Corsair Air 5400

Corsair will release its Air 5400, which is an airflow-targeted case. On the back side of the case is a giant hole, which couples with a front-mounted radiator that will allow the case to shove air straight out of it. This design allows it to focus air flow for the GPU entirely from its own set of fans at the bottom of the case.

This is probably the most interesting case from Corsair we saw at Computex this year. It should be around $220, though that’s dependent on the everchanging tariff situation

Internally, the Air 5400 has a duct at the bottom where the case has 3x120mm fans (the entire case is actually set up to support all 120mm fans, which simplifies things). The duct is there to guide air into the GPU. Corsair claims that the case is getting about a 1-2 degree improvement with the duct in a like-for-like test.

If you do end up with a front radiator, then a potential area that gets abandoned in terms of airflow might be around the VRM area and some of the board components like system memory.

There are mounts for fans up on top of the case along with an additional duct.

Looking at the back of the case, there are 2 holes on the back, which is surprising for a 120mm fan. The spacing doesn’t look like it would fit a 120mm fan, but Corsair’s plan is to include a bracket that would adapt a 120mm fan here and would actually cut out into the glass area on the back, which would make you lose about 40% of the fan. This should help but raises some questions about whether it may cause acoustic issues when you partially blast air into a glass wall.

Speaking of glass, the Air 5400’s glass is laminated. A couple companies are doing this now. Corsair says this helps the glass stay more put together to prevent shattering.

Looking at the back side panel, there’s a big acrylic sheet coupled with an area where air can escape.

Opening up the back panel, there’s a huge amount of cable-management depth. You can also see that the motherboard tray is punctured all of the way through. This causes concerns around structural rigidity, but Corsair is using a .8mm thick steel, which helps a little bit here. The company has also strengthened the case’s top panel compared to Corsair’s 4000D case, which received negative feedback in that area.

The Air 5400 is set to be priced at $220 with 3x120mm fans included.

Corsair is updating its i500 pre-built PC, which we hated, with its upcoming i600, and the company has improved it a lot.

The i500’s GPU cooling solution had basically no contact with any of the power components. The i600, on the other hand, has massive overhauls here. The case itself has only slightly changed, but the changes made accommodate larger radiators. The block for the video card, including the power components, is totally different in a way that looks promising.

The stuff that jumped out to us right away about the i600 is the fin stacks for the VRM, which is connected to a shared copper nickel-plated base plate for the GPU and memory. Everything is connected to the same base plate, which is connected to the liquid cooler. This means all of the heat gets dumped into the liquid cooler. There’s pros and cons to this design. The pro is that all of the other components get cooled better. The downside is that the GPU itself is sharing the heat dissipation capacity with all of the other components in the cooler. This means you typically see some increase in the GPU temperature as a result. There’s ups and downs to this approach. It doesn’t necessarily mean one solution is better than the other as long as it’s all cooled.

The i600 has copper bars, which contact the MOSFETs. Otherwise, it’s very similar to the i500.

Corsair has also modified its CPU cooler radiator, where the company has moved its tanks off to the side. The tubes are also running in a different direction. Corsair is also moving to 25mm thick fans, where previously they had the slimmer 15mm fans. That extra 10mm will help with pressure and performance a lot.

We plan on doing a review of the PC as soon as we buy one.

Corsair Frame 4000D

We saw a prototype of Corsair’s Frame 4000D, where the company changed a few things. Corsair partnered with Singularity for its powerboard. It’s somewhat similar to Elmore’s BENCHLAB, with the exception of it not logging power. With the case, you basically run all of the power cables into the power board and then route them to their final locations. We count 10 fan headers here along with a bunch of RGB headers. There’s a lot of possibilities with this. Currently, it’s mostly being used as a cable-management tool, but you could, in theory, expand this to include more switches, like fan-control switches. We would really like to see current monitoring. It would make it more expensive but that could be a potentially useful direction to go in where you could monitor on the 12VHPWR, for instance, which would become a great marketing point for Corsair and would be very useful for end users.

The front panel is also different as it has a die-cut edge now.

The power supply setup is also different here with Corsair doing an acrylic wall for the PSU instead of steel. The challenge here is that plastic is an incredibly good insulator. This could raise some ESD (electrostatic discharge) concerns and may cause the PSU to lose some of the shielding that steel provides.
As a part of this design, Corsair has customized the caps and PCBs so that they get nice color matching. It looks pretty nice.

