Everyone's Playing Shooters Right Now, New Data Shows — While Pokémon Legends: Z-A 'Underperformed' Compared to Arceus

21 novembre 2025 à 13:16

Everyone's playing shooters these days, at least according to some new data from Newzoo shared with IGN.

Newzoo, whose revenue estimates cover digital full-game purchases, including but not limited to DLC, subscriptions, and microtransactions, has revealed the top 20 PC and console games for the month of October, both by revenue and MAUs (monthly active users), combined across the U.S., UK, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain. And boy, there are a lot of shooters on that list! Battlefield 6, in its debut month, is at the top of the revenue charts and the third in monthly active users. While Battlefield's dominance has been well documented already, it's nonetheless an impressive feat given that Battlefield was only out for one week in October.

It is worth noting that while the suite of Call of Duty games were 9th on the revenue chart, they came in at the second spot for MAUs, ahead of Battlefield. Again, though, Battlefield only had a week compared to Call of Duty's full month, so the real test will be looking at November's data when Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will face off against Battlefield. MAUs are a bit of a better comparison metric for Call of Duty, given its precense on Xbox Game Pass.

Breakout extraction shooter Arc Raiders debuted at No. 7 for revenue and No. 18 in MAUs, similarly hampered somewhat by the fact that it was only out for two days in the reporting period of October, so we should see a clearer picture of its success in November as well.

These new games are joined by a lot of the usual suspects: Counter-Strike 2 at No. 8 in revenue and No. 9 in MAUs, Fortnite at No. 3 in revenue and No. 1 in MAUs, and just on the MAU chart: GTA 5 at No. 7, Helldivers 2 at No. 16, Borderlands 4 at No. 17, Apex Legends at No. 19, and Overwatch at No. 20. Those are just shooters; Roblox, Minecraft, Valorant, League of Legends, and annual sports titles remain strong. It's as challenging as ever for new games to crack the dominance of the handful of live service giants that consume so much of audience time, attention, and money.

There was a bit of a face-off this month in monster RPGs, with Pokémon Legends: Z-A coming in at No. 5 in revenue and No. 15 in MAUs, and Digimon Story Time Stranger at No. 13 in revenue. It was never in doubt that Pokémon would win that battle, but Newzoo noted that Z-A "underperformed compared to Legends: Arceus," which may suggest some hesitance around its move to a real-time, action-based combat system, or perhaps caution after the state of Scarlet and Violet's launch. It's worth noting that Pokémon Legends: Z-A launched as a cross-gen title, both on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

Nintendo's official sales figures show Pokémon Legends: Z-A sold almost 6 million copies in its opening week. Pokémon Legends: Z-A, which debuted on October 16, sold 5.8 million units worldwide, with around half of those bought for Switch 2. This means the first Pokémon game to feature real-time Pokémon battles is the fifth best-selling game of the franchise in terms of first week sales. By comparison, that's more than Pokémon X/Y and Let's Go Pikachu / Eevee managed in their first weeks, but not as much as Pokémon Scarlet / Violet, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, and Pokémon Sword / Shield managed.

IGN's Pokémon Legends: Z-A review returned an 8/10. We said: "Pokémon Legends: Z-A finally feels like Game Freak hitting its stride in Pokémon’s 3D era, with a fun setting to explore, a well-written story, and a total battle system overhaul that works surprisingly well."

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery Director Rian Johnson 'Frustrated' at Limited Theatrical Release, Suggests Fans Call Up Their Local Theater Manager to Ask if It’s Coming

21 novembre 2025 à 12:54

Rian Johnson has expressed frustration at the limited theatrical release of his new Benoit Blanc Netflix film, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.

Streamer Netflix will release Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery in theaters on November 26, in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, before releasing it on Netflix itself on December 12.

But it will only release in “select” theaters, as opposed to nationwide — something that has clearly left the Star Wars: The Last Jedi writer and director unimpressed.

Taking to social media, Johnson replied to one fan who expressed concern after failing to find a local screening. “I’m as frustrated as you that it’s not everywhere, but new theaters will be added so keep checking,” Johnson tweeted. “And also if you’re inclined it wouldn’t hurt to contact the manager of your local theater and (politely!) ask them if it’s coming.”

In another social media post, Johnson shared the official website of Wake Up Dead Man as “the best way to find if there’s a theater near you playing” the film, before adding: “For those asking, sadly AMC would not play the movie, it’s going to be Landmark, Alamo, and other chains. And it can absolutely stay in theaters after the 12/12 Netflix drop if there’s demand — it’s up to the theaters to decide.”

It’s rare for Netflix to release its movies in theaters. Guillermo del Toro’s latest, Frankenstein, had a short theatrical run nationwide in October ahead of its November 7 premiere on the streaming platform, and global phenomenon KPop Demon Hunters hit theaters after its explosive launch on Netflix. Even the final episode of Stranger Things Season 5 will drop in theaters simultaneously with its Netflix premiere.

But Netflix has indicated it won't change its long-standing view on theaters versus streaming. “There’s no change in the strategy," CEO Ted Sarandos explained of the company’s policy on theatrical distribution during a recent earnings conference. "Our strategy is to give our members exclusive first-run movies on Netflix.” In fact, Sarandos went on to assert that KPop Demon Hunters only became a sensation “because it was released on Netflix first.”

IGN’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery review returned a 7/10. We said: “Wake Up Dead Man is a solid third entry for Benoit Blanc, finally delivering the classic-style mystery the series has sorely needed.”

Nintendo Pulling Bikini Chef Kawasaki Fan Designs From Kirby Air Riders, Players Say

21 novembre 2025 à 12:37

Nintendo is rushing to remove user-made designs shared within Kirby Air Riders that feature fan-favorite character Chef Kawasaki dressed in a micro bikini.

Kirby Air Riders allows players to create and customize their own in-game rides using basic shapes and stickers, something that has quickly led to all manner of user creativity — and several designs that feature the beloved chef in beach attire.

Chef Kawasaki has been a fan-favorite among the Kirby community for years, and there's a running joke that, underneath his apron, Chef Kawasaki is otherwise naked. Alternatively, fans have suggested, the character could just about be hiding a micro bikini underneath the straps of his cooking attire — something now depicted in mounds of fanart that we will not embed on this website.

Is Nintendo a fan of all this? Seemingly not. As if to make its position clear, Nintendo has now removed several Chef Kawasaki micro bikini designs from Kirby Air Riders, as they began topping the game's list of most popular fan-made rides.

Automaton reports that two widely-downloaded Chef Kawasaki micro bikini riders have already been made unavailable by Nintendo, while a third — with a slightly larger bikini and succubus wings — rises in popularity and looks set to test Nintendo's limits for what it will allow.

This isn't the first time that Nintendo has acted to shut down the spread of Chef Kawasaki bikini artwork. In 2022, it swiftly stopped the proliferation of a fanmade card game, Chef Kawasaki’s Microbikini Karuta, which featured numerous fan-drawn images of an eyebrow-raising nature. (The game's creators had also begun selling the game for profit — another big Nintendo no-no.)

The latest game from Super Smash Bros. series boss Masahiro Sakurai, Kirby Air Riders launched this week exclusively for Switch 2. A spin-off of the Kirby series where players race around circuit-based tracks on glider-like machines, it is a long-awaited sequel to 2003's Kirby Air Ride on GameCube.

"Kirby Air Riders' unconventional controls can get in its own way sometimes, but they don't stop it from being a fun, frantic action racing game with an almost unreal amount of stuff to do," IGN wrote in our Kirby Air Riders review, awarding the game 8/10.

'That's What They Have Stuntmen For!' — 56-Year-Old Brendan Fraser Shakes Off Age Concerns Ahead of The Mummy 4

21 novembre 2025 à 12:07

Brendan Fraser doesn’t sound too bothered about the prospect of reprising his role as Rick O'Connell for The Mummy 4 nearly 20 years later, and has said stunt men will help him out.

The 56-year-old Oscar-winning actor last played Rick O'Connell in 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, when he was 40. But he’s set to return to the franchise alongside co-star Rachel Weisz for a new The Mummy film in the coming years.

Speaking to Happy Sad Confused host Josh Horowitz during a live interview filmed at 92nd Street Y, Fraser joked that stunt men are right there to make everything on-screen look amazing.

“Absolutely. That’s what they have stunt men for,” Fraser replied when asked if his age was a consideration when it came to real stunts in The Mummy 4. “One of my favorite things to say is, ‘Dude, you’re gonna be awesome in this shot!'”

If the 61-year-old Keanu Reeves can play John Wick in yet another sequel, and 83-year-old Harrison Ford can play Red Hulk in the MCU, Fraser can surely give The Mummy a run for his money, right?

While The Mummy 4 isn’t officially, officially confirmed, based on reports in the trades and comments from Fraser himself, this one feels nailed on. Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett — the filmmaking duo billed as Radio Silence — are said to be directing the long-awaited sequel. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Weisz will also return as Evelyn Carnahan. Apparently The Mummy 4 will be a sequel to the trilogy, but will disregard the events of the third movie, which Weisz did not star in.

