Colorful capacitor blocks on wooden table, close-up with purple and blue lighting effects.

The popular gaming accessories maker, Genki, has a surprising accessory for PC gamers, which adds a lot of convenience to the desk. The company made a charging hub called Moonbase, which aims to serve as a hub for powering and charging multiple devices at the same time. While the concept isn't new at all, the Moonbase is probably a unique and one of the most premium superchargers for PC setups. While it appears to be excellent for enthusiast PC setups, it can also be used in multiple instances, such as console and productivity setups, as well as in offices. Upon […]

Battlefield 6 anti-cheat tackled over 300K cheaters during beta weekend

DICE and EA are looking to take cheaters more seriously than ever before with Battlefield 6. The new game will include a new anti-cheat system and so far, it appears to be doing a very good job, resulting in hundreds of thousands of bans during the open beta weekend.

The first open beta weekend for Battlefield 6 just ended and DICE has already dealt with an unprecedented number of cheaters. In a forum post, the SPEAR anti-cheat team confirmed that the system blocked over 300,000 attempted cheaters.

Here are all the stats shared from the beta weekend:

  • Javelin has prevented 330,000 attempts to cheat or tamper with anti-cheat controls.
  • You’ve reported 44,000 instances of potential cheaters during day one and another 60,000 so far today.
  • We are already using these with our own Gameplay Integrity team to add and improve our detections for Battlefield 6. They are also working with the Battlefield Positive Play team, to actively remove those reported we confirm to be cheaters.

There will be a second open beta weekend taking place for Battlefield 6 later this week. The good news is that the anti-cheat system is already taking care of the common cheating methods, but cheat makers will always find an exploit to get around protections, so the developers will need to stay vigilante and constantly monitor cheats hitting forums and marketplaces.

KitGuru Says: Did you play much Battlefield 6 over the weekend? Did you encounter any issues with suspected cheaters?

Ubisoft making Far Cry TV show with Mythic Quest creator

Ubisoft and Netflix recently confirmed that an Assassin's Creed TV series would soon be going into production. Now, it appears that one of Ubisoft's other major franchises, Far Cry, is due to get the same treatment.

According to a now deleted post on Ubisoft's website, which was later preserved on Reddit, Ubisoft's Far Cry series is in development at FX, with Rob McElhenney of ‘It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' set to co-create it. McElhenney has worked with Ubisoft previously on the Apple TV+ series ‘Mythic Quest'.

Aside from co-creating, McElhenney is also expected to have an acting role in the show, but no specific roles have been confirmed so far. The Far Cry series is expected to be an anthology series, with each season having its own self-contained story, with fresh characters each time. This is also how the Far Cry games work, with each game taking place in a new setting, with new heroes, villains and side characters.

It is unclear when the series will be officially announced, Ubisoft leaked the announcement early via its website, so we would expect a proper announcement before the end of the month.

KitGuru Says: Do you think Far Cry will work well as a TV show adaptation?

Blizzard’s head of Diablo leaves after five years

Blizzard is undergoing more major changes behind the scenes. Last week, the company's head of Diablo, Rod Fergusson, announced that he was leaving the studio after five years at the helm of all things Diablo related.

Fergusson had previously worked at Epic Games, before moving to Microsoft to found The Coalition, the studio in charge of the Gears of War IP. After the release of Gears 5, Fergusson moved to Blizzard to take on a leadership role in the Diablo team. After successfully shipping Diablo 4 and overseeing nine seasons worth of new content, he is now stepping down from Blizzard.

In a post on social media, Fergusson confirmed his departure from Blizzard saying: “After five years of driving the Diablo franchise forward with four big launches, it’s time for me to step away from Blizzard/Microsoft, sword in hand, and see what’s next”.

In a separate statement, Blizzard president, Johanna Faries, confirmed the news, saying: “Guiding a franchise like Diablo takes rare talent, vision, and collaboration. Thank you, Rod, for bringing all of those in spades.”

It is unclear who will be next in line to take on the role as head of the Diablo franchise. Currently, Blizzard is working on the game's tenth season, and plans to release a second paid story expansion in 2026.