3D Printing

Corsair was telling us how for its upcoming 4000D and its Frame series cases, it was getting into 3D printable panels and pieces.

They showed us how one Corsair employee 3D printed a shroud-like duct, which takes air in through the bottom and shoves it up into where the pump and reservoir are in the image above. These 3D print files are available on Corsair’s account on Printables.

Corsair 5000D

We didn’t care too much about it but Corsair also showed off its new 5000D that has a screen on it, which is a thing companies are doing now.

They also had a 5000D case without the screen, which is a larger variant of the Frame 4000D case. Corsair says that it should be priced around $180, but that’s in flux with the tariffs situation.

Corsair Open Concept

Corsair’s open concept at Computex is using some of the same Frame components, where the company is trying to make the Frame series modular and represents an open frame.

There’s also an option for fan mounts as well. The company showed a gigantic radiator tower at the show, which is pretty cool to see.

Intel Nova Lake-S CPUs may use both Xe3 and Xe4 graphics architectures

A new report from a typically reliable Intel hardware leaker suggests that Intel's forthcoming Nova Lake-S desktop processors, slated for an early 2026 arrival, will feature a blend of integrated graphics architectures. While the inclusion of Xe3 integrated graphics for Nova Lake-S has been a long-standing rumour, a new rumour adds a detail that points towards a more sophisticated, hybrid approach.

According to Jaykhin, it appears that while the integrated graphics architecture of Nova Lake-S will indeed be rooted in the Xe3 “Celestial” GPU family, Intel is planning to integrate elements from Xe4 for the display and media engines. This is rather intriguing, as Xe3 graphics aren't even expected to hit volume production until early next year. Moreover, using Xe4 graphics architecture on the display and media engine could allow Intel to significantly boost media engine performance without inflating the cost of the entire GPU subsystem.

On the CPU side, Nova Lake-S is projected to arrive with a varied lineup across four primary SKU levels. The flagship model is expected to boast 52 cores, comprising 16 P-cores, 32 E-cores, and four low-power E-cores. For the high-end laptop and desktop segments, a 28-core variant is anticipated, featuring eight P-cores, 16 E-cores, and four low-power E-cores. The mid-range, targeting both lower-power desktop and laptop markets, might see a 16-core model with four P-cores, eight E-cores, and four low-power E-cores. Finally, an entry-level 8-core processor is rumoured to be equipped with four P-cores and four low-power E-cores.

While it remains to be seen if all SKUs will incorporate the Xe3 and Xe4 architectures, Intel's inherent tile-based strategy provides flexibility to mix and match GPU configurations to suit different market segments.

KitGuru says: Can Nova Lake-S put Intel back on track in the desktop PC segment?

Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak has sold over 10 million copies worldwide

Capcom's beloved Monster Hunter franchise continues to prove its immense commercial success. The company revealed that Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak has surpassed the 10 million copies sold since its 2022 release. This major achievement builds upon its strong performance in 2023, when it had already crossed the 5 million mark.

The success of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak is particularly notable. Despite being a Nintendo Switch exclusive at launch and not positioned as the direct follow-up to the blockbuster Monster Hunter World, Rise moved 10 million copies worldwide. This strong showing from a “non-mainline” entry is a positive indicator for Capcom's broader franchise strategy.

The phenomenal performance of Monster Hunter Wilds further amplifies this momentum. The latest iteration in the series is proving to be a colossal sales driver for Capcom in 2025, having already shattered records by selling an astounding 10 million copies within its first month on the market. Wilds currently holds the title of the best-selling game in the US for 2025, and as Capcom proudly declared just weeks ago, the collective success of the Monster Hunter series, spearheaded by Wilds, has firmly set the company on a trajectory for a record-breaking sales year.

Capcom shows no signs of slowing down. The studio is expected to reveal a new mainline Resident Evil game soon, with whispers suggesting a reveal could happen sometime during the Summer Game Fest. Should Resident Evil 9 indeed see a release before the end of the year, the combined might of its Resident Evil and Monster Hunter could easily secure Capcom's most prosperous financial year to date.

KitGuru says: Are you a fan of Monster Hunter? Did you get Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak?

Ghost of Yotei gameplay deep dive coming in July

Ghost of Yotei ended up being strangely absent from yesterday's State of Play stream. While we didn't get a new trailer, or really any new information, we did get an announcement for an announcement.

Ghost of Yotei wasn't a focus in last night's State of Play stream but Sony did reveal plans for a standalone stream to showcase the game. We'll be getting the big Ghost of Yotei deep dive in July, featuring an extended look at Sucker Punch's new open-world adventure.