Radio Silence’s breakout film was 2019’s Ready or Not. They then rebooted the Scream franchise with 2022’s Scream and 2023’s Scream 6, and also directed the vampire flick Abigail.

Speaking to Associated Press this week, Fraser was asked if he had considered The Mummy movies in his past before the fourth film was announced.

“The one I wanted to make was never made,” he replied. “The third one was a model of… how can I say this to the AP reporter? NBC had the rights to broadcast the Olympics that year. So they put two together and we went to China. Working in Shanghai, an incredible experience. I’m proud of the third one because I think it’s a good standalone movie. We picked up and did what we do with a different crew on deck and gave it our best shot. But the one I wanted to make is forthcoming. And I’ve been waiting 20 years for this call. Sometimes it was loud, sometimes it was a faint telegraph. Now? It’s time to give the fans what they want.”

Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Remake Release Date Reportedly Leaked

21 novembre 2025 à 11:48

Ubisoft's highly-anticipated Assassin's Creed: Black Flag remake will launch in just a few months' time, a fresh report has claimed.

This morning, Ubisoft revealed its latest financial results and laid out a slate of upcoming games set to arrive before the end of its current financial year, on March 31, 2026.

One title due for launch remained "unannounced" in Ubisoft's official presentation, but a new Insider Gaming report has now stated that this not-so-mysterious project is the new version of Black Flag, which is scheduled to arrive during the week of March 23, 2026.

Despite years of internal leaks, fan speculation and even hints from the game's lead actor, Ubisoft is still to officially confirm its Black Flag remake exists. But players have been tracking its progress for a while now, and think they have a pretty good idea of how it will play.

Alongside visual and gameplay upgrades to bring the game closer to Assassin's Creed Shadows' level of fidelity and more RPG-like focus, a recent report detailed plans for the game to feature all-new content and missions for its pirate hero Edward Kenway. At the same time, however, Black Flag's modern day gameplay sections have apparently been excised — something that many fans aren't happy about.

It's believed that work on this new Black Flag remake has been spearheaded by Ubisoft Singapore, which previously launched the long-delayed Skull and Bones — a game that began life as an offshoot of Black Flag's maritime gameplay.

Ubisoft is going all-in on Assassin's Creed, its biggest franchise, with this year's Assassin's Creed Shadows followed by a recent Saudi Arabia-funded free update to 2023's Assassin's Creed Mirage. Alongside its Black Flag remake, next year is expected to bring a second major Shadows expansion. Beyond that, Ubisoft has already announced that a multiplayer Assassin's Creed game and its next big blockbuster, the witchcraft-themed Assassin's Creed Hexe, are also in the works.

This morning, Ubisoft said its latest positive financial results had been driven in part by a "strong performance" for its Assassin's Creed franchise. But while the company noted that Mirage had now passed 10 million sales, there was no new figure provided for how well this year's Shadows has sold.

'I Felt Like OK, the Writing's on the Wall for Sure' — Leslye Headland Has Accepted Disney's Decision to Cancel Star Wars Show the Acolyte After Season 1, Even if She's Still Sad About It

21 novembre 2025 à 10:48

The Acolyte creator Leslye Headland has reflected on the cancelation of the Disney+ series after just one season, pointing to the significant impact Star Wars content creators had on the discussion around the show.

Star Wars owner Disney canceled The Acolyte after Season 1, leaving a number of plot threads, chief among them the dramatic first appearance of Darth Plagueis in live-action form, dangling, perhaps never to be resolved.

Since the cancelation, a number of actors who appeared in The Acolyte have said they still hope for a Season 2. In December last year, Manny Jacinto, who played Qimir, said Darth Plagueis would have had a bigger role in further seasons of The Acolyte, but didn't reveal too much because "we could come back."

Meanwhile, Sol actor Lee Jung-Jae has said he was "quite surprised" to hear The Acolyte wouldn't get a second season, which Headland was thinking about even before Season 1 premiered. Others, including Black female lead Amandla Stenberg, have said they weren't shocked by the cancellation. "I'm going to be transparent and say that it's not a huge shock for me," she said. "I was in the bubble of my own reality, but for those who aren't aware there's been a rampage of vitriol that we've faced since the show was even announced. When it was still just a concept and no one had even seen it."

Mother Aniseya actress Jodie Turner-Smith raised this issue too, calling out Disney for not doing enough for the cast who faced waves of racist abuse online. "They’ve got to stop doing this thing where they don’t say anything when people are getting f**king dog-piled on the internet with racism and bulls**t," she said.

Now, in a new interview with TheWrap, Leslye Headland offered a reaction of her own, admitting she feared The Acolyte was set for the chopping block as online reaction from Star Wars content creators took a turn for the worse.

“I was not surprised by [the cancellation],” Headland said. “I think I was surprised at the swiftness of it and the publicness of it. I was surprised by how it was handled. But once I was getting particular phone calls about the reaction and the criticism and the viewership, I felt like, ‘OK, the writing’s on the wall for sure.’”

Headland went on to discuss the impact of Star Wars content creators on The Acolyte’s performance, and said Hollywood uses them almost like focus groups.

“The content that is being put out by the streamers or the studios is being snatched up by these other creators, and so commentaries, synopses, live videos, all of the ways that these creators make money — through viewer-based ad revenues and their Patreons — there’s a lot of money to be made,” she said.

“And by the way, have at it. Get your coin 100%. But it revealed to me that there is a misunderstanding between the studios and that engagement. They think of it as fandom, and in ways it is, but studios use it almost like this focus group.”

As a result, Headland predicted a move towards a world where “the content being made about Star Wars will be more culturally impactful than actual Star Wars.”

“I am a Star Wars fan, which means I have always been, since the launch of YouTube, part of the Star Wars recap/criticism/lionization fandom community,” Headland explained. “These guys I’ve known for years and years. So when I got the information from others about what the weather report was, there was this real concern from friends of mine or co-workers of mine that saddened me. I also was like, ‘I know who these guys are.’ You don’t have to tell me who’s talking about it or how bad it is online, I know exactly who they are. I supported them on Patreon.

"There are some of them that I respect, and there are some of them that I think are absolutely snake oil salesmen, just opportunists. Then, of course, there are the fascists and racists. So it runs a gamut. It isn’t just one thing or the other. So I think that if you’re in part of the fandom, you understand the genre and the tone of particular channels and creators. So in some ways I wasn’t surprised, and then in other ways I was disappointed. I think you always do that when you create something, it’s just that Star Wars is on a massive level of visibility.”

Headland also touched on her now-dashed hopes for Season 2, saying “it could have been worth it to allow the audience it was meant for to find it.” Ultimately, she sounds resigned to defeat on The Acolyte, and Disney has made no indication of reversing its decision to cancel the show. “But that wasn’t up to me,” she continued. “So I fully respect the decision, even if I’m sad about it.”

Last month, Headland confirmed The Acolyte would have gone on to feature a connection between The Stranger and villain Kylo Ren. Headland said The Acolyte's central villain, Qimir also known as The Stranger, would have eventually started The Knights of Ren, the cult the young Kylo Ren joined following his departure from the Jedi. Indeed, The Acolyte would have confirmed The Stranger as the first Knight of Ren.

Ubisoft Says Assassin's Creed Franchise 'Exceeded Expectations,' Driving Positive Financial Results — But While Mirage Gets a Sales Update, Shadows Does Not

21 novembre 2025 à 10:48

Ubisoft has celebrated a fresh set of financial results that it says has been driven by a "strong performance" for its Assassin's Creed franchise. But while there's an update on sales figures for 2023's Mirage, there's no new figure for how this year's Shadows has sold.

The French publisher's latest earnings report, published this morning, covers the company's performance over the first half of the current year: April through September. Last week, Ubisoft delayed the publication of these results at the last minute, prompting speculation that something had gone wrong with the company's big Tencent deal — though there's no suggestion of that today.

Ubisoft has framed the results in a positive light, with net bookings for the past quarter "above expectations" and up 39% year-on-year. "The outperformance was driven by stronger-than-expected partnerships," Ubisoft noted, "and was supported by a robust back-catalog, both highlighting the strength of the Group's brands."

One back catalogue game seemingly doing very well is Assassin's Creed Mirage, the series' return to a smaller, city-based adventure that launched a couple of years ago. Today, Ubisoft announced a new 10 million sales milestone for the title, and said its recent Saudi Arabia-funded free update had received "very positive" feedback from fans.

But on the sales performance of Assassin's Creed Shadows, the franchise's blockbuster feudal Japan entry launched in March, Ubisoft was less clear. Without providing a new sales total, Ubisoft simply said the game had "benefited" from the launch of its New Game+ mode and recent Claws of Awaji expansion, which seems obvious. The company then pointed to the game's upcoming Switch 2 launch as an oppurtunity for it to "reach a broader audience." Back in July, Ubisoft said Shadows had surpassed 5 million players, and that its performance had been in line with expectations.

Outside of Assassin's Creed, Ubisoft noted that Rainbow Six Siege's cheating issues were continuing to temporarily impact "activity and player spending versus expectations," following the game's previous move to an essentially free-to-play model.

