In retro news, I'm using a flaming grenade to light a 12-candle cake baked for Killzone: Mercenary, the 2013 FPS that brought the Helghast war to PS Vita. This was no half-hearted spin-off either. At the time, it felt like a full console-grade shooter shrunk down to fit in my hands, complete with weighty weapons, sharp visuals, and a clever mercenary angle (letting you earn cash and upgrade your kit across solo and multi). Underrated and, I daresay, never to be remastered.

Nice Savings for Nintendo Switch

PS5 Headsets Just Got Better for PC Gamers Thanks to PlayStation Link Software Update

Thanks to new Windows 10 and 11 software for PlayStation 5 audio devices like the Pulse Elite headset and Pulse Explore earbuds, you can now get their full range of functionality when using them on PC. This is particularly handy for those who game on both the PS5 and PC, as these first-party are some of the best PS5 headsets around and are now essentially cross-platform devices through the PlayStation Link PC driver.

While these devices worked on PC before, they didn't have proper software support which limited their versatility. Per the official PlayStation support page, the driver will automatically install when you connect the PS Link USB adapter. The new PS Link driver isn't as robust as apps you'll see for new Razer headsets or SteelSeries earbuds, for example, but it's an upgrade from previously having no PC software support. With the PS Link PC driver, you can manually adjust volume on the OS, toggle your microphone and adjust the sidetone mic feedback volume, switch EQ presets, and update the device's firmware if needed. You can also monitor battery life through the driver.

The biggest addition here is being able to swap audio profiles through the EQ presets, so you can customize your sound experience and get more out of the headset and/or earbuds. The standard setting offers a balanced and flat sound experience, but you can adjust frequencies to boost bass and/or lower treble, for example.

The Ultra features redesigned ear cushions that are both more comfortable and provide a more secure seal, resulting in better passive noise isolation. It also supports spatial audio for better immersion, and it's updated with the new Bluetooth 5.3 protocol. Android users can rejoice in the fact that the Ultra supports Snapdragon Sound, a feature that offers optimized sound quality, connection stability, and latency for your streaming audio when the headphone is connected to an Android device.

Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds

If you use an Android smartphone, the Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds is a better pair of earbuds than the AirPods Pro 2. This is Bose's top-end earbuds, with better noise canceling than the QuietComfort Ultra over-ear headphone due to its sealed in-ear design and better passive noise isolation. Of course the earbuds also boast top notch audio quality to match. Like the Ultra headphones, the earbuds support Snapdragon Sound when paired with an Android device.

Every LEGO Book Nook Set Now Available In September 2025

LEGO hasn't been just for kids for a while now. There are countless "adults welcome" LEGO sets that are perfect for offices, game rooms, or to mount on your walls. Sure, most of these sets are nerd-adjacent, from Star Wars display models to an enormous Lord of the Rings Rivendell set, but they are a testament to just how much the toy brand has changed over the years. Some of the biggest upcoming LEGO sets are 18+ builds specifically targeted at adult collectors this year. And If you're both an avid reader and huge LEGO fan like me, the three new themed book nooks now available are absolutely worth checking out. These book nooks are an entirely new type of LEGO set made to fit perfectly on your shelf and live amongst your book collection.

With the new sets available now, LEGO joins a wide range of brands offering book nook kits for adults in 2025.

Every LEGO Book Nook Available Now

All three of the LEGO book nooks came out earlier this summer alongside the rest of June LEGO lineup, and the one pair of bookends here were just released at the beginning of September. They're all riddled with detail and Easter eggs from their respective series and are modular; there's the folded in book nook style and the "unfolded" view. The unfolded mode offers a great display of famous scenes like the Harry and Ron finding Platform 9 3/4 or Gandalf facing off against the Balrog. The modularity makes these sets not only serve their purpose as book nooks well but also as standalone LEGO display pieces for your shelves or coffee tables.

The set of Wicked bookends function a little bit differently by replacing the idea of a simple nook with more of a functional aspect. This is the only bookends set we've seen so far.

