Save $600 Off the Powerful Alienware Area-51 RTX 5090 Gaming PC During the Back to School Sale

13 août 2025 à 19:35

If you're seeking the absolute best of the best in PC gaming performance, look no further. As part of a greater Back to School Sale, Alienware has just dropped the price of its flagship Alienware Area-51 prebuilt gaming PC equipped with the Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card to $4,549.99 with free shipping. This is a competitive price for a prebuilt RTX 5090 gaming PC compared to similarly equipped systems from other boutique PC builders, which is impressive considering the fact that the Alienware brand usually commands a price premium.

Alienware Area-51 RTX 5090 Gaming PC From $4,499.99

This least expensive Alienware Area-51 RTX 5090 gaming PC configuration is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 7 265K processor with 240mm liquid cooling, 32GB of DDR5-6400MHz RAM, and 2TB SSD storage. For an extra $250, you can upgrade to the Core Ultra 9 285K with 360mm liquid cooling. The Core Ultra 7 is already an excellent gaming CPU and you won't see any uplift in performance going with the Core Ultra 9. However, if you're a professional in need of the extra cores that the Core Ultra 9 offers (for example with AI generation), then the upgrade is worth it.

The RTX 5090 Is the Most Powerful Graphics Card Ever

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 has emerged as the most powerful consumer GPU on the market. Although Nvidia has prioritized software updates, AI features, and DLSS 4 technology to improve gameplay performance, the 5090 still boasts an impressive 25%-30% uplift over the RTX 4090 in terms of pure hardware-based raster performance. The 5090 also has more (32GB vs. 24GB) and faster (GDDR7 vs. GDDR6) VRAM compared to the 4090. Although Nvidia GPU prices have been trending downwards, it's still difficult to find a 5090 card for below $2,500.

Save Nearly 50% Off the Anker 60,000mAh Power Bank on Amazon: Massive Capacity, Compact Size

13 août 2025 à 19:35

If you're in need of a super high capacity power bank that's still pretty compact, check out this Anker deal from Amazon. Right now you can pick up the Anker PowerCore Reserve 60,000mAh 192Wh power bank for just $79.99 shipped after a 47% off instant discount. This is the lowest price I've seen for this particular model and beats out last year's Black Friday price by $10. The PowerCore Reserve is a lot smaller and lighter than a full-sized power station but has a much higher capacity and some unique features compared to other smaller power banks.

Anker PowerCore Reserve 60,000mAh Power Bank for $79.99

The Anker PowerCore Reserve isn't a tiny pocket-sized power bank that you'd tote around every day. You also can't bring it on the airplane as a carry-on (the limit is 27,000mAh). However, at only 5.1lbs, it's lighter than any dedicated power station. It's a great option for charging your laptop and mobile devices during a power outage, on an extended backpacking or camping trip, or any other time when you expect to be without grid power for hours at a time.

If you're intending to use this power bank to charge portable electronics, then 60,000mah is a huge amount of storage. Most power banks we post are well under half of that capacity. The lithium-ion battery chemistry will retain 85% of its charge even after one year of non-use. There are four ports to charge your devices: two USB Type-A and two USB Type-C. The two USB Type-C ports deliver 27W and 60W of power, respectively. The power bank itself can be recharged using a USB cable; it will take about four hours to fully charge the PowerCore Reserve using a 60W wall adapter. Unfortunately, the wall adapter and USB cables aren't included, so you'll have to provide your own.

Other features include a little pop-up light for emergency situations (night-light level brightness), an XT-60 port for solar charging up to 100W, a display that shows relevant info like battery level, input and output power, remaining charge time, and more, plus a convenient handle for carrying it around.

Anker is probably the most trusted power bank brand on Amazon when it comes to reliability and product quality. Usually that means Anker commands a higher price, but for many people it is worth it to get a product with better build quality, better technology, better customer support, and more peace of mind.

YouTube's New AI Age Verification System Goes Into Effect Today in the United States

13 août 2025 à 19:22

YouTube has officially launched its new AI age verification technology today, which will automatically add certain restrictions to your account if it thinks you’re under 18 years old.

This “age-estimation model,” as dubbed by the company, uses AI to establish if the user is under 18, despite what you might list as your birthday on your account. If the AI program determines the user is likely to be under 18 — which it uses factors like activity and longevity of the account to estimate — YouTube will enact restrictions and security measures.

Those restrictions and protections, which already exist on accounts for those under 18, include: showing only non-personalized ads; enabling “digital wellbeing” tools by default, which include reminders to take a break and for bedtime; showing reminders about privacy when uploading a video or commenting publicly; minimizing recommendations of videos with content that could be “problematic if viewed in repetition”; and blocking access to videos that are age-restricted for only viewers 18 and older (determined by YouTube or verified by users).

According to the video platform, users “have the option to verify your age (through government ID, selfie or a credit card) if you believe our age estimation model is incorrect.”

Initially, the program will focus on a small group of users in the US market “so that teens are treated as teens and adults as adults,” according to senior director of product management for YouTube’s youth products James Beser, who elaborated on the program in a blog post last month. “This technology will allow us to infer a user’s age and then use that signal, regardless of the birthday in the account, to deliver our age-appropriate product experiences and protections.”

Beser added in his post, “YouTube was one of the first platforms to offer experiences designed specifically for young people, and we’re proud to again be at the forefront of introducing technology that allows us to deliver safety protections while preserving teen privacy. Families trust YouTube to provide a safe and enriching experience, and we’ll continue to invest to protect their ability to explore safely online.”

Needless to say, many folks are not happy with this change, as it puts their account at the whim of a computer program with little oversight — and if flagged, will have to verify their age by uploading a government ID, which some users have said could leave them susceptible to data leaks and identity theft.

13 août 2025 à 18:56

Whether you're looking to pick up a carrying case, screen protector, or accessories, there are quite a few Nintendo Switch 2 deals worth checking out at the moment. Here we've gathered up some of the best that have crossed our radar lately. Alongside deals on the aforementioned items, we've also included exciting preorders, like for the Switch 2 Pokemon: Legends Z-A bundle, so you can secure a bundle for yourself ahead of its release in October.

If you're in the Switch shopping mood, now is a good time to pick up some of these items with great discounts available. Check out our favorite Switch 2 deals at the moment below.

TL;DR - The Best Nintendo Switch 2 Deals

Preorders Are Up for the Switch 2 Pokemon: Legends Z-A Bundle

Before we get into the deals, we wanted to highlight that the new Pokemon: Legends Z-A Switch 2 bundle is now available to preorder. If you're in no rush to get your Switch 2, this console bundle is set to ship on October 16, the same day as the game itself. It's currently listed for $499.99.

Note that there’s nothing special about the Switch 2 hardware in this bundle – it’s not Pokemon-themed or anything. It’s just a standard Switch 2 and a code for the game. But buying this bundle saves you $20 versus buying the console and game separately, as Pokemon: Legends Z-A itself normally costs $70 (see it at Amazon).

Best Nintendo Switch Game Deals

Nintendo Switch 2 game deals are, unfortunately, pretty few and far between at the moment (not counting a Sonic X Shadow Generations discount over at Amazon). However, there are some great Nintendo Switch game deals available right now. We've included just a few our favorites above, including a great discount on Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection.

Pick Up the SanDisk 512GB GamePLAY microSD Express Card

If you've been looking to stock up on storage for your Switch 2, Walmart's here with some good news: there's a 512GB SanDisk microSD Express Card in stock for $78, which is by far the best price we’ve found for a card of this size that you can buy right now. Walmart does have a 512GB Onn microSDXC Express Card that's slightly cheaper, but it's been out of stock for a little while now. This makes the SanDisk option the best pick to go for at the moment.

Switch 2 Carrying Case Deals

If you're planning on taking your Switch 2 out on any trips or adventures you have planned this summer, a carrying case is a very wise investment. Thankfully there are plenty of great deals to check out right now on a variety of different case styles, whether you want something slimmer or with a very sturdy build. We're particularly fond of the Tomtoc slim carrying case, which offers the best of both and is discounted right now.

Once you've picked up your new Switch 2, it's important to find some extra protection for it. Screen protectors are a worthy investment and, thankfully, there are plenty of deals available right now. Even though these items are usually pretty affordable on their own, the discounts are a nice little treat to take advantage of while they're available.

