Entertainment has hit critical mass over the last decade, with more shows and movies being produced and released than ever before. It’s impossible to keep up with everything hitting the digital space, whether it be Premium Video on Demand (PVOD) or a traditional streaming network. With that in mind, we figured it was well past time for us to whip up a little something to help you keep up (and catch up) with all there is to watch in the big, wide world of digital viewing. And thus, the Streaming Rewind was born!
We’ll update this list at the end of each week so you can check out what you may have missed, and what’s coming up on the weekend. We’ll keep it a mix of popular releases and noteworthy lesser-known titles to help you find what’s worth taking the risk on as well as dive into a few things that we loved and why we loved ‘em, or just break down a show or movie that left us with some opinions. Sometimes, we’ll even have guest entries from other members of the IGN staff. If you’re not interested in all that and just want to see a bulleted list of what’s out there, pop on down to the New and Noteworthy and ICYMI sections.
Apple TV+’s psychological drama/mystery series is pushing towards the middle of its second season, and it's bringing big themes with it. This week’s Severance, while light on goats, explores questions of autonomy between innies and outies in major ways, but it doesn’t quite reconcile those questions just yet. It’s not out of character, given that Severance has always been more of a slow-burn kind of series, but it’s definitely an episode of television that will leave you screaming at the characters to use their words. We spoke to stars Adam Scott, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, and Tramell Tillman as well as creator Dan Erickson about Season 2, Episode 4’s big twist, so be sure to check that out once the episode drops on Friday.
Invincible is back, this time with a normal gap between seasons and a reasonable release schedule that doesn’t leave fans wondering where the heck the rest of the story is. In Season 3, Mark (Steven Yeun) is going to be forced to reconcile not just with his past, but with his future as well. Definitely not an ominous synopsis for a character who also happens to be desperately trying to balance his life as a hero and a person. The first three episodes of Season 3 drop on February 6, with the remainder of the season coming weekly thereafter. Take a look at our piece on the most important new Invincible characters to expect in Season 3 before you dive into the new season.
Football isn’t really something we talk about often on IGN dot com (although raise your hand if you remember IGN Sports from back in the day), but plenty of us nerds also happen to be pretty big fans. Shout out to the two cities who are happy with this year’s outcome while the rest of us are forced to watch the exact same Super Bowl we did last year. We’re definitely not bitter*. But, while two cities go to war, the rest of us will at least have good snacks while we root for both teams to lose**. Also, the trailers! Speaking of which, why not check out our breakdowns on the Fantastic Four: First Steps trailer and Jurassic World Rebirth trailer.
*I am a Lions fan, I am very bitter.
**Go birds.
If you had too much going on last week, here are all of the things that premiered or debuted on streaming and digital that you may have missed.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is still set for release in fall 2025, parent company Take-Two has insisted.
Reporting its third quarter ending December 31, 2024 financial results, the Rockstar owner listed GTA 6 for fall 2025 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S. It means that for now at least, GTA 6 is still on track for its previously announced release window and has not been delayed.
Speaking to IGN ahead of the release of its financial report, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick said that while "there's always a risk of slippage," the company "feel really good about it [fall 2025]."
"Look, there's always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things," Zelnick responded when IGN asked how confident he was that Rockstar will hit fall 2025 for GTA 6. "So we feel really good about it."
When asked for an update on how development on GTA 6 is going, Zelnick kept his cards close to his chest.
"Look, I think the game is eagerly anticipated both internally and externally," he said. "We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs. I'm fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we're all running scared and looking over our shoulders and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organization is super excited."
The GTA 6 release date is one of the hottest topics in all of entertainment, with rival publishers waiting with bated breath for Rockstar to make its announcement. Earlier this week, EA CEO Andrew Wilson said he was willing to delay the new Battlefield out of the next fiscal year depending on the release timing of its competitors’ games, a thinly veiled nod to the behemoth that is GTA 6.
