Phantom Blade Zero gets official September 2026 release date

15 décembre 2025 à 16:00

Phantom Blade Zero is one of the more intriguing PlayStation-aligned projects to be shown off in recent years. Initially announced back in Summer of 2023, the game excited many with its stylish and flashy combat which for some seemed too smooth to be real. That said, Phantom Blade Zero is real and is coming out soon(ish), with the game having officially been announced to launch in September of next year.

Making the announcement during The Game Awards, studio S-Game offered another look at Phantom Blade Zero and its “kungfupunk world shaped by conspiracy, intrigue, and cinematicmartial action.”

While a solid trailer in its own right, the most exciting part of the announcement was the confirmation that the game is scheduled to launch on the 9th of September 2026 for PS5 and PC.

Given that this is still 9 months away, it would not be surprising to see the title get a delay at some point. That said, with GTA VI scheduled to launch in November, it is unlikely that S-Game would want to hold their game back for too long.

Whether it truly arrives in September or not, Phantom Blade Zero looks to offer an experience which will hopefully be worth the wait.

KitGuru says: Are you excited for Phantom Blade Zero? What are your thoughts on the aesthetics? Does the combat look too choreographed? Let us know down below.

Ace Combat 7 nears 7 million sales ahead of game’s 7th anniversary

15 décembre 2025 à 15:00

The Ace Combat series is easily the most well known in the combat flight sim genre, with the franchise stretching all the way back to 1995. The latest entry, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown launched back in 2019 has continued to see consistent sales. With Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve finally being unveiled at The Game Awards, the team revealed that AC7 is closing in on 7 million copies sold.

Taking part in an interview conducted by the Japanese publication Famitsu, Ace Combat director Kazutoki Kono and producer Manabu Shimomoto were asked for an update on Skies Unknown’s total sales – revealing that the title “will soon reach 7 million copies.”

As mentioned, Ace Combat 7 has been a pretty consistent seller, with the title having managed to shift roughly a million copies each year since launch (aided in part by its release across additional platforms); reaching 5 million by its 5th anniversary and 6 million by its 6th.

Ace Combat 7 Million

With roughly a month to go until Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown’s 7th anniversary, it appears as though the game will once again reach a substantial milestone which lines up neatly with its years on the market and entry number.

Given that Ace Combat 8 has now been officially announced however, it will be interesting to see whether sales for the previous title begin to slow down.

KitGuru says: Are you a fan of the Ace Combat series? Have you been waiting for a new game? Will Wings of Theve outsell Skies Unknown in the long-run? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Nioh 3 to get another demo next month ahead of February launch

15 décembre 2025 à 14:00

Team Ninja have been great in supporting their upcoming releases with free demos for all to check out and enjoy. Such has been the case with the Nioh series, offering various alpha, beta and timed-limited demos across its previous two entries. With Nioh 3 officially confirmed to be launching in early February, Team Ninja have announced a demo for the threequel – arriving one week ahead of the full game.

Announced during The Game Awards, Team Ninja / Koei Tecmo confirmed that Nioh 3 will officially launch on the 6th of February 2026.

For those who can’t wait that long however, a demo will be released shortly ahead of its full arrival, landing on the 29th of January. Unlike the previous Nioh 3 demo from earlier this year, the upcoming snippet appears not to be time-limited.

Additionally, players will be able to transfer their save data over from the demo to the full game upon its release – suggesting that it will likely be the first few playable hours in demo form.

Regardless, having a demo of any kind for a game is an increasingly rare occurrence, and so it is encouraging to see Team Ninja continue to give players the opportunity to try before they buy.

KitGuru says: Are you looking forward to Nioh 3? Did you partake in the first demo? Should game demos be a requirement? Let us know down below.

Xbox Developer Direct confirmed for January 2026

15 décembre 2025 à 13:00

One of the few decisions made by Xbox in recent years which has turned out to be a success has been the launching of their Xbox Developer Direct Showcase. Having taken place in January of 2024 and 2025, it comes as little surprise that Microsoft is planning a 2026 edition of the showcase – now confirmed to be going live next month.