Ghost of Yotei is the sequel to Ghost of Tsushima. However, it is completely disconnected from the first game, taking place hundreds of years later and in a new region of Japan. Atsu is our new main character, along with her loyal wolf companion. Set in the Hokkaido region of Japan, Atsu will be hunting down those responsible for killing her family.

Ghost of Yotei releases on October 2, 2025 for PS5. Like most PlayStation games nowadays, it will release on PC eventually, but there is no date on that yet.

KitGuru Says: Ghost of Tsushima is one of my favourite games, so I'm looking forward to the sequel, but much of my excitement will hinge on how well this gameplay showcase goes.

iOS 18 saw below average adoption despite Apple Intelligence

While the figures are close, Apple's announced adoption rate for iOS 18 puts it just below the average for the last decade's releases — even though Apple Intelligence was supposed to boost its popularity.

By January 2025, iOS 18 appeared to be ahead of its predecessor, reaching 76% of all compatible iPhones a month before iOS 17 did the year before. Even that figure was perhaps surprisingly low, however, since Tim Cook had announced vastly faster upgrading at the start in October 2024.

"[This is a] really early stat, which is only three days worth of data," he said at the time, "but users are adopting iOS 18.1 at twice the rate that they adopted 17.1 in the year ago quarter."

New study reveals where the Apple Watch gets fitness data right -- and wrong

A new University of Mississippi meta-analysis of 56 studies finds the Apple Watch delivers fairly accurate data for heart rate and step counts — but shows a much wider margin of error when it comes to calories burned.

The Apple Watch is pretty accurate — at least for certain metrics.

In the year 2025, wearable tech is almost startlingly common. If you walk into any gym in the United States, chances are you're going to see wrists adorned with some kind of fitness tracker or smartwatch.

And it makes sense, too. Whether you're concerned about your health or just looking to dial in your workouts, wearing an Apple Watch — or any other fitness tracker — seems like an ideal way to do it.

Apple's App Store is a big money mover globally

Between the Epic legal battle in the United States and the European Union's Digital Markets Act challenging Apple's App Store model, a lot of eyes are on Apple. Time and again, courts have pushed back against Apple's management of the App Store, and it's reaching a breaking point.

So, Apple has shared a global App Store economic study performed by analysts Jessica Burley, Ph.D. and Professor Andrey Fradkin, Ph.D. The researchers say in the piece that "support for this study was provided by Apple," but aren't clear on what. It's also clear in the text that "the conclusions and opinions expressed are exclusively those of the authors."

Nioh 3 is coming to PC and PS5, console-exclusive demo available now

Back in the PS4 generation, many studios tried to deliver ‘Souls-like' games but few were as loved as Nioh. The IP has been dormant for most of the current console generation but last night, Team Ninja announced its return with Nioh 3.

Nioh 3 is still some ways off, as there is no confirmed release date right now. All we have is a 2026 release window, leaving lots of room for delays. The new trailer gives us a brief look at the game, but those with a PS5 can jump in right now and test out the alpha demo.

In Nioh 3, players will be put in the shoes of a young warrior looking to become the next Shogun. For the first time, players will also have access to two completely different combat styles – Samurai or Ninja. The Samurai style is similar to the combat we've seen in previous Nioh games, while the Ninja style is new and specialises in keeping enemies at a distance.

Players will be able to switch seamlessly between the Samurai and Ninja styles, so if you are having a hard time with an enemy, you can quickly change tactics to put them on the ropes.

Nioh 3 will be releasing for both PS5 and PC sometime in 2026. The demo version is a PS5 exclusive and will only be available until June 18th.

KitGuru Says: It is great to see PC being included in the launch plans for Nioh 3, although I do hope that Team Ninja has ironed out its quirky control schemes and optimisation issues.

Sandisk WD_Black SN8100 2TB Gen 5 SSD Review

We recently reviewed the first PCIe Gen 5.0 drives from Samsung and Kingston, and now another big hitter, Sandisk, has launched its first Gen 5 drive under the WD_Black banner – the SN8100.

The WD_Black SN8100 comes in three capacities: 1TB, 2TB (the drive we are reviewing here), a flagship 4TB drive, and two versions, one plain and one with a heatsink. An 8TB model is expected later in 2025. The drive uses a combination of a SanDisk controller and Sandisk BiCS8 218-layer TLC 3D. Arc System Works is working on a Marvel fighting game for 2026

The fighting game specialists at Arc System Works have a new game on the horizon. This time around, we're getting a 4v4 brawler, based on Marvel superheroes.