While its release window remains firm, GTA 6's much-wanted Trailer 2 has yet to materialize. We're now over a year since Trailer 1's release, a gap that has caused plenty of feverish fan speculation. While you wait to find out, IGN has much more on GTA 6 to check out, including an ex-Rockstar dev who says the studio probably won’t be able to decide whether GTA 6 is delayed until May 2025, Zelnick's coy response on whether GTA 6 is coming to PC, and the expert opinion on whether the PS5 Pro will run GTA 6 at 60 frames per second.
Speaking generally about Rockstar, Take-Two said Grand Theft Auto 5 has now sold-in an incredible 210 million units worldwide. GTA Online had a “strong” quarter, led by the Agents of Sabotage update. GTA+ memberships increased 10% year-over-year in the quarter.
Red Dead Redemption 2, meanwhile, has sold-in more than 70 million copies. Take-Two noted it is currently seeing its highest level of concurrent players on Steam.
Take-Two has a busy 2025, with the just-released Civilization 7 from Firaxis, PGA Tour 2K25 and WWE 2K25 in March, Mafia: The Old Country in the summer, GTA 6 in the fall, and Gearbox’s Borderlands 4 before year-end.
“We are exceedingly optimistic about the commercial potential of our titles and believe that they will have a transformative effect on our business – and our industry – over the long term,” Take-Two said, before adding it remains “highly confident” it will achieve “sequential increases in, and record levels of, net bookings in fiscal 2026 and 2027.”

Starting this week, the official HP store is offering two great deals on HP Omen Transcend laptops thanks to an extra 20% off coupon code "DUO20" that works on select Omen gaming systems:
The Omen Transcend is HP's newest gaming laptop and it's lighter and thinner than the standard Omen, weighing in as low as 3.6lbs. It boasts better build quality and materials like a premium all-metal (aluminum) chassis, Corning gorilla glass display, and some models are even equipped with a gorgeous OLED panel. The Omen Transcend is an excellent option for anyone who wants a slim and easily portable laptop while still being able to play the latest games.
This HP Omen Transcend 16" gaming laptop is equipped with a 16" 2560x1600 IPS display, Intel Core i7-14700HX CPU, GeForce RTX 4070 GPU, 32GB of DDR5-5600MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The Intel Core i7-14700HX is a powerful 20-core (28-thread) CPU with a max clock speed of 5.5GHz. It's paired with an RTX 4070 GPU with a 130W TGP. This laptop is powerful enough to run pretty much any game out there at 60fps on the native 1600p resolution. If gaming is a priority for you, I'd recommend getting this model over the 14" model below. Although the 14" model is also equipped with an RTX 4070 GPU, it has a lower TGP rating (to lower power consumption and reduce heat) so it won't perform as well.
This HP Omen Transcend 14" gaming laptop is equipped with a gorgeous 14" 2880x1800 OLED display, Intel Core Ultra 9 185H CPU, GeForce RTX 4060 GPU, 32GB of DDR5-5600MHz RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. The newest generation Intel Core Ultra 9 185H is a power efficient, low voltage Meteor Lake CPU that's more than powerful enough to not be a bottleneck during gaming. The RTX 4070 GPU is a nice step up from the RTX 4060 but keep in mind that the TGP has been reduced to 80W to extend battery life and reduce power consumption. Since the display sports a very high 2.8K resolution, I'd recommend dropping the resolution down to 1080p and enabling DLSS while gaming in order to hit a consistent 60fps frame rate with the most demanding games. Even so, you definitely will not find a sub-4lb laptop with this much gaming prowess at its current price point.

Four years since its launch in 2021, the Botanical Collection has become one of LEGO's most successful lines. Targeted at a growing adult audience, the LEGO Botanical Collection features buildable flowers and plants that are, from a distance, indistinguishable from the real ones.
That's the point of them – to be LEGO sets for adults. Rather than collecting dust, forgotten, on a random shelf, they can hang up on a wall. Or sit on a window sill. Or be placed in a vase as a table centerpiece. This is LEGO as a lifestyle, to be decorative rather than interactive, and they make for great gifts for your loved ones.
Below we've laid out allof the details of our 10 favorite LEGO Plants and Flowers sets you can buy right now. Most of the flower LEGO bouquets we've featured can be placed in a vase, while the LEGO Plant sets come with a buildable base or pot.
