LG's OLED TVs have been our favorite TVs for console gaming for three years running thanks to their outstanding image quality, low input lag, and high refresh rate. I don't see as many gaming-specific earbuds as I do gaming headsets. In fact, this is Steelseries' first product release in the category. What makes this earbud more gaming focused is that it can be paired with a mobile app (for console, you use the Steelseries GG software for PC) preloaded with over 100 different audio presets customed tailored to specific video games and genres. Each earbud contains a 6mm neodymium magnetic driver that can simulate bass and spatial audio effects. Also, the Gamebuds connects to your PS5 or PC over a fast and reliable 2.4GHz wireless networking with the included USB Type-C dongle. No headset is complete without a built-in microphone, and the Gamebuds has a decent one, although not nearly as good as an extendable boom mic.

The Gamebuds can be used outside of gaming, of course. Like any good pair of in-ear buds at this price point, the Gamebuds features Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity and active noise cancellation. Three different sized eartipsa are included for a more customized fit. The battery life is below average at 10 hours, but a charging case is included that extends playtime to 40 hours before needing to recharge.

I have a pair of these myself and quite like it. I prefer these over standard headphones on hotter days, because my ears sweat profusely when I use traditional over-ear headsets. Not so with these Gamebuds.

The release of the Arc Ultra doesn't make the Arc any less of an outstanding speaker. The 45" soundbar houses eleven precisely engineered internal speakers, including three tweeters and eight midwoofers each paired with Class-D amplifiers. It's capable of room filling audio by itself, but you'd still benefit from a separate subwoofer to round out the low end. Unlike the Sonos Beam, which only has virtual height channels, the Arc has two physical height channels for true Dolby Atmos support. The Arc also has a built-in microphone for smart assistant compatiblity, including voice control.

The Meta Quest 3 costs $200 more than the Quest 3S at retail, and for good reason. Although the two share several similarities - they have the same Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 processor, Touch Plus controllers with inside-out tracking, and mixed reality passthrough - the Quest 3 features far superior optics. The Quest 3 adopts a new pancake lens design that's slimmer, has a higher resolution (30% more pixels), wider FOV display, and a bigger "sweet spot". The Quest 3 also starts with more storage. I own it myself (and I reviewed it for IGN) and have logged over a thousand hours in Beat Saber alone.

Steelseries' flagship headset leaves no feature unwanted, as should be if you're going to charge $600 for a gaming headset. I haven't been able to try out these headphones myself (and probably won't be able to afford these for a while), but fortunately Will Judd at IGN recently wrote up a very thorough review. In short, nothing else compares.

The discounted price of $539.99 isn't exactly "cheap", but $60 in savings is nothing to scoff at. After all, this headset wasn't even on sale during Cyber Monday or Black Friday. There's also plenty of time to receive it before Christmas. If you're a rich uncle looking to making his gamer niece or nephew veryhappy, then you can't go wrong with this as a gift.

The Arctis Nova Pro is one of the highest-end gaming headsets in SteelSeries' repertoire. Only the Nova Elite, which retails for $600, is higher up the ladder. Like any proper top-of-the-line headset, the Nova Pro boasts excellent sound quality, all-day comfort thanks to a suspension style headband and leatherette ear cushions, high-performance retractable boom mic, simultaneous 2.4GHz WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity, and even active noise cancelation (rare for a gaming headset).

However, the one feature that undoubtedly makes the Nova Pro stand out is the ingenious hot-swappable battery system. The Nova Pro includes two removable, rechargeable batteries so that while one is currently in use in your headset, the other stays topped up in a base station that also doubles as a battery charger. This way, you get wireless freedom with no charge anxiety. Each battery lasts for up to 22 hours of continued use so you don't need to swap out too often.

The base station deserves mention as well. Not only does it charge your battery, it also features a clear and legible OLED display and a handy volume control knob. On the rear are USB inputs for connecting to your PC as well as an optional 3.5mm passthrough should you want to connect your speakers directly to the base station.

The Nova Pro wireless has been my primary gaming headset for years and I absolutely recommend them. I've since upgraded the stock earcups to these aftermarket WC Freeze gel earpads and quite like them as well. This official Microsoft Xbox controller is identical to the one that's bundled with the Xbox Series X and S console. Standard features include textured grips, hybrid D-pad, button mapping with the Xbox app, a 3.5mm audio jack that works with any wired headset, and a Share button to upload screenshots and video.

The controller supports both Xbox wireless and Bluetooth connectivity. That means you can use it for your PC or mobile device. The Asus TUF F16 is a solid mid-range 2025 model featuring an anodized aluminum top and durable polycarbonate chassis. It weighs in at about 5 pounds and measures 0.7" thin. Full specs include a 16" 1920x1200 165Hz display, Intel Core i7-14650HX CPU, GeForce RTX 5070 GPU, 16GB of DDR5 RAM, and a 1TB SSD. The Intel Core i7-14650HX is a 2024 HX-series processor with a max turbo frequency of 5.2GHz and a total of 16 cores and 24 threads. Although this is a slightly older 2024 model, it's still an excellent, powerful mobile processor that will perform well in both gaming and general multi-tasking productivity, even in apps that can utilize multiple cores.

The GeForce RTX 5070 is an unthrottled 115W model

The RTX 5070 is an unthrottled model with 115W TGP (not including dynamic CPU boost) and performs about 5%-10% better than the RTX 4070 that it replaces. That's not a very big generational improvement, but the RTX 5070 has the newer DLSS 4 technology with multi-frame generation, which widens the performance gap in games that support it. It's capable of handling just about every game out there on the display's 1920x1200 resolution. Some people prefer a higher resolution laptop screen, but in my opinion, it's an unnecessary load on resources for minimal visual fidelity gain. A 16" FHD+ laptop display has a pixel density of roughly 140ppi, which is comparable to a 32" monitor with 4K resolution.

MSI Katana (2025) RTX 5070 Gaming Laptop for $1,049

Walmart has another similar model - the MSI Katana - for a slightly lower price of $1,049. This laptop is equipped with a smaller 15" display but it has a higher 2560x1400 (QHD) resolution and 165Hz native refresh rate. The rest of the specs, including the CPU, GPU, RAM, and SSD are mostly identical. The Katana uses a composite plastic for both the top lid and the chassis, if that matters to you. It weighs in at about 5.3 pounds.