There have been some legendary Marvel fighting games over the decades, but Arc System Works brings a certain level of magic to the table. Their new title, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls is based on 4v4 tag team battles, featuring characters like Captain America, Ms. Marvel, Ghost Rider, Iron Man, Starlord, Doctor Doom, Spider-Man and Storm.

Speaking on the game's development, director Kazuto Sekine explained that while typically a tag team fighter would require a player to master multiple characters, the addition of ‘modern' control schemes allows inexperienced players to jump into the fray with simpler combos.

Arc System Works says Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls will be releasing in 2026, so we'll get more news on mechanics and the character roster in the months ahead.

KitGuru Says: Dragonball FighterZ was my favourite fighting game of the Xbox One / PS4 generation. Hopefully Arc System Works can turn Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls into a staple of the genre for the PS5 generation.

Final Fantasy Tactics returns this year for PC, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch

In recent years, we've heard repeatedly that Square Enix is working on a Final Fantasy Tactics remake. Last night, the game was officially announced and better yet, it is coming out in just a few months.

Last night during Sony's State of Play stream, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles was announced. The trailer gives us a look at the graphical upgrade from the original 1997 game and the new version:

Unfortunately, the term ‘remake' seems a bit strong here. This appears to be more in-line with the Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters, with sharper sprites and backgrounds and reworked UI elements. If you were hoping for a more complete graphical overhaul here, then you are out of luck.

Final Fantasy Tactics first released for the PS1 back in 1997. The game returned on PSP in 2007 but we've had nothing since. This will be the first time that Final Fantasy Tactics is playable on a non-PlayStation console, with the game set for PC, PS5, Xbox and Switch at launch on the 30th of September.

KitGuru Says: The rumour mongers need to do a better job of differentiating between remakes and remasters. As exciting as the return of Final Fantasy Tactics is for fans of the original, the fact is, it still looks like a game from the 90s and that will put a lot of younger fans off.

007 First Light trailer gives us our first look at IOI’s James Bond in action

The IOI Showcase isn't due to go live until tomorrow but in the meantime, the studio made a quick appearance during Sony's State of Play stream last night. Ahead of tomorrow's showcase, we now have a new trailer for 007 First Light, IO Interactive's original James Bond game.

The announcement trailer is quite lengthy, coming in at over 3-minutes long. It is a cinematic trailer, but there are some small snippets of gameplay thrown in.

Based on the trailer, we'll be picking up at Bond's earliest days as a spy, going through training before setting out on a mission to capture 009, a rogue agent. The game looks to promise car chases, stealth sections where you'll make use of your spy gadgets and both gun fights and fist fights.

We'll be getting more information on 007 First Light at the IOI Showcase tomorrow. Alongside the James Bond game, IO will be showing off the latest updates for HITMAN: World of Assassination, as well as MindsEye, a new game from former Rockstar producer, Leslie Benzies, developed by Build a Rocket Boy and published by IO Interactive.

KitGuru Says: What did you think of the 007 First Light announcement trailer?

No Man’s Sky Beacon Update available now

Following their last major patch in late March, Hello Games is back with another massive free update to No Man’s Sky. Available right now, the Beacon Update brings with it settlement overhauls; building improvements and much more.

Available to download right now for free (as always), the Beacon Update focuses on No Man’s Sky’s building and settlement systems, with just some of the change/additions including:

  • The ability to oversee 4 different settlements
  • Historical records for your settlements
  • New Pyrotechnic spectacles for settlements
  • Rare Autophage settlements, populated by secretive robotic lifeforms and assembled from scrap and crystal
  • Inspect building details
  • Weathered construction materials
  • Completely reworked settlement systems offering greater choice and depth
  • Settler personalities

It continues:

  • Citizen disputes have been completely reworked and expanded
  • Expanded settlement customisation
  • New Autophage settlers
  • Settlement squadrons
  • New exosuit voice options
  • Settlement fishing
  • Richer citizen guidance
  • Custom resource production
  • Player voice options
  • New base parts
  • Much, much more

As with most No Man’s Sky updates, Hello Games have focused on one of the game’s many aspects and overhauled it to the nth degree. With so many of the game’s elements being improved, it feels as though there is very little else that Hello Games can do to enhance the experience further.

As we’ve seen for almost a decade now however, the journey of No Man’s Sky continues.