LEGO Lord of the Rings Book Nook

The Lord of the Rings LEGO Book Nook includes a super detailed Gandalf minifigure with his sword and staff and a buildable, fully posable Balrog figure. It recreates the iconic scene on the Bridge of Khazad-dûm in the Fellowship of the Ring, with a plaque stating "you shall not pass!" front and center. It's 1,201 pieces and is sure to be a fun build, especially if you have the movie playing in the background!

As a book nook, this set would also go great alongside a collection of Lord of the Rings books. Since it's release it has also topped our list of the best Lord of the Rings gifts for fans of the series.

LEGO Sherlock Holmes Book Nook

The LEGO Sherlock Holmes Book Nook is the biggest of the trio, coming it at 1,359 pieces, and definitely has the most Easter eggs — fitting for our favorite detective. When folded in nook form, the outer cover has the iconic silhouette of Sherlock and his magnifying glass from the actual Arthur Conan Doyle books. This set also comes with five detailed minifigures: Sherlock, Dr. Watson, Moriarty, Irene Adler, and seemingly a member of the Baker Street Irregulars. When unfolded, it's a detailed recreation of 221B Baker Street in London where Sherlock lives.

LEGO Hogwarts Express Book Nook

The LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts Express Book Nook should be familiar to longtime LEGO fans, since the iconic red train has seen many iterations over the years. Of the three, I'd prefer to have this unfolded as it seemlessly splits the scene between King's Cross station in London and the magical Platfrom 9 3/4. It looks a bit silly folded in book nook mode in my opinion, but it still works. At 832 pieces, it's the smallest of the three, but included are Harry Potter and Ron Weasley minifigures along with their trolleys, Hedwig, and Scabbers. If you're looking for a set of bookends for your Harry Potter book collection, this is a great gift idea for any Harry Potter fan.

LEGO Wicked: Glinda & Elphaba Bookends

We had the chance to build the LEGO Wicked bookends and found them to be a great alternative to the more traditional book nooks. This is essentially two sets in one and you build both bookends separately before placing them on your shelf. The insdie of each book houses a little scene that allow them to double as a book nook if you turn them on their side.

Are There Any Upcoming LEGO Book Nooks?

As of September 2025, there are no known plans for any more LEGO Book Nooks. That being said, the first three sets that released in June and the new Wicked bookends have been extremely popular so far. The success of these initial book nooks would indicated that LEGO will almost certainly be releasing more in the near future. We can only speculate as to which franchises will get the book nook treatment next, but since LEGO hasn't strayed beyond collaborations that are directly tied to book series', there's only so many potential next steps.

The first and most obvious next book nook would be an expansion of Dune. There has only been one LEGO Dune set so far and it was overall very popular. Something like a giant sand worm book nook would be a great choice. It's possible Disney could also join the fray with a Winnie the Pooh set or something similar.

This PC is sold and shipped by Walmart directly with a delivery date as early as August 27. The RTX 5070 graphics card is an excellent choice for gaming at up to 1440p during Labor Day sales.

iBuypower Intel Core i5-14400F RTX 5070 Gaming PC for $1,099

The iBuypower Slate gaming PC is equipped with an Intel Core i5-14400F processor, GeForce RTX 5070 graphics card, 16GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a 1TB M.2 SSD. The Intel Core i5-14400F is a 14th generation Raptor Lake Refresh model with a max turbo frequency of 4.7GHz and 10 cores. It's cooled by a 120mm tower heatsink and fan combo.

The GeForce RTX 5070 GPU is an excellent choice for 1080p or 1440p gaming

Compared to the previous generation GPUs, the RTX 5070 performs comparably with the RTX 4070 Super. We wish there was a bigger generation improvement in raw performance, but the RTX 4070 Super was already an excellent card for 1080p and 1440p gaming. In any case, the RTX 4070 Super GPU has since been discontinued and is only readily available in the used market. The RTX 5070 also supports DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation, and the performance gap widens in games that support this new technology, including Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, Doom: The Dark Ages, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and the upcoming Borderlands 4 and Battlefield 6 games.