The LEGO Back to The Future DeLorean Time Machine Is on Clearance for $70 at Select Walmart Locations

13 août 2025 à 18:43

Walmart is clearing out the LEGO Icons Back to The Future Time Machine (DeLorean) 10300 building kit at an absolutely incredible price of $70. It's normally $200. The catch? The price is only available at select locations, so whether or not it's in stock or at this price depends on your zip code and store location. This is a really fun and relatively complex build for adult kids, especially since you can pick your favorite DeLorean from one of the three movies.

LEGO Icons Back to The Future DeLorean Time Machine

First off, this is basically a 3-in-1 kit. You get to choose which type of DeLorean time machine you want to build. Each movie from the Back to the Future Trilogy had a different car design, and the instructions and part materials allow you to build any of those three (but you can only build one at a time). The DeLorean from the first movie features the lightning rod and plutonium chamber. The DeLorean from the second movie is upgraded with fold-down hover conversion tires and a Mr Fusion energy reactor. The DeLorean from the third movie has whitewall tires and a hood mounted circuit board.

There are a lot of common unique pieces that you'd expect to find in all three variants of Doc's time machine, like the iconic flux capacitor light brick that actually lights up (battery included), gull-wing doors that open up to reveal a detailed interior, Dr Emmett ‘Doc’ Brown and Marty McFly minifigures that you can only get exclusively from this set, and accessories like Marty's hoverboard and the OUTATIME license plate.

The final build measures 14"x8"x5" and weighs about 4.5 pounds. There are 1,872 pieces to this build, so at the discounted price you're averaging about 9 cents per brick. This is one of the more complex LEGO builds and it's officially recommended for ages 18+, perfect for the adult collector or a joint venture involving you and your kid.

More LEGO Car Sets

Check out more LEGO cars to fill out your collection, including sets from Technic, Icons, Creator as well as themed sets from Transformers, Batman, or NASA. Most of these sets are geared toward ages 18+ and are rather challenging builds.

South Park Fans Have to Wait Until Next Week for a New Episode, As Series Takes Fresh Pause Amid Controversy

13 août 2025 à 18:40

South Park will skip out on airing a new episode this week as Season 27 of the Comedy Central show continues its bi-weekly run of takedowns against the Trump administration.

While past South Park seasons have followed a weekly release schedule, viewers will have to sit through another week without the show as it finds its new groove. Instead, Comedy Central is celebrating the long-running comedy series’ anniversary today, August 13, with what it has declared to be South Park Day (via THR).

This event that will see the network’s programming schedule filled with fan-favorite episodes like Casa Bonita, Fishsticks, and Make Love, Not Warcraft, as well as interviews with creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone and behind-the-scenes footage.

In other words, audiences will have to wait until next week to see the yet-to-be-named third episode of South Park Season 27. Fans were already on the edge of their seats following the latest season premiere, Sermon on the Mount, which saw Parker and Stone unambiguously taking jabs at Donald Trump’s policies, appearance, and more. Its July 23 premiere also saw Eric Cartman and other South Park regulars calling out Comedy Central parent company, Paramount, after the company found itself in hot water due to its merger with Skydance and the controversial cancellation of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

South Park Season 27’s second episode, Got A Nut, then followed two weeks later, after a surprise delay that saw it skip a week as well. This new slice continued the show’s scathing criticisms of the Trump administration while shifting its focus over to U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem (the latter of which is the subject of a new extended ending that's not for animal lovers).

Welcome to Mar-A-Lago! #SouthPark pic.twitter.com/MgIlIVL51j

— South Park (@SouthPark) August 7, 2025

South Park Season 27 has been brutal and seemingly unrestrained, to say the least, making the wait between each episode similarly painful for fans. The show’s latest season is planned to be 10 episodes long, although it’s unclear if it will continue the new bi-weekly schedule it’s enjoyed thus far.

Regardless of the longer-than-usual wait for more South Park, Season 27 has proven to be one of the most successful runs it’s seen since the show began in 1997. Sermon on the Mount managed to secure its place in TV history with 6 million viewers across Paramount platforms upon its premiere, with live viewing numbers up 25 percent for Got A Nut, too.

We’ll have to wait to see what surprises Parker and Stone have up their sleeves for South Park Season 27 Episode 3. While we wait, you can see what the two TV creatives had to say about Sermon on the Mount when they attended San Diego Comic-Con last month. You can also read up on their recent $1.5 billion deal with Paramount, which will see the duo producing 50 episodes of South Park over the next five years.

Resident Evil Survival Unit Confirms Some Familiar Boss Characters

13 août 2025 à 18:34

Capcom has dropped a new cinematic trailer for its upcoming mobile strategy game, Resident Evil Survival Unit, which appears to confirm an array of familiar enemies you'll have to fight.

Though a polished, flamboyant, and unashamedly bombastic showing of everything the Resident Evil series has come to represent to millions of fans all over the world, the cinematic trailer is precisely that — cinematic. Which means it doesn't give us a better understanding of systems underpinning the actual gameplay, unfortunately.

Nonetheless, Capcom's ready for you to register your interest, so if you like what you see — and hear; there's a very jazzy theme tune from Queen Bee — head on over to the App Store.

The upcoming strategy game spin-off for smartphones was given a proper reveal last month, confirming it's set in a parallel universe where you form a squad of characters from the series' biggest stars to take on zombies and monsters. Today, that roster now looks to include Mr X, Nemesis and... crocodiles.

Co-developed by Aniplex and Joycity, gameplay sees you building up a familiar-looking mansion as your base, where your characters will live and interact. You'll then head out onto survival missions against familiar Resident Evil foes, with Aniplex promising a "global multiplayer experience."

As for the other big Resident Evil-flavored taster we got earlier in the year? Resident Evil Requiem is coming on February 27, 2026. The next mainline entry in the Resident Evil series, it is directed by Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi and will feature a return to the series' 30-year-old "overarching narrative."

The Clue Advent Calendar Is a Murder Mystery Game You Play Throughout the Holiday Season

13 août 2025 à 18:32

When I was a kid, we always had our own homemade version of an Advent calendar. It was a sort of tapestry that my mom had sewn together and she would drop little surprises in each pocket for every day of December. Now that I'm an adult with a kid of my own, this is a tradition I really want to continue with my son. Since my sewing skills are severely lacking, I've been really happy to see how much things have advanced in the Advent calendar market since my childhood. There's even a Clue Advent calendar now apparently, which seems like a cool way to make new holiday memories.

This version of the classic family board game is an interesting take on the tradition. Instead of a little treat each day, you get a new clue to help you solve a murder. It's something the whole family can partake in or you can enjoy on your own.

Clue Advent Calendar: Secrets of Snowfall

This unique 2025 Advent calendar is now available to buy on Amazon for $29.99. According to the description for it, this game includes 24 days of clues and puzzles all connected to a larger mystery. The calendar itself opens up like a book to reveal a crime board and a map of the mansion. Players have to work together to unfold the mystery of who killed Boddy Black at his winter gala as each day as you open up each daily clue.

The biggest downside of this game is that you'll only be able to play it once. Unlike other murder mystery games that you can pass to other friends or family when you're done, this Advent calendar can only be used during the 2025 holiday season. This is due to some parts requiring folding, writing, or cutting and you won't be able to return them to their original condition. So in that way it functions like any other standard Advent calendar.

The LEGO Advent calendars are pretty cool too

If you're looking for more Advent calendar options that aren't just candy, it's worth mentioning that the 2025 LEGO Advent calendars are now up for preorder as well. Each day includes a new build or minifigure that makes it a great gift for kids that will last beyond one season.

Metal Gear Solid Delta's Delayed Multiplayer Won't Have Crossplay, and It's Not Going Down Well With Fans

13 août 2025 à 18:16

Not only will Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater be missing its multiplayer Fox Hunt mode at launch, the online offering will also lack crossplay support when it does arrive.

Metal Gear Delta developer Konami dropped the bombshell today via its Japanese social media account, and stated that players on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S would be excluded from playing with one another.

The response to the news has not been kind, with fans dubbing the announcement as "severely disappointing" and a decision that could now impact the overall longevity of the game, should particular platforms start to feel devoid of players.

"Why not? Konami IDs have existed forever. Use 'em," wrote one fan in response.

"I have friends who play on different platforms," wrote another. "Now I won't be able to play with them. This game mode will be dead on arrival if it doesn't have crossplay."

"Battlefield 6 will be getting my money," wrote a third person. "I can play with my friends in other platforms because they actually thought cross-play through."