KitGuru says: What did you think of the settlement mechanics previously? Are you excited to check out the update? What else does Hello Games have left to add to No Man’s Sky? Let us know down below.

A new 3D printing filament can color-match a vintage Macintosh

A collector of classic computers has worked on a 3D printer filament designed to color-match classic Macintosh casings, which should help future restoration projects.

The 3D printer has become an invaluable part of classic computing restoration, due to its ability to replicate parts of casings that need replacing. Being able to create a one-off print of a part that simply isn't being manufactured anymore has been extremely useful to projects restoring older hardware.

However, while you can create the replacement part, it may not necessarily look like the original. Lines from filament deposit layers aside, there's the problem of getting the actual color of Apple's plastic correct.

iPhone 17 could get much higher wattage MagSafe charging

New regulatory filings show that Apple has produced two updated MagSafe charging pucks, which both support the Qi 2.2 standard that means the iPhone 17 could theoretically charge wirelessly at almost double the speed previously possible.

Apple's current 25W MagSafe charger may be updated to a 45W version

The new chargers are an update to the existing 25W MagSafe charger that was released alongside the iPhone 16 range. The Qi 2.2 standard supports a maximum 50W charging speed, though these two new models appear to be rated at 45W.

As first spotted by 91mobiles in a filing with the Taiwanese regulatory authority's NCC database, the two chargers are the same design as the previous 25W model. They are round pucks, measuring approximately 100mm or just under four inches.

Playground Games founder claims Forza has made more money than GT, NFS and F1 combined

Though not the face of the Xbox brand, the Forza series is certainly one of Microsoft’s biggest – with Forza Horizon 5 alone seeing over 45 million players. According to the former co-founder of Playground Games, Forza has made more revenue than “Gran Turismo, F1, Need For Speed and The Crew put together.”

In an interview with Gamesindustry.biz, discussing their latest creative endeavour with Lighthouse Games, the former co-founder and studio head of Playground Games – Gavin Raeburn – offered an interesting perspective on the success of the Forza Horizon series, claiming:

“The racing market now is very healthy, it's very good, it's doing well. But if you look at the market, you look at Horizon…the number of people I've spoken to who’ve played Horizon who would say, ‘I didn't think I like racing games, but I love Horizon' – it's been hugely successful.”

Playground Games Forza

According to Raeburn, “If you look at the revenue earning of that game now, it beats Gran Turismo, F1, Need For Speed and The Crew put together. That's before Horizon went over to PlayStation. That's massive. I think what that’s done to the market, though, [is] all the other racing developers are now copying a lot of that Horizon formula.”

While the former head of Playground Games would certainly have greater access to the sales and revenue of the Forza series (and maybe even its contemporaries), it is left unclear as to how this was calculated – especially with a majority of the 45 million players likely having done so through Game Pass.

Regardless, there’s no denying that Forza Horizon is a massive series by this point. It will be interesting to see how the inevitable Forza Horizon 6 performs.

KitGuru says: What do you think of these claims? What’s your favourite current-gen racing game? Does it make sense to compare sim-racers and arcadey open-world racers? Let us know your thoughts down below.

40% of iOS Fortnite players are using Epic’s payment system

All the way back in 2020, Apple removed Fortnite from its iOS app store following Epic’s inclusion of an alternative in-app payment system. This of course led to years of legal back and forths, with Fortnite finally returning to Apple devices last month. It seems as though all the trouble Epic went through might have been worth it, with millions of iPhone users flocking back to the game.

In an interview (conducted by The Verge) with Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney, it was revealed that in the time since Fortnite was re-added back to the iOS App Store on the 20th of May, the game has already amassed 10 million downloads.

Far more interesting however is the revelation that 40% of these 10 million users have opted for Epic’s own in-app payment system over Apple’s. Considering the fact that the entire legal battle between Epic and Apple surrounded these payment systems, it is likely a relief for them to see the system actually being used. Of course, the added incentives which Epic gives you for using their payment system likely helped out.

Fortnite iOS

That said, Sweeney appears to have greater ambitions still, telling The Verge: “As we get more players to associate payment methods with their Epic accounts, we’ll see a higher rate of adoption, and I would hope that it would be above 50 percent.”

While ultimately the legal battle bottled down to a Trillion Dollar and a Multi-Billion Dollar company wanting to make more billions, the results are interesting to see nonetheless.

KitGuru says: Are you one of the 10 million new Fortnite players on iOS? How do you think the ratio between Epic and Apple’s services will shake out in the long-term? Let us know down below.