Ubisoft still expects to finalize its $1.16 billion deal with Chinese conglomerate Tencent in the near future, company boss Yves Guillemot said, noting that "all conditions precedent have been satisfied." The transaction will secure funding for Vantage Studios, Ubisoft's new self-contained subsidiary in charge of its biggest brands, including Assassin's Creed.

Guillemot revealed that more of these companies, termed Creative Houses, will be detailed in January — a point at which the Tencent deal should presumably be sorted. After this, the future shape of the company should become clear, following years of internal turmoil.

"These Creative Houses will be autonomous, efficient, focused and accountable business units, each with its own leadership, creative vision and strategic roadmap," Guillemot concluded. "This Group-wide transformation reflects our ambition to renew how we create and operate in order to deliver great games for our players and lasting value for our partners and shareholders."

PlayStation's 2025 Black Friday Sale is Live: $100 Off PS5 Consoles, 33% Off PS Plus, and More

21 novembre 2025 à 09:59

PlayStation's official Black Friday 2025 sale is now live (see here). From Nov. 21 to Dec. 1, prices are slashed on a wide range of PS5 games, consoles, accessories, and more.

Standout offers include $100 off PS5 consoles and PlayStation VR2 bundles, $20 off DualSense Controllers and PlayStation Portal, and up to 33% off PlayStation Plus memberships.

Games from across the PlayStation 5's almost five-year life cycle are also widely featured in the sale across retailers like Amazon.

That includes recent entries like Game of the Year 2024 winner, Astro Bot, for $39.99, alongside a 2025 Game of the Year nominee, Death Stranding 2, for $49.99.

Third-party offerings are also up for grabs, featuring new games like Battlefield 6 for $59.45, Final Fantasy's 1-6 Pixel Collection for $39.99, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake for $34.99, EA Sports FC 26 for $29.99, and Borderlands 4 for $47.99.

There's plenty more games on sale that we haven't mentioned either, so be sure to check out the full PS5 sales pages at retailers like Amazon as well.

It's also worth noting that not every deal is live yet, and PlayStation fans should absolutely keep an eye out for even more discounts over the coming days as well.

That includes a recent release, and one of 2025's top rated games, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, which will drop to just $45 on November 24 (as confirmed by GameStop).

Notable PlayStation hardware deals include PS5 Pro consoles now sitting at $649.99, down from $749.99, and the PS5 NBA 2K26 Bundle now $449.99.

As it includes a free game, this is arguably the best console deal in the sale, especially if the new Fortnite bundles do nothing for you. Speaking off, the PS5 Fortnite Flowering Chaos bundles are also in the mix at $399.99 for the 825GB digital model or $449.99 for the 1TB disc edition.

You get PlayStation exclusive in-game items and 1,000 V-Bucks, making it the obvious pick for anyone who lives in the Fortnite ecosystem.

It's also worth calling out the the limited edition Ghost of Yotei PS5 bundles dropping to $499.99, a straight $100 off its $599.99 MSRP, including the game. At $500, you're saving $20 versus buying seperately in the sale, and getting a beautiful special edition console to boot.

The PlayStation Portal hits $179.99 as its first meaningful discount since launch, and the PlayStation VR Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle is now $299 after a $100 cut.

DualSense controllers are also down to $54.99 for the standard colorways, while the special edition versions, such as the Chroma series, are down to $59.99.

The limited edition Ghost of Yotei controller is also discounted, alongside the 20th anniversary God of War controller, both down to $64.99.

PlayStation Plus is also discounted as part of the Black Friday sale. New players can currently sign up and score 33% off 12-month memberships.

Those already part of PS Plus can save 33% when upgrading the remainder of their membership from Essential or Extra to Premium or Deluxe.

This is an improvement compared to the deal from Black Friday last year, which had 20% off Essential, 25% off Extra, 30% off Premium, alongside a 25% off Extra upgrade and 30% off Premium upgrade.

While this deal doesn't quite reach the heights of PlayStation's Lunar New Year Sale (25% off Extra, 37% off Premium, and 35% off Premium upgrades), it does match or improve on the 2025 Days of Play Sale (20% off Essential, 25% off Extra, 33% off Premium, and 33% off Premium upgrades).

Amazon and Best Buy have also started their official Black Friday sales, both of which will carry on all the way through to Cyber Monday on December 1.

Walmart is already featuring deals from the PlayStation sale, but its official discounts don't start until November 25, or November 24 for those with a Walmart+ membership.

Nintendo's Black Friday sale kicks off on November 23, and will feature up to 50% off games for Switch and Switch 2.

Are you planning to pick up anything in PlayStation's Black Friday sale?

Let us know in the comments, and stick with IGN as we continue to update you daily on the best Black Friday deals for 2025.

Should You Wait for Black Friday on November 28?

Like I mentioned, Black Friday deals tend to be a little confusing these days. Most retailers will tease plenty of limited time offers throught the whole of November, but the real discounts tend to not come out until at least a week before "Black Friday proper" as I like to call it.

I've been doing this for six years, and in my experience, PlayStation deals tend to stay exactly the same throughout the whole sale.

So if you've been waiting for a good deal on a PS5, controller, or game, these are the deals we're getting. Have no fear, there will be no Black Friday regrets come December, go forth and make any of the purchases you've been eyeing up.

An 86-year-old Superman comic found in a family attic has sold for a whopping $9.12 million at auction.

The 1939 first-edition copy of Superman No. 1 earned the highest CGC grade for the Man of Steel’s title comic debut, and became the most expensive comic ever sold when it went for over $9 million at a Heritage auction held this week.

Superman No. 1 is, alongside Action Comics No. 1 and Detective Comics No. 27, considered one of the “big three” comics. It marked the first time a character that debuted in a comic book had their own title devoted entirely to them. 500,000 copies of Superman No. 1 were initially printed, followed by print runs of 250,000 and then 150,000, but intact copies are rare today in part because it encouraged readers to cut the cover off to use as a poster.

This highest-ever-graded copy of Superman No. 1 was being protected by only a stack of old newspapers in a cardboard box, but still managed to earn a 9.0 on a 10-point scale by third-party comics grading service CGC. The $9.12 million price smashed the previous comic value record, set by an 8.5-graded copy of Action Comics No. 1 that sold for $6 million through Heritage Auctions in 2024.

This copy is one of only seven known with a CGC grade of 6.0 or higher. It tops esteemed pedigreed copies including the Mile High and Davis Crippen copies and is one of fewer than 100 copies of this issue in any grade, including restored examples, that Heritage has ever offered.

The copy that sold on Thursday was found last year under a stack of old newspapers in a cardboard box by three unnamed brothers in northern California while they were going through their late mother’s attic. Their mother had bought the comic when she was nine years old and living in San Francisco, the brothers, who have asked not to be named, said. Over the years, she told her sons that she had “rare comics somewhere,” but they never found them.

“This new record may someday be remembered as an early stage of popular culture collecting’s trajectory into the upper reaches of the auction field,” commented Jim Halperin, Co-Founder of Heritage Auctions. “The value and historical importance of these objects are becoming even more well-known to collectors all over the world.”

Paramount Reportedly Wants to 'Sonic-Fy' the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Franchise, R-Rated The Last Ronin Film Ditched in Favor of New Live-Action Reboot Movie

21 novembre 2025 à 07:57

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are reportedly in for some shell shock of their own, with Paramount planning a live-action movie reboot series inspired by the Sonic film franchise.

Sources told The Hollywood Reporter that Paramount has ditched the R-rated The Last Ronin, a live-action / animation hybrid (although it could return to it one day), and will now instead focus on a live-action movie. The sequel to Mutant Mayhem is still due out September 17, 2027.

First released back in 2020, The Last Ronin features a dystopian world in which all but one of the Turtles have perished, drawing inspiration from God of War among other works. It written by original creators Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, who said it was based on an outline from a story in 1987.

The Last Ronin was a big success for the Turtles, earning the story a sequel featuring a new generation of turtles. A Last Ronin video game is also in development, although we haven't had an update on it for some time.

The last live-action or live-action / animation hybrid Turtles movie was 2016’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, which flopped at the box office. Successful animated Turtles movies, including 2023’s Mutant Mayhem, followed.

Paramount has reportedly drafted in Neal H. Moritz, the producer of The Fast and the Furious and Sonic movie franchises, to lead this new Turtles charge in a bid to “fully unlock its potential,” THR said.

Given the success of the Sonic films, you can see why Paramount would want to get the producer responsible to repeat the trick with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. In January, Paramount hailed the success of the Sonic movie franchise after Sonic the Hedgehog 3 helped it pass $1 billion at the global box office. 2024’s Sonic the Hedgehog 3, which stars Keanu Reeves as Shadow, made nearly half a billion dollars during its theatrical run.

It feels like early days for this new era of Turtles films, and there’s no indication when the first movie will come out.

The Sonos Black Friday Sale Starts Early, Save up to 30% Off Soundbars, Speakers, and Headphones

21 novembre 2025 à 06:05

It's finally here. The much-anticipated official Sonos Black Friday Sale has just gone live several days ahead of November 28. Sonos hosts several promotional events throughout the year, but none of them hold a candle to the discounts we see during Black Friday. This time around, Sonos' most popular product are on sale, including its flagship Arc Ultra soundbar and the versatile Era 300 speaker. Sonos also offers free shipping a 12-month warranty on all of its products.