In an interview conducted by the publication Variety, president of game content and studios at Microsoft ‘Matt Booty’ confirmed that a 2026 edition of their dev direct will be happening in January, while also teasing some of the expected projects, stating:

“I can't share exactly what's there, but we've got a lot of stuff that we're shipping next year. In fact, usually Dev Direct is about highlighting what's coming up for the year ahead. This year, we've got more stuff coming up than we can fit in one show.”

Xbox Developer Direct

Booty continued, “So I will tell you that Playground Games is going to be in the Dev Direct, but we'll have more stuff next year to ship than we can fit into one Dev Direct show in January, which is a good place to be.”

Whether this means that Xbox will host a second direct later in the year, or will instead save up those announcements for other industry shows we will have to wait and see. That said, Microsoft has been pretty successful with their Developer Directs so far and so it is encouraging to see them continuing the practice.

KitGuru says: Have you enjoyed the previous Xbox Directs? Outside of Forza, what do you hope to see shown off? Will we get a look at Fable? Let us know your thoughts down below.

PRAGMATA release date announced; Demo available now

12 décembre 2025 à 17:00

Capcom’s Pragmata has been a long time coming, with the 3rd-person sci-fi action-strategy title being first announced all the way back at the PlayStation 5’s reveal event. In the half a decade since, the game has seen multiple delays, with Pragmata eventually resurfacing earlier this year alongside a promised 2026 release. Finally however, not only have we gotten a confirmed release date, but Capcom have published a demo for all to check out.

Announced during the 2025 Game Awards, Capcom’s long-awaited Pragmata was finally given a confirmed release date: launching on the 24th of April 2026.

Given the fact that Capcom confirmed earlier this year that the game would arrive some time in 2026, this announcement does not come as too big of a surprise.

What was surprising however was the reveal that Pragmata is not only coming to the PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC as previously claimed but is also set to launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 day-and-date with all other systems.

Given just how long it's been since the game was first announced, there has been an air of caution surrounding Pragmata. Fortunately, for those who remain unsure, a demo has been released on Steam, letting you “try out this combat system that engages both sides of your brain, while you also get to experience what it's like to traverse the lunar research station.”

KitGuru says: Are you excited for Pragmata? Will it have been worth the wait? What are your thoughts on the demo? Let us know down below.

Xbox exclusive South of Midnight comes to PS5 and Switch 2 next year

12 décembre 2025 à 16:00

Since their decision to begin releasing Xbox console exclusives onto Sony’s PlayStation platform, Microsoft has ported over a wide range of its first-party releases at a surprisingly rapid cadence. Just days on from the PS5 launch of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2025, Compulsion Games’ South of Midnight has now been announced to be coming to both PlayStation and the Nintendo Switch 2 in Spring of next year.

South of Midnight is the first project from studio Compulsion Games since they were acquired by Microsoft back in 2018. Released earlier this year for Xbox and PC, the title was praised for its music, storytelling and art design, but was unfortunately hampered by repetitive gameplay and combat in particular.

That said, South of Midnight did resonate with many, and so as part of Microsoft’s continued push towards 3rd-party publishing, the company has now announced that the title is coming to both the PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2 some time in “Spring 2026.”

South of Midnight Xbox

No further details have been shared, however given the fact that the game originally launched in April earlier this year, it would not be surprising to see its multi-platform release be tied into South of Midnight’s 1st anniversary.

As with many of the other Xbox games ported to PlayStation, hopefully this new release comes with some included enhancements/improvements.

KitGuru says: Did you check out South of Midnight earlier this year? What did you think? What changes/enhancements would you like to see added to this upcoming release? Let us know down below.

Following fan backlash, Aspyr indefinitely delays upcoming Deus Ex remaster

12 décembre 2025 à 15:00

The original Deus Ex is an undeniable classic, with the immersive sim not only spawning a long-running franchise, but also helped to put the genre onto the map. In celebration of the game’s 25th anniversary, a remaster was announced. Unfortunately, a highly poor reception towards the initial trailer has now led studio Aspyr to indefinitely delay the project.