KitGuru Says: Hopefully whoever takes over Diablo from here can get Diablo 4 into a more consistent state. Since launch, every other season has been poorly received, so starting off with two good seasons in a row would be a great start.

EA shot down pitch for Dragon Age remaster, according to former BioWare dev

BioWare is in a very tough spot at the moment, having released two critical and commercial flops in Anthem (2018) and Dragon Age: The Veilguard (2024). In an effort to try and turn things around a bit, BioWare had pitched a set of remasters for the original Dragon Age games, but EA appears to have no interest in sinking anymore money into the IP.

Mark Darrah, a BioWare veteran who worked on Dragon Age and Anthem, recently spoke in an interview with YouTuber, MrMattyPlays. In the interview, Darrah confirmed that the Dragon Age team had tried to pitch a remastered trilogy to EA on several occasions but was rejected each time, even after the success of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition.

Darrah explains that due to its fantasy setting and the original game's tactical-RPG style, executives at EA don't look at Dragon Age Origins as a product with much ‘mainstream' potential: “EA wants mainstream success and it's hard for corporate people to look at a game like Dragon Age: Origins, which is super nerdy, not very attractive looking, and say ‘this is a mainstream game'”.

Darrah added that EA has been “against remasters”, which does appear to be true. To date, EA has released very few remasters/remakes, which is why the Mass Effect trilogy re-release ended up being such a big deal. If BioWare's plans for Dragon Age Remastered had gone ahead, then the first three games in the series would have been re-released under new ‘Champions trilogy' branding.

Moving forward, Darrah expects BioWare to remain a one-project studio, as internal fights over resources have had a hugely negative impact on the studio.

Dragon Age, while popular, has never been as big as Mass Effect for BioWare and following the messy release of the previous Dragon Age game, it now seems likely that BioWare's primary focus moving forward will be on Mass Effect 5 and future Mass Effect games.

KitGuru Says: Hopefully BioWare can survive for long enough to release Mass Effect 5. If the project hits hurdles and misses milestones, it is entirely possible that EA cuts its losses and shuts the studio down due to mounting losses.

Intel Nova Lake Mobile processors may pack up to 28 CPU cores

While Intel's focus for the remainder of this year is on the launch of its Panther Lake mobile platform, the first detailed specifications for its successor have already begun to surface. A new leak from the reliable tipster gives us a full breakdown of the planned configurations for the 2026 Nova Lake mobile lineup, from high-end HX-series chips down to ultra-low-power U-series models.

The Nova Lake generation is set to introduce a new set of core microarchitectures. According to recent rumours, we can expect to see “Coyote Cove” P-Cores and “Arctic Wolf” E-Cores, which will be paired with “Skymont-based” low-power E-Cores on the SoC tile. On the graphics side, the integrated GPU will be powered by the Xe3 ‘Celestial' architecture.

The leak detailing the entire mobile stack comes from Jaykihn (via videocardz). At the top, we have what seems to be the Nova Lake-HX series, which will reportedly feature up to 28 CPU cores (8P+16E+4LP) paired with a modest 4-core Xe3 iGPU. The mainstream Nova Lake-H series should balance CPU and GPU performance with up to 16 cores (4P+8E+4LP) and a 12-core Xe3 iGPU. Alternatively, there's a 4-core Xe3 iGPU variant. Finally, the lower-power Nova Lake-U series will drop the standard E-cores entirely, offering up to 8 cores (4P+4LP) to maximise battery life and up to four Xe3 iGPU cores.

Of course, with the launch still over a year away, these plans could change. For now, all eyes are on Panther Lake, which is expected to launch in H2 2025 as the debut platform for Intel's 18A process node. Nova Lake should only come the year after.

KitGuru says: What are your expectations for Nova Lake Mobile? Do you think Intel can recover its flair with the upcoming CPU architectures?

AMD quietly launches the Radeon RX 7400 graphics card

Just days after unveiling the low-power Radeon Pro W7400 workstation card, it appears AMD has also quietly launched its gaming counterpart, the Radeon RX 7400. This new entry-level RDNA 3 desktop card has surfaced on AMD's website, but don't expect to find it on retail shelves, as this one is likely destined for the OEM and system integrator market.