Save up to 30% off during the Sonos Black Friday Sale

Read on below for our favorite deals during this Black Friday sale.

Sonos Arc Ultra Soundbar

The Arc Ultra is Sonos' best soundbar speaker, replacing last year's Arc model. It is a massive 46" soundbar that houses 14 total speakers, including five tweeters (plus two upward-firing speakers for Dolby Atmos supported height channels), six midwoofers, and a four-motor, dual-membrane Sound Motion woofer. The Arc Ultra uses AI enhancement technology to isolate and boost the clarity of dialogue and voices. It also has a built-in microphone so that it can be controlled using voice commands from the Sonos app or your favorite smart assistant. Check out our own Sonos Arc Ultra review.

Sonos Arc Soundbar (Refurbished)

The Arc is still an outstanding soundbar even after the release of the Arc Ultra, and at $399 it's certainly a much better value. The refurbished model gets the same 1 year warranty as buying new. The 45" soundbar houses eleven precisely engineered internal speakers, including two dedicated height channels. It's Dolby Atmos ready, and the Class-D amps provide enough power that you can probably get away without a subwoofer (although you'd still benefit from one).

Sonos Era 100 Smart Speaker

The Sonos Era 100 is a compact powered speaker that pumps out great sound for its small footprint. Unlike the Sonos Move, this is not a portable speaker with a built-in battery, so you'll need to leave it plugged in. Sound quality is equivalent to a Sonos Move, which isn't surprising considering they have similar internal components: two tweeters, a mid-woofer, and three class-D digital amps. It has a built-in microphone for smart assistant functionality.

Sonos Era 300 Smart Speaker

The Era 300 is a much bigger, better sounding version of the Era 100. It's nearly double the size and weight. The Era 300 is also shaped differently, but there's a reason for that. The hourglass figure is designed to optimally arrange the six speakers so that they fire sound in all directions, enhancing Dolby Atmos and spatial audio effects. The Era 300 consist of four tweeters and two woofers paired with Class-D digital amplifiers and custom waveguides to help project sound to all corners of your room. It also has a built-in microphone for smart assistant compatibility.

Sonos Sub 4 Subwoofer

If you want to add ground-shaking bass to your Sonos setup, there's still nothing better than a separate standalone subwoofer. The Sub 4 boasts plenty of power in the form of dual inward-facing 5"x8" woofers and a ported design that allows for a louder and deeper low-end. It simply can't be emulated by a standard bookshelf speaker or soundbar alone.

Sonos Mini Subwoofer

If you are space constrained, consider the Sub Mini instead. Despite its compact size, the Sub Mini can still powerful room-filling bass by way of two inward-facing 6" drivers contained in a sealed (non-ported) enclosure. It features wireless connectivity so you can avoid the hassle of routing a cable back to the rest of your home theater components.

Sonos Beam (Gen 2) Soundbar

The Sonos Beam is a smaller, less expensive alternatives to the Arc. The Beam (Gen 2) is a 26-inch long, 5.0-channel soundbar with one tweeter and four mid-woofers for natural, balanced sound and four passive radiators to help with the low end. Although the Beam doesn't have physical height channels, it has two virtual height channels for Dolby Atmos support. There's also a built-in microphone for smart functionality.

Sonos Move 2 Portable Speaker

The Move 2 is Sonos' biggest and best portable speaker. It's size allows it to house two tweeters, a mid-woofer, and three class-D digital amplifiers. This is a standalone speaker with a self-contained battery and can be carried around from room to room. The battery provides up to 24 hours of continuous playtime and a simple but effective docking station essentially turns it into a powered speaker. It is IP56 rated for weather resistance and has a built-in microphone so that it can accept voice commands and is compatible with smart assistants.

Sonos Roam 2 Portable Speaker

The Roam 2 is Sonos' most compact and travel-friendly portable speaker. It weighs in at under one pound and is designed for both indoor and outdoor use thanks to an IP67-rated waterproof and dustproof housing. It houses one tweeter, one mid-woofer, and two class-H digital amplifers, so it's still able to pump out inpressively clean sound even at high volumes. The internal battery supplies the Roam 2 with nearly 10 hours of playtime, and it can be recharged over USB Type-C. It supports both Bluetooth and wireless connectivity and has a built-in microphone for voice control.

Sonos Ace Headphones

The Sonos Ace is a premium wireless headphone featuring Dolby Atmos spatial audio with dynamic head tracking, lossless audio streaming over Bluetooth, effective active noise cancellation thanks to eight optimally positioned microphones (plus Aware mode), custom designed 40mm dynamic drivers for accurate, distortion-free audio, a mix of plush memory foam and vegan leather for all-day comfort, and a stainless steel headband skeleton for durability. The battery lasts for up to 30 hours with ANC enabled and can be recharged over USB Type-C.

Why Sonos?

If you're looking for an easy solution to add great sound to your home, then you've probably already heard of Sonos. Sonos speakers are very easy to set up, don't take a large amount of space, and most importantly, offer distortion-free room-filling audio. They're definitely pricier than budget options, but the sound quality is comparable to speakers that cost hundreds more or take up much more space.

Early Black Friday Deals: The Coolest Xbox Controllers are on Sale, and Amazon is Going Head-To-Head With Best Buy

21 novembre 2025 à 06:00

Early Black Friday deals are in full force at Amazon and Best Buy today, but where to begin? Well Xbox Controllers are on sale in most flavors across the big box retailers, including the Sky Cypher clear controller that sets off my Gameboy Pocket and Color nostalgia off something chronic. There's plenty of gaming deals to choose from too, such as FC 26 going for $29.99 on PS5, Switch 2 and Xbox.

TL;DR: Deals for Today

There's two Meta Quest 3S deals going too, same price of $249.99 but one comes with The Walking Dead at Best Buy and the other comes with Cardboard Heroes, which is locked to Amazon. The biggest deal for me today is The Lord of the Rings Motion Picture Trilogy box set. It's got the theatrical and extended cuts in 4K for just north of $15 off, yes please! Let's get straight into today's early Black Friday deals:

Nintendo Switch 2 (Import) with Mario Kart World for $436

If you still haven't yet picked up a Nintendo Switch 2 because it's too expensive, there is an opportunity to get one at a discounted price. AliExpress is offering a Nintendo Switch 2 Mario Kart World console bundle for just $435.87 (normally $500) after you apply a $100 off coupon code "AEUS100" during checkout. It ships free locally from the United States (which means no tariffs and no obnoxiously long wait times). Note that the console is a Hong Kong import. All international Switch consoles are region unlocked, meaning they can be used in the US without any problems.

Xbox Controller Deals

If you're not looking at getting the Sky Cipher or any of the Breaker series controllers, we can't be friends. These are all usually over $70, so this is a cracking time to pick one or all of them up for your collection. The standard Carbon Black and Robot White controllers are available too for $15 less, but where's the fun in that?

Best Buy Early Black Friday Deals

FFVII-Rebirth for $29.99? Say less. That's a banging early Black Friday deal, not to mention Silent Hill f avoiding the new game tax at $49.99 instead of $69.99. Deals aren't just locked to PlayStation 5 either, with Battlefield 6 being available on Xbox Series X too. By the way, this is the better Meta Quest 3S bundle, but that's just my opinion. Which is correct. Sorry not sorry.

Amazon Early Black Friday Deals

Beats Studio Pro for $169.99, game over. That's a lovely $30 saving, but Sony WH-10000XM6 is over $60 off. They feature best-in-class noise cancelation and are all around beasts, but they're more than double the price of Beats Studio Pro, so it all depends on your budget. Either will work great with the ridiculous deal that is the Nvidia RTX 5060-powered DyberPowerPC Gamer Xtreme pre-built gaming PC for under $800. Granted, it's not the most powerfull DLSS 4-enabled GPU, but it has it, which means 1080p gaming with decent frame rates is well within reach.

Prismatic Evolution Figurine Collection

Missed out on preorders? Well multiple retailers will be selling the Prismatic Evolution Figurine Collection out of the gate. Here are the details on when I think they'll be on sale and where:

Black Friday Arzopa Portable Monitor Deals at AliExpress

A portable USB monitor has many practical uses, such as a secondary display for your laptop or a travel-friendly screen for your Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck handheld gaming PC. Ahead of Black Friday, Arzopa is hosting some big markdowns on its popular lineup of portable USB monitors via its official AliExpress storefront. Combined with some general AliExpress coupon codes, these deals are the lowest prices I've seen all year long. All of the portable monitors listed ship free from the United States, which means you don't have to worry about tariffs or long shipping times.