Taking to Twitter to make the announcement, porting ‘specialists’ Aspyr confirmed that their controversial Deus Ex remaster will no longer arrive early next year as initially planned, with the studio writing:

“Thank you to the community for your feedback following the reveal of Deus Ex Remastered. We've listened to what you said, and in order to better meet fan expectations and deliver the best possible experience for players, Deus Ex Remastered will no longer launch on Feb. 5, 2026.”

As mentioned, no new release date nor a release window was given, with the studio simply stating: “We look forward to sharing more updates with you when the time comes”. All those who did pre-order the remaster will be “fully refunded,” so you can rest easy in that regard.

The original Deus Ex is an excellent game, though one which unfortunately has not aged well in many ways. As such, while a remaster is highly welcome, the product presented by Aspyr left much to be desired, and so it is encouraging to see them going back to the drawboard somewhat.

KitGuru says: Do you have fond memories of the original Deus Ex? What was your initial reaction to the remaster trailer? How should they approach the game’s visuals? Let us know down below.

Left4Dead creator announces PlayStation-published co-op shooter 4:LOOP

12 décembre 2025 à 14:00

Just last week, Sony announced that they had partnered with the original creator of the iconic Left4Dead series ‘Mike Booth’ to work on “an unannounced four-player, cooperative shooter”. It didn’t take long for us to learn more about this collaboration, with the PlayStation-published 4:LOOP being officially shown off during The Game Awards.

Developed by Bad Robot Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, 4:LOOP has been officially announced: “A four-player co-op shooter set in an original sci-fi universe” in which you must “experiment” and “improvise” to “see if you can beat the odds.”

Appearing to be somewhat inspired by Helldivers II, 4:LOOP has you drop-in with pods to eliminate hordes of enemies in a mixed 3rd-person / 1st-person perspective based on whether you are aiming your weapon or not.

Through the brief gameplay snippets shared, 4:LOOP does not appear to be anything too special. As with most co-op titles however, you won’t know how the game truly feels and plays until you get your hands on it.

Fortunately, while no release date has been given, Sony confirmed that they will be hosting early playtests for the game – the details of which can be found HERE.

Mike Booth and Valve/Turtle Rock managed to catch lightning in a bottle twice with both Left4Dead 1 and 2. While 4:LOOP is unlikely to be the spiritual successor many were desiring, here’s to hoping that the game manages to be a great title in its own right.

KitGuru says: What did you think of the announcement trailer? Does it look interesting? Is Mike Booth being attached to the project a draw for you? Let us know down below.

Uncharted 4 and TLOU co-director officially announces ‘Coven of the Chicken Foot’

12 décembre 2025 à 13:00

In the lead up to The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley teased that fans would be getting a first look at the brand new game from Bruce Straley – the co-director for both Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us. Having left Naughty Dog all the way back in 2017, Straley has now officially unveiled Wildflower Interactive’s debut title: Coven of the Chicken Foot.

Officially announced during the 2025 Game Awards, Coven of the Chicken Foot is an “emotionally-rich, stylized, single-player adventure” in which you play as an elderly witch who works alongside “an odd creature” in order to navigate the world and survive.

Featuring “a semi-open world, systems-rich design, and thoughtful environmental storytelling” Coven of the Chicken Foots looks to be evoking classics such as ICO and The Last Guardian with a focus on offering a “a playable relationship driven by innovative technology” wherein “your creature-companion can observe, learn, and develop new behaviors based on contextual situations.”

Though far from the AAA juggernauts made during his time at Naughty Dog, Coven of the Chicken Foot appears to be filled with passion, vision and intent, and so it will be interesting to see how Straley’s first project in years winds up being when it arrives some time in the unknown future.

KitGuru says: What did you think of the announcement trailer? Is it what you were expecting? Could Coven of the Chicken Foot be a sleeper hit? Let us know down below.

Uncharted 4 and TLOU Director to announce new project at The Game Awards

11 décembre 2025 à 16:00

With the 2025 Game Awards less than 24 hours away, Geoff Keighley and co. have increasingly teased its line-up of game announcements planned for the upcoming show. Alongside the likes of Saros, the new Tomb Raider and more, The Game Awards is set to give us our first look at the next project from ex-Naughty Dog director Bruce Straley.