According to the official product page (via Notebookcheck), the RX 7400 is designed for gaming and streaming at 1080p. It's built on the same “Navi 33” GPU as the W7400, featuring 28 CUs, which translates to 1,792 Stream Processors, 56 AI Accelerators, and 28 Ray Accelerators. While it supports all the features of the RDNA 3 architecture, its performance will be modest, as suggested by its 43W GPU power rating.

This card is not a product for the DIY market. It has already been spotted inside a Dell pre-built system, paired with one of Intel's latest Core Ultra 200 series processors. Its primary purpose is to serve as a discrete GPU upgrade over the integrated graphics found in modern CPUs. While it won't be a performance monster in games, it will offer a decent improvement over any desktop iGPU.

As an OEM-exclusive part, the Radeon RX 7400 doesn't have an official MSRP for consumers. But if it does find its way to the retail market, expect it to go below the £150 mark.

KitGuru says: We know the Radeon RX 7400 won't be topping any performance charts. Still, as an entry-level GPU, it will do its job.

AMD nearing launch for FSR Redstone

AMD has just released FSR 3.1.4, and while on the surface it looks like another iterative update with bug fixes and a new SDK, the strategy behind it appears to be far more ambitious. This latest version is reportedly the foundation for “FSR Redstone”, AMD's upcoming suite of AI-powered graphics technologies, which could be enabled in existing games running the latest FSR via a future driver update without direct developer intervention.

First teased at Computex, the FSR Redstone suite is AMD's answer to Nvidia's DLSS 4. This new suite includes four key components: ML Super Resolution (effectively FSR 4), ML Frame Generation, ML Ray Regeneration (a competitor to Ray Reconstruction for improving RT quality), and Neural Radiance Caching (accelerates path tracing). These AI-driven features are designed to boost both performance and image quality in the most demanding games.

The foundation for this new tech is being laid with the recent FSR 3.1.4 update. In the blog post, AMD's Alexander Blake-Davies confirmed that this version includes a “signed, easily upgradable DLL” that supports a driver-based upgrade path. This means games that implement FSR 3.1.4 can potentially have Redstone features enabled by AMD via a simple driver update in the future, without requiring a new patch from the game developer.

The not-so-good news is the hardware requirements. AMD has stated that FSR Redstone will only be officially supported on the RX 9000 series. This will likely be disappointing news for RDNA 3 and older card owners, who have come to expect wide hardware support from FSR. Of course, given the history of the PC modding community, it may only be a matter of time before someone finds a way to make it work on unsupported hardware.

In addition to the launch of FSR 3.1.4, AMD also released a new Unreal Engine 5.6 plugin to make it easier for developers to integrate the latest FSR into their games. Lastly, the red team also updated its Radeon Anti-Lag 2 plugin to support Unreal Engine 5.6.

KitGuru says: Do you think FSR Redstone will be able to compete against DLSS 4?

id Software shadow drops Heretic + Hexen remaster at QuakeCon

QuakeCon took place over the weekend and as usual, Bethesda had some surprises in store. Over the past couple of years, Bethesda has used QuakeCon has a platform to announce remasters for several of its classic shooters and QuakeCon 2025 was no different.

Bethesda's id Software has teamed up with Nightdive Studios once again for a new remaster. Previously, this partnership has resulted in remasters for the original DOOM and its sequel, as well as Quake and Quake 2. This time around, they went with a pair of slightly lesser known classics in the id Software library – Heretic and Hexen.

The Heretic  + Hexen remaster bundle is now available. The games, which originally released in 1994 and 1995, have been upgraded with support for higher resolutions (up to 4K), and higher frame rates, with up to 120FPS on supported console hardware, while PC gamers can push further beyond.

The games both support mods, and online multiplayer for up to 16 players, so you can jump into fan-favourite custom maps, or jump into multiplayer lobbies for some classic arena shooter action.