Magic: The Gathering | Avatar: The Last Airbender Collector Booster Box

The price on this has already dropped by nearly $100 to $455.88 compared to yesterday, so now is a better time than ever to get your preorder locked in. Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of the best things Nickelodeon put out when I was a kid, and its fandom still beats strong. This Universes Beyond MTG set hasn't only got me back into Avatar, but it's got me on MTG Arena to learn the game, not just collect it when I can. Collector Boosters aren't for playing, it's for those who want some solid binder material with far better pull rates than standard play boosters. There's a premium for that of course, but Amazon won't charge until it ships, which means you'll probably have a day or two to get the money you need together.

Final Fantasy I-VI Collection Anniversary Edition

For Final Fantasy fans who haven't played the 2D old school games, or for those who are fans of the sprite-based RPG vibe, this is the deal for you. It features a re-arranged soundtrack by original series composer Nobuo Uematsu, improved gamplay, a user interface overhaul, auto battle options and more quality of life improvements. 47% off makes this collection a no-brainer.

Dragon Quest HD-2D Remakes

Dragon Quest I, II and III HD-2D remakes are all out now on Nintendo Switch, with I and II also out on Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo Switch titles can be played on Nintendo Switch 2 if you want the full game on-cart rather than a game-key card, which requires a sizable content download to play. Of course you'll miss out on graphical fidelity and other upgrades.

JVSCAM 130,000RPM Cordless Electric Air Duster with Adjustable Tips

I love my cordless electric air duster, it comes in so handy for my desk and gaming rig, with the added attachments turning it inot a mini vacuum cleaner or duster. Ditch the cans of compressed air when cleaning out your keyboard and get one of these bad boys, you won't regret it for under $20.

AstroAI P10 Car Battery Jump Starter

Unless you've been stuck with a dead battery waiting for your breakdown cover to pick you up, you have no idea how handy these things are. They fit right in the trunk of the car, ready to save the day when you've left your headlamps on at night or need a bit of juice to get you to your local mechanic. With $50 off, this is something everyone should have in their diesel and gas cars.

Up to 50% off Pokémon TCG and Free $60 Gift Card

Imagine getting Pokémon TCG Booster Bundles for free, or paying $20 to $30 for an Elite Trainer Box, cool right? Well it's a real deal, and here's how to do it. Start by applying for a Amazon Visa card, then if accepted you'll get an instant $60 Amazon gift card added to your account, which means free Booster Bundles, Premium Collections and Booster Blisters.

If you're after something more expensive and want to knock the price down before using the $60 gift voucher, you'll need an AMEX or Discovery card. By paying $1 on your Pokémon TCG items in your basket, you'll receive an automatic discount up to 50%. So whatever you need to pay after the gift card is cut in half. That's not bad when you're talking Elite Trainer Boxes and Booster Boxes. If this discount doesn't apply, check the loyalty page on Amazon to see if you're eligible.

TCGPlayer 10% Cashback Black Friday Event

You read that right, everything is eligibe too. Buy something, get 10% back as in-store credit. With sets like Mega Evolution and Phantasmal Flames finding new floors, this is 100% the best time to fill those gaps in your binder. The sale kicks off on Black Friday, November 28. and ends on Cyber Monday December 1.

Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra Resin 3D Printer Deals

The Elegoo Saturn 4 Ultra line of Resin printers are perfect for anything that needs intricate detail, especially the 16k model, although the standard ultra does an amazing job too. The Saturn 4 Ultra and Mercury V3.0 wash is a perfect starter kit for anyone wanting to get into the hobby.

Elegoo FDM Printer Deals

What if I said I printed a full sized Stormtrooper helmet on a Neptune 4 Max in one go? It was such a fun project and this printer can handle some insane projects on the large and small side. In fact all of these FDM 3D printers are great for printing anything practical. I'm looking at you cosplayers.

Meta Quest 3S 128GB (Gorilla Tag Bundle)

$50 off a Quest 3S isn't a bad deal to say the least, and you also get the "Cardboard Hero: Gorilla Tag" game bundled alongside a three month trial to Meta Quest Horizon+, which means free access to over 40 games. You can also upgrade to the 256GB version and get Batman: Arkham Shadow bundled in instead for $329 instead of $399.99. Now that's an early Black Friday deal.

TMNT: The Last Ronin Box Set

This set contains three hardcover graphics novels encompassing the TMNT: The Last Ronin continuity. That includes "Lost Years", "The Last Ronin", and "The Last Ronin II: Re-Evolution". I won't spoil them for you, but this is one of the best series i've ever read, and I'm not a massive TMNT fan. And you won't be charged for your preorder until this bad boy ships. Not a bad deal at all with that cheeky 25% off.

Save $1,000 off the Razer Blade 14 RTX 5070 Ultra-Thin, Ultra-Portable Gaming Laptop for Black Friday

21 novembre 2025 à 03:30

One of the nicest ultra-thin gaming laptops has a big price drop ahead of Black Friday. Amazon is currently offering the 2025 Razer Blade 14 - equipped with a 14" OLED display, the latest AMD Ryzen AI 9 CPU, and a GeForce RTX 5070 GPU - for just $1,699.99 with free shipping. This system normally retails for $2,699.99. It dropped to $1,800 earlier this month, but patient deal hunters can now get it for $100 less.

Razer Blade laptops are well known for their impeccable build quality. The chassis is built from a single piece of aluminum and is designed to be exceptionally thin and light for a gaming laptop. In order to get away with the svelte form factor, Razer employs its own proprietary cooling design, which incorporates a vacuum-sealed, liquid-filled, copper vapor chamber to effectively whisk away the heat. Much like Apple MacBook Pros, a lot of engineering goes into a Razer Blade laptop, which is why they command a premium price compared to other mainstream brands.

Get the 2025 Razer Blade 14 RTX 5070 Gaming Laptop for $1,699.99

The 2025 Razer Blade 14 is a svelte little thing, measuring only 0.6" thin and weighing in at 3.6 pounds. It features a gorgeous 14" 2880x1800 OLED display with a "razor" sharp 264ppi pixel density and 120Hz refresh rate. The AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 is a power efficient yet capable gaming and workstation mobile chip with an onboard XDNA 2 NPU for AI applications. It's paired with 32GB of blistering fast DDR5-8000MHz LPDDR5X RAM and a swappable 1TB SSD.

The GeForce RTX 5070 is 5%-10% better than the RTX 4070

The Razer Blade 14 cannot be equipped with a more powerful GPU than the 5070, so you're getting the maximum power that this small form factor allows. The GeForce RTX 5070 mobile graphics has a maximum TGP rating of 115W, which means it isn't a throttled version like you'll find in most other "ultra-portable" gaming laptops. It performs about 5%-10% better than the RTX 4070 that it replaces and can run most games in the native QHD+ resolution. Many newer and more demanding games support DLSS 4.0, which significantly boosts peformance for any laptop with an RTX 50 series GPU.

Pluribus Episode 4 Review - ‘Please, Carol’

21 novembre 2025 à 03:00

Full spoilers follow for Pluribus Episode 4, “Please, Carol,” which is available now on Apple TV.

And so enters Manousos Oviedo!

We’ve heard about the gentleman from Paraguay before, this manager of a storage facility, the outlier among the non-infected who wants nothing to do with the Joined. And we also literally heard him last week, when he wound up in a shouting match on the phone with Rhea Seehorn’s Carol.

But now Pluribus’ fourth episode kicks off with another jaunt across the globe as we meet the character in person. Played by Carlos-Manuel Vesga, Manousos has approached this whole psychic-glue situation in a much more old-school, Charlton-Heston-in-The-Omega-Man way than the rest of those who have been unaffected by the virus. Holed up in his storage facility office, with the windows covered over as he methodically checks each radio frequency on his ham radio for any signs of, presumably, normal human existence, Manousos is even more suspicious of the Joined than Carol is.

He’s also going to starve to death if he doesn’t figure out a better plan. Those sweetener packets and coffee creamers aren’t going to last forever, let alone the dog food, but fortunately this mini-flashback to his conversation with Carol shows that he now has a ray of hope. (It’s also a lot of fun to actually see some of their chat translated this time around.) Yeah, Manousos and Carol are going to hit it off famously… eventually.

Back in Albuquerque, Carol takes to driving a police car – because it was there, because why not? – as she heads home from the hospital where Zosia (Karolina Wydra) is recovering from that unfortunate hand grenade business from last episode. Upon arriving at her house, she finds a whole crew repairing the damage from that incident, including the mayor and the best guest player of the week, Somebody Somewhere's Jeff Hiller, who plays Larry, aka Shorty.

Manousos has approached this whole psychic-glue situation in a much more old-school, Charlton-Heston-in-The-Omega-Man way.

Larry/Shorty had many friends before the Joining! And it’s no surprise, because when Carol uses him for a bit of an experiment in determining the Joined’s ability to lie, or not as the case may be, he’s just so nice and sweet and lovable. Carol’s books are as wonderful as Shaksespeare, he says! It’s not a lie, because a small but not insignificant portion of the population actually believes that. But when asked what Helen thought of Carol’s work… well, there’s no getting around that either. Her unpublished novel, Bitter Chrysalis? It was “fine,” Helen thought. Of course, she only got to page 137, paragraph three of it anyway.

