The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 is living up to its flagship status, showcasing impressive performance gains in leaked Geekbench benchmarks. However, based on these benchmarks, we aren't getting a performance jump as massive as we've seen when going from the RTX 3090 to the RTX 4090.

While many eagerly await the official release and reviews of the RTX 5090, early performance figures have surfaced, offering a glimpse of its raw power. A Geekbench user has reportedly put the RTX 5090 through its paces in both OpenCL and Vulkan tests, and the results are impressive.

The benchmarks shared by Benchleaks (1, 2), conducted on a system with an Intel Core i9-12900K CPU, an Asus ROG Strix Z690-A motherboard, and DDR4-3600 memory, show the RTX 5090 comfortably outperforming both the RTX 4090 and the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX. In the Vulkan test, the RTX 5090's best score was 359,742 points, representing a performance uplift of 37% over the RTX 4090. The OpenCL test showed a smaller but still significant improvement, showing up to 15% gains.

While these Geekbench results are promising, it's important to remember that they are synthetic benchmarks and might not perfectly reflect real-world gaming performance. We eagerly await further benchmarks, including gaming tests and 3DMark scores, to better understand the RTX 5090's capabilities. The RTX 5090 is expected to launch alongside the RTX 5080 on January 30th.