Taking to Twitter to tease the project, Game Awards creator Geoff Keighley confirmed that the upcoming show will feature “the announcement of the first game from Wildflower Interactive.”

While we’ve yet to get a name for the project, the brief video released alongside the announcement shows off what appears to be a rather stylised game – quite different to anything we’ve seen from Naughty Dog.

For the uninitiated, Bruce Straley started working at Naughty Dog all the way back during the Crash Bandicoot era, slowly rising the ranks and eventually going on to co-direct Uncharted 2, The Last of Us and Uncharted 4 – before ultimately leaving the studio in 2017.

Since then, we’ve heard very little from Straley, with Wildflower Interactive remaining relatively under the radar since its founding in 2021. That said, this unnamed project was previously confirmed to be “small-ish, creatively-charged [and] uniquely-stylized” in nature.

Whatever it winds up being, we won’t have to wait long to find out, with The Game Awards officially going live later tonight at a little bit past midnight in the UK.

KitGuru says: Are you looking forward to The Game Awards? Will you watch the show live? Which of the announced games/projects are you most excited to see? Let us know down below.

Rayman 2: The Great Escape is coming to Nintendo Switch Online

11 décembre 2025 à 15:00

For the past generation or so, Nintendo has been slowly but surely filling out its Nintendo Switch Online libraries with titles from across the company’s many classic consoles. Alongside first-party titles, NSO also includes select 3rd-party classics. Joining the service as part of the latter camp is Ubisoft’s Rayman, with ‘The Great Escape’ and sister series ‘Tonic Trouble’ set to arrive next week.

Making the announcement via a brief ‘Game Update’ video, Nintendo confirmed that the N64 classics Rayman 2: The Great Escape alongside Tonic Trouble are both heading to its NSO service next week on the 17th of December.

Rayman 2: The Great Escape is of course the second mainline entry in the Rayman series. Unlike the first game’s sidescrolling aesthetic, Rayman 2 took the series into 3D, with the 1999 title seeing strong reviews upon its initial release.

Tonic Trouble meanwhile is a sister-series of sorts to Rayman, with the Ubisoft-developed title serving as an engine tech project created in anticipation of their work on Rayman 2.

Both Tonic Trouble and Rayman The Great Escape are set to join Nintendo Switch Online this time next week on the 17th of December for all those subscribed to NSO’s Expansion Pack tier.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Nintendo Switch Online? How does it compare to their previous Virtual Console program? Let us know down below.

Fortnite reportedly set to crossover with popular manga/anime series Bleach

11 décembre 2025 à 14:15

Fortnite is easily the single game with the greatest number of franchise crossovers, with the free-to-play live-service juggernaut having collabed with countless IPs across all forms of media. Following the likes of Dragon Ball, Naruto, Attack on Titan, Jujutsu Kaisen and more, Fortnite’s next anime-themed crossover is reportedly with one of the ‘Big 3’ – Bleach.

As discovered by SamLeakss and corroborated by known Fortnite leaker HYPEX, a crossover between Fortnite and Bleach is set to take place in Early 2026, likely as part of the ongoing Chapter 7 Season 1.

Alongside One Piece and Naruto, Bleach was typically seen as being one of the ‘Big 3’ shonen anime from its era. Though the series fell off partway through its airing (leading to a premature cancellation), the franchise came back bigger and better than ever with the ongoing release of Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War.

Fortnite Bleach

Previous anime crossovers have taken quite varying forms. While the likes of the Dragon Ball collab saw parts of the map altered and new mechanics added to fit in with the crossover, Naruto’s primarily added purchasable skins (as well as a community-made Hidden Leaf Village map).

What form this Bleach crossover will take is currently unknown. That said, hopefully at the very least we will get to wield the show’s iconic ‘Zanpakutō’ Soul Cutters.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Fortnite’s anime collabs? Which has been your favourite? Have you been watching Thousand-Year Blood War? Let us know down below.

AC: Mirage, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and more coming to PlayStation Plus Extra

11 décembre 2025 à 13:30

Each month, Sony updates its PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium tiers with a selection of titles – both old and new alike. For the final month of 2025, Sony has confirmed that PS Plus members will be able to get their hands on nearly a dozen titles, including Assassin’s Creed Mirage and the day-one edition of Skate Story.