You get all of the zen aura and none of the pruning. The LEGO Bonsai Tree comes with a buildable pot and stand, and tiny bricks to create the impression of pebbles. You can also swap out the green leaves for pink blossoms, depending on your preference.
Each succulent comes in its own pot, allowing you to arrange them as you please. There are nine succulent-inspired plants in total, and they're split into three instruction booklets, allowing multiple people to tackle the build together.
The orchid build strives for accuracy; LEGO advertises that this set has 5 leaves at its base and 2 wandering air roots. The stems and petals are adjustable, so that no two LEGO Orchids look exactly alike.
The LEGO Wildflower Bouquet is all about proper arrangement; after you build it, you'll need a glass vase to properly display them. The bouquet has eight different flowers: cornflowers, lavender, Welsh poppies, cow parsley, leatherleaf ferns, gerbera daisies, larkspur, and lupins.
It doesn't get more classic than a dozen roses. And the build is less repetitive than you might think; this LEGO bouquet includes roses in full bloom, roses in the process of blooming, and roses budding. Buy and build these for someone you love.
It's nine plants from all over the world, housed in terracotta pots. Some of them are easy to build and some of them are difficult, which makes this an ideal set if you're building as a family. The plants are false shamrock, jade plant, laceleaf, pincushion, pitcher plant, prickly pear, red sundew, succulents, and Venus flytrap.
It's only two twigs, but LEGO went all out with them. The LEGO Cherry Blossoms come with both white and pink buds, allowing you to personalize the build to your tastes. And they're only $15, which is a steal when it comes to LEGO pricing. This is one of the best cheap LEGO sets you can buy right now.
The LEGO Poinsettia sits in what appears to be a woven basket. There are lots of LEGO flowers with rounded edges. But the Poinsettia, by comparison, has lots of points and sharp ends. The red petals and create a bright, visual pop.
We built this set for Valentine's Day, and we were impressed by both its color palette and its various building techniques. The set includes nine different plants and flowers: daisy, cornflower, eucalyptus, elderflower, rose, ranunculus, cymbidium orchid, waterlily dahlia, and campanula.
The most expensive and elaborate Botanical Collection set to date, the Flower Arrangement has large blossoms of baby’s breath, bouvardia, camellias, hydrangeas, peonies, lilies, and ranunculus. You mount these vividly colored flowers onto a white pedestal vase. The vase can accommodate other LEGO Botanical sets in case you want to personalize your arrangement further.
According to the filter search option on LEGO's official site, there are 21 LEGO Botanical Collection sets available for purchase as of January 2025.
The LEGO Botanical Collection is a fantastic entry point for new builders; the sets are fairly simple to put together, and the end results can brighten a room. They are pretty and quirky, requiring neither water nor sunlight to keep them looking fresh.
And secondly, these sets make excellent gifts for Mother's Day, Valentine's Day, anniversaries, graduations, and more. For any holidays that celebrate loved ones or family, LEGO has you covered.

The Shrek movie universe is a fantastical and comedic world filled with fairy tale characters and charmingly quirky inhabitants. It centers around the lovable ogre Shrek, his feisty princess-turned-ogre-wife Fiona, and their loyal friends Donkey and Puss in Boots – a character which has earned his own series of films within this universe. The franchise combines humor, adventure, and heartwarming messages, exploring themes of acceptance, self-discovery, and the power of true love. With its memorable characters, witty dialogue, and clever adaptations of fairy tale tropes, Shrek series is full of animated classics beloved by audiences of all ages.
With Shrek 5 in the early stages of pre-production, there’s no way to tell when it will be released but at least there’s always the classics available to stream online.
With the promise of a Shrek revival, some fans may come to find that there is an addition to the Shrekverse that they haven’t seen yet. Considering that there are now 4 Shrek movies and 2 Puss in Boots spinoff movies, it can be easy to fall behind. Unfortunately, it's a little hard to track down the entire franchise on a single streaming service. The first three Shrek movies are all on Peacock, while the fourth is on Max and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish finds it home on Prime Video. All of the movies are available to rent or buy digitally on various platforms, with Puss in Boots being the only title not on a streaming service.