The discount only applies to annual subscriptions, so no free trials and no big savings on the monthly plans. What’s on Paramount+?

Paramount has been slowly expanding its live sports offerings. It's where you can watch the NFL on CBS as well as the UEFA Champions League. Most recently, the service signed a deal to acquire the streaming rights to the UFC franchise, which will be moving away from the PPV model used by ESPN starting in 2026. Maintaining a tidy desk area doesn't have to be labor intensive or expensive. Traditionally you would use a can of compressed air to clean out your PC, but they're essentially one-time use, they usually target a very small area (because of their tiny nozzle), and the cost can quickly add up. Nowadays there's a better solution. As part of its Back to School sale, Amazon has the EUKI Cordless Rechargeable Electric Air Duster (Air Blower) for just $24.99 after you clip a $15 off coupon on the product page. Most electric air dusters under $50 on Amazon are pretty much identical, so you just want to get the one that's on sale. There are other more powerful options out there, but they are considerably more expensive.

EUKI Cordless Electric Air Duster for PC for $24.99

The EUKI cordless rechargeable electric air duster is a fairly straightforward device. An internal fan spins at up to 15,000RPM to move an appreciable amount of air. A nozzle funnels the air into a tight, high-velocity stream that's more than strong enough to kick up layers of dust that's been sitting on top of your computer components. It has three speed settings, although I would recommend keeping it at the max speed for optimal results. Note that it doesn't come with a long, thin nozzle like the ones that come with compressed air canisters. If that's what you're looking for, the deal below might be a better fit. The duster weighs about 12 ounces, light enough to be used for a while.

The best thing about an electronic duster compared to a can of compressed air is that it can be re-used. The battery lasts up to 100 minutes on a full charge (lower on max setting). The New ESPN and Disney+ Bundle Can Now Be Paired With an NFL+ Premium Subscription

ESPN officially launched its streaming service last month with a tempting Disney+ bundle offer. Just one day before the NFL season kicks off for 2025, an even newer bundle has arrived. You can now choose to include a subscription to NFL+ Premium for an additional $10. The total price of this bundle would be $39.99 for the first 12 months and includes Disney+, Hulu, ESPN Unlimited, and NFL+ Premium.

This latest bundle isn't exactly a surprise seeing as ESPN is currently acquiring NFL Network. However when ESPN Unlimited first launched, this was a bit of a question mark about the service. ESPN already has access to some NFL games, but not all of them. With the addition of NFL+ Premium into the bundle, it solidifies the service as one of the best sports streaming options this fall.

What NFL Coverage Does This Include?

While this bundle doesn't get you access to every NFL game, it does offer a pretty wide range of coverage. ESPN Unlimited includes Monday night football games that air on ESPN and ABC. With NFL+ Premium, you'll also get access to local and primetime games as well as any of the NFL Network games. This includes NFL RedZone, which covers a lot of the action on Sunday. You will still need to get an NFL Sunday Ticket subscription separately if you want to watch out-of-market games on Sunday, though.

It's also worth noting that while NFL+ Premium grants you access to more live NFL coverage, you can only access the local and primetime games via your phone or tablet. Man of Tomorrow: What Do We Know About the Plot and Villain of James Gunn's Superman Sequel?

One of the fun parts about the new DCU is that James Gunn is never shy about suddenly dropping big news on social media. Case in point - Gunn recently tweeted out the title and release date of his hotly anticipated follow-up to Superman. Man of Tomorrow hits theaters on July 9, 2027, sooner than we would have anticipated.

We don’t know much about the plot of Man of Tomorrow at this early stage, but Gunn did leave DC fans with one other treat. His announcement was paired with a new piece of artwork from DC Comics CCO, Publisher, and President Jim Lee showcasing Lex Luthor and Superman together. That was immediately followed by two more Superman/Lex images from DC artists Jorge Jiménez and Mitch Gerads.

