozone and UV exposure.

Each DeltaMate water cooling fitting comes in a matte black chromium finish. For those planning a custom loop, there will be nine different types of fittings to choose from, including standard tube fittings, rotary T-shape and 90-degree fittings and extender fittings.

These can all be modularly combined with one another to easily adapt to your chosen tubing layout. As you would expect, both hard tubing and soft tubing is supported, in up to 16mm diameter. Thermal Grizzly has already made the exact dimensions available to download, so you can get straight to planning your loop.

Thermal Grizzly will be launching its new DeltaMate liquid cooling products over the next few months.

KitGuru Says: Are you planning on upgrading to a custom liquid cooling loop?

Gamdias CHIONE P5 360 AIO CPU Cooler Review

We've not reviewed any Gamdias hardware in a while, but we have recently featured some of the company's products in a sponsored build video that you can check out here. In that video, we used a white version of the Gamdias CHIONE P5 360 AIO CPU cooler, which looked cool with its 4.3-inch IPS display and ARGB lighting. Today, however, we take a look at the black version of the CHIONE P5 360 and put it through its paces in a full review.

Features:

  • The pump top is equipped with a 3.4-inch IPS LCD screen with 480 x 480 resolution and 60 Hz refresh rate. The screen can be customised to show real-time system info, as well as custom images and can be manually rotated for always correct orientation.
  • Included fans feature hydraulic bearings and hidden daisy-chained cabling routing so cable clutter is kept away from view, as well as built-in ARGB lighting effects.
  • A high-performance pump features a 12-slot 10-pole motor with rotational speed up to 2700rpm and optimal fluid circulation as well as quiet operation.

Specifications:

  • CPU Socket Compatibility: LGA2066 / 2011-v3 / 2011 / 1851 / 1700 / 1200 / 1151 / 1150 / 1155 / 1156 / AM5 / AM4 / AM3+ / AM3 / AM2+ / AM2 / FM2+ / FM2 / FM1
  • Radiator Material: Aluminium
  • Radiator Dimensions: 396 x 120 x 27 mm
  • Radiator Tube Length: 400mm (Approx)
  • Cold Plate Material: Micro-Skived Copper
  • Pump Connector: 4-Pin PWM
  • VRM Fan: N/A
  • Fan Dimensions: 120 x 120 x 25 mm
  • Fan Speed (PWM): 400 – 2200 RPM±10%
  • Fan Max Airflow: 81.81 CFM
  • Fan Max Air Pressure: 3.15 mmH2O
  • Noise (dBA): 11 – 34.91 dBA
  • Fan Bearing: Hydraulic
  • Fan Connector: 4-Pin PWM
  • LCD Screen: 3.4-inch IPS
  • Warranty: ?

Gamdias ships the CHIONE P5 in a cardboard box with an image of the cooler, logo and a brief description of features on the front, with more info and specifications listed on the back. Inside, contents are packed into a cardboard crate for protection during shipping; the accessories/installation hardware come sorted into plastic bags.

The Gamdias fans included with the cooler have a PWM speed range up to 2300 rpm with a hydraulic bearing and opaque fan blades that illuminate with ARGB lighting once the cooler is powered up. Cables are daisy-chained from the factory, connectors are concealed under the anti-vibration rubbers. The fans have very square frames, which should help with static pressure on radiators.

The radiator used in the Gamdias CHIONE P5 is a standard 27mm thick aluminium radiator, very common in closed-loop AIO systems. It has a dense fin pitch, low evaporation rubber tubing with braided sleeving is fixed at the radiator side and the radiator is covered in a smooth satin finish black coating that looks high quality.

With the screen fitted, the CPU block is quite large. The 3.4-inch IPS LCD screen features 480×480 resolution and a 60Hz refresh rate. It is removable and attaches to the CPU block magnetically. Tubing enters the CPU block on 90-degree rotary fittings, while the cold plate base is manufactured from micro-skived copper.

Gamdias uses all standard wiring connections in the CHIONE P5 so the pump and fans connect directly to 4-pin PWM headers and the ARGB lighting uses 3-pin 5V connections, however, there are also SATA power, a USB 2.0 motherboard header connection and a microswitch to scroll through preset ARGB options, so the wiring is quite bulky and could be difficult to manage and make a neat looking finish when installed.