Here's our full breakdown of how to watch the Shrek and Puss in Boots movies online in 2025:
If Shrek truly is your love, perhaps even your life, you'll be happy to know there are plenty of options for adding the ogre to your shelf. Most of the original Shrek movies are available on Blu-ray, while the Puss in Boots movies have been released in 4K Ultra HD.
The chronological order of the Shrek movies is somewhat indirect in its presentation, but can be figured out with a closer look at the series of events. One could simply watch the movies based on their release date and get the full picture, or taking a look at our guide on how to watch the Shrek movies in order explainer can help. The list of full-length films does not include the many animated shorts and series and spinoffs; those are only organized into the canon if the viewer wishes to include them.

What if superheroes weren’t always… good? This seemed to be the primary question coming out of the 2010s era of MCU superhero movies. While a show like The Boys took to hyper-realistic live-action gore, Prime Video's Invincible depicts the "moral complications" of superheroes while keeping the animation's art style true to its comic book roots. The result is an equally gruesome depiction of superhero life featuring bold characters, complicated powers, and some of the best writing in adult animation.
After a smaller-than-usual break between seasons, Season 3 of Invincible is hitting streaming just a year after the release of Season 2. If you're wondering where to stream Season 3 of Invincible or want to start the show for the first time, check out the details below.
Invincible Season 3 is streaming exclusively on Prime Video. Standalone Prime Video subscriptions start at $8.99/month, but are also included in Amazon Prime memberships, which start at $14.99/month and include the usual Amazon perks (cough free shipping cough). Amazon Prime also offers a 30-day free trial.
Invincible Season 3 premiered with three episodes on February 6. From there, single episodes will be released weekly on Thursdays until mid-March with no midseason break. (Prime Video got the hint about that after the reaction to the midseason break in Season 2.) Like previous seasons, Season 3 will run for eight episodes.
Here’s the full episode release schedule for Invincible Season 3:
Season 3 of Invincible picks up where Season 2 left off, with Mark Grayson growing into his superhero identity while navigating his social life and the existing hierarchy of heroes, villains, and people who could arguably be both. For anyone new to Invincible who isn’t quite ready for spoilers, here’s the official synopsis for the show, based on the comics by Robert Kirkman:
Invincible has already been greenlit for a fourth season. The renewal came pretty soon after the Season 2 finale, back at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con. While Season 2 and 3 have aired relatively close to one another, there’s no word on when to expect a fourth season. With recent feedback on breaks between seasons, one can hope Invincible Season 4 arrives at some point in 2026.
Invincible was created by Robert Kirkman based on his own comics, which were created alongside Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley. Simon Racioppa serves as the showrunner. With a little bit of care taken to prevent spoilers, here’s some of the voice cast that stars in Invincible:
Additionally, per Deadline, Prime Video has announced that Aaron Paul, Simu Liu, Jonathan Banks, Kate Mara, Xolo Maridueña, John DiMaggio, Tzi Ma, Doug Bradley, and Christian Convery will be joining the cast of Invincible Season 3.
If you love this series, you may also want to check out the Invincible board game we reviewed just last year. It's a Hero-Building game that brings the characters from the series to the tabletop.
Indiana Jones actor Harrison Ford has said Troy Baker playing the beloved character in video game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is proof "you don't need artificial intelligence to steal my soul."
Ford discussed alleviating control of Indy with The Wall Street Journal Magazine, saying he was very happy with the performance of The Last of Us actor Baker.
"You don’t need artificial intelligence to steal my soul," Ford said. "You can already do it for nickels and dimes with good ideas and talent. He did a brilliant job, and it didn’t take AI to do it."
The Great Circle arrived in December as an "authentic" but maybe not canonical entry in the long running series, which received its first new film in a long time in 2023 with Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
This wasn't well received at all, however, while the game was, so the creatives behind the franchise might be inclined to go in this new direction instead of having Ford put the hat back on.