These images tell us a lot about the new movie and how it seems to be turning the DCU’s most bitter rivalry on its head. Let’s break down what we know so far.

Who Is the Man of Tomorrow?

Let’s start with the title. “Man of Tomorrow” is a phrase that should be familiar to a lot of Superman fans. Just as Batman is frequently referred to as “The Dark Knight” and “The Caped Crusader,” Superman is often dubbed “The Man of Tomorrow” in the comics. It’s a logical choice of title for Gunn’s Superman follow-up, akin to Christopher Nolan going from Batman Begins to The Dark Knight.

That said, we shouldn’t necessarily assume the title is referring to David Corenswet’s Kal-El in this case. Let’s not forget that Gunn has been adamant all along that this film isn’t Superman 2. He previously said, "... is it a straight-up Superman sequel? I would not say necessarily." Lee’s art certainly suggests that Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor has as big a role as Superman this time around. Could the title be referring to Luthor instead?

We suspect it’s meant to refer to both characters. Superman certainly embodies the phrase, as he’s worked for three years and counting to protect the citizens of Metropolis and serve as a beacon of hope and inspiration to the world. But Lex clearly views himself as the true Man of Tomorrow, the only one with the intelligence and the drive to guide humanity into a better age. As he sees it, humanity should be led by humans, not aliens like Superman.

The film will probably focus on the tension between the two characters as each strives to be the symbol mankind needs. Who’s the real Man of Tomorrow here, the brilliant but ruthless tech billionaire or the guy who’s made kindness the new punk rock?

Superman and Lex Luthor: Frenemies?

If there’s one takeaway from Lee’s art, it’s that we’re looking at an unlikely alliance between Lex and Superman in Man of Tomorrow. The image shows the two characters leaning back to back, with Luthor decked out in his classic green and purple power armor. But rather than appearing threatened by Lex’s new battlesuit, Superman is cozying up to his foe. He’s even holding up a screwdriver, suggesting that Kal-El will help Luthor design his trademark suit in the new movie.

Gerads’ image strikes a different tone, showing the two characters locked in combat, while Gerads’ image seems to depict the two fighting side-by-side against a common enemy.

All of this points to a major change in the tone of their relationship in Man of Tomorrow. In Superman, Luthor couldn’t be more bitter and hateful toward Supes. His every move in the film is directed toward discrediting and destroying Superman. He even refers to Superman as “it,” showing that he refuses to accept Superman as a person worthy of basic human dignity. We can’t imagine Lex’s ire toward Superman will cool at all in the aftermath of Superman. The movie ends with his plot being exposed and a disgraced Luthor being carted off to Belle Reve Prison.

Their relationship looks to be undergoing the same evolution it does in the comics, where Lex slowly shifts from being Superman’s greatest rival to a more ambiguous antagonist and occasional ally.

Even so, it appears that something will happen to force Lex to reevaluate Superman and fight alongside him rather than against him. For example, Lex actually joined the Justice League during DC’s New 52 era, and in Joshua Williamson’s current Superman series, an incarcerated Lex has been cast as a helpful ally to Superman. Even in All-Star Superman, the comic Gunn has said inspired his first movie more than any other, Lex eventually has an epiphany when he gains Superman's powers and understands how his nemesis sees the world around him.

We doubt Man of Tomorrow will depict Lex doing a complete 180 in terms of his Superman stance, but it may force him to reevaluate his hatred toward the Man of Steel and realize that there are far greater dangers facing humanity. On that note…

Who Is the Villain of Man of Tomorrow?

Again, these three images hint that Superman and Lex will be forced to work together against a common enemy in Man of Tomorrow. Who could that enemy be? Superman’s rogues gallery is certainly a deep one, but a few characters stand out as likely candidates.