Included with the cooler is all the installation hardware needed to install the CHIONE P5 on all current Intel and AMD desktop CPUs, including Intel LGA 1851/1700 and older, plus AMD AM5/4/3/2 and FM1/2. Also included is a tube of thermal compound, as there is none pre-applied to the cold plate and the physical installation guide.

When the cooler is powered up the fan blades illuminate in ARGB lighting, there's a small line of RGB under the LCD screen, which gives a nice glow and the screen powers up when USB is connected to the motherboard. The ARGB lighting effects on the fans are good, it's bright, well diffused and there's little light bleed from individual LEDs.

SK Hynix surpasses Samsung to become the world’s top-selling memory maker

In a surprising shift, SK Hynix has officially overtaken Samsung Electronics to become the world's number one memory producer by sales. The historic moment, a first since the company's founding over four decades ago, is a direct result of the explosive demand for AI and SK Hynix's winning bet on the high-performance memory that fuels it.

According to Q2 2025 market data from industry trackers like Counterpoint and Omdia (via Tom's Hardware), SK Hynix captured 36.2% of the market with $9.66 billion in sales, edging out Samsung's $8.94 billion and 33.5% share. The driving force behind this is SK Hynix's early and aggressive push into HBM3 and HBM3E, which has made it the primary supplier for Nvidia's AI accelerators, currently the most lucrative segment of the entire memory market. At the same time, the traditional consumer DRAM and NAND markets are still relevant for SK Hynix, as it posted its highest operating profit in over two years.

Samsung, long considered the undisputed leader, appears to have been caught on the back foot. Reports have been circulating for months about delays in getting its own HBM3E certified with key clients like Nvidia. This has reportedly cost the company significant market share in the AI space, forcing it to compete in the slower-growing legacy memory markets where it still leads.

The effects of this change are even being felt on the ground in South Korea, where a recent poll showed that SK Hynix has now surpassed Samsung as the most desirable employer for university tech students for the first time. Looking ahead, SK Hynix is already working on HBM4 and investing heavily in advanced packaging to tighten its grip on the AI memory market.

KitGuru says: This is an interesting piece of news, as a report recently came out claiming that Samsung turned down an offer from Nvidia's CEO to partner up on HBM and foundry in 2018. If Samsung had taken Nvidia up on that offer, it would have benefitted greatly from the current booming AI GPU market.

AOC launches 4th Gen QD-OLED Agon Pro AG326UZD gaming monitor

AOC is launching the Agon Pro AG326UZD, a new 31.5-inch display built around a new-generation Samsung QD-OLED panel, combining a native 4K resolution with a blistering 240Hz refresh rate.

The Samsung QD-OLED panel used on the Agon Pro AG326UZD (via DisplaySpecifications) promises a 1.5 million:1 static contrast ratio, 450 nits of peak brightness, and VESA DisplayHDR 400 True Black and ClearMR 13000 certifications. Performance is top-tier, with the 240Hz refresh rate backed by a near-instantaneous 0.03ms GtG response time. The panel also offers true 10-bit colour and covers 99% of the DCI-P3 gamut, ensuring vibrant visuals.

Driving this panel, AOC has equipped the monitor with a full suite of modern connectivity. The inclusion of DisplayPort 2.1 is crucial, providing enough bandwidth for the 4K/240Hz signal without compromise. Two HDMI 2.1 ports join it for consoles and other devices, and a USB-C port with DP Alt Mode. A built-in USB hub and dual 8W speakers are also included for convenience.

The monitor sits on a fully ergonomic stand that offers height, tilt, swivel, and even 90-degree pivot adjustment, which is a nice touch for a 32-inch screen. It also features standard Agon gaming features like crosshair overlays and shadow control, which can be configured through the AOC G-Menu software.

KitGuru says: If you're interested in the Agon Pro AG326UZD, ensure that you're buying the right monitor. AOC also has the AG326UD, which is very similar but uses an OLED panel instead of a QD-OLED one.

Darksiders 4 will finally let you play as all four Horsemen of the Apocalypse

After years of waiting and speculation, the apocalypse is officially back on. During its 2025 showcase event, THQ Nordic closed its show with the announcement fans have been waiting for: Darksiders 4 is in development. The sequel is being helmed by Gunfire Games (Remnant series), and the headline feature is the one the community has been requesting for over a decade – 4-player co-op.

The brief teaser trailer and accompanying story details confirm that Darksiders 4 will finally deliver on the promise made at the very end of the first game, picking up the story to continue the journey of the now-united Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse as they fight to restore balance on a post-apocalyptic Earth.