The legendary actor of Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and soon Marvel fame is one of many creatives to criticize the use of AI in films and other forms of media, with the likes of Tim Burton calling AI generated art "very disturbing" and Nicolas Cage calling it a "dead end."
Several voice actors have rallied against it too, including Grand Theft Auto 5's Ned Luke who called out a chatbot which used his voice. The Witcher voice actor Doug Cockle also told IGN that AI was "inevitable" but "dangerous", sharing in Luke's assessment that chatbots and similar uses are "effectively robbing [voice actors] of income."
Ryan Dinsdale is an IGN freelance reporter. He'll talk about The Witcher all day.
If you’re in the market for a new power bank, the INIU 10000mAh is worth a look. Right now, it’s available on Amazon for $8.99—down from $22—when you use the 40% coupon and promo code GZ9FEQAG. It’s a solid option for charging your phone, AirPods, and other small gadgets.
Keep in mind that deals like this tend to disappear fast, so it might be best to act soon. This price is available only from the seller listed as Ships from Amazon, Sold by SimpleLife LLC. It also matches the Black Friday discount from last year.
I’ve been using this power bank myself, and I appreciate its reliability and value. That's how cheap this INIU Power Bank is, getting some decent extra cables will cost you more than the portable charger itself.

Sonic the Hedgehog toys get all the hype from fans of all ages. Some Sonic toys are easier to find, while others are so rare they cost a small fortune on eBay. However, one type of Sonic toy is extra special: plushies.
Tons of plushies of Sonic and friends (or enemies) are out in the world, waiting to be added to your growing collection of Sonic merch, from most common to ultra rare. For the sake of your wallet, we've narrowed it down to five Super Sonic, super-soft options. Here are the best types of Sonic plushies we found in 2025.
Squishmallows are the most popular brand of plushies and Sonic and his friends have been mallow-fied to perfection. However, of all the Sonic characters in the collection, we’re nominating Tails for best Sonic Squishmallow. What makes the Tails Squishmallow design even better than the rest is he actually has his signature twin tails. While the Tails version is our favorite, you can also get Sonic, Knuckles, and Shadow as a Squishmallow. The latest Shadow version is a great option if you just finished watching the latest movie.
This 7-inch Sonic the Hedgehog plushie is the cutest plush you could ever get a kid. This Classic Sonic design is made with a premium, super-soft fabric that can withstand every play session and outing it's brought along to. This plush is great for kids and adults who are kids at heart, including yours truly. It's small enough to take wherever you go, or place it on your desk to look at or squeeze when you need to relieve stress at work.
The Shadow the Hedgehog plush from Great Eastern Entertainment is the most accurately designed Shadow plush you can find on the market. The curves on his spiky hair stand upright as they would when he’s idle, and his air shoes are incredibly detailed, down to the last hole in the soles. In addition to being an excellent plush for anyone’s Sonic toy collection, you can take this Shadow plush to any anime convention, or just sit him on your couch to watch Sonic 3.
The large Hero Chao plush from the Sonic Adventure 2 line of plushies has become a rare and expensive item for Sonic fans to get their hands on, but Great Eastern Entertainment has you covered with the smaller 6-inch Hero Chao plush. This plush is designed after the Hero Chao model on the Sonic Adventure 2: Battle cover art, with its arms folded together in front, and has a string that you can hang from anywhere for easy display.
Show off the Sonic the Hedgehog's giant head with the Club Mocchi-Mocchi- Sonic the Hedgehog plush. Mocchi-Mocchi- are plush pillow heads originating from Japan that are designed to be twice as soft, squishy, and huggable as Squishmallows are. The only difference is that Sonic’s facial features and his trademark hairdo are designed with a little more accuracy to his features in-game. Use it as your pillow at night and have sweet dreams of running through Green Hill Zone.
Unlike Pokemon plush toys, three isn't a Sonic-specific retailer where you can buy all of the various plushies available. Because of that, the overall best place to buy Sonic the Hedgehog plushies online is through Amazon. You can also find Sonic plushies for sale at Target, Walmart, and even GameStop, but the lowest prices and greatest variety appears to be on Amazon in 2025.

