Graham Hansen’s late winner downs Finland and puts Norway into last eight

Norway became the first team to reach the knockout stages of Women’s Euro 2025 after grinding out a 2-1 victory over a courageous Finland. Caroline Graham Hansen’s late winner in Sion broke Helmarit hearts after Oona Sevenius had cancelled out Eva Nyström’s unfortunate early own goal. Switzerland’s 2-0 win over Iceland in the late game sealed their passage into the quarter-finals.

It was Norway’s experience that eventually told when their decorated vice-captain struck in the 84th minute against the run of play.

England fall to France and Wales make proud but painful debut – Women’s Football Weekly

Angeldahl deflates Denmark and gets Sweden off to winning start at Euro 2025

Sweden opened their Euro 2025 campaign with a diligent win over Denmark in Geneva. Filippa Angeldahl scored the only goal in the game to give Peter Gerhardsson’s side an early advantage in Group C.

It took one moment of carefully crafted play from two of Sweden’s seasoned stars to finally unlock the hard-working Denmark defence. Angeldahl had looked the most likely to find the breakthrough as she grew in influence. Her well-timed one-two with Kosovare Asllani and the finish that followed was an example of how creative this Sweden team can be when they put their minds to it.

Arianna Caruso’s stunner earns Italy opening Euro 2025 win against Belgium

Italy kicked off their Euro 2025 challenge with a controlled victory in their Group B opener in Sion. Arianna Caruso’s spectacular first-half goal proved the difference in a close encounter against a well-organised Belgium.

With the game evenly matched, it was one that required just a moment of quality. Caruso is Italy’s puppet-master, pulling the strings with ease from the heart of the midfield. Her goal was an example of what Italy can do when they are at their best.

From Russo to Katoto: six contenders to be top scorer at Euro 2025

We pick half a dozen contenders to lead the scoring charts in Switzerland, from the WSL Golden Boot winner to France’s formidable finisher

Russo is coming into this tournament in the form of her career. Her 12 goals in the Women’s Super League played an integral role in the Gunners’ second-place finish and earned her a share of the Golden Boot, alongside Manchester City’s Khadija Shaw. She was also Arsenal’s top scorer in their run to securing the Champions League. Her productivity in front of goal has been the biggest improvement to her game.