Announced back in June, Fox Hunt is an all-new multiplayer offering stealth and survival elements, which Konami has previously promised will "camouflage and hide and go seek to the next level" rather than just providing another Call of Duty-style shootout.

This isn't the first time Metal Gear Solid has dabbled with multiplayer, of course. Metal Gear Online, which came bundled with Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots back in 2008, lasted four years, before its servers were switched off in 2012.

"When we say Metal Gear multiplayer, many fans will probably think of Metal Gear Online, but Fox Hunt will be its own new type of mode," said veteran Metal Gear Solid developer Yu Sahara, who now acts as Fox Hunt's director. "We very much appreciate all the long-time fans of MGO who have always wanted to see it make a comeback, but the landscape of multiplayer games has changed a lot since MGO. It took a lot of careful consideration to think about what a new online mode should look like."

Last week, Konami admitted that Fox Hunt would miss the launch of the main, single-player portion of Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, which arrives on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on August 28. Fox Hunt will then launch via a post-launch update sometime this "fall".

Best Gaming Mouse in 2025: Wired and Wireless Mice

13 août 2025 à 18:10

There’s a plethora of great gaming mice out there to choose from. But more so than picking out a great gaming headset, finding the right mouse has a lot to do with personal preference. Don’t get me wrong, when reviewing gaming mice, several factors make some demonstrably better than others, but you’ll want to consider things like weight, size, ergonomics, extra buttons, or even what types of games you play. Because of this, I’ve broken down my picks for best gaming mouse based on a number of categories to help you make the best choice for your needs.

For example, the Logitech G502 X Lightspeed is one of the most comfortable mice that prioritizes ergonomics, but I would recommend the Viper V3 Pro to those who want an edge in competitive rounds of Valorant. Some may even want a versatile gaming mouse that makes sense in work settings with good Bluetooth and battery life, which the Turtle Beach Pure Air fits admirably. Meanwhile, those extra buttons on the Corsair Scimitar Elite sure look nice to those who want to program all their MMO/MOBA commands off the keyboard. But if I had to just choose one mouse out of them all as a blanket recommendation, the DeathAdder V4 Pro from Razer gets my vote. Throughout this guide, I break down my hands-on experience with each of the gaming mice I recommend to showcase why I think they’re the right fit for their category.

TL;DR – These Are the Best Gaming Mice

Of course, these aren’t the only great gaming mice – products have matured over the years so features like sensor accuracy, responsiveness, and durability are better than ever, and anything worth its salt will have those bases covered. That said, there are still many aspects to consider when it comes to new technologies and features being crammed into modern mice. With that in mind, at the end of the guide I’ve outlined some important questions to ask when looking for a gaming mouse on your own. And as always, we’ll update this guide with new recommendations as we get hands on and review more gaming mice in the future, so be sure to check back whenever you need some buying advice.

See our list of the best gaming mouse pads, too!

Additional contributions by Danielle Abraham

1. Razer Deathadder V4 Pro

Best Overall Gaming Mouse

Razer's Deathadder has lived high on this list for years, and each version just gets better. The V4 Pro is no exception: Razer has upgraded everything from the sensor to the scrollwheel, and although some of the changes are incremental they add up to a noticeable leap forward.

This is a light, comfortable, sturdy, competitive gaming mouse that doesn't look flashy – no RGB or obnoxious logos – but has specs you can boast about. The 45K sensor is overkill, as is the 8K polling rate, but this is the kind of mouse you could buy and keep for years as you upgrade the rest of your setup.

I gave it a 9 in my review: It performed flawlessly in every game I tried, with precise tracking and ultra-responsive clicks on both its main two buttons and the two side buttons. It's comfortable to use for hours at a time no matter what grip you favor, and I even like the USB dongle it comes with, which has three indicator lights to tell you everything you need about your mouse at a glance. The cherry on top is the battery, which will last 150 hours at 1K polling rate. That's more than I'll ever need.

It is expensive – $10 more than the Viper V3 Pro, another top-of-the-line mouse on this list – but $169.99 is by no means absurd for a mouse that feels cutting edge. It's going to take something special to knock it off the top spot.

2. SteelSeries Rival 3

Best Budget Gaming Mouse

If you’re really tight on money but need to either upgrade from a standard office mouse or replace an aging gaming mouse without breaking the bank, the SteelSeries Rival 3 still holds down the fort admirably. It’s a symmetrical, somewhat-compact USB wired mouse coming in at 77g, and it's a good fit for fingertip- and claw-style grips. It’s designed with a little flash and flair with a programmable RGB strip around the base and on the SteelSeries logo at the palm. Most importantly, it’s comfortable and accurate to the point where I don’t mind using it for ranked Counter-Strike 2 matches.

It may not have the most sophisticated tech as its sensor taps out at 8,500 max DPI, but even then, the TrueMove optical sensor is still very accurate. Its left and right clicks aren’t quite as crunchy as my current favorites (and the side buttons are very thin), but that doesn’t hold it back from performing under pressure. It goes for a sort of one-size-fits-all design, so while I had no problems whipping it around for shooters, it likely won’t fit like a glove as some of the more higher-end mice tend to. But the fact that you can get a mouse that performs at this level for just $20 to $30 is an incredible value, making the Rival 3 one of the budget gaming mice.

3. SteelSeries Aerox 3 Wireless

Best Budget Wireless Gaming Mouse

Sticking with SteelSeries, the Aerox 3 is a flashy mouse that looks loud. The triangular cutouts at the palm and the bright RGB may seem over the top, but in actual use, its effects are quite nice (which you can customize through SteelSeries’ software). And if you’re worried about damaging the internals, they’re guarded so it's not actually exposed. None of that would matter if the Aerox 3 wasn’t fit for gaming, and thankfully it’s one of my favorite wireless mice you can get on sale for around $50 to $60. That makes it a great value for an all-rounder

In our Aerox 3 gaming mouse review, it earned a 9 for holding its own in competitive shooters with SteelSeries’ TrueMove Air optical sensor (topping out at 18,000 DPI) while not having to eat up too much battery – although battery life has evolved in brand new wireless mice, the Aerox 3 still isn’t a slouch and charges fast, if anything. It’s a bit tough to find a flashy, high-performance wireless mouse at this price range, making the Aerox 3 my current recommendation for a budget wireless mouse.

4. Logitech G403 Hero

Best Wired Gaming Mouse

The Logitech G403 has been a personal favorite for many years as I see it as the spiritual successor to my all-time favorite, the MX 518 from decades ago. Its grooves and super grippy rubberized texture on the sides make it easy to pick up and swipe around despite it being a bit on the heavier side of mice (although I will admit that the material picks up grime more so than others). I really like how large the G403 is since I have big hands, and that makes a palm grip very comfortable. However, its size is something to note if you prefer something smaller.

One thing I’ve always loved about it more than even brand-new top-line mice is the chunky and clicky side buttons – this makes them easy to use and distinguish from one another, which is helpful since I use them often. It’s outfitted with the same super-accurate Hero sensor as all of Logitech’s high-performance mice, making it a great value to get the same quality sensor in a reasonably-priced wired mouse. I also just like the simple aesthetic of the Logitech G product line, especially with this one being rounded and elegant with just the Logitech “G” and scroll wheel strip giving a bit of RGB lighting to boot.

5. Logitech G703 Hero

Best Wireless Gaming Mouse

This pick is kind of an easy one considering the praise I gave the Logitech G403 – that’s because the Logitech G703 is essentially the same mouse, but wireless. It shares the same dimensions as its wired counterpart, save that it weighs a bit more (95g) because of the battery. But you get all the same high-performance tech and ergonomic upside, just without the wire.

Despite it being ever so slightly on the heavier side of other wireless mice I’ve recommended in recent years, the G703 still feels easy to wield because its weight distribution makes it nicely balanced. The rubberized grips also help keep it secure in your hand, so it takes some of the load off of you as you’re lifting and swiping the mouse in gaming scenarios. And as I said earlier, the Hero 25K optical sensor makes Logitech mice some of the best in business in terms of tracking accuracy. It’s a bigger mouse, so again, take note of whether or not you prefer something larger (effectively making it wonderful for palm grips).

6. Razer Viper V3 Pro

Best FPS Gaming Mouse

To get the most out of the Razer Viper V3 Pro, you have to be pretty serious about competitive shooters – which I can be, at times, without getting toxic. It shares a lot of similarities with the year-old DeathAdder V3, but there are a few key differences that set it apart for those who want the absolute best performance, whether or not it be the determining factor in wins or losses.

