Julia Wandelt faces deportation to home country of Poland having already served six-month sentence

A Polish woman who claimed to be Madeleine McCann is facing deportation after being found guilty of harassing the missing girl’s family.

Julia Wandelt, 24, from Lubin, south-west Poland, waged an extensive campaign, including making calls, leaving messages and turning up at the home of the family of Madeleine, who disappeared in the Portuguese holiday resort of Praia da Luz in 2007, Leicester crown court heard.

Samantha Browne says ban will help stop young people thinking violent practice is normal or safe

An anti-trafficking campaigner has welcomed the ban on pornography featuring strangulation, known as “choking”, saying it will help stop young people thinking it is a normal and safe practice.

Samantha Browne, who suffered exploitation as a teenager in the adult industry, said the ban would help prevent children mimicking violent sex they have seen onscreen, and she hoped it would open the door to ending other forms of abusive pornography.

Pornography depicting strangulation to become criminal offence in the UK

Legal requirement to be placed on tech platforms to prevent users from seeing such ‘choking’ material

Porn featuring strangulation or suffocation – often referred to as “choking” – is due to be criminalised, with a legal requirement placed on tech platforms to prevent UK users from seeing such material.

Possessing or publishing porn featuring choking will become a criminal offence under amendments to the Crime and Policing bill tabled in parliament on Monday.