Making the announcement on the PlayStation Blog, Sony officially confirmed the full line-up of titles joining its PlayStation Plus Extra/Premium service this December. Set to go live on the 16th of December (aside from the aforementioned Skate Story which is out now), this month’s PS Plus additions include:

  • Assassin's Creed Mirage [PS5, PS4]
  • Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty [PS5, PS4]
  • Granblue Fantasy: Relink [PS5, PS4]
  • Planet Coaster 2 [PS5]
  • Cat Quest III [PS5, PS4]
  • Lego Horizon Adventures [PS5]
  • Paw Patrol: Grand Prix [PS5, PS4]
  • Paw Patrol World [PS5, PS4]
  • Soulcalibur III [PS5, PS4] – PS Plus Premium

PlayStation Plus Creed

While a strong month overall, perhaps the most interesting inclusion is LEGO Horizon Adventures, owing to the fact that it was already added to PlayStation Plus earlier this month through the Essential Tier.

Of course, unlike PS Plus Essential, LEGO Horizon Adventures could and should remain playable on the service for as long as PS Plus Extra exists. That said, we’ve seen Sony remove its own first-party titles from the service in the past, and so who knows how long it will remain.

Regardless, December’s line-up offers plenty of fun experiences to get stuck into this holiday season. Here’s to hoping that 2026 is an even better year for PlayStation Plus.

KitGuru says: What do you think of PlayStation Plus’ 2025 output? Is it worth paying more for the Extra tier? What about PS Plus Premium? Let us know down below.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag ‘Resynced’ has been rated by PEGI

10 décembre 2025 à 16:00

Back in early 2024, a rumour first popped up claiming that Ubisoft had greenlit the development of an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag remake. Since then, we’ve heard various bits and bobs surrounding the project – including the extent to which they plan to alter the game’s overall formula alongside its expected release date. While Ubisoft themselves have yet to make any official announcements, a listing for ‘Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’ has popped up on game rating boards.

As discovered by ResetEra user ‘–R’ the Pan-European Game Information (PEGI) ratings board has published a listing to their site for a game titled ‘Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’.

Though the page is no longer accessible, its listing seems to suggest that an official announcement from Ubisoft is imminent.

Black Flag Resynced

As mentioned, talk surrounding a Black Flag remake has persisted for a couple years now, with recent claims suggesting that the project could arrive as soon as March of 2026.

Given the fact that this supposed remake has now been publicly listed, it seems only a matter of time before the title is officially announced – perhaps during the 2025 Game Awards? We will have to wait and see.

KitGuru says: Do you have high hopes for the Black Flag remake? What do you think of the name? What other AC titles would you want to see get the full remake treatment? Let us know down below.

PlayStation’s 2025 annual Wrap-Up is now live

10 décembre 2025 à 15:00

As we near the end of the year, many different media services have started to release their annual wrap-up lists, letting you get a peek at your past 12 months of activities. As they have done for many years now, PlayStation’s annual Wrap-Up has now gone live, giving you a full recap of your 2025 in gaming.

Making the announcement via the PlayStation Blog, Sony officially confirmed that 2025’s PlayStation Wrap-up is now live, writing:

“From today through January 8, 2026, PS5 and PS4 players can access their PlayStation 2025 Wrap-Up experience to view their gaming achievements for the year, including most played games and genres, total hours played across single-player and multiplayer titles, a personalized PlayStation Plus playlist, and trophy milestones.”

Wrap-Up 2025

As of writing, the site is giving an internal server error due to the sudden increase in user traffic. That said, alongside the above, PlayStation’s Wrap-up for 2025 also details some more niche stats including “insights around gameplay with accessories like PlayStation VR2, PlayStation Portal remote player, as well as your most used DualSense wireless controller design.”

Like with previous iterations, those who take part in this year's wrap-up will receive a couple bonus digital items, namely “a unique glass-themed avatar as well as access their summary card.”

End-of-year summaries are always fun to take a look at. Whether it be for music, shows, or in this case games, being able to reflect on your past 12 months of media consumption is interesting; for the sake of curiosity if nothing else.