Here is everything included in the Heretic + Hexen remastered bundle, which is selling for £13.50 on Steam:

  • Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders
  • Hexen: Beyond Heretic
  • Hexen: Deathkings of the Dark Citadel
  • Two all-new episodes created in collaboration between individuals at id Software + Nightdive Studios:
  • Heretic: Faith Renewed
  • Hexen: Vestiges of Grandeur

KitGuru Says: Will you be picking up this new remastered bundle? Did you ever play the original games?

Battlefield 6 Open Beta breaks Call of Duty record on Steam

It seems the hype for Battlefield's return is very real. The Battlefield 6 Open Beta has been a success on PC this weekend, hitting a peak of over half a million concurrent players on Steam and, in the process, breaking the long-standing record held by its biggest rival, Call of Duty.

According to data from SteamDB, the free open beta reached a peak concurrent player count of 521,079 on Saturday. This figure surpasses the 491,670 peak set by Call of Duty during the launch of Modern Warfare 2 (2022) and Warzone 2.0. The huge influx of players briefly catapulted Battlefield 6 into Steam's most-played games list, trailing only giants like Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2, and landing it in the 22nd spot on Steam's all-time chart.

Battlefield launcher

The massive turnout has not gone unnoticed by EA. The publisher took to X to confirm that this is the largest open beta in the franchise's history and even warned players of potential server queue times due to the unprecedented demand.

While a free-to-play beta is always going to attract a large crowd, these numbers are a clear indication that the community is incredibly excited about the game's promised “spiritual successor” direction. The key challenge for EA will be converting this massive beta audience into paying customers when the game launches in October. The long-rumoured free-to-play battle royale component could also play a significant role in the game's long-term success.

For those who missed out on the action this weekend, there's still another chance to jump in, with a second beta weekend scheduled to run from August 14th to 17th. Battlefield 6 is set for a full launch on October 10th for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

KitGuru says: Have you tried Battlefield 6 Open Beta already? What do you think of it?

Nintendo patent reveals unannounced crank attachment for Switch 2 Joy-Con

Nintendo keeps exploring unique ways to play, as a newly discovered patent filing reveals the company is experimenting with a crank-like peripheral for its controllers. The patent, filed with the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), shows a detachable crank that could add a new layer of tactile, rotational input to games.

Spotted by Nintendo Patents Watch (via Polygon), the patent documents detail a device that would slot into a recessed area on a controller. This design immediately brings the Switch and its Joy-Con rails to mind. The crank could then be used for specific in-game actions, with the patent using examples like reeling in a fishing line or other gameplay mechanics that require rotational control. It's a quirky idea, but one that could open the door to some interesting new ways to play.

While a crank might seem like an odd choice for a modern console, it's not the first time we've seen such a thing. In addition to some indie consoles featuring a similar mechanic, Nintendo has also played with the concept before, featuring a buildable cardboard crank as part of one of its Nintendo Labo kits.

As is always the case with patent filings, it's important to keep expectations in check. A patent just proves that a company has explored an idea and wants to protect it. It is not a confirmation that a product is in development or will ever be released. Companies like Nintendo patent countless concepts that never see the light of day.

KitGuru says: While we probably shouldn't expect to be cranking our way through the next Zelda game anytime soon, it's clear that the company is still committed to innovating how players can interact with games.

GTA V has now sold over 215 million copies

For more than a decade now, Grand Theft Auto V has continued to sell like hotcakes, with the now-two-generation-old title consistently pushing around 5 million copies every single quarter. As part of publisher Take-Two’s latest fiscal earnings report, it's been revealed that GTA V has now surpassed 215 million copies – bringing total franchise sales to 455 million.

As part of the company’s latest investor presentation, Take Two offered updated sales stats for many of its major franchises. Alongside confirmation that the Red Dead series has now exceeded 104 million units sold (77 million of which is attributed to RDR2), the publisher revealed that GTA V has once again sold a further 5 million copies – pushing total units past 215 million.

Alongside this, Take-Two also offered a slight tease for the much-anticipated GTA VI, revealing that May’s ‘Trailer 2’ achieved the “biggest [cross platform] video launch of all time, with over 475 million views in 24 hours.”