The game is described as a third-person action-adventure, retaining the series' signature blend of fast-paced combat, environmental puzzles, and fluid traversal. According to the first store listings, the entire experience will be playable in single-player, 2-4 player online co-op, and even local split-screen co-op. As such, we assume that all Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse will be playable: War, Death, Fury, and Strife.

THQ Nordic has not yet announced a release date for the game, but wishlists for Darksiders 4 are now live on PC and console storefronts.

KitGuru says: Have you played the previous Darksiders games? Which one was your favourite?

DICE promises no ‘over the top’ skins for Battlefield 6

In recent years, crossover skins for shooters like Call of Duty have become increasingly more ridiculous, with plenty of celebrity guest appearances, alongside immersion-breaking crossovers with film and TV IP. If you are a Battlefield fan, it sounds like you won't have to worry about any of that with Battlefield 6, as the game's design director has promised to keep the game ‘grounded'.

A big talking point from the Battlefield 6 multiplayer reveal event was DICE's commitment to a more realistic aesthetic, particularly when it comes to cosmetics. Design Director Shashank Uchil told DBLTAP that the new game will not be following the trend of wild crossover skins that have become common elsewhere.

This back-to-basics approach appears to be the guiding principle for the entire game. EA Vice President, Vince Zampella, recently echoed these sentiments, explicitly calling Battlefield 6 a “spiritual successor” to the franchise's heyday. It seems the team is focused on recapturing the gritty, infantry-focused feeling that made Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 so beloved by the community.

This is all likely part of EA's strategy to meet its reported, and very ambitious, goal of attracting 100 million players to the new title. For a fanbase that has been vocal in its desire for a return to form, this news is very welcoming. Battlefield 6 is set to launch on October 10th for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X.

KitGuru says: For Battlefield 6, do you prefer a more realistic approach to cosmetics or something more akin to what COD has been doing?

Ubisoft reportedly threatened to sue voice actor over Black Flag Remake comments

Over the past couple of years, there have been consistent rumours surrounding an unannounced remake of Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag. It looked like Ubisoft was primed for a reveal this summer when a lead voice actor hinted at the project being real, but don't expect any further comment, as Ubisoft has begun threatening lawsuits.

Matt Ryan, the voice of Edward Kenway, the main protagonist of Assassin's Creed Black Flag, had told fans at a convention earlier this year that they ‘may need to beat' the game again soon, hinting at the rumoured remake. In a more recent interaction with fans, Ryan explained that while he did talk about the game before, Ubisoft quickly threatened to sue him, so now, he's staying tight-lipped.

Assassin's Creed fan account, The Hidden One, and VGC, both reported on Ryan's updated comments, in which he is recorded as saying: “I was being very free and open, but I didn’t know that they actually were recording me on their phone. And then the company threatened to sue me. Yeah, so I say nothing.”.

The Assassin's Creed Black Flag remake has been known about since at least 2023. The game is believed to be in development at Ubisoft Singapore, but there is no release date yet. Ubisoft has had major issues getting its remakes and remasters out of the door. For instance, it has been more than five years since the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake was announced, and it has vanished ever since. It has also been years since the Splinter Cell remake was announced, and that project also appears to be no closer to release.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: Considering how long it has taken for Ubisoft to develop its other remakes, it could be years before the company is ready to ‘officially' talk about the new version of Black Flag.

Bioshock 4 delayed, creative director and studio head removed

In recent years, we have consistently heard rumours about a new BioShock game. Last year, 2K Games officially confirmed that BioShock 4 was in development, which had fans eagerly anticipating a full reveal of the game. Unfortunately, it seems that right after that official announcement, the game fell back into development hell.

According to Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, this year, the new BioShock game underwent another reboot. The game was recently shown to senior executives, and they were not happy with what was shown, leading to another shake-up of the BioShock team behind-the-scenes. Specifically, the game's narrative was a main point of contention and as a result, the script for the game is being reworked.

Following the internal review of the game, 2K Games also let go of the Cloud Chamber studio head, Kelley Gilmore, and the game's creative director, Hogarth de la Plante, has been moved from the development team over to the publishing side of the 2K business. Cloud Chamber may also undergo layoffs, as studio leaders told staff in a recent meeting that the company needs to become “more agile and efficient”, a phrase that typically precedes job cuts.