The Viper V3 Pro is capable of a polling rate up to 8000Hz, meaning it sends inputs to your PC at a much faster rate than typical 1,000Hz mice. However, that difference is very hard to notice without the right scenario. It’s much more noticeable at high resolutions and higher refresh rates / frame rates since the increased input rate will actually translate on screen to smoother and snappier tracking. I could feel that difference when I gave the Viper V3 Pro a 9 in my review, and while I can’t say it made me a better player, it was noticeable.

Even if you are using this mouse at the standard 1,000Hz (which is plenty fast for competitive play), it does everything else right on top. The wider surface area of the mouse feet help it glide effortlessly on my mouse pad, and the springy clicks are very responsive for rapid fire. It’s a symmetrical mouse, so it may not gel with right-handed players quite as well as the DeathAdder, but the Viper V3’s size, weight, and texture make it a fantastic fit for fast-paced shooters. The only annoying part about it is that you have to use the HyperPolling receiver to use the mouse wirelessly, and the receiver requires a USB cable for connectivity. This mouse was designed with competitive FPS games in mind, so if that’s your priority, you won’t mind this slight compromise at all.

7. Corsair Scimitar Elite

Best MMO/MOBA Gaming Mouse

I tend to stick with normal-style mice regardless of the game I’m playing, but whenever I do try out a new multi-button mouse designed for MMORPGs or MOBAs, I always compare it to the Corsair Scimitar. And with the latest iteration in the Scimitar Elite, I’ve yet to find one that can top what Corsair seems to have perfected.

It’s a tricky thing to juggle – having upwards of 12 side buttons across your thumb while still being ergonomically sensible to use like a normal mouse is no easy feat. Still, I wasn’t afraid of accidentally activating one of the side buttons because they have a necessary firmness to them, which is what makes the Scimitar Elite so good. Those side buttons also have a nice tactile surface to them. By alternating the texture type of each column of buttons, it’s easy to distinguish which set of buttons you’re touching, and in turn, pressing down. It’s a simple and smart design, and I’d be hard-pressed to think of a way a new model or different brand can improve on what the Scimitar Elite already does.

Granted, this is a heavy mouse given all the buttons and additional internals required to make it all work, but this isn’t a mouse you’ll be swiping frantically for lining up flick shots in a Counter-Strike match. Although we’re here to focus on gaming, the 12 side buttons also come in handy in video production, photo editing, or data management since you can map shortcuts to them. It's a pretty hyper-specific niche to fill, but after hands-on testing of the Corsair Scimitar Elite is an easy recommendation if you prefer this style of mouse and can benefit from its features in MMOs or MOBAs,

8. Turtle Beach Pure Air

Most Versatile Gaming Mouse

I’ve found Turtle Beach mice to be a little hit-or-miss, but the Pure Air is a definite hit for me. It strikes a nice balance of being good for gaming while being a great work-style mouse thanks to its long battery life, light weight, ergonomic shape, and Bluetooth connectivity. The deep thumb groove lets the mouse fit like a glove, and because it’s more compact than most gaming mice, it’s easier to wield with limited space.

And even if I want to squeeze in some game time in Final Fantasy XIV or make progress in a single player game, it can still perform at a high level. I used it extensively while raiding in FFXIV while testing it out for review, and realized I hadn’t skipped a beat in terms of keeping up with how hectic that game can get. Granted, all of my critical actions are mapped to my keyboard, but at least the Pure Air was comfortable for long sessions. The only noticeable drawback during that time was the side buttons, which are fairly thin and tough to distinguish since they don’t have a gap to feel between them. Otherwise, it’s my favorite mouse to take on the go when I’m traveling and have work to do, since its Bluetooth connectivity adds versatility. And when I’m not on the go, I know that the 2.4 GHz dongle means I can game without much compromise.

9. HyperX Pulsefire Haste 2 Mini

Best Small Gaming Mouse

It’s a bit tough to find compact versions of popular gaming mice, which helps the HyperX Pulsefire Haste 2 Mini stand out and shine bright. The original Pulsefire Haste 2 is a great mouse to begin with (and oddly enough, its larger size was one of my favorite aspects about it), but shrinking that down to something noticeably smaller is more than just a novelty. It still sports a sleek look with a bit of RGB flair and still has a grippy material necessary for a fingertip-style grip, which is how I use a mouse this small. However, the reduction in overall height and depth (or rather, vertical length) make it easier to wield.

Those with smaller hands might not have fun with the likes of the larger Logitech G703 or Razer Viper V3 Pro, but with something like the Pulsefire Haste 2 Mini, they don’t have to make many (if any) compromises when it comes to gaming performance. You can find mice even smaller or lighter, but HyperX is able to include the high-performance Precision 26K sensor and long battery life, which are key features for a proper gaming mouse. It also includes Bluetooth connectivity which adds some versatility as a mouse to take on the go for work. So, beyond just being the shrunken counterpart, the Pulsefire Haste 2 Mini is a solid all-rounder as well.

10. Asus ROG Keris II Ace

Best Lightweight Gaming Mouse

On paper, the Asus ROG Keris II Ace roughly shares the same weight as other “lightweight” branded counterparts, but the reason why I’d recommend it if you’re prioritizing lightness specifically is because of its weight distribution. Even as I’m typing this, I’m switching between the DeathAdder V3 HyperSpeed and the Keris II Ace to make sure that I’m not misremembering the time I reviewed these mice – and yes, Asus’ mouse has the slight edge in this regard. It contours specifically for right-handed use, which makes it fit gracefully into my hand, making both palm and claw grips comfortable.

It wouldn’t be a proper gaming mouse if it also didn’t perform, and not only does it come with the AimPoint Pro sensor with a whopping 42,000 DPI, it's also capable of a 8000 Hz polling rate. As I mentioned when talking about the Viper V3 Pro, higher than 1000 Hz polling rate is only going to be beneficial, let alone noticeable, under specific circumstances (high refresh rate and framerate at high resolutions). And with all those factors accounted for, I was noticing smoother mouse tracking, so not only are you getting the best in the lightweight category, it’s also a pro-level mouse in terms of performance. In my ROG Keris II Ace review, I gave it an 8 due to a few shortcomings like the texture being a tad bit slick and clicks having a slight squish, but it excels in every other aspect.

11. Logitech G502 X Lightspeed

Best Ergonomic Gaming Mouse

If you want a true ergonomic gaming mouse you'll need an upright mouse or a trackball, but if you want a comfy mouse that will both cradle your hand and track your movements accurately, then the Logitech G502 X Lightspeed is a good pick. Its deep thumb groove and curvy body suit any grip, and when I tested it for my upcoming review I used it for multiple long gaming sessions without any aches or pains.

It has far more extra buttons than most gaming mice, with three on the side for your thumb and two on top, next to your main left click. Mapping controls to those buttons – or even commands outside of games – will help keep your keyboard hand rested, too. And although it's slightly larger and heavier than most mice, it's not as big and hefty as you might think by looking at it. If you've got slightly smaller-than-average hands, or bigger, you'll be absolutely fine. My one gripe is that if you use a palm grip, you might find it tricky to reach one of the side thumb buttons, but that's not a big enough flaw to stop me recommending it.

As a mouse from 2022, it's starting to show its age: It only goes up to 1K polling rate, lower than many of its competitors, and none of its buttons feel quite as satisfying as the best 2025 mice. But the benefit is that it's often on sale, and you can regularly find it for around $100. It's solid value at that price.

The X Plus is the version with RGB, but the Lightspeed has better battery life, is slightly lighter, and has a lower retail price.

Gaming Mouse FAQ

How do you determine what makes a good gaming mouse?

Much of what makes a good gaming mouse comes down to your personal preferences or what exactly you want to get out of a mouse. For example, I wouldn’t recommend the Viper V3 Pro to someone who wants a compact versatile mouse that’s still good for gaming – but I would for an aspiring Valorant pro! While I certainly have my own preferences, testing and reviewing a wide variety of mice over the years has opened me up to the intricacies between different models, giving me the opportunity to experience first-hand what makes one better than another.