GTA V 215

Despite all this, GTA V is still not the best-selling game of all time, with that honour going to the ever-green survival crafter Minecraft (which currently sits at 350 million copies sold). Of course, Minecraft has been available on pretty much every platform possible, from mobile phones; to the Switch; 3DS and more – and so the comparison isn’t quite apples-to-apples.

Still, there is no denying that GTA V continues to be an absolute juggernaut; and given just how much it has sold, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see its sequel enter the top 10 best-sellers list almost immediately. We will have to wait and see.

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

More live-service titles are reportedly set to drop last-gen support next year

Perhaps more so than any previous console cycle, the 9th generation of video games has been closely intertwined with last-gen systems, with a large swarth of titles being released across both the PS4 and PS5. That said, some live-service games have finally started to move away from the decade-old platform – with more reportedly set to follow-suit next year.

Recently, we reported on the announcement that Hoyoverse’s highly popular free-to-play gacha game Genshin Impact would no longer receive any content updates after April of 2026, claiming “limitations related to hardware performance and platform application size” as the reasons for this move.

According to Gamesindustry.biz, Hoyoverse aren’t the only ones phasing out last-gen support, with “many other operators of major online and live service titles also eyeing up the [2026] timeline for dropping PS4 support.”

live-service last-gen

Of course, there remains many live-service titles which are still operating on last-gen with no signs of discontinuation, including Epic Games’ Fortnite.

That said, as the likes of smartphones continue to surpass the capabilities of the PS4/Xbox One, there will eventually come a time when all live-services must move on.

It will be interesting to see which titles wind up being discontinued over the next 12 months.

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

Turn 10 addresses fans following Forza Motorsport discontinuation rumours

A couple weeks ago when Microsoft fired over 9000 employees as part of the company’s latest round of lay-offs, one of the studios rumoured to have been affected was Turn 10 Studios. Known for their work on the Forza Motorsport series, the team have now confirmed that more post-launch content for their latest entry is still on the way – despite previous reports.

Back in early July a former Turn 10 developer claimed they were told that “Turn 10 Studios has shuttered the Forza Motorsport space and the team is no more”.

While Turn 10 is primarily responsible for the ForzaTech engine used in the highly successful Forza Horizon series, the most recent Motorsport entry from Turn 10 has not been received as well, and as such it made some sense that the studio would be impacted.

Motorsport Turn 10

That said, the team have finally spoken out, revealing that they aren’t going away and will continue to support Motorsport, writing:

“Dear Forza Community, we know many of you have questions about what’s next for the Forza franchise, and we appreciate the support of our incredible community. We wanted to assure players that Turn 10 and Playground Games will continue to support Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon 5.”

Alongside this message, the team detailed the next update coming this September…although it doesn’t give much confidence toward the game’s future; consisting mostly of returning content (the full details of which can be found HERE).

Still, it is interesting to know that Forza Motorsport appears to be alive for now. Knowing Microsoft however, things could very well change by this time next week.

FSP AE36 AIO CPU Cooler Review

FSP is well known for high-quality power supplies, but more recently the company has branched out into PC cases, CPU air coolers and AIO liquid coolers, and we're looking at the latter in today's review. The FPS AE36 is a 360mm closed-loop AIO cooler with dual ARGB lighting zones, infinity mirror pump top, an easy installation process and a budget price tag. But is it any good? Let’s find out.

FSP AE36 Features:

  • The FSP AE36 is equipped with an infinity mirror pump top with two zones of vibrant ARGB lighting and clean looks with daisy-chained fans featuring cable covers for easy cable management.
  • A high-performance aluminium radiator with a high-density fin design paired with high-pressure fans allows the AE36 to offer efficient heat dissipation even under heavy loads, according to FSP.
  • The smart installation bracket design ensures the AE36 is compatible with multiple desktop platforms, including Intel LGA1851/1700 and AMD AM5/AM4. The innovative quick mount design streamlines the installation process, making it simple to install for both advanced DIY and novice users.