In an official response to the story, 2K Games offered Bloomberg a statement, saying “right now, we have a good game, but we are committed to delivering a great one”.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: The new BioShock game has been in development for at least six years already. Unfortunately, fans are going to have to keep waiting for another year or two.

Titan Quest 2 gets surprise early access release

It has been decades since TItan Quest first released. The original game landed in 2006, giving players an alternative to the massive ARPGs of the time, like Diablo. Last night during the THQ Nordic showcase, Titan Quest 2 was shadowdropped, giving fans an entire new game to explore.

Titan Quest 2 is now available on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in early access form. The surprise sequel includes a combat system overhaul with real-time dodging and counterattacks, new factions that influence gear drops and questlines, a huge graphical upgrade and the addition of new mechanics like Dynamic World Events to give players additional ways to level up beyond the main campaign missions.

THQ Nordic says Titan Quest 2 should take around 20-hours to beat on a first run in its current state. However, the current top-rated Steam user review currently makes the claim that it can all be finished in six hours. As always with ARPGs, your playtime will vary based on your goals. If you are looking to ‘max out' your character, then you'll be spending much more time blasting through repeatable content to acquire gear with the perfect stat rolls. If you are someone who just cares about main story, then you'll be finished with the game much faster than someone who is primarily interested in endgame content.

Titan Quest 2 does not currently have an early access roadmap, so it is unclear how long it will take to reach V1.0, but we expect to see regular updates in the months ahead.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: Typically Early Access projects remain in early access for at least a year or two before re-launching. I would expect TItan Quest 2 to follow a similar timeline.

Turtle Beach takes on SCUF with new Victrix Pro modular controller

Turtle Beach's esports brand, Victrix, has today unveiled the successor to its Victrix Pro BFG modular controller. The new Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded builds on the original's modular design, adding two of the most fan-requested features: Hall Effect thumbsticks and triggers.

The headline upgrade for the Reloaded is the adoption of Hall Effect technology. Both of the controller's thumbsticks now use non-contact magnetic sensors, which should eliminate stick drift that plagues traditional potentiometer-based sticks over time. The triggers have also been upgraded to Hall Effect sensors, integrated into the versatile 5-stop Clutch Trigger system for enhanced precision and durability.

The Pro BFG Reloaded's signature modularity returns, allowing gamers to swap modules to their preferred layout. For the fighting game community, Victrix has introduced a redesigned 6-button Fightpad module with a new ergonomic design, placing key buttons within easier reach. The controller also includes a variety of swappable thumbstick caps, D-pads, and analogue stick gates for deep customisation.

Beyond the new hardware, the controller retains its pro-grade feature set, including four mappable back buttons and the highly customisable Clutch Triggers with a hair-trigger mode for faster response in shooters. The Xbox version comes with a lifetime license for Dolby Atmos, while the PlayStation version supports the console's native 3D Audio through the 3.5 mm jack. Available in black and white, the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded is now available for £179.99/€199.99 in the UK and EU. In the US, it's making its debut at the EVO Vegas tournament, with a full retail launch on September 28th.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru says: That much for a controller might seem a bit too much, but considering its rather unique feature set, we're not surprised. The modularity, Hall effect sticks, and wireless connectivity make the Victrix Pro BFG Reloaded a controller like few available.

MSI unveils new MPG CoreLiquid AIO coolers with IPS displays

MSI has just unveiled its latest AIO liquid cooler, the MPG Coreliquid P13 series, which places a heavy emphasis on achieving a clean, minimalist aesthetic through a simplified installation experience for PC builders. The new cooler aims to eliminate the usual cable clutter with a host of new “EZ DIY” features.

The most striking visual element of the P13 is its pump block, which is inspired by a water droplet and features a 2.1-inch IPS screen under a single piece of curved glass. This screen is highly customisable via MSI Center, allowing users to display hardware stats, custom GIFs and animations, or even use it as a fully extended desktop display.

On the performance front, the P13 is equipped with MSI's new Cycloblade 9 fans, which are designed for high static pressure to push air through the radiator fins effectively. This is paired with an updated, screwless full-plane copper base that uses 0.1 mm microchannels to improve heat transfer directly over the CPU's heat source.

Where the P13 aims to stand out is in its builder-friendly design. The headline feature is “Streamline”, a new technology that integrates all of the pump block's power and signal cables directly into the main braided tubing, leaving no visible wires coming from the pump itself. This is complemented by a pre-installed “Uni Bracket” that supports both AMD and Intel sockets out of the box and pre-installed, daisy-chainable fans to reduce the cable mess.