The first thing you’ll want to consider is your preferred grip style: palm, claw, or fingertip. Generally, a bigger mouse is a better choice for palm grips while lighter and smaller mice are better suited for fingertip grips. Do you like having a more ergonomic feel with deep-set grooves for your thumb and pinky to help hold onto the mouse? Does using something super lightweight matter more for when you’re whipping the mouse around during clutch moments in Counter-Strike 2? For me, I gravitate towards the latter since I’m most comfortable with a claw grip.

Again, it comes down to preference, but reviews will illustrate the way different mice contour to the user’s hands and how weight factors into whether or not it is easy to wield. Some mice are ambidextrous/symmetrical, which should work just fine for right-handed users while giving lefties out there a viable option. However, mice built specifically for right-hand use may fit more like a glove for, well, right-handed players.

Button feel is a tough thing to suss out when researching mice, but I make it a point in my mouse reviews to determine the squishiness or springiness of mouse clicks since that’s an important factor for both comfort and performance. Manufacturers tend to differ on the kinds of mechanical switches used from mouse to mouse, but the more firm and tactile the clicking feels, the better, since it helps with rapid firing in shooters or repeated clicks in MMOs/MOBAs.

Another feature that’s become standard is programmable side buttons. Most mice offer two around the thumb area, but they come in all shapes and sizes. Comfortable positioning and being easy to actuate in a moment's notice are things we account for when determining whether or not a mouse’s side buttons are good. You may also be interested in mice that go the extra mile with additional buttons, such as the ergonomic-minded Logitech G502 or the MMO/MOBA powerhouse that is the Corsair Scimitar Elite – they’re nowhere near as nimble as other mice, but that’s the compromise they make to offer those unique benefits.

Another variable to account for is the sensor, which tracks movement. Almost every brand name gaming-grade mouse today is equipped with an accurate and fast optical sensor that’s more than enough to line up shots in a competitive shooter. A higher maximum DPI (dots-per-inch, which is one variable that affects sensitivity) used to be shorthand for a mouse’s performance ceiling, but it has gotten to the point of diminishing returns.

What’s the deal with high polling rate on gaming mice?

Gaming mice come standard with a 1000Hz polling rate nowadays, which means your mouse updates your PC with movements and inputs every millisecond (1 ms). That’s plenty fast for most gamers, but a recent trend born out of the esports world is equipping mice with higher polling rates – up to 8000 Hz. Pro-grade mice such as the Razer Viper V3 Pro and Asus Keris II Ace are capable of this, offering polling rates of 1000 Hz, 2000 Hz, 4000 Hz, and 8000 Hz. It’s technically impressive, but does it really affect performance? It can, under specific circumstances.

Polling rate doesn’t necessarily reduce latency, rather it increases the frequency at which your mouse movements are read. This can lead to an increase in smoothness since your PC is picking up and tracking the more incremental movements. Basically, polling rate is the measurement of how often the mouse sends data to your device (see chart above).

However, you won’t be able to actually reap the benefits if the rest of the input pipeline isn’t up to snuff. Two things to keep in mind are the resolution you’re playing at and the refresh rate of your screen. With higher pixel density (and screen space), the more those incremental movements matter. But also, higher refresh rates (such as 144 Hz and above) are important too. To benefit from those high refresh rates, your PC needs to be powerful enough to produce the high frame rates to match. In other words, there’s a lot that goes into PC gaming before you can start to notice the advantage of a mouse’s higher polling rate.

Part of me thinks of it as tech simply striving for higher numbers, but I must admit I feel a difference when using a higher polling rate (when the aforementioned conditions are met). And in the esports scene, those seemingly negligible differences can certainly help. Which is to say, don’t go out and get a 8000 Hz mouse and think you’ll reach Radiant in ranked Valorant without putting in the work.

Should I go wired or wireless for a gaming mouse?

Similar to optical sensors with fast and accurate tracking, wireless technology has gotten to the point where it’s very much imperceptible to tell the difference in input latency between wired and wireless mice. The standardization of the 2.4 GHz wireless receiver makes mouse performance consistent across several brands and models, so it’s not something you’ll need to account for when looking for a good gaming mouse. Various brands will put fancy names on proprietary tech, like Razer’s HyperSpeed or Logitech’s Lightspeed, but those are wireless technologies that are legitimately high-performing. Some mice also come fitted with Bluetooth connectivity, which makes them versatile in work or casual settings, but under no circumstances should you use a mouse in Bluetooth mode for intense gaming scenarios.

Another feature that has evolved substantially over the years is battery life on wireless mice. Plenty of variables go into battery life, and usually the rating you get from a manufacturer’s website is likely under the best conditions. But even with RGB lighting and sophisticated sensors and wireless technologies, you can get decent battery life that’ll last for a few days of constant use before having to charge. Every modern gaming mouse is chargeable through USB-C and can be used like a wired mouse when plugged in, too. As indicated in the chart above with regards to polling rate, the higher it is, the more power it’ll drain since you’re essentially asking your mouse to work much harder.

Many flagship mice have wired and wireless versions available – such as the DeathAdder V4 or the Scimitar Elite, for example – and of course, the wireless ones are more expensive. So if you don’t really care much for having wireless capabilities, you can save some money by opting for the wired mice. Note that if you’re interested in higher polling rates, it’s currently restricted to wireless mice, which also tends to tack on a few extra bucks onto the price tag.

Michael Higham is the tech reviews editor at IGN and has been very particular about his gaming mice since rocking a Logitech MX 518 like a decade ago. Having grown up playing Counter-Strike 1.6, and now keeping up with the Valorant competitive scene, having the right mouse has been important in his mind, even though he should just get good first.

The Best Hard Drive Deal So Far for 2025: Get a 26TB Seagate Desktop Hard Drive for Just $250

13 août 2025 à 18:01

I've posted a few deals on high-capacity local storage recently, but this is probably the best deal yet. Just in time for back to school, Seagate is offering a massive Seagate Expansion 26TB USB 3.0 Desktop Hard Drive for $249.99 shipped, which averages out to $9.62 per TB. This is the first time I've seen a drive priced at under $10 per TB this year.

Seagate 26TB External Hard Drive for $249.99

The Seagate Expansion boasts a single 26TB disk drive so it's physically no bigger than any other desktop hard drive. It features a USB 3.0 interface, which won't bottleneck traditional hard drive speeds, and a USB 3.0 cable is included in the packaging. It also includes recovery software and automatic recognition of both Windows and Mac computers.

Although SSDs are all the rage these days, traditional hard drives are still the superior choice for long term storage. For one, hard drives are significantly less expensive. Compared to this hard drive's $9.262/TB cost, a solid state drive would run you at least $60/TB. Hard drives also have a much higher maximum capacity. Consumer SSDs generally cap out at 8TB, which pales in comparison to the 26TB capacity of this drive. Perhaps most importantly, although SSDs can equal HDDs in terms of lifespan, it's much easier to recover data from a HDD than SSD if either one fails.

Nobody 2 Review

Par :Kenny
13 août 2025 à 18:00

Nobody 2 is in theaters Friday, August 15th.

Four years after Bob Odenkirk surprisingly proved he could kill onscreen bad guys in a ruthless manner that would make 1980s-era Schwarzenegger and Stallone pause, the Better Call Saul star returns as Hutch Mansell in Nobody 2. While not quite as strong as the first film, this is ultimately an example of a sequel that offers the-same-but-different in a suitably satisfying and crowd-pleasing way.

Having been revealed to be a former government assassin who’d reinvented himself as a suburban husband and father in the first film, Nobody 2 gives us a Hutch who’s fully back in his old target-seeking life, albeit to pay off a debt. But when he takes his family on vacation to try to get a legitimate break from the daily carnage, wouldn’t you know, the small town they visit turns out to be intertwined with a dangerous criminal syndicate.

With a script from John Wick screenwriter Derek Kolstad and boasting John Wick’s co-director, David Leitch, as a producer, Nobody definitely felt like “What if John Wick but with funnyman Odenkirk?” as its reason for being. The presence of the actor – who had proven his dramatic skills in Better Call Saul but was honed on decades of comedy, including Saul’s initial Breaking Bad depiction – was a tip-off that Nobody was playing things much more comedically than John Wick. However, it did so by mostly keeping a straight face, letting the idea of this hitman in suburbia and the escalating violence and chaos around him drive its humor. When Hutch tussled with a bad guy, he was an absolute badass, with legitimately thrilling and brutal fight scenes. But the movie also maintained its winking tone to let you know they were in on the joke.