KitGuru says: Do you enjoy annual wrap-ups? What does your 2025 summary look like? Which game did you play the most throughout the year? Let us know down below.

PlayStation confirms Returnal follow-up Saros will be at The Game Awards

10 décembre 2025 à 14:00

Housemarque’s Returnal is still one of the PlayStation 5’s best first-party exclusives, with the 2021 title offering a compelling mix of 3rd-person shooting, arcadey movement and combat wrapped up in a rogue-like bow. Since its release, the game has garnered a ton of praise with Sony even going on to acquire Housemarque. Now officially under the PlayStation banner, Housemarque’s latest project – Saros – has been confirmed to be shown off at the 2025 Game Awards.

Making the announcement via Twitter, the official PlayStation page confirmed that Saros will be shown off at the upcoming Game Awards, writing: “Come back stronger. Get a new look at Saros @thegameawards this Thursday, Dec 11.”

Saros Housemarque

For the uninitiated, Saros was first unveiled earlier this year during February’s State of Play alongside a 2026 release year. Though a new IP, the follow-up to Returnal has clearly been influenced by it, with what little was shown off so far indicating that it will build on Returnal’s mechanics while offering a greater amount of meta-progression.

All that said, we have yet to see much from the game, with the initial announcement trailer primarily being vibes-focused. As such, it will be highly exciting to get a proper taste of exactly how Saros looks and plays in just a few days' time.

KitGuru says: Are you excited for Saros? What did you think of Returnal? Do you prefer Rogue-likes/lites with more or less meta-progression? Let us know your thoughts down below.

Capcom plans to turn DMC, Mega Man and Ace Attorney into “core IPs”

10 décembre 2025 à 13:00

For the past generation or so, Capcom has been in the upper echelon of video game developers / publishers, with many of their titles not only being critical hits, but commercial ones too. While Capcom has primarily focused on its major IPs in recent years, the publisher has expressed interest in bringing the likes of Mega Man and Devil May Cry back into the limelight.

As part of the company’s latest Integrated Report, Capcom COO Haruhiro Tsujimoto revealed that the publisher has plans to revitalise many of its more ‘niche’ franchises, stating:

“We consistently release two to three major new titles each year, but recognize the need to grow our pipeline going forward. Capcom owns a wealth of globally popular brands, such as Mega Man, Devil May Cry, and Ace Attorney. We aim to expand our user base and improve our performance through new releases, remakes, and ports of titles in these series to new hardware. By enhancing brand power and cultivating loyal fan bases, we will grow these into core IPs.”

Capcom Devil Mat Cry

While Capcom is of course home to many different popular IPs, there are a few which stand above the rest, with the likes of Resident Evil and Monster Hunter dwarfing all other franchises sales-wise.

Given the lineage of Capcom however and the potential within many of their lesser-supported franchises, it is encouraging to see them willing to give some of their more medium-tier IPs a chance to become something greater.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Capcom in 2025? Have they been focusing too much on Resident Evil and Monster Hunter? Which of the three franchises listed above would you want to see become a core IP the most? Let us know down below.

Tekken Director Katsuhiro Harada is leaving Bandai Namco at the end of the year

9 décembre 2025 à 16:00

For 30 years now, Katsuhiro Harada has helped shape Bandai Namco’s iconic Tekken franchise into what it is today. Known for his personality and dedication to fans, Harada has easily become the face of the Tekken franchise. After 3 decades working on the series however, Harada has officially announced that he is leaving Bandai Namco and Tekken.

Making the surprise announcement on Twitter, Katsuhiro Harada revealed that he will soon be departing from Bandai Namco, writing:

“I'd like to share that I'll be leaving Bandai Namco at the end of 2025. With the TEKKEN series reaching its 30th anniversary—an important milestone for a project I've devoted much of my life to—I felt this was the most fitting moment to bring one chapter to a close.”

Tekken Bandai

The full post is rather lengthy and goes into greater depth regarding this decision, including having “experienced the loss of several close friends in my personal life, and in my professional life I witnessed the retirement or passing of many senior colleagues whom I deeply respect.”

Harada has not yet shared his plans for the future, stating that he will “share more about my next steps at a later date.”

