1440p Gamer UK Deal: Forget RTX 5080, Get This RTX 4070 Super And Thank Me Later

2 février 2025 à 14:04

When the 5080 launched, I thought, "Buying an RTX 5080 for 1440p gaming is like buying a Ferrari to do the school run." Sure, it's fast and powerful, but you're spending way more than necessary for performance you'll never fully use. The RTX 5080 is a 4K powerhouse, but that power is going to be wasted unless you're rocking a 240Hz 4K monitor.

Forget RTX 5080, Get A RTX 4070 Super UK Deal And Thank Me Later

I decided to buy an RTX 4070 Super (The MSI model below specifically), which is amazing for 1440p gaming in my gaming rig. It delivers buttery smooth performance at nearly half the price, efficiently handling 1440p at over 150 FPS in modern games. You save a fortune, and guess what? You won't notice the difference in real-world gameplay either.

RTX 4070 Super vs RTX 5080 – Specs Breakdown

GPURTX 4070 SuperRTX 5080
CUDA Cores7,16810,752
VRAM12GB GDDR6X16GB GDDR7
Memory Bus192-bit256-bit
Boost Clock2.48 GHz2.7 GHz
TDP220W360W
MSRP£599£1,099+

Yes, RTX 5080 is the better card on paper, but here's the catch — 1440p doesn't need that much raw power. The 4070 Super is more efficient, cheaper, and still crushes high-FPS gaming at 1440p. That 150+ FPS doesn't account for DLSS 3.0 either, which means even more frames when activated.

RTX 4070 Super Benchmarks – 1440p Powerhouse

Unigine Heaven 4.0180.64,551399.1
FurMark GL17610,587N/A
Unigine Valley198.58305327.4

Let's talk real-world numbers. The RTX 4070 Super dominates 1440p, comfortably pushing past 150 FPS in demanding games. This is insanely good performance, and the RTX 4070 Super does it while sipping power, meaning lower temps, less noise, and lower electricity bills.

These results have been achieved by overclocking the MSI RTX 4070 Super OC 12GB model using MSI afterburner. GPU runs at 2760MHz and Memory at 10501 MHz with a temperature limit of 84°C. Don't you need that many frames? You can undervolt this graphics card and get nearly the same results. Suppose you're not sure about using MSI Afterburner. In that case, there's an option for Nvidia software to assess your gaming PC and automatically overclock RTX 4070 for you. These benchmarks were done alongside a well-balanced gaming setup featuring a 13th Gen Intel Core i5-13400F processor, a 10-core, 16-thread CPU that delivers solid gaming performance without breaking the bank. Paired with 64GB of Corsair Vengeance DDR4 RAM.

Why RTX 4070 Super Makes More Sense for 1440p

RTX 4070 Super perfectly matches 1440p 144Hz gaming, delivering high FPS without unnecessary overkill. It also costs nearly half the price of the RTX 5080 while offering almost identical real-world performance at 1440p. It runs cooler, quieter, and more efficiently thanks to its lower power draw, which means better thermals, less noise, and a longer lifespan. Plus, you're still getting next-gen AI features like DLSS 3, Frame Generation, and AI-powered upscaling, so your games look smooth and sharp without needing to brute-force raw performance.

UK Deals: Just Buy A Pre-Built RTX 5080 Gaming PC Instead

1 février 2025 à 12:59

Trying to buy an RTX 5080 on its own right now is a nightmare. Stock disappears in seconds, scalpers drive up prices, and even if you grab one, you still need to build the rest of the system. This means shelling out for a powerful CPU, motherboard, PSU, RAM, and cooling. Instead of playing the waiting game, prebuilt RTX 5080 gaming PCs are a better deal. You get a fully optimized system with high-end components, warranty protection, and zero compatibility headaches.

Vibox SG-VIII-233 Gaming PC

Vibox SG-VIII-233 delivers solid 4K gaming at a competitive price. It pairs the RTX 5080 with Intel’s i9-12900KF, a powerful last-gen processor that still holds up well for gaming.

With 32GB of DDR4 RAM and a 2TB SSD, this PC is future-proofed for next-gen gaming, though DDR4 is slightly slower than DDR5. It’s a great option for gamers who want RTX 5080 power without stretching to a £3,000+ system.

🔹 Customizable? Limited, but comes with solid specs out of the box

ADMI Gaming PC

ADMI RTX 5080 Gaming PC is a powerful yet slightly more affordable alternative. It packs an AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, 32GB DDR5 RAM, and a 1TB SSD, making it perfect for 1440p and 4K gaming.

While it lacks the ultra-premium cooling of more expensive builds, its well-ventilated case and 850W Gold PSU ensure reliable performance for years to come. If you’re looking for RTX 5080 power without splashing out on unnecessary extras, this build is a great balance of performance and value.

🔹 Best For: High-end gaming, esports, VR
🔹 Customizable? Yes, storage and RAM upgrades available

Maingear MG-1

Fancy an RTX 5080 gaming PC at the lowest possible price? the MG-1 Custom is the best option. It features a Ryzen 5 9600X, 16GB DDR5 RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD. While 16GB of RAM is a bit low for modern games, this PC is a great starting point that can be upgraded over time.

With a solid GPU, fast SSD, and efficient PSU, it’s a great entry-level RTX 5080 gaming PC that won’t break the bank. You’ll probably want to upgrade to 32GB RAM in the future, but as a foundation, this system is a fantastic value pick. I've been using an MG-1 with a RTX 4060 for over a year now, and it's a fantastic choice for those looking to upgrade over time or want the peace of mind of excellent customer service and warranty options.

🔹 Best For: Entry-level RTX 5080 gaming, budget-conscious buyers
🔹 Customizable? Yes, but will need a RAM upgrade for heavy gaming

Maingear Force MK II

If you're after power, style and amazing customer service, Maingear FORCE Mk. II is a great pick. This sleek, RGB-heavy build includes a Ryzen 5 9600X, 32GB DDR5 RAM, and a 1TB NVMe SSD, all housed in a stunning tempered glass case.

While it’s not quite as powerful as the high-end builds, it’s a great mid-range choice, offering plenty of performance for high-refresh 1440p gaming while still being capable at 4K.

🔹 Best For: Gamers who want a stylish, customizable PC
🔹 Customizable? Yes, supports upgrades to cooling and storage