Undead Labs tease State of Decay 3 ahead of Xbox Showcase

With the Summer game announcement season officially underway, many studios have begun to tease their plans for the coming weeks. Ahead of the impending Xbox Games Showcase, Undead Labs – the team behind State of Decay 3 – have released a cryptic teaser image online.

Publishing a cryptic image to its social media pages, the team behind State of Decay 3 – Undead Labs – appear to be hinting at their presence during Microsoft’s upcoming Xbox Games Showcase; set to go live on the 8th of June at 6pm BST.

Though the image in question gives very little away (aside from being stylised similarly to the studio's revamped logo), one reply translated the runes as stating “LOOK BEYOND TO UNDERSTAND” – though regardless this is clearly teasing State of Decay 3.

Undead Labs State of Decay 3

Announced all the way back in 2020, we’ve seen very little from State of Decay 3, with the most significant being a cinematic trailer during last year’s showcase.

Given how long ago it was announced, hopefully the team at Undead Labs are ready to show off State of Decay 3 with a bunch of gameplay – and maybe even a release date. We won't have to wait long to find out.

KitGuru says: Are you looking forward to the Xbox Showcase? What game are you wanting to see the most? Could State of Decay 3 arrive this year? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Wobkey Crush 80 Reboot Lite mechanical keyboard review: Toned down with easy access

The Crush 80 Reboot Lite is a mechanical keyboard with muted RGB and customization options, albeit without Mac-specific keycaps.

Wobkey Crush 80 Reboot Lite

The mechanical keyboard marketplace offers a lot of choices for consumers in terms of specifications and colors. In most cases, what's on offer from the manufacturer is a pretty adequate keyboard in its own right, but it could be better with some tweaks.

Most of the time, there's the opportunity to tinker for those brave enough to do it. Those who do can apply modifications to change how the keyboard types, far beyond simply changing the keycaps or the switches.

How to create your own Memories movies in Photos on iOS or iPadOS 18

There are now two ways to create Memories movies in Photos as of iOS 18.1 or later: one method is the same way you have done it in previous iOS versions, and the new one leverages Apple Intelligence if it's available on your device.

Two square photo thumbnails labeled Lancaster and On the Trail show children outdoors. Lancaster has yellow flowers and On the Trail shows a child embracing another in a scenic landscape.
You can create Memories movies in Photos using both pictures and video.

To use the latter method, you'll need to have an iPhone that is capable of supporting Apple Intelligence. This means an iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 model.

Qualcomm CEO downplays importance of Apple relationship after C1 modem

Qualcomm's CEO doesn't seem to be worried about losing one of its biggest customers as Apple shifts to in-house modems like the C1 for iPhone.

Qualcomm expects that its contract with Apple won't be renewed.

For over 15 years, Qualcomm's modem chips powered Apple's iPhones, enabling wireless connectivity to cellular networks. Analysts estimated that Apple paid over $2.5 billion in 2024 alone for Qualcomm's patent licenses, while the company's annual modem revenue from Apple is said to be between $5.7 billion and $5.9 billion.

Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon, in an appearance on Yahoo Finance's Opening Bid podcast, spotted by 9to5mac, revealed that the modem company is prepared to look well beyond the iPhone. Qualcomm's plans are based on the assumption that Apple will continue to use in-house modems going forward, meaning that the chipmaker will have to explore alternative avenues.

Apple appeal to pause injunction enforcement allowing external linking fails

Apple must continue to allow apps to link out and avoid its App Store commission during its appeal against an injunction resulting from the Epic anti-steering ruling.

Apple must continue allowing developers to bypass commissions

Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers ruled that Apple willfully violated an injunction against its anti-steering practices in the Epic vs Apple case. Even though Apple was compelled to remove its anti-steering rules, the new rules were too aggressive for developers to bother supporting.

According to a report from Reuters, Apple's request to pause enforcement of the judge's ruling during appeals failed. The U.S. appeals court denied Apple's request, where it shared that "we strongly disagree."

Apple approved fewer push data personal info demands in 2024 despite government surge

While governments around the world made a record number of iPhone push notification data requests in 2024, Apple approved a smaller share.

Push notifications may not be totally private

According to Apple's latest transparency report, global government requests for push notification data climbed from 119 in early 2023 to 277 by mid-2024. But the company approved far fewer of them, with its approval rate dropping from 76% to just 59% over that period.

The data shows that while authorities are increasingly turning to push tokens as a source of account-level information, Apple is responding with growing restraint.