The extreme violence gets pushed to viscerally cartoonish places.

But if Nobody felt like John Wick was its inspiration in terms of action and tone, the action in Nobody 2 (also written by Kolstad, along with Aaron Rabin) feels much more like a franchise Leitch also directed an installment of, Deadpool. This time out, the extreme violence gets pushed into more farcical and viscerally cartoonish places. It’s still brutal and intense and at times it’s even more graphic and bloody than the first film. But it’s now doing so in a bigger than life way that ditches the gritty and grounded feel used to house the humor last time. Body parts get blown up and sliced off while cannon fodder henchmen frequently die in nasty, darkly funny ways. It’s all quite entertaining, but it does feel like it loses a bit of the specific vibes that made the first film work so very well.

Even as the action is more outlandish, Odenkirk is still playing Hutch as the same guy, and he once more proves to be a terrific center for this series. The film gets a lot of mileage out of multiple scenes where Hutch tries to not get violent, only for someone to cross a line he just can’t abide. What makes it work every time is you can feel all of Hutch’s disappointment. There’s a resigned “Well, I guess this is what I gotta do…” reaction emanating from Odenkirk’s genuinely warm, sweet performance. Odenkirk sells how Hutch just wants a nice family vacation but damn it, now he’s got to take a few minutes to absolutely decimate some thugs. And, as with the first film, Odenkirk’s considerable fight training with 87North Productions (the stunt-centric production company founded by Leitch and Kelly McCormick) has paid off in him looking impressively credible and believably formidable in his action scenes.

Taking over for the first film’s Ilya Naishuller, Nobody 2 director Timo Tjahjanto brings a slightly more stylized feel to the film that meshes well with its more heightened approach. Though never quite matching the first movie’s best action sequences, such as its prolonged bus fight, there are still a lot of exciting moments here. Teamed with cinematographer Callan Green, Tjahjanto adds some great touches, such as a moment where Hutch shoots a bad guy with a shotgun, which we watch from inside a parked van, as the man’s body is propelled back into the windshield the camera is looking through.

The film’s third act finale showdown is especially fun and cleverly conceived, taking place inside an amusement park that offers a lot of well incorporated locations like a fun house, ball pit and water slide for its many confrontations, all of which are escalated violently by the inclusion of notably lethal booby traps that would make Kevin McCallister envious.

Amongst the supporting cast, it’s good to see the likeable group of Hutch’s wife and kids, played by Connie Nielsen, Gage Munroe, and Paisley Cadorath, more strongly tethered to the central plotline., while Christopher Lloyd and The RZA once more look like they’re having a lot of fun as Hutch’s equally combat-ready father and brother - though The RZA’s role feels a bit more shoehorned in this time out.

I wish I liked Sharon Stone more as the film’s main villain, the dangerous and diabolical crime boss called Lendina. Stone is clearly aiming to make this a bigger than life, cackling, unhinged character, but she feels a bit too stilted and mannered and it never quite lands. Better served are John Ortiz and Colin Hanks as two notable locals she’s using to funnel her criminal activities, who have very different perspectives on what’s been occurring. Hanks is especially amusing, bringing just the right smarmy nature to his very corrupt sheriff, while sporting one hell of an ugly haircut.

These Are The 11 Best Books of 2025 So Far and Why I Think You Should Read Them

13 août 2025 à 18:00

With great new books coming out every week, it can be easy to lose track, which is why we’ve put together our list of the best books of 2025 so far.

From fantastical fantasies to contemporary romances, absorbing thrillers and even some intriguing non-fiction, there’s something for everyone and every reading taste. How many of them have you read? Be sure to add your recommendations in the comments!

Not Quite Dead Yet by Holly Jackson

You might be familiar with Holly Jackson’s A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder trilogy – with it even getting a TV adaptation last year – but her first adult novel, Not Quite Dead Yet, is a real standout.

The story follows Jet, who is attacked and left for dead on Halloween night. Upon waking up in the hospital, the bad news continues – without surgery, which has a pretty abysmal survival rate, she’ll suffer a deadly brain aneurysm within a week. With neither choice being particularly attractive, Jet decides to use what little time she has left to solve her own murder. I mean, what a concept!

As you might expect, there are plenty of twists and red herrings to keep you hooked the whole way through, and this might just be my favorite book of the year so far.

The Knight And The Moth by Rachel Gillig

With the ability to predict terrible things before they are set to occur, Sybil and her fellow Diviners have traded a decade of service for a home in the great cathedral. However, just as they near the end of their tenure, a mysterious knight arrives who pays no heed to their visions. But when the Diviners start to vanish one by one, Sybil doesn’t have a choice but to ask for his help in finding them.

This slow-burning enemies-to-lovers ‘romantasy’ will keep you hooked the whole way through, with its interpretation of magic being an interesting one at that. And if you’ve already binged it, you will be pleased to know that a sequel is in the works, which should be released sometime next year.

The Favorites by Layne Fargo

Loosely inspired by Wuthering Heights, The Favorites follows Katarina and Heath, childhood friends turned ice dancing partners, and their rollercoaster of a relationship over the years. We see them as they ascend the ranks to the top of the sport, only for a shocking incident at the Olympic Games to end their partnership for good.

A decade later, Kat finally decides to tell her side of the story as part of an unauthorised documentary on the pair, with it seamlessly switching between the past and the present to completely immerse you in their history. Let’s just say, I lost count of the number of times that I gasped or felt a punch to the gut while reading this.

Sunrise On The Reaping by Suzanne Collins

Would it really be a list of the best books of 2025 without including the latest installment in the Hunger Games saga? Set 24 years before the events of The Hunger Games, during the Second Quarter Quell, fans of the much-beloved series will know that this was the year that Haymitch Abernathy (played by Woody Harrelson in the films) was the victor.

So, if you’ve always been curious as to how Haymitch came to be the character that we know and love him as, Sunshine On The Reaping does exactly that. One of our most anticipated book-to-movie adaptations, we certainly recommend giving it a read before it hits the big screen towards the end of 2026.

My Friends by Fredrik Backman

From the bestselling author of A Man Called Ove and Anxious People, Fredrik Backman brings us My Friends. Told in two timelines–the present day, where a young woman seeks to uncover the identities of a group of people featured in the corner of one of the world’s most famous paintings and 25 years prior, as a group of teenage friends spend their summer days together to escape their turbulent lives at home–this is a coming of age story with a difference.

Combining plenty of excellent character development with some heavier themes, this is a moving and memorable tale of friendship.

Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry

In our mind, Emily Henry can do no wrong, and her latest release sees two writers compete to see who will be the one to tell the story of now-reclusive heiress and daughter of one of the most scandalous families of the last century, Margaret Ives.

In telling her story to Alice and Hayden, we are transported back in time to discover just what caused the once-tabloid favourite to sequester herself away from everyone and everything. And as they continue to find themselves pulled to one another, despite competing for the same job, it soon becomes clear that Margaret has only been giving them pieces of her story.

As always with Emily Henry’s books, there’s a great mix of romance and a driving plot. Add in a small-town setting, and this would make an ideal holiday read.

Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy

On the hunt for a great mystery thriller to pick up? Well, look no further than Wild Dark Shore. Set on the tiny, remote island of Shearwater, not far from Antarctica, one family remains to look after the world's largest seed bank following the retreat of the researchers who once worked there.

With rising sea levels threatening to destroy not only the island but those who have chosen to stay, their quiet and isolated lives are upended when a woman mysteriously washes ashore during one of the worst storms the island has ever seen.

Yet, she isn’t telling the whole truth about why she set out for Shearwater in the first place, and she’s not the only one with secrets.

The Dream Hotel by Laila Lalami

Making this year’s Women’s Prize for Fiction longlist, this incredibly timely read explores the dangers of technologies that are supposed to make our lives easier.

When Sara returns home from a trip abroad, she’s stopped by agents from the Risk Assessment Administration. According to their algorithm and data from her dreams, she is at imminent risk of harming her husband, and for his safety, she must be kept under observation at a retention centre for 21 days.

But with ever-shifting rules and stays that can be extended seemingly without reason, it soon becomes clear that she won’t be leaving anytime soon.

Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil by V.E. Schwab

The author of The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue returns with another atmospheric and emotional story in the form of Bury Our Bones in the Midnight Soil. With three distinct timelines – 1532 in Santo Domingo de la Calzada, Spain, 1827 in London, and 2019 in Boston, Massachusetts – and three women who have been turned into vampires, it weaves a tale of love, revenge, hunger, and obsession.