This isn't the first time Arita has painted a Magic card, but his previous addition was a single, borderless art version of Lumra, Bellow of the Woods from last year's Bloomburrow set. So to get four new cards all at once shortly after that is a big jump.
In addition to that, the inclusions all see some sort of play accross different formats. The iconic Lighting Bolt is played pretty much everywhere it is allowed, and Murktide Regent has been a powerful card in both Modern and Legacy since its release in Modern Horizons 2 in 2021. Meanwhile, Light-Paws is a well-loved Commander on its own, and Shorikai has both found a comfy home for itself in many Vintage Cubes and is currently the 20th most popular Commander overall according to EDHRec.
Wizards of the Coast describes this drop on its store page as such: "With nearly 30 years of experience creating beloved art for trading card games, Mitsuhiro Arita’s work has become some of the most recognizable in the world. His first collaboration with Magic: The Gathering was on a borderless Lumra, Bellow of the Woods released in 2024’s Bloomburrow, which quickly became a fan-favorite. In this Secret Lair Drop, the legendary artist returns to showcase his iconic creature design across four remarkable cards."
As usual with Secret Lair drops, this one will be available on the Secret Lair website in non-foil for $29.99 and foil for $39.99, with both only being made available while supplies last starting on Monday, February 10 at 9am PT. Secret Lairs can tend to sell out fast these days, a point of irration within the community since WOTC switched from a timed print-to-order system last year, so if you're looking to snag them you'll want to be there as soon as they go live.
For more on Magic, you can learn more about its death race set, Aetherdrift, which launches in the next week, check out past Secret Lairs we've revealed like Chucky and Monty Python, or read about how WOTC aims to set Magic up for long-term success.

Love Hurts opens in theaters Friday, February 7.
Love Hurts is what rock critics used to call a “bastard love child.” Mate the mayhem of John Wick with the boogie of Quentin Tarantino and out pops an annoyingly quirky offspring. David Leitch, the former stuntman who produced this labored action-comedy, dabbled in such designer breeding a few years ago in his flashy IMAX caper Bullet Train, spiking a shallow gene pool of Pulp Fiction knockoffs with some kung-fu choreography. Love Hurts is like a runt from the same litter – shorter, a little gentler, but possessed of matching dominant traits. You can, once again, expect the hitmen to trade banal chitchat when not engaged in brutal, acrobatic, hand-to-hand combat.
As in Nobody, the 2021 Leitch concoction starring Bob Odenkirk as an unassuming ex-hit man, a wolf comes in sheep’s clothing. He is Marvin Gable (Ke Huy Quan), a relentlessly upbeat realtor securing dream homes for happy couples in a conspicuously Canadian stretch of American suburbia. (The film was shot in Winnipeg, but it’s set nowhere in particular.) First seen removing heart-shaped cookies from the oven, Marvin floats through his days on a cloud of positivity and professional satisfaction. What his coworkers don’t know is that this softie is secretly a Wickian badass – a reformed killing machine whose old life and bloody career come violently knocking.
This is Quan’s first headlining role since his triumphant comeback in the metaphysical, multiversal Everything Everywhere All at Once – a more imaginative genre pastiche, to put it mildly. In that film, the former child star grounds the reality-jumping lunacy with his vulnerability. Here, he’s stuck playing a walking punchline: the angel of death less interested in moldering bodies than crown moulding. Love Hurts keeps yanking the character into reluctant brawls, like the one where he trades blows with an assassin behind an office’s frosted glass walls, poking his head out between bouts of combat to flash an all-is-well grin. But there’s no actual glimmer of darkness to Marvin; the reveal that he used to kill people for a living doesn’t compute, because Quan plays him like a cuddly wrong man guilelessly dodging blows and blades.