One option is General Zod, a character who’s certainly no stranger to live-action Superman projects at this point. Zod was previously played by the late Terence Stamp in 1978’s Superman and 1980’s Superman II, while Michael Shannon took on the role in 2013’s Man of Steel and several other DCEU movies. Gunn’s Superman already revealed that the Kryptonians had designs on Earth. Even Bradley Cooper’s Jor-El, normally a paragon of virtue, intended for his son to conquer Earth and create a new generation of Kryptonian/human hybrids.

Most versions of the Superman mythos eventually reveal that Dru-Zod and his soldiers survived Krypton’s destruction because they were imprisoned in the Phantom Zone. There’s no reason to assume the DCU will be any different. We wouldn’t be at all surprised if Man of Tomorrow shows Zod leading an army to conquer Earth and do what Kal-El refused. At that point, even Lex will be forced to accept that he’s better off with the devil he knows.

Another option is Brainiac, a major Superman villain who surprisingly hasn’t appeared in a live-action movie before. Brainiac is a ferociously intelligent collector who has tasked himself with absorbing the knowledge of intergalactic civilizations, bottling up cities as trophies, and destroying the rest. In some versions of the mythos, Brainiac is responsible for Krypton’s destruction.

Brainiac would make for an especially great villain in Man of Tomorrow because he’s on equal footing with both Superman and Lex Luthor. Between his cybernetic enhancements and various alternate bodies, he’s powerful enough to go toe-to-toe with Kal-El. And in terms of his intelligence, he’s the only villain in the DCU who can rival Lex.

Finally, we can’t help but think of Doomsday, arguably the strongest and most bloodthirsty of Superman’s many enemies. The opening crawl in Superman reveals that Kal-El has been on the job for three years and never lost a fight until his clash with the Hammer of Boravia. That would suggest that the DCU hasn’t yet experienced the brutal showdown between Superman and Doomsday that leaves both dead in the heart of Metropolis. Maybe the time has come to tell that story?

We don’t know that Gunn would want to return to the Doomsday well so soon after projects like 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the TV series Superman and Lois. But if any villain is fearsome enough to require an alliance between Superman and Lex Luthor, it’s definitely Doomsday.

The LEGO Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City 4,210-Brick Set Is on Sale for the First Time

One of the best LEGO x DC collaborations is on sale for the first time ever. Right now Walmart is offering the LEGO Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City Set (#76271) for $267.00. That's an 11% discount from its retail price of $300 which is less than the typical LEGO deals we post, but I've actually never seen this set discounted in the past. It's also an outstanding value at only 6.3 cents per brick, especially for a themed LEGO set that was released just last year.

LEGO Batman: The Animated Series Gotham City for $267

The LEGO Gotham City set is a huge 2.5D diorama depicting all of the most memorable landmarks showcased in the Batman animated TV series. It measures 30" wide by 16" tall and is comprised of a whopping 4,210 pieces, making it the largest LEGO x DC set ever by a fair margin (the next biggest set is the upcoming Arkham Asylum at 2,953 pieces).

Unlike traditional LEGO Art sets, Gotham City has a surprisingly high degree of interactivity even after you've finished building it. The diorama is comprised of 15 separate panels that can be removed to reveal the inside of Wayne Manor, the Batcave and Arkham Asylum, and the activities of numerous villains from Batman: The Animated Series. The set also includes 4 minifigures: Batman, The Joker, Harley Quinn, and Catwoman, as well as the Batmobile and Batwing.

Both Kevin Wong and Seth Macy at IGN built this set and absolutely loved it. It's definitely a challenging build that fully deserves the 18+ rating, but the end result is more than worth it. LEGO does include two sets of building instructions so that two people can work on it simultaneously.

There was also a new agreement reached with WWE that will bring WrestleMania to ESPN Unlimited sometime in 2026. So while this service is still fairly new, there's more expected to arrive on it next year.

An ESPN Unlimited subscription is $29.99 per month or $299.99 annually. New subscribers also have the option to sign up a Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN Unlimited bundle at no extra cost for the first 12 months.