Moreover, the P13 AIO coolers feature a new “EZ Conn-Design” that uses a single proprietary JAF_1 header to handle the AIO. However, an adapter cable is included to split this into standard fan and ARGB headers. The MPG Coreliquid P13 Series is available in both black and white and should be hitting retailers now, although MSI has not yet confirmed the final pricing.

Out of the box, cooling is handled by four pre-installed 140 mm fans that are a beefy 28 mm thick, which should allow them to move a good amount of air at lower RPMs. For those looking to go the liquid cooling route, the Helios II offers extensive support, with room for two 360mm radiators simultaneously in the front and top of the case. An integrated hub provides control for up to six PWM fans and six ARGB components.

Asus has designed this case with the DIY builder in mind, boasting enough room for massive EATX motherboards and the largest graphics cards on the market, with clearance for GPUs up to 450 mm long. The build process is simplified with a one-key release for the side panel, a tool-free PCIe attachment system, a removable PSU bracket, and a generous 33 mm of space behind the motherboard tray for cable management. The front I/O is also getting a major upgrade. It now features four USB-A 3.0 ports alongside two 20 Gbps USB-C ports. One of these USB-C ports is capable of delivering up to 60W of power.

Over 96% of Switch 2 buyers also picked up Mario Kart World

The $80 price tag for Mario Kart World sent shockwaves through the gaming industry, but that has not stopped it from selling. At the end of June, Nintendo had sold six million Switch 2 consoles and almost every single one of those customers also owns a copy of the new Mario Kart game.

Nintendo has revealed sales data from the Switch 2 launch month. In June, the new console sold 5.82 million units, and of that number, 5.63 million also bought a copy of Mario Kart World, either as part of the £429 bundle, or as a separate purchase.

This figure puts Mario Kart World at an over 96% attach rate, a figure that should drop as more Switch 2 units make it out into the wild and more console bundles release. The Mario Kart World Switch 2 bundle will be replaced in October with a new Pokémon Legends Z-A bundle.

Unfortunately for all of the other publishers supporting the Switch 2 at launch, Mario Kart World ate up the vast majority of sales. Around 8.67 million Switch 2 games were sold in June, and as we now know, almost 6 million of those sales were just for Mario Kart World.

KitGuru Says: As impressed as I've been with the Switch 2 hardware-wise, the software line-up is currently leaving a lot to be desired. For a start, far more Switch 1 exclusives need to be updated, particularly stuff like Bayonetta 3 and the Xenoblade games, as they ran absolutely terribly on the original hardware, with sub-HD resolutions.

Intel XeSS 2 adds support for AMD and Nvidia GPUs

Alongside the launch of its Arc Battlemage graphics cards, Intel introduced its own Frame Generation and Low Latency modes for XeSS. Today, with the release of XeSS 2.1 (and the respective SDK), Intel is making those features available to everyone, including gamers with AMD Radeon and Nvidia GeForce graphics cards.

Previously, XeSS Frame Generation was exclusive to Intel's own Arc GPUs. Now, once developers integrate the new libraries into their games, players with compatible hardware from any brand will be able to enable both XeSS upscaling and XeSS Frame Generation.

The key requirement for this cross-vendor support is a GPU that supports Shader Model 6.4. For Team Green, this means any card from the GeForce GTX 10-series onwards is compatible. For Team Red, you'll need a Radeon RX 5000-series card or newer to enable XeSS. Moreover, Intel did note that for non-Intel GPUs, the XeSS Low Latency (XeLL) feature is dependent on Frame Generation, meaning you can't enable it on its own.

With both AMD's FSR and now Intel's XeSS offering a full suite of upscaling and frame generation tools that work on a wide range of hardware, Nvidia's DLSS suite is still locked to its cards, and it won't likely change in the future. XeSS 2 being vendor-agnostic is undoubtedly a win for gamers, who will now have more choice than ever when it comes to performance-boosting technologies.

KitGuru says: As games are updated to support the new XeSS 2 libraries, we should start to see a whole new range of titles offering frame generation to a much wider audience of PC gamers.

Bandai Namco is remaking a major PS2 classic

The trend of reviving beloved 3D platformers from the PS2 era continues, and the last Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase delivered a welcome surprise for fans of the genre. Bandai Namco has officially announced Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac, a full remake of the 2002 classic, which is set to launch next month.

