Ukraine’s president says ‘necessary investigative actions ongoing’ after killing of former parliamentary speaker Andriy Parubiy

A suspect has been arrested over the murder of the former Ukrainian parliamentary speaker Andriy Parubiy, Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said.

“The suspect has given an initial testimony,” Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s president, said on the Telegram messaging app. “Urgent investigative actions are currently under way to establish all the circumstances of this murder.”

Inter were handed a shock 2-1 loss at home to Udinese in Serie A despite taking the lead through Denzel Dumfries as the visitors responded with two goals before the break on Sunday.

Cristian Chivu’s side won their opening game 5-0 at home to Torino but looked well off that form despite opening the scoring in the 17th minute when Dumfries tapped in from a Marcus Thuram pass in the box.

Jonas Vingegaard powers to Vuelta stage nine win with Valdezcaray climb

The twice Tour de France champion Jonas Vingegaard won stage nine of the Vuelta a España with a solo attack on the climactic climb to Valdezcaray on Sunday, shaving nearly two minutes off the gap to the overall leader Torstein Træen, who is ahead by 37 seconds.

Visma-Lease a Bike’s Vingegaard dominated the 13.2km category one climb at the end of the 195.5km ride from Alfaro to the Valdezcaray ski resort and although Tom Pidcock and João Almeida tried to chase, they finished 24sec off the pace.

Viviani’s Lotto teammates tried to lead him out in the last 1,000m of the 163km flat ride from Monzón to Zaragoza, but Alpecin-Deceuninck’s Philipsen, who had also won the first stage, pushed in the final moments to steal the victory.

Paralegal dismissed by US attorney general for ‘inappropriate conduct’ towards troops deployed on the streets of Washington

The US attorney general, Pam Bondi, has fired a justice department official for making a vulgar gesture to members of the national guard deployed in Washington DC on her way to work.

The employee, Elizabeth Baxter, was a paralegal at the department’s environmental defense section, according to a memo to her published by the New York Post, which first reported Friday’s dismissal.

Iliad: CA +3,8% au S1, performance "très solide" dans ses géographies

(Reuters) -Iliad a fait état jeudi d'un chiffre d'affaires en hausse de 3,8% sur un an au premier semestre, à 5,08 milliards d'euros, le groupe français de télécommunications citant une performance économique "très solide" dans ses trois géographies. L'EBITDAaL du groupe fondé par Xavier Niel grimpe de 10,1% sur la période, à 2,05 milliards d'euros, avec une marge d'EBITDAal en progression à 40,2%. "Cette dynamique nous permet de continuer à investir massivement dans les piliers de la souveraineté numérique européenne avec nos initiatives dans le Cloud, les infrastructures dédiées à l’IA et la connectivité de demain", a déclaré le directeur général, Thomas Reynaud, dans un communiqué.