The plotting of this oddly paced, farcical noir of murderous knuckleheads is somehow both convoluted and arbitrary. It involves Marvin getting pulled back, against his will, into the orbit of his brother and former employer, the goofily monikered, boba-craving kingpin Knuckles (Daniel Wu). (He finds a deadly use for his favorite treat’s signature wide straw during one of a few scenes that tips the film’s wonky tonal balance from sweet to sour.) The anchor of Love Hurts, which is opening just in time for Valentine’s Day, is meant to be Marvin’s unconsummated, possibly reciprocated feelings for sultry nightclub dame Rose (Ariana DeBose), who’s reemerged years after he helped her escape the life. But the romance between these recent Oscar winners never sparks, maybe because DeBose – who plays Rose as arch as a quotation mark – overcranks the campy vampiness. Overcompensating for this pointed absence of chemistry, first-time director Jonathan Eusebio supplies both characters with periodic, clunky voice-over narration – a way for them to simply state their feelings and motivations aloud. (“I know I have to face my past to truly be free,” Quan at one point murmurs.)
You get the distinct impression that full passages of Love Hurts were left on the editing-room floor en route to a mercilessly trim 80 minutes. Nevertheless, stunt veteran Eusebio stages the close-quarters showdowns with clarity and verve. But there’s nothing in the action department that we haven’t seen before and better. While Bullet Train pushed the Wick school of mechanically precise gun- and knife-play to a slapstick peak of intentional self-parody, Love Hurts never gets past the supposed hilarity of Marvin dipping out of the crossfire for a second to play smiling realtor again.
If that running gag doesn’t leave you in stitches, maybe the gallery of cartoon lowlifes will. We get Rhys Darby as a mewling Kiwi mob accountant, André Eriksen and former football star Marshawn Lynch as sitcom goons, and Mustafa Shakir as a hired gun whose sensitive poetry – he throws feathered daggers, the pen being mightier than the sword and all – helps him improbably woo Marvin’s harried assistant (Lio Tipton). The movie even finds room for a groan-inducing cameo by one of the Property Brothers. Love Hurts may take its more bruising cues from the school of visceral East-meets-West actioners that Leitch helped popularize, but it’s just as close in spirit to the sardonic crime larks that cropped up like weeds in the aftermath of Pulp Fiction. You know, the kind that made film lovers want to get medieval on Hollywood’s ass.
But Love Hurts doesn’t really step into Tarantino Land until the climax, when the action shifts to the villain’s video-store headquarters, a veritable amusement-park lair of cult memorabilia. Here, the walls are lined with posters for imaginary kung-fu movies, a Mortal Kombat II cabinet flashes and plinks, and a jukebox supplies the inevitable final fight with some ironically sweet Motown accompaniment. Is that Marvin Gaye we hear before horns and whistles create a counterfeit Ennio Morricone vibe? Our hero had to get his name from somewhere, though at least one other unlucky Marvin leaps to mind, too.
Assassin's Creed Shadows is getting a prequel manga but not until after the game comes out, Ubisoft has announced.
The company revealed on X/Twitter that, while the prequel manga will arrive in Japan on the game's release date of March 20, it won't arrive elsewhere until "later."
"Discover the official prequel of the game," Ubisoft said. "Follow the story a young Assassin apprentice as she fights against the growing presence of the Templars order in Japan."
This assassin is seemingly not protagonist Naoe, however, as she's depicted in the opening of Assassin's Creed Shadows as not being aware of the era spanning battle between Assassins and Templars. It could therefore be her mother or a teacher or someone else entirely.
#AssassinsCreedShadows will get its own manga!

It will presumably set up the background context of Assassin's Creed Shadows, however, even though it does come after the game. It's unclear if the manga will be a serialized story or if it will all come in one go, though the front cover does have a number one on it.
A lot rests on the shoulders of Assassin's Creed Shadows as not only the long-awaited Japan-set entry and the first full Assassin's Creed since 2020, but a struggling Ubisoft needs it to perform well following recent flops and investor frustration.
It's not enjoyed a particularly positive promotional period so far, however, with the development team having to apologize on separate occasions for inaccuracies in Assassin's Creed Shadows' depictions of Japan and using a historical recreation group's flag without permission.
Yet another controversy came as collectible figure maker PureArts removed an Assassin's Creed Shadows statue from sale over its "insensitive" design, and combined with the two delays, fans are growing increasingly impatient as a result.