Putting aside how the Joined continue to mess with the memory of Helen and, frankly, what should still be a period of mourning for Carol, this entire interlude does prove that they can’t lie. And later in the episode, this discovery leads to Carol messing up poor Zosia even worse than she did last week with the hand grenade. She’s really putting the Pirate Lady through the ringer.

About Zosia, yes, she’s part of an alien-influenced, worldwide cabal that has upended humankind and is determined to turn Carol into one of them. And yet! I still feel so bad for Zosia here. First it’s the way Carol drills into her about whether or not there’s a way to undo or reverse the Joining (apparently there is), and then how she, you know, drugs Zosia and causes her to go into freaking cardiac arrest. The Joined, the whole mass of them – I guess the whole planet’s worth? – are so pathetic in that scene as they cry in unison, powerless under Carol’s questioning.

That said, Carol’s story about the conversion therapy horror that her mother put her through at the Freedom Falls camp is pretty harrowing, and it’s pretty chilling when she points out that the always-smiling counselors there remind her of the always-smiling Joined. But then Zosia’s logic is at the very least compelling when she points out that while all the Joined know what it’s like to not be “alone” like Carol, Carol has no idea what it’s like to be one of the Joined. Maybe it’s not so bad?

Eh, screw that. In the spirit of Charlton Heston and each ever-loving mutant zombie he fought, every talking ape whose clutches he clawed his way out of, and every Soylent Green-ridden dystopia he sought to expose, Carol is a survivor and a fighter, and just as that conversion therapy camp couldn’t beat her, I have a feeling the Joined are in for the fight of their lives too.

And she hasn’t even met Manousos Oviedo yet!

Questions and Notes From Kepler-22b

  • How was the heroin?
  • Who else was yelling at the screen “Don’t lick the underside of that tin can top where the fly was buzzing around”!?
  • Does the internet work anymore in this world? I mean, I guess the Joined are sort of their own Internet now. But what about for Carol and the rest of the non-infected?
  • Seeing that note Manousos left for his (former) clientele, I couldn’t help but wonder if he does not fully grasp what has happened with the Joined. Or is he just being really optimistic that they’re all going to snap out of it?
  • “F#@$ your mother, @$hole!”

21 novembre 2025 à 02:20

As part of Amazon's official Black Friday sale, you can pick up the new 16GB Kindle Colorsoft tablet at an absolute bargain. It's currently at a new lower price, making it the most affordable than ever. It's down to $169.99, saving you $80 off its original listed price of $250. The 16GB Kindle Colorsoft Is On Sale Now

The Kindle Colorsoft is one of the best ways to read comics and save space on your bookshelf. The 7-inch high-contrast display doesn't strain your eyes too badly, so reading for extended sessions is fairly comfortable. You can highlight sections of your book or graphic novel using various colors, and its optimized screen for reading in color helps panels pop. A single charge can last up to eight weeks, and its adjustable display settings allows you to read in dark or bright settings with ease.

Digital comics are a great alternative to physical comics, as compendiums and omnibuses are typically some of the largest books around. With a Kindle Unlimited subscription, you'll have thousands of comics, manga, and other graphic novels available to you at the press of a finger. Check out our Kindle Unlimited subscription guide to figure out which tier makes the most sense for you. There are also plenty of other ways to read free comics online if you're not interested in a subscription service.

The Best Kindles at Amazon

We haven't quite seen Kindles drop this far in price since July's Prime Day, but it looks like Amazon is offering even better deals for Black Friday 2025. Compared to the Kindle Colorsoft, regular Kindle tablets are optimized for black and white reading, so it's generally recommended to leave comics and magazines to the Colorsoft. You can also pick from thousands of books if you decide to sign up for Kindle Unlimited subscription, so no matter which Kindle option you go for, the library of available books is endless. Nvidia 50-Series GPUs Are Getting Major Price Cuts for Black Friday, But They're Selling Out Quickly

21 novembre 2025 à 02:10

For those of you who have been patiently waiting for prices to drop before upgrading your graphics card, now is finally the time to take action. Walmart has slashed prices on the most popular Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series GPUs, including the RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5070, and RTX 5060 Ti (16GB). These cards cover the gamut from budget 1080p to high-fps 4K gaming. I don't know whether or not the inventory will hold over until Black Friday, however a couple of these deals were previously price matched at Amazon and they have already sold out over there already.

PNY GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16GB GPU for $699

Recommended for 4K gaming

Of all the Blackwell cards released thus far, the RTX 5070 Ti offers the best value for high-resolution gaming. This GPU is fully capable of running games in 4K at high framerates. It performs neck-and-neck with the RTX 4080 Super and marginalizes the RTX 5080, which is only about 10%-15% faster but costs 33% more. Like all Blackwell cards, the RTX 5070 Ti supports DLSS 4 with multi-frame generation. If you plan on using this card for AI, the RTX 5070 Ti may be a better value since it has the same amount of VRAM as the RTX 5080. Check out our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti review.

PNY GeForce RTX 5070 12GB GPU for $489

Recommended for 1440p gaming

Compared to the previous generation GPUs, the RTX 5070 performs comparably with the RTX 4070 Super. We wish there was a bigger generation improvement in raw performance, but the RTX 4070 Super was already an excellent card for 1080p and 1440p gaming and the difference in framerates widens considerably in games that support DLSS 4. In any case, the RTX 4070 Super GPU has since been discontinued and is only readily available in the used market. Check out our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 review.

MSI GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB GPU for $369

Recommended for 1080p gaming

The RTX 5060 Ti is an excellent GPU for 1080p gaming. It outperforms the RTX 4060 Ti by about 20% and the RTX 3060 Ti by 40%. The RTX 5060 Ti also benefits from Nvidia's new DLSS 4 technology as well as newer GDDR7 video memory. There are two RTX 5060 Ti variants floating around with the only difference being the amount of VRAM, either 8GB or 16GB. This deal is for the 16GB model. According to our Nvidia GeForce RTX 5060 Ti review, the amount of VRAM makes a huge difference. We recommend the 16GB model because it can run just about any game out there comfortably at 1080p and can even handle 1440p with adjusted settings. The 8GB model, however, struggles even at 1080p and don't even think about running games at a higher resolution. For under $400, there's no better GPU right now.

The Grave of the Fireflies Steelbook Has Hit a New All-Time Low Price in Amazon’s Black Friday Sale

21 novembre 2025 à 01:30

Welcome to Black Friday season, where every retailer on the planet drops “groundbreaking deals” and tasks you with figuring out whether they’re actually any good. One of the big ones, Amazon’s Black Friday sale, has already gone live, and it happens to include a solid spread of deals on anime Blu-rays. While the sale largely includes full series or individual seasons, there are a couple of standout movies in there, including a new all-time low price on one of the best Studio Ghibli movies, Grave of the Fireflies.

Grave of the Fireflies Steelbook Drops to New All-Time Low Price

Despite being one of the first movies Studio Ghibli produced, Grave of the Fireflies is the most recent movie from the studio to get a steelbook edition. The steelbook was originally released on July 8, 2025 at a price of $26.98. Since then, a number of deals have lowered Amazon’s ‘typical price’ to $17.89. A Black Friday discount has dropped that typical price even further, to a new all-time low at just $14.49.

IGN’s own Peer Schneider reviewed Grave of the Fireflies when it originally came to DVD in North America back in 2002. He describes how “Takahata tells this story masterfully and with plenty of pathos, without drowning the plot in too many tear jerking moments. But make no mistake about it; this is a sad, sad movie.” To hammer down that last point, the movie also takes top spot on IGN’s list of the best sad anime. Take that as you will.

The Grave of the Fireflies steelbook has a distinct look from the rest of the Studio Ghibli collection, featuring a full spread of a scene on its cover instead of flat background with a minimalist icon. It also comes with a spread of bonus features, including feature-length storyboards and an interview with the director, Isao Takahata. It’s an essential addition to any Studio Ghibli collection and could make a great holiday gift for the weeb in your life.

Should You Wait Until the Real Black Friday?

I don’t see this steelbook going any lower closer to Black Friday. If anything, it could go back up in price (yes, Black Friday is a ridiculous concept). On the other hand, I would definitely expect better discounts on the rest of the Studio Ghibli steelbook collection closer to the big day itself. You can check out our full breakdown of Black Friday 2025 for more details about whats sales are still coming down the pipeline.

This Premium 34" Alienware QD OLED Gaming Monitor Drops to Under $500 for Black Friday

21 novembre 2025 à 01:20

Black Friday kicks off with a bang thanks to one of the best deals I've seen for an OLED monitor. Dell just dropped the price on the venerable 34" Alienware AW3423DWF QD-OLED gaming monitor from $900 to just $499.99 shipped. This is one of Alienware's highest end gaming monitors, with a gorgeous QD OLED panel, WQHD resolution, and a respectable 165Hz refresh rate. Best of all, Alienware OLED monitors include a 3 year warranty that includes OLED burn-in protection.

