Resident Evil 5 gets mysterious ESRB rating for Xbox Series X|S
Last month, we reported on a new listing published by the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (ESRB) for multiple Resident Evil games, including RE6 and the Origins Collection for the Xbox Series X|S. It seems Capcom might be planning to bring a flood of Resident Evil titles to the current gen as yet another ESRB listing has popped up – this time for RE5.
As reported by Wario64 via Bluesky, the ESRB’s website was recently updated to include a listing for Resident Evil 5 coming to the ‘Xbox Series’ of consoles.
While on its own it could be viewed as a possible error, this latest listing follows on from a bunch of other RE titles which leaked in the same manner a few weeks ago, with those ESRB ratings pertaining to Resident Evil 6; the Origins Collection and RE7 – suggesting that some sort of series-wide re-release could be in the works.
All of these games are of course playable on both the Xbox Series X|S and PS5, however – aside from RE7 – the games are all backwards compatible versions of their 8th-gen releases; and so it would perhaps be nice to have full 4K60fps upgrades for these titles.
We will have to wait and see what Capcom’s plans wind up being; though with the recent increase in activity we might not have to wait long.
KitGuru says: What do you think Capcom is planning? Would you want basic remasters for these games, or should they also get more comprehensive full-on remakes? Let us know your thoughts down below.