Specifications:

  • CPU Socket Compatibility: Intel LGA: 1851/1700/1200, AMD: AM4/AM5
  • Radiator Material: Aluminium
  • Radiator Dimensions: 394x120x27mm
  • Radiator Tube Length: 400mm approximately
  • CPU Block/Pump Dimensions: 5mm
  • Pump Speed: up to 3000 rpm
  • Cold Plate Material: Micro Skived Copper
  • Pump Connector: 4-pin
  • VRM Fan: N/A
  • Fan Dimensions: 120x120x25mm
  • Fan Speed (PWM): 2300 RPM (MAX) ± 10%
  • Fan Max Airflow: 81.7CFM ± 10%
  • Fan Max Air Pressure: 3.4mmH2O ± 10%
  • Noise (dBA): 36dBA ± 10%
  • Fan Bearing: Dual Ball Bearing
  • Fan Connector: 4-pin PWM
  • LCD Screen: N/A
  • Warranty: 3-Years

FSP ships the AE36 in a cardboard box with an image of the cooler and logo on the front, with the specifications listed on the back. Inside the contents are packed into a cardboard crate for protection during shipping and the accessories/installation hardware come in a smaller white cardboard box.

Fans included with the cooler have a PWM speed range up to 2300 rpm with a Japanese-made dual ball bearing design, opaque fan blades that illuminate with ARGG lighting once the cooler is powered up with daisy chain cables and cable covers to keep things looking neat.

The radiator used in the AE36 is a standard 27mm thick aluminium radiator, very common in closed-loop AIO systems. It features a very dense fin pitch, fixed tubing on the radiator side, and is covered in a smooth, black coating that appears high-quality. The tubing is fitted with a premium-looking braided sleeving.

A compact CPU block/pump unit has dimensions of 67 x 67 x 46.5mm. It is fitted with an infinity mirror top cover with integrated ARGB lighting. Flexible low-evaporation rubber tubing enters the CPU block on 90-degree rotary fittings, while the cold plate base is manufactured from micro-skived copper.

FSP uses all standard wiring connections in the AE36 so the pump and fans connect directly to 4-pin PWM headers, the ARGB lighting uses 3-pin 5V connections, which means everything can be connected to and controlled by the motherboard making installation a breeze.

Included with the cooler is all the installation hardware needed to install the AE36 on either Intel LGA 1851/1700/1200 or AMD AM5/AM4 platforms. Also included is a tube of thermal compound, as there is none pre-applied to the cold plate and an installation guide.

When the cooler is powered up, both the fans and the pump top are illuminated with ARGB lighting effects. The ARGB on the infinity mirror is fine but there is some minor light bleed from the fans. It isn’t perfect but it isn’t the worst I have seen for sure.

Gran Turismo launches online car database with over 500 vehicles

As much as Polyphony Digital’s Gran Turismo series is about racing, the franchise puts an equal amount of reverence and care towards representing these cars as pieces of art and engineering. In an effort to further the education side of Gran Turismo, Polyphony has now launched a dedicated online database, letting you learn more about the hundreds of vehicles available.

Making the announcement on their blog, the team at Polyphony Digital unveiled their brand new Gran Turismo Car List – a database which:

“represents a deep dive into the heart of Gran Turismo 7’s expansive garage. Covering all 530* cars currently featured in the game, each profile comes with images and key specifications, including drivetrain layout, horsepower, and weight.”

Gran Turismo database

Available to access HERE, the site serves as not only a way to discover all of the various vehicles available in-game, but as mentioned also offers a bunch of interesting details for those who are newer to this side of car culture.

Gran Turismo 7 already offers plenty of opportunities to learn about the game’s various vehicles, from interviews with the designers, to the whole Café menu and more.

Still, having a way to explore the 500+ cars currently in Gran Turismo outside of the game itself is a welcome quality-of-life improvement.

Mortal Kombat 1 has sold less than half the copies of MK11

Contrary to its prior release schedule, NetherRealm went straight from MK11 to Mortal Kombat 1 – skipping their previous cadence of breaking up Mortal Kombat releases with a new Injustice game. So far, this seems to have not quite gone to plan, with MK1 ceasing its post-launch support prematurely. While far from the highs of Mortal Kombat 11, NetherRealm has now confirmed that MK1 has sold over 6.2 million copies.