The official Tekken page also shared the news, releasing a message thanking Harada for his decades of work while assuring fans that “we are fully committed to future development and content plans for Tekken 8”. The full statement can be found HERE.

Microsoft originally rejected bringing Flight Simulator 2024 to PlayStation 5

9 décembre 2025 à 15:00

Among the many different Xbox console exclusives which have found their way onto Sony’s PlayStation platform, Microsoft Flight Simulator is perhaps the most ironic owing to its namesake. That said, following its announcement back in September, MSFS 2024 has now officially landed on the PS5. Interestingly, according to the game’s director Microsoft initially rejected the proposal – until Sony got involved.

In an interview conducted by the publication XDA-Developers, Asobo Studio head Jorg Neumann revealed that he was the one to first suggest the idea of bringing Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 to PS5, claiming:

“It was my idea, actually…so I proposed, probably two and a half years ago, to go to PlayStation. It was probably a little bit before its time because I was told no.”

In an interesting twist of fate, Neumann revealed that “somebody from Sony who grew up with flight simulation thought it would be a great addition to the Sony portfolio. They reached out proactively to our President, who then came back to me and said, ‘Hey, remember when we talked about the PlayStation thing a year ago? Sony is also interested.’”

Microsoft PlayStation

Beyond this, Neumann spoke on the promised PSVR2 support which is slated for some time next year, claiming that “It was there from the beginning. Sony was super clear: they have a very dedicated VR audience that is excited about new VR games, and they were very clear that we would have a lot of support from that audience.”

Given the fact that Sony themselves have seemingly shied away from PSVR2 since its launch, it is somewhat encouraging to see that the console maker is still trying to push the technology in some ways.

The full interview, including discussions on PS5 Pro support, the increased use of controllers and more can be found HERE.

Suda51 confirms that Romeo is a Dead Man “contains no AI-generated stuff whatsoever”

9 décembre 2025 à 14:00

The use of generative AI in video game development has quickly unravelled, with some companies proudly defending the practice, others trying to hide their adoption, and a 3rd group who have rallied against its use in video game development. One dev squarely in the latter category is Suda51, who has confirmed that the upcoming Romeo is a Dead Man “contains no AI-generated stuff whatsoever.”

Romeo is a Dead Man is the latest game from Suda51 and Grasshopper Manufacture of No More Heroes fame.

Set to release on the 11th of February 2026, the wacky and unique action title is officially coming to PlayStation 5 and Steam – with an Xbox release said to be “coming soon”.

Those on Nintendo’s side of the pond may also get the opportunity to play Romeo is a Dead Man eventually, with Suda51 taking to Twitter to say: “We're looking into what we can do to make a Switch 2 version happen.”

In an interesting addition to the statement, the game creator took time to make note that “this game contains no AI-generated stuff whatsoever, so please rest easy on that front and go ahead and wishlist it!”

As mentioned, the use of AI in video game development has seen a sharp increase, with all sorts from AI art, to AI voices and more seeping into many different aspects of new releases.

As such, it is encouraging to see not only that some devs are shying away from the technology, but actively voicing their opinions on the matter.

Before Warner Bros. Netflix was reportedly interested in buying EA

9 décembre 2025 à 13:00

Late last week it was officially announced that Netflix had entered into a deal with Warner Bros. Discovery to purchase their Streaming and Studios Group for a massive $82 Billion. It seems WB’s gaming division was a big aspect of what drew them to the company, as Netflix was reportedly previously interested in acquiring EA.

In a report by Bloomberg (paywalled), prior to their proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. “Netflix executives previously debated whether the streamer should place bids for EA, Fox, and Disney,” though they ultimately “couldn't agree on a deal and feared that its interest in those companies would hurt its standing with investors.”

While the notion of Netflix purchasing any of those companies comes with major implications, the purchase of EA in particular would have been the most curious.

Netflix Warner

For many years now Netflix has been trying to squeeze its way into the video games space. Starting with mobile ports of popular console games, the media giant has also taken a couple different stabs at more high-budget game development – none of which have come to fruition.