34" Alienware AW3423DWF QD OLED Gaming Monitor

The Alienware AW3423DWF is a 34" monitor featuring a 3440x1440 WQHD resolution with 1800R curve, 0.03ms response time, and 165Hz refresh rate. This monitor is equipped with a Samsung quantum dot OLED panel. This is the best type of panel for gaming thanks to its near instantaneous response time, true black levels, and near-infinite contrast ratio. The AW3423DWF features a 99.3% DCI-P3 color range and is factory calibrated with a Delta E less than 2. It is HDR True Black 400 certified and boasts up to 1,000nits of peak brightness.

In our Alienware AW3423DWF review, Chris Coke compared it to its more expensive predecessor, the AW3423DW. He wrote that "Though $1,099 (its MSRP) is far from cheap, the Alienware AW3423DWF feels like a great value compared to the original. It offers the same stunning picture, and dropping G-Sync Ultimate really makes no noticeable difference in actual gameplay. What’s left is a monitor that is extremely similar for $200 less than it was earlier this year. That’s a win and an easy recommendation to make if you’re in the market for a high-end display with a spectacular picture."

The newer 32" Alienware AW3225QF 4K OLED monitor is also on sale

If you've got a powerful enough gaming PC to run games in 4K at high framerates, then you might want to future-proof your setup with one of the best OLED gaming monitors available. The Alienware AW3225QF was first announced during CES 2024 and is Dell's one of few OLED monitors that combine a 4K resolution with an OLED panel. It also has a higher 240Hz refresh rate and official G-Sync certification.

Something to keep in mind is that 4K monitors require a pretty powerful GPU. 4K resolution has 2.25 times more pixels than QHD; if you want to play games in 4K, especially at frame rates of up to 240fps, you'll want a gaming PC equipped with an GeForce RTX 5070 at the minimum. If your PC is equipped with an even more powerful card like the RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5080, or RX 9070 XT, then this monitor would be the perfect complement.

The Beats Studio Pro Wireless Noise Canceling Headphone Drops Below $140 for Black Friday

21 novembre 2025 à 00:30

As part of a limited time Black Friday Lighting deal promotion, Amazon is offering the lowest price I've ever seen on Beats' flagship headphone. Don't miss this opportunity to score a brand new pair of Beats Studio Pro wireless noise canceling headphons for just $139.99 with free shipping. The caveat is that only the "Matte White" colorway is available at this price. The other colors are also on sale, but their discounted prices range between $150 and $170.

Beats Studio Pro Headphones for $139.99

Beats is owned by Apple, and the Studio Pro is marketed towards people like myself who want a quality over-ear wireless noise canceling headphone but also don't want to spend $400 plus on the AirPods Max. The Studio Pro offers better audio quality than any other Beats headphone, and excellent active noise cancelation. It carries over a lot of Apple's trademark features like spatial audio with head tracking, one touch pairing, and "Find My" functionality. It also has a Transparency mode so you can listen to the environment around you without removing your headphones.

The Beats Studio Pro has a USB Type-C port for charging. If you want to use the Beats Studio Pro in wired mode, then can connect via 3.5mm audio jack or USB Type-C, which is a rare option nowadays. Most of the time you'll probably listen to your music wirelessly over Bluetooth, and the Studio Pro excels here with up to 40 hours of listening time on a charge. The Studio Pro also folds in for compact transport.

The Friends 4K Box Set Drops Under $100 for the First Time Ever for Black Friday

21 novembre 2025 à 00:02

As a child of the '90s, very few TV shows have impacted me as deeply as Friends. Some of my fondest childhood memories are of my family sitting down together to watch new episodes as they aired and laughing along with the studio audience in the background. I've seen every episode so many times that I can practically recite the lines as they come, but I still find myself binging every season at least once a year. It's my comfort show.

Friends is still available to stream with an HBO Max subscription, but if you don't have one then the best way to watch it is to buy the box set. More specifically, the 4K set. Warner Bros. released all 10 seasons in glorious 4K just last year and it has finally dropped below $100 for the first time since then.

Friends: The Complete Series Drops to Its Lowest Price

This discount is part of Amazon's offical Black Friday sale, so it will likely last as long as the sale is live or until it goes out of stock. When the box set was first released it was priced at $249.99, so to see it under $100 is pretty significant. This is the lowest price we've ever seen on this set and I'd expect it to jump back up as soon as Black Friday comes to a close.

The box set includes all 10 seasons, which comes as a total of 25 discs. In addition to all 236 original episodes, there's also hours of bonus content and a new bonus feature that didn't come with the previously released Blu-ray box set.

Why buy physical media?

Physical media has been making a comeback, and it largely has to do with ownership. In the case of Friends, Warner Bros. currently holds the rights to the show which means you can only stream it on HBO Max. But you may not be able to stream it there forever, and unless you have the highest tier subscription, you won't be able to watch it in 4K. Buying a box set like this is a great way to ensure you'll always be able to watch Ross and Rachel's tumultuous love arc in high definition, or turn on the Thanksgiving episode where Joey gets a turkey stuck on his head whenever you feel like it. And most importantly, if HBO Max decides to pull the series from its streaming platform (like it's been doing for Cartoon Network shows), you won't be left Friends-less.

The Best Gaming Desks: Create the Ultimate PC Setup

20 novembre 2025 à 23:27

Desks are an easy part of your gaming setup to overlook, but having a proper platform for your gaming PC, console, gaming monitor, and other peripherals can make a big difference. Most of us will start out using whatever surface is available, but making the jump to a specially chosen gaming desk can provide some key advantages.

The most important is a tabletop that is big enough and strong enough to accommodate whatever you want to put on it, but there are also more specialized features such as motorized sit/stand functionality, cable storage and organization, power management, and mounting points for accessories. Of course, there are aesthetic considerations in play too, whether you prefer a warm and inviting space with natural materials or something a bit more modern, stark, and streamlined. There's plenty to consider, so I've rounded up six of the best gaming desks we've tested to get you started.

TL;DR – These Are the Best Gaming Desks:

I've been reviewing gaming desks for years, with four desks currently crammed into my home office in the name of research, so I feel confident about these recommendations. Whether you're looking for something compact and affordable, a fancier electric sit/stand option, or a premium option with some extra gaming-specific features, you'll find at least one suitable option among these contenders.

Additional contributions by Chris Coke and Danielle Abraham

1. Secretlab Magnus Evo

Best Gaming Desk

The Secretlab Magnus Evo is a cheaper variant of the Magnus Pro, ditching the unique cable management run in favor of a simpler design that sees metal used along the back and on the front corners of the desk, allowing magnetic accessories like headphone hangers or cable tidies to be quickly and firmly attached. The desk otherwise incorporates the rest of the features that made the Magnus Pro excellent, including electric sit/stand functionality with controls sleekly integrated into the desk surface, an integrated power point, an included monitor mount, and a capacious cable storage cavity underneath the desktop.

The Magnus Evo is still compatible with a good range of accessories, including an assembly that lets you attach your entire PC to one of the legs, obviating the need to use extra-long cables for a desktop PC that sits on the floor but is used with a sit/stand desk at maximum extension. This attachment feels a little shaky with wide and heavy PCs, but it's still a neat trick.

Given that the Magnus Evo delivers the best features of the Magnus Pro while costing significantly less, it's our new No. 1 pick overall – though the Magnus Pro is still worth considering and can be found below.

2. FlexiSpot Comhar Electric Standing Desk

Best Budget Gaming Desk

When you’re tight on space and constrained on budget, a smaller and more affordable option like the FlexiSpot Comhar Electric is great to have. Its 48x24-inch size can easily house a full gaming rig and even a second (smaller-ish) monitor. The desk is durable and stable with a steel frame and solid bamboo desktop that supports up to 110lbs. It's not the most powerful sit-to-stand desk, but it can lift even the heaviest gaming rig without taxing its electric motor.

The Comhar doesn't look much like a gaming desk, but it's surprisingly feature-rich for its affordable price (I've seen it as low as $230 and it is often on sale). In addition to looking classy with its contrasting desktop and steel frame, it features a built-in storage drawer (a rarity in standing desks), a USB hub for charging your devices, and cable management underneath to tidy up your wires.

I've used numerous FlexiSpot standing desks over the years and they always manage to impress for their cost, even given that their instructions are sometimes less well written than their competitors. If you're looking for something that looks good and performs even better, the Comhar is definitely worth considering.

3. Secretlab Magnus Pro

Best Premium Gaming Desk

The Secretlab Magnus Pro is the "full-fat" version of the Magnus series, with an entirely metal surface that allows magnetic accessories to be used throughout, plus a cable channel towards the back that is excellent for routing cables without looking cluttered. It also offers electric sit/stand functionality, an increasingly common feature amongst premium gaming desks that might help your long-term health by reducing the amount of time you spend sitting down.

Like other Magnus desks, the Pro comes with an accessory ecosytem that allows you to add on RGB lighting, accessory mounts and even a full PC rest. There are also some dedicated cable management widgets which help tame any remaining wires. The Pro does come at a premium versus the Evo, but for those with a larger budget, it's well worth mulling the upgrade.