Expect plenty of female rage, sapphic relationships, and rich settings, alongside the captivating writing style that V.E. Schwab is known for. We’ve made sure to add this to our TBR (to be read) list for the autumn months, and spooky season more generally, thanks to its Gothic vibes.

Careless People by Sarah Wynn-Williams

For non-fiction fans, Careless People by former Meta employee Sarah Wynn-Williams is well worth picking up. It’s probably not too surprising, given the title, but it features some truly reckless and horrible people while giving an insight into what goes on behind the apps that many of us have on our devices.

From the role that the social media platform has had in recent elections, to unchecked power, misogyny, and greed, it makes for an illuminating and cautionary read. We wouldn’t blame you if you finally deactivated your Facebook account afterwards, that’s for sure.

Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid

Starting off with a literal bang, when a mission to space goes awry, Atmosphere is actually one of Taylor Jenkins Reid’s quieter stories, with it combining a queer romance, found family and the struggles facing women in STEM at the time, all set against the backdrop of the 1980s space shuttle program in the United States.

It follows astrophysics professor Joan as she trains to become a NASA astronaut alongside her fellow crew, with the timelines alternating between the catastrophic mission and the years leading up to it. And there should be something for everyone, whether you’re an avid fan of all things outer space or simply want to be swept up in one of Reid’s character-led stories.

inZoi's Coming to PS5 Next Year, But An Xbox Release Is Only 'Under Consideration' For Now

13 août 2025 à 17:37

Impressive-looking life sim inZoi will launch on PS5 next year, sometime in 2026 — though an Xbox launch looks further off.

While publisher Krafton couldn't provide any further information on the release than this — so we don't yet even have an approximate release window, let alone a firm date — it did say in a statement on social media that the team "is working hard to bring you the best possible experience on PS5."

It also confirmed that an Xbox release "is also under consideration, but not yet confirmed." Sorry, Xbox fans.

inZoi is a life simulation game where players become gods within the game, allowing them to change everything as they wish and experience endless new stories in various forms of life. Its first free DLC, Island Getaway, will release on August 20, which also just so happens to coincide with the release of the life simulator's rollout on Mac, too.

inZoi says the Southeast Asia-inspired map was "shaped by feedback from our players, going all the way back to [the] Early Access launch earlier this year." As well as introducing the new dual-island map Cahaya, players will also get new activities like swimming, snorkelling, and farming.

IGN's inZoi review returned a 6/10. We said: "inZoi is a visually striking life simulator with plenty of ambition, but not enough depth as of its Early Access launch."

Last month, publisher Krafton addressed an ongoing debate about its plummeting Steam concurrent player count, insisting that as a single-player game sales are a better indicator of performance.

Phasmophobia Developer Working 'Really Closely' With Blumhouse On its Big Screen Adaptation: 'It Will be a Phasmophobia Film, It Won't Just be a Ghost Hunting Film'

13 août 2025 à 17:35

Phasmophobia developer Kinetic Games is working "really closely" with Blumhouse on its upcoming movie adaptation.

In an interview with IGN to discuss this week's launch of the Grafton Farmhouse map rework, we asked art director Corey J. Dixon for his thoughts on how horror production company Blumhouse will translate Phasmophobia's genre-defining gameplay to the big screen.

While you would be forgiven for presuming this adaptation could end up feeling like any old ghosthunting film, Dixon is clear: this will be very much a "Phasmophobia film" that "fans will want to watch."

"We've got a really good partnership with Blumhouse. It's brilliant," Dixon said. "It will be a Phasmophobia film, it won't just be a ghost hunting film — we're going to make sure it's a film that fans want to watch, and we're going to work with them really closely.

"They're really willing to work with us, and, obviously, we want to work with them," he added. "So yeah, we've got a really good partnership, and I think fans are going to love it when it comes."

We found out Kinetic Games' terrifying ghost investigation game, Phasmophobia, is getting the Hollywood treatment last month. Horror specialist Blumhouse — the credits of which include Five Nights at Freddy's, The Conjuring, and M3gan — has partnered with the UK developer to create a feature film adaptation. At the moment, nothing else is known, so we're not yet sure who'll be writing or directing it, let alone starring in the movie.

“It’s a big moment for the whole Kinetic team, and the start of something really exciting,” said Daniel "Dknighter" Knight, director of Kinetic Games, said at the time. “We never could’ve imagined the incredible heights this game would reach when it launched five years ago, and we’re so thankful to our amazing community for the lasting impact Phasmophobia has had in the gaming space and beyond.

"Working with Blumhouse and Atomic Monster marks an incredible new chapter for the game, and we can’t wait to share more as the project develops.”

We didn't have a great time with Blumhouse's last big horror game adaptation; we gave Five Nights at Freddy's a 4/10: "This big-screen take on the indie-horror sensation has too much plot and not enough of the game's primal security-cam thrills." A second Freddy's move is out in December 2025.

Wednesday Smashes More Records As Season 2 Hits 50 Million Views

13 août 2025 à 17:33

Wednesday is finally back for season 2 — and breaking records once again.

The Netflix series, which just premiered the first half of its second season on August 6, has acquired a whopping 50 million views for the first four days on the platform, according to the streamer. Despite being a pretty insane number for the first four episodes of season 2, it is still just under season 1, which garnered 50.1 million views… for the whole season.

The first season of the beloved Addams Family spinoff series continues to be Netflix’s No. 1 English-language TV series ever, but the second season now officially holds the second spot for that accolade. Season 2 has also been at the top of the streaming charts since its premiere, with it ranking first in 91 countries. As a result, the show has set a new record as the English-language TV show to rank first in the most countries in its first week.

Wednesday first premiered in November 2022 and was a smash hit on arrival. Helmed by a great lead performance by Jenna Ortega, the first season went on to receive four Emmy awards and was even nominated for two Golden Globes. Season 2 was announced in January 2023 and it’s been quite the wait since, but fans seem to be enjoying what has finally come their way.

The second half of season 2, which consists of four more episodes, will premiere on Netflix on September 3. But until then, fans have a lot to dive into — and a lot to get excited about, with a third season already confirmed.

"Wednesday continues to be passably entertaining mainly thanks to its visuals and its casting, particularly Jenna Ortega in the central role," IGN wrote in our Wednesday Season 2, Part 1 review, which returned a 6/10 score.

PUBG Has Decided It's Finally Time to Leave PlayStation 4 and Xbox One Behind

13 août 2025 à 17:12

PUBG has announced it will ditch support for the aging PlayStation 4 and Xbox One beginning this November, following eight years of service.

The veteran battle royale game previously said it would transition its console version to supporting just the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S later this year. Now, we know when.

In a statement to the game's playerbase, the game's development team said this decision "weighs heavily" after so many years, but was now a "necessary step" in order to better support the game's PS5 and Xbox Series X/S builds, and ensure they were not being held back any further.

"This shift is a necessary step toward aligning PUBG Console with current-gen consoles," the game's development team wrote today. "To provide our players with a more stable gameplay environment on console and ensure a smoother, more seamless experience with future updates, we've decided to transition to current-gen consoles.

"Following this transition, console players will see improved visuals and more stable frame rates. In addition, we expect to reduce ongoing crash issues through memory-related optimizations. As part of this transition, we will be ending support for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One."

PUBG will remain downloadable and playable on PS4 and Xbox One until November 13, 2025, after which it will no longer be accessible. Account details and purchased items will be preserved, however, if players log in on a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S in future.

After this time, Xbox Series S supported specs will offer 1080p/1440p at either 60fps or 30fps, while PlayStation 5 specs will be 1440p and 60fps. Xbox Series X and PS5 Pro specs will be 2160p and 60fps. Still, despite the improvements on offer for newer consoles, it's clear there's some nostalgia for Sony and Microsoft's older machines.

"It weighs heavily on us to deliver this news to our console players who have enjoyed PUBG on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for so many years," the development team continued. "We still vividly remember the epic battles, the heart-stopping moments, and the camaraderie that brought us together. We are deeply grateful for every moment you've spent with us over the past eight years.

"This was not a decision made lightly. It comes after long and careful consideration, in pursuit of the continued growth and long-term future of PUBG Console."