As such, purchasing WB makes a surprising amount of sense as not only will they gain access to WB’s endless list of film and TV IPs, but also their underappreciated gaming division. What this means for the future of WB Games, we will have to wait and see.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake WON’T be at The Game Awards claims Ubisoft

8 décembre 2025 à 16:00

Over the past couple weeks, we’ve heard an increasing amount of talk surrounding Ubisoft’s long-awaited Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, with insiders claiming that the title is set to arrive as early as next month. While many believed that the remake would be officially shown off at the upcoming Game Awards, Ubisoft has now set expectations straight.

As talk surrounding the potential re-reveal of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake at the upcoming Game Awards has been increasing, the official PoP Twitter account responded to one fan page which suggested as much, writing:

“Sorry to disappoint, but can confirm Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time won’t be at TGA this year.”

Prince of Persia Game Awards

Though a detail based on omission rather than confirmation, it is interesting to note that the account did not refute the rumoured release date of the 16th of January.

That said, assuming the remake is planned for mid-January, Ubisoft won’t have much time to begin showing off and marketing the title, especially if it indeed won’t be at The Game Awards.

Perhaps we will get a dedicated showcase sometime in the early days of the new year? We will have to wait and see.

KitGuru says: Do you believe in the leaked release date? What are your expectations for the remake? Let us know down below.

PlayStation 5 ‘wins’ Black Friday, selling more than Xbox and Nintendo combined

8 décembre 2025 à 15:00

Black Friday has now come and gone, with various hardware and software manufacturers offering deep discounts on their games, accessories, consoles and more. Despite the Nintendo Switch 2 being the new hotness, it was Sony’s PlayStation 5 which seems to have ‘won’ Black Friday – taking home half of all console sales for the period.

According to industry analyst Mat Piscatella of Circana, the PlayStation 5 accounted for 47% of all console hardware sales during Black Friday in the US, with the Switch 2 landing in second (24% of sales) and the relatively unknown Kinect-styled ‘NEX Playground’ taking the 3rd spot from Xbox with 14% of sales.

Black Friday PlayStation

In the UK, PlayStation performed even better, with Christopher Dring of TheGameBusiness confirming that PS5 took home 62% of all console sales during Black Friday. As expected, the Switch 2 ended up in second place with 23% of sales, and Xbox bringing up the rear with 10%.

Sony had been pretty aggressive this Black Friday, with the relatively-more-affordable PS5 console seeing rather steep discounts during the promotional period. This strategy seems to have worked wonders for the console maker, with PS5 continuing its lead.

It will be interesting to see how sales for both PS5 and Switch 2 evolve over the next year as Nintendo’s console starts to mature.

KitGuru says: What did you pick up this Black Friday? Are you surprised by PlayStation’s dominance? Did you expect the Switch 2 to take the top spot? Let us know down below.

Elden Ring Nightreign: The Forsaken Hollows DLC has already sold 2 million copies

8 décembre 2025 à 14:00

After the overwhelming success that was Elden Ring, FromSoftware surprised many with the announcement and release of Nightreign – a co-op roguelite spin-off. Since its launch back in May, the title has received a solid amount of free post-launch support and even a paid expansion; the latter of which has already sold over 2 million copies since its arrival a couple days ago.

Making the announcement via Twitter, FromSoftware confirmed that “The cumulative worldwide shipment volume of ‘ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN The Forsaken Hollows’ has exceeded 2 million units. To all the users who are playing this game, thank you very much. We hope you enjoy the new battles undertaken by the Nightfarers. We look forward to your continued support.”

Elden Ring Million

For context, The Forsaken Hollows released just a couple days ago on the 4th of December, and so to have sold 2 million copies already is a major achievement. That said, reception towards the DLC is less-than-perfect, with Steam reviews currently sitting at a Mixed rating owing to the game’s new ‘Shifting Earth’ map being less-than-intuitive to navigate.

Still, 2 million copies sold for what is a DLC for a spin-off is highly impressive and seems to suggest that FromSoftware has ensured their financial success regardless of the direction they choose to go in.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Nightreign’s new DLC? Is it worth the relatively cheap asking price? As an experiment, has Nightreign succeeded or failed in your eyes? Let us know down below.