4. Corsair Elevate:6

Best Gaming Desk for Streamers

The Corsair Platform:6 is a uniquely specialist desk ideal for content creators and streamers, thanks to its surfeit of rail mount points for lights, cameras, monitors, Stream Decks, and other accessories. There are three variants available: the base model is a fixed-height desk, the Elevate adds electric sit/stand motors for height adjustability, and the Creator Edition tacks on a peg board that sits at the rear of the desk. All three models are premium propositions, with the base model just under $1,000, the Elevate model at $1,400, and the Creator Edition costing $1,900.

You do at least get plenty for the money, including a robust underslung cable storage solution that's among the biggest I've seen, a small cable cubby built into the surface of the desk, powerful sit/stand motors that can lift up to 330lbs, and a 72x30-inch span that can be further augmented with one or two 12-inch side extensions. (However, these extension pieces aren't compatible with the peg board on the Creator Edition and can be added separately to other models.)

The most critical element though is the rail system, with one bar across the top of the desk and one on each side, where you can mount various accessories using T-nuts. You get various mount accessories in the box, plus a dual monitor mount. These all work well, though I ended up removing the top rail so that I could use more traditional friction mounts and separate monitor arms instead.

If you make full use of the rail system and have plenty of accessories to mount, the Platform:6 is a dream option. However, something like the Secretlab Magnus Evo or Magnus Pro offer a bit more flexibility when it comes to choosing accessories and mounting methods.

5. Thermaltake ToughDesk 500L RGB Battlestation

Best L-Shaped Gaming Desk

Built like a tank with a steel frame and a massive desktop area, the L-shaped ToughDesk 500L truly is a battle station. Its L shape gives an extra side desk to play around with, and the large surface area is no match for the desk's three motors that take the desk from sitting to standing with a button press. (The controller can store up to four height settings.)

An L-shaped gaming desk isn't very common, but it's a fantastic choice if you're gaming in the corner of a room. When I tried this desk, I realized right away how beneficial it could be. The extra side is perfect for a laptop or some extra shelving to store your peripherals. Or, if you'd rather get your gaming PC off the floor, you can position it out of the way on that side, allowing you to have a wide open desk space in front of you without dust bunnies cluttering up your PC fan.

Beyond its impressive surface area, the ToughDesk 500L is built with gamers in mind, including useful features like cable management to fun ones like built-in RGB lighting, which can sync with Razer Chroma and TT RGB Plus. One especially handy addition is its big mouse pad, covering the surface area of both the main and side desks. Just be prepared to shell out about $1,500.

6. Eureka Aero Pro

Best Multi-Level Gaming Desk

The Eureka Aero Pro is an absolute beast of a gaming desk with enough surface area for multiple gaming monitors, a beefy PC, and a bunch of accessories. Its unique winged shape makes it easier to grab things. Three shelves at the back of the main desk are adjustable and ready to house a few monitors or a couple of computer speakers for a more immersive gaming experience. Under the main desk is a dedicated keyboard tray, allowing a 360-degree horizontal rotation and 15 degrees of tilt for better ergonomics when tapping away at keys.

While it was a bit of a pain to put together and the seams where the wings connect aren’t the most attractive, the desk is sturdy and comes in several sleek finishes perfect for a gaming setup or workstation. To keep a tidy gaming space, the desk comes with handy channels to help manage your cables, headphone and cup holders, and integrated slots to prop up a tablet or smartphone.

What to Consider When Shopping for a Gaming Desk

The best gaming desks must provide a stable and robust place to house your rig and a few great gaming accessories. From there, you have more flexibility in choosing the right desk for your setup.

Size and shape

The first thing to consider is shape and size. Whether you're looking for something small and compact that can fit into a dorm room or a spacious setup with multiple levels and storage space, options are available at different budgets. Knowing how much surface area you need can, obviously, help narrow down your choice.

Desk features

The next thing to plan for is what features you would prefer to have, which also includes appearance and materials. It's pretty common for gaming desks to have features like cupholders or built-in mouse pads, while more premium offerings include modular systems for mounting streaming accessories, peripherals, or even your entire PC. Storage space and convenience features, like built-in USB ports or even full power points for charging your devices, are another value-add common to the best gaming desks.

Height adjustment

Finally, consider the adjustments you'll need. Many gaming desks are non-adjustable but others offer the ability to raise or lower their height. So-called "standing desks" typically do this with powered motors at a higher cost, but others are adjustable with levers and locking legs.

Have a plan for your shopping because once that massive package is unboxed, you won't want to disassemble it and try to ship it back for something else.

Gaming Desk FAQ

Are standing desks worth it for gaming?

Standing desks have plenty of potential health benefits like improving your posture, relieving shoulder and back pain, promoting more movement to increase circulation – sitting too long puts you at risk for blood clots – and even helping with focus. But when you’re gaming, things get a little tricky.

Finding a sturdy standing desk to hold your PC setup is essential. Then you need to worry about positioning your peripherals for enjoyable gameplay and the prevention of accidents. That said, it’s not like we haven’t gamed standing up before – look at all those classic arcade cabinets. These days, most standing desks have powerful motors that’ll safely lift or lower your battle station with the push of a button.

A standing desk probably won’t improve your gameplay, but in my experience, being able to sit or stand at will is quite freeing. I'll admit, it's a feature I wasn't sure I would even use very often when I tried my first one. But having the option is great if you need to stretch your legs or change position in the middle of a long gaming session. Now I couldn't imagine not having the option.

What's the difference between a gaming desk and an office desk?

The differences are fairly subtle. Any office desk can be used as a gaming desk and vice versa, but there are some additional features that make a desk more suitable for gaming. For example, gaming desks are more likely to include cable management solutions, powerful electric motors capable of holding heavy PCs and monitors, or modular systems to easily mount monitors, headphones cameras, lights or other accessories. Aesthetically, gaming desks are also available in colour schemes to match popular gaming PC cases, and may include RGB lighting. Ultimately though, the line here is a blurry one, and it's best to focus on a desk that meets your requirements regardless of how it's described.

Amazon Resale Black Friday Deal: Save an Extra 30% Off at Checkout

20 novembre 2025 à 22:45

We’re just shy of a week away from Black Friday 2025, but the sales have already begun. To wit: Amazon is running a massive Black Friday sale on “Amazon Resale” products that gets you an extra 30% off at checkout. Tons of items are eligible (nearly 1,000), including video games and accessories like controllers. Since these are resale products (i.e. “used”), they’re already listed for lower than MSRP. This sale takes an additional 30% off at checkout, which means you can get this stuff at fabulously low prices. You can check out the full sale here, or just check out the video game items.

Amazon Resale - Save an Extra 30% Off

Note that, when you click a link, Amazon may default to new (non-Resale) version of the item. To get the sale price in that case, you’ll need to click the “Save with Used - Like New” option underneath the “Add to Cart” button. Make sure you see the “Save 30% at checkout” in green text as well.

Finally, a word of advice before we get into the thick of it. Amazon always lists the condition the item is in, and I always look for items that are marked “Used: Like New” or “Used: Very Good” to make sure I’m not getting anything in, shall we say, rugged condition. That said, the lower the condition, the lower the starting price, so feel free to pick up whatever you feel comfortable buying.

As for what items are on sale, it’s a lot. PS5 DualSense controllers are on sale. Xbox wireless controllers are on sale. So are Beats headphones, JanSport backpacks, and much, much more. You name it, basically. One word of advice: if you see something you want, grab it. Lots of items are flickering into stock and then vanishing from the sale page as they sell out almost instantly.

For more, check out the Amazon and Best Buy Black Friday sales, both of which are now live. For a catch-all, check out when to expect Black Friday sales, which has info about when they start at all the major retailers.

Save 25% Off a 512GB Nintendo Switch 2 Memory Card for Black Friday, Made by Samsung

20 novembre 2025 à 22:30

Nintendo Switch 2 owners have reason to rejoice because there's a new Black Friday deal on one of the most important accessories you can get for your console. Starting now, Amazon is offering the recently released Samsung P9 512GB MicroSD Express card for just $74.99 after a 25% off instant discount. Alternatively, the 256GB model is also on sale for $47.47, but you might want to pass on that deal; Nintendo has already announced that the official Switch 2 256GB memory card (which, by the way, is also made by Samsung) will drop to $39.99 on Cyber Monday.

Samsung P9 512GB MicroSD Express Card for $74.99

The Nintendo Switch 2 is only compatible with MicroSD Express memory cards. Samsung's P9 is pretty much identical to the official Switch 2 memory card but without the Switch 2 branding. The P9 is also available in a 512GB capacity, unlike the official card which is limited to 256GB. The Samsung P9 boasts transfer (sequential read) speeds of up to 800MB/s, far far faster than any former generation MicroSD card, which caps at well under 200MB/s for even the fastest models.

If you don't yet own a Switch 2, now might be a good time to get one. It's now in stock everywhere, including Amazon, without any invitation required. Nintendo also recently raised prices on Switch 2 accessories and warned that the console itself might see a price hike in the near future. I don't expect any sales on Nintendo Switch 2 consoles during Black Friday and the only way to get one cheaper would be buying an imported model from AliExpress or used consoles from eBay or other marketplaces. Check out our Nintendo Switch 2 review, in which Tom Mark aptly describes the new console as "a vital but unexciting upgrade to a console I already love."