Just to be clear, this isn't just a simple HD port. Bandai Namco is billing Re-Pac as a complete rebuild from the ground up. The remake introduces several new quality-of-life features, including a landing indicator to help with tricky jumps and optional mission objectives that unlock cosmetic items for Pac-Man. Perhaps most interestingly, it adds a new co-op mode where a second player can control a helpful drone assistant (much like in Super Mario Galaxy).

For those who missed it back in the day, the original Pac-Man World 2 was a well-regarded platformer that landed a respectable 73 on Metacritic. While it may not have reached the heights of Sly Raccoon, Ratchet and Clank, or Jak and Daxter, it was a solid and memorable entry in the vast sea of platformers from that generation. Its revival follows in the footsteps of other cult classics like SpongeBob: Battle for Bikini Bottom and, of course, the first Pac-Man World Re-Pac.

Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac is scheduled to launch on September 26th and will be available on PC via Steam, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch and Switch 2.

Square Enix unveils new HD-2D action RPG for Switch 2

During the last Nintendo Direct presentation, Square Enix delivered a surprise new IP from a fan-favourite studio. Team Asano, the acclaimed developers behind the Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default series, have revealed The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, a brand-new action RPG built in their signature HD-2D art style.

The game follows the journey of Elliot and his fairy companion, Faie, as they explore the continent of Philabeldia. While their home, the Kingdom of Huther, remains safe under a protective spell, the wider continent has been invaded by animal tribes. The duo's adventure begins when they set out to investigate a mysterious set of ruins just outside the castle walls.

Unlike Team Asano's previous turn-based titles, The Millennium Tales is an action RPG. Players will wield seven different weapon types, from swords and sickles to arrows and chains. Combat can be customised through a “Magicite” system, which allows players to equip various abilities and buffs. As for Faie, she isn't just a sidekick. The character is fully playable. In single-player, you can switch between controlling Elliot and Faie at any time, with the fairy companion able to fight and gather items independently. The entire game also supports two-player co-op, with each player taking control of one of the heroes.

Square Enix has already released a demo for the game on the Switch 2 eShop to gather feedback, so you can try it out if you're interested. The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is scheduled for a full release in 2026 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and the Switch 2.

SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance demo available now

Back during the 2023 Game Awards, SEGA officially announced that they would be bringing back many of their classic franchises, including but not limited to Jet Set Radio; Crazy Taxi; Golden Axe and more. One of the most exciting revivals is the upcoming SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance. Ahead of the game’s launch next month, SEGA has now released a demo for all to enjoy.

For the uninitiated, SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance is a brand new 2D action platformer based on SEGA’s classic and now nearly 40-year-old franchise.

Developed by LizardCube (known best for their work on the excellent Streets of Rage 4), the platformer offers a stylish and attractive “hand-drawn look” alongside slick combat across “more than a dozen unique and visually striking stages.”

If you’ve yet to be convinced, or can’t wait until the 29th of August, a free demo has now been released across all available platforms, featuring “an enhanced version of the first stage, Oboro Village” alongside a replayable arcade mode.

You can find the SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance demo right HERE on Steam.

Slime Rancher 2 is leaving Early Access this September

Slime Rancher 2 is the sequel to the cult-hit farming simulator which sees you grow and take care of different types of Slimes. Launched in Early Access all the way back in 2022, the sequel has adopted a similar development cycle to the first game – to great success. Now, after nearly 3 years in Early Access, Slime Rancher 2 is almost ready to hit 1.0.

Making the announcement on their Steam page, the team at Monomi Park wrote: “Save the date, Ranchers! Slime Rancher 2 is officially leaving Early Access!”

Arriving on the 23rd of September, version 1.0 will bring with it a number of major additions, including:

  • Drones “now with a Quantum twist”
  • New gadgets
  • New upgrades
  • New regions
  • “And more”

Of course, this is alongside all of the many updates and additions which have already been implemented over the past few years.

Since its Early Access release, Slime Rancher 2 has received just as much praise as its predecessor, with the game currently sitting at a 94% Very Positive all-time rating on Steam.

Though not arriving until January next year, those on PS5 or Xbox wanting a physical edition of Slime Rancher 2 will be able to pre-order from IAm8Bit starting now.

KitGuru says: Have you been following Slime Rancher 2’s Early Access journey? Will you be hopping into the game this September? How do you think the sequel compares to its predecessor? Let us know down below.
