Time is running out for Richarlison. Injuries to Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani gave the Brazilian a consistent run in Thomas Frank’s starting XI but, with just one goal since the first league game of the season, he has not taken his opportunities. Now, with Kolo Muani fit, the former Everton striker has had to make do with a place on the bench and failed to impress against FC Copenhagen in midweek, missing a penalty that another striker, Dane Scarlett, won. United States men’s national team coach Mauricio Pochettino has admitted he misses the Premier League and would like to return there in the future.

“The Premier League is the best league in the world,” he told the BBC in an interview published on Thursday. “Of course I am missing it. I am so happy in America but also thinking one day to come back to the Premier League. It’s the most competitive league.”

Rory McIlroy says the PGA of America chief executive, Derek Sprague, apologized personally for the abuse directed at the world No 2 and his wife during Europe’s Ryder Cup triumph at Bethpage Black, and that the gesture helped to close the book on what had been a bruising week.

“I got a lovely email from Derek Sprague apologizing,” McIlroy told BBC Sport ahead of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. “Erica worked with Derek at the PGA of America back in the day, so we know Derek and his wife pretty well. He couldn’t have been more gracious or apologetic and he wrote us a lovely letter, which we really appreciated.”

The Football Association has charged Crystal Palace with misconduct after their fans held up a graphic banner about the Nottingham Forest owner, Evangelos Marinakis, during the 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park between the teams in August.

Former NFL quarterback Tom Brady said Tuesday that his dog, Junie, is a clone of his family’s late pet Lua, created by Colossal Biosciences, a Dallas-based biotechnology company that Brady has invested in.

The Birmingham City co-owner revealed the news in a statement released through Colossal, which also announced its acquisition of another cloning company, Viagen Pets and Equine. The two firms plan to combine their technologies to expand cloning services for pet owners and conservation projects.

The Indianapolis Colts have acquired two-time All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner from the New York Jets in a stunning trade ahead of Tuesday’s NFL deadline, according to multiple reports.

In exchange, the Colts will send two first-round picks to New York, marking one of the most significant deals of the season. Gardner, the No 4 overall pick in the 2022 draft, has quickly established himself as one of the league’s premier defenders, earning All-Pro honors in each of his first two years.

A mural of Trent Alexander-Arnold has been vandalised before his return to Anfield with Real Madrid. The former Liverpool full-back is expected to feature in the Real squad for Tuesday’s Champions League game less than six months after leaving his boyhood club for Spain.

Alexander-Arnold’s decision to depart at the end of his contract was met with anger by a section of the Liverpool fanbase, who booed the right-back. The large mural near Anfield was unveiled in 2019 following Liverpool’s Champions League victory and was vandalised after the news Alexander-Arnold would leave, with the word “rat” daubed on it.

Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has accepted he shares some of the blame for a serious injury to the team’s quarterback, Jayden Daniels.

Daniel Jarvis, a serial prankster, allegedly escaped the attention of security before kick-off in the second Test against England, slipping undetected on to the pitch to link arms with Kangaroos star Cameron Munster as Advance Australia Fair played.