Following the release of Mortal Kombat 1 Definitive Edition, and rumours claiming that further post-launch support had ended, NetherRealm has now released a surprise update for MK1. Though merely a balance patch, NRS head Ed Boon claimed that they’re “still committed to refining MK1 to be our most balanced game.”

Beyond this, Boon requested fan feedback regarding the post-launch strategy of MK1 and how it compares in the eyes of players to Mortal Kombat 11’s.

Mortal Kombat 1 MK11

That said, perhaps the most interesting revelation was confirmation that Mortal Kombat 1 has officially sold over 6.2 million copies since its launch back in 2023.

While such sales figures are nothing to sniff at, this still pales in comparison to the aforementioned MK11, whose most recent numbers put it at 15 million copies sold. It is worth noting however that MK11 represents the best-selling entry in the franchise, and so it perhaps makes sense that a direct sequel has been unable to match its heights.

Of course, MK11 has also had longer on the market, with the title hitting its 15 million mark following 3 years on sale. Given that Mortal Kombat 1 is set to soon enter its 3rd year on the market however, it’s unlikely that the title will more than double its lifetime sales in a single calendar year.

G.Skill was able to overclock eight 32GB sticks to DDR5-8400

A new bar has been set for high-capacity memory overclocking, this time coming from the demanding world of high-end workstations. Renowned Korean overclocker ‘Phantom' has successfully pushed a colossal 256GB kit of G.Skill DDR5 Zeta R5 R-DIMM memory to DDR5-8400 with CL38-50-50 timings.

What makes this record particularly noteworthy is that it was achieved across all eight memory channels of a workstation platform and was proven stable under the MemtestPro stress test. The new record saw a 256GB kit, comprised of eight 32GB modules of G.Skill's DDR5 Registered DIMM memory, pushed to a blistering DDR5-8400. What makes this even more impressive are the tight timings achieved at that speed: CL38-50-50. Of course, a feat like this requires some compelling hardware. The record was set on a test bench featuring the new 64-core AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 9985WX processor and an Asus Pro WS WRX90E-Sage SE motherboard.

With this memory kit overclocked, Phantom was able to set six new world records during the Asus Threadripper Pro launch overclocking event. Those include new record highs for Y-Cruncher 1B, 2.5B, and 5B (all 64xCPU) using a Ryzen Threadripper Pro 9985WX, and Cinebench R20 and R23 32xCPU and Y-Cruncher Pi-5B 32xCPU records with the Ryzen Threadripper Pro 9975WX. The motherboard was the same Asus Pro WS WRX90E-Sage SE across all entries.

While most users won't be pushing their workstation memory to these extremes, this achievement could be interesting for professionals. Workloads sensitive to memory bandwidth and latency, such as large-scale 3D rendering, scientific simulations, or AI training, can see significant reductions in processing time from an overclock such as this.

KitGuru says: Even though DDR5-8400 is far from setting a speed record in the DDR5 realm, doing it across eight modules running at CL38-50-50 is mighty impressive.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater multiplayer won’t be coming at launch

Konami has locked in the launch details for Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater. The good news is that the whole single-player campaign is just around the corner, arriving on August 28th. However, players looking to test their stealth skills against others will have to wait a bit longer, as the game's new multiplayer mode will be released as a post-launch update.

According to the Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater X account, the online component, named “Fox Hunt”, is scheduled to arrive sometime in the fall of 2025. Konami has already stated that this is not a remake of the classic Metal Gear Online. Instead, Fox Hunt is a brand-new concept explicitly designed for the new game, focusing on smaller-scale “cat-and-mouse” stealth encounters in the jungle.

While Konami hasn't given a specific reason for the delay, it's not entirely surprising. The remake itself seems like a massive technical overhaul of the original, built from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5 with new motion capture, animations, and controls. Pushing the multiplayer mode back likely gives the development team more time for nailing down the details. Hopefully, this extra time will help avoid the kind of messy launches that have plagued other titles in the past.

The important thing is that Konami has confirmed Fox Hunt will be a free update for everyone who purchases the base game. For now, fans can look forward to diving into the single-player story when Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater launches on August 28th for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