Magic: The Gathering’s Final Fantasy Precons Bundle Just Got a Huge Discount at Amazon Today

13 août 2025 à 17:01

In case you missed it, Final Fantasy’s Magic: The Gathering set was, as Ron Burgundy would say, “kind of a big deal”.

Just a few days ago, we shared that the Commander Decks had dropped under MSRP for the first time at Amazon, but now you can save even more if you want to buy all four.

The complete Final Fantasy precons bundle is now just $199 on Amazon, $80 off its original list price, and the best discount we've seen so far on the Commander Decks.

Magic’s Final Fantasy Commander Decks Just Dropped In Price Again at Amazon

After weeks of being upwards of $70 each (with the exception of Final Fantasy 6’s Revival Trance, which has always hovered close to MSRP), you can now buy a bundle of all four decks for $200 (or $199.99, to be precise).

That’s $50 a deck, despite three out of four costing more than that when bought separately. In fact, Final Fantasy 7’s Limit Break is STILL $72.50 at Amazon.

Amazon reckons it’s 29% off of the MSRP of the bundle, but given the price some of these decks have been going for (rightly or wrongly), we’d call that a more conservative estimate.

As a reminder, here’s our ranking of the four.

4 - Revival Trance (Final Fantasy 6)

Not just focused on Final Fantasy 6, but specifically the back half of the game, Revival Trance is helmed by Celes, tasked with rebuilding a party after the world goes to ruin.

That’d be a great theme for a revival deck, but there aren’t that many cards that, well, revive fallen comrades from your graveyard or anyone else's.

There are also no big reprints of note here, which is a shame.

3 - Scions and Spellcraft (Final Fantasy 14)

Final Fantasy 14’s Commander deck is somewhat of a rare beast insofar as it’s a spellslinger-style deck in Esper colors (White, Black, Blue).

As a result, its focus is on non-creature spells and dishing out damage with Y’Shtola, one of the two Commanders. It’s just a little slow to get going, needing you to pull out as much mana as possible in early turns to be able to start slinging those big spells.

Propaganda and Snuff Out are decent reprints, but there’s little else of big financial value.

2 - Limit Break (Final Fantasy 7)

Final Fantasy 7’s deck is absolutely fantastic, and actually dovetails nicely with Fallout’s Scrappy Survivors precon from last year (as long as you're happy with yet another bold RPG crossover).

It’s all about getting your creatures to 7 power to trigger additional effects from Cloud or Tifa, while minimizing equip costs to allow you to switch gear and keep opponents guessing.

Reprint value is decent, too. Not only do you get Darksteel Plate, Sword of the Animist, and Fire-Lit Thicket, but Clever Concealment has some amazing new art of Cloud’s disguise.

1 - Counter Blitz (Final Fantasy 10)

Arguably the most balanced deck out of the box, Tidus and Yuna helm this Final Fantasy 10 offering.

It’s all about counters, meaning you can buff your creatures, deal damage, and proliferate. It really could get out of hand quickly, and you can even get creative with the Summons in the deck, too.

Reprint-wise, you can get Walking Ballista, Damning Verdict, and Bane of Progress, all with new artwork.

The Running Man: Edgar Wright's Action-Thriller Headed to New York Comic Con

13 août 2025 à 17:00

The Running Man is coming to New York Comic Con.

IGN can exclusively announce that Paramount Pictures’ panel for The Running Man will be held from 11:00am-12:00pm ET on Friday, October 10 on the Empire Stage in Javits Center. The official panel description follows:

“Writer/Director Edgar Wright joins stars Glen Powell and Lee Pace for an exclusive look at this fall’s adrenaline-fueled, action-packed theatrical event. Adapted from the acclaimed best seller by Stephen King, The Running Man is only in theatres this November.”

We also have three new exclusive photos from the film that we can share with you. They can be seen in the slideshow below.

A dystopian thriller set in the near future, The Running Man follows Ben Richards (Glen Powell), a “Runner” in TV’s top-rated reality show where he can win a fortune – provided he can survive 30 days evading the litany of professional assassins hunting him.

Ben, a working class everyman, is only participating in the deadly competition because he needs money to help save his sick child. His every move televised, Ben becomes a fan favorite and then a threat to an entire system that’s addicted to watching people run for their lives.

The Running Man is one of Stephen King’s earliest books, penned under his then-pseudonym Richard Bachman. It was previously adapted into a 1987 action movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Edgar Wright promoted The Running Man earlier this year at CinemaCon where the footage shown revealed the differences between his movie and the Schwarzenegger film.

In the ‘87 version, Ben’s pursuit was contained to one specific area whereas in Wright’s film, Ben has to evade Hunters across the entire U.S.

Wright’s film is also closer to Stephen King’s book The Running Man than the 1987 movie was, making the show’s executive producer (Josh Brolin’s Dan Killian) and host (Colman Domingo’s Bobby Thompson) two separate characters as King had intended.

The Running Man opens November 7, 2025.

The Legend of Zelda Movie's Social Media Account Highlights The Weirdness of Nintendo's Franchise Being Made By Sony Pictures

13 août 2025 à 16:36

Nintendo fans have reacted in surprise and amusement at the fact that Sony is running the official social media account for The Legend of Zelda movie — and specifically the fact that it follows the official PlayStation account, rather than any of the official accounts for Nintendo.

The official The Legend of Zelda Movie profile on X / Twitter is verified directly by Sony Pictures' own official account, seemingly confirming its legitimacy. It recently sprung into life, retweeting various articles about the film's production and casting news.

Currently, the official account follows just two others: Sony Pictures itself, understandably, as the company is co-financing and distributing the film, and Sony's video game division PlayStation. That's right — not Nintendo, which created the series and whose consoles host its games, but PlayStation.

"Nintendo has nothing to do with the Zelda series, everyone knows that..." wrote X user Stealth, highlighting the odd situation. "Is the admin trolling lol," wrote another Zelda fan in response.

Last month, Nintendo legend Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed the Zelda movie's two main stars, as production on the project begins to ramp up.

"This is Miyamoto," wrote Miyamoto. "I am pleased to announce that for the live-action film of The Legend of Zelda, Zelda will be played by Bo Bragason-san, and Link by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth-san. I am very much looking forward to seeing both of them on the big screen."

Bragason, 21, previously appeared in Netflix fantasy adventure series Renegade Nell, as well as BBC crime drama adaptation The Jetty. Ainsworth, aged just 16, has only a handful of roles to his name, though notably appeared in Netflix horror series The Haunting of Bly Manor.

Officially announced in November 2023, Nintendo's live-action The Legend of Zelda project is being produced by Miyamoto alongside Avi Arad, former CEO of Marvel Studios. Jurassic World’s Derek Connolly is writing the screenplay, while Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' Wes Ball will direct.

Nintendo (and Sony Pictures) are set to release The Legend of Zelda in theaters on May 7, 2027. Maybe the movie's account will have begun following Nintendo by then.

As a bonus, these physical versions of the soundtrack also come with a fold-out poster and a randomized photo card for you to keep. With sing-along screenings set to hit theaters and sequels being considered, there's no better time to pick up a physical copy of the soundtrack to blast around your home.

Outside of its songs, we found plenty to love in KPop Demon Hunters. Our 8/10 review from Toussaint Egan said it's, "a terrific directorial debut for animator Maggie Kang and yet another feather in Sony Pictures Animation’s well-plumed cap. Rumi, Mira, and Zoey steal the spotlight and save the day in one fell swoop, delivering ample action with raw charisma and no shortage of gut-busting laughs."

Looking for more vinyls to pick up for your collection? There are plenty of preorders worth keeping on your radar, including the fantastic Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Vinyl OST Soundtrack and, if you're looking to get in the holiday spirit early, the A Charlie Brown Christmas 60th Anniversary Zoetrope vinyl is also up for preorder right now.

Warner Bros. Wants Zach Cregger To Make a Weapons Prequel Starring Aunt Gladys

13 août 2025 à 16:00

Once again, I ask: Did you see Weapons this past weekend? Did you catch a post-work screening to temper the weekday blues Monday or Tuesday? If you did, you definitely met Aunt Gladys, one of the most noteworthy characters of the new ensemble horror film by Barbarian’s Zach Cregger — and if you met her, you’d understand why the powers that be now want a prequel that focuses on her story.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, both Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema — the former of which owns the latter — have started discussions with Cregger about a prequel film that will bring audiences all the way back and expose the character’s origin story.

The outlet also claims that Cregger originally had a whole chapter of the film (which is broken down on the whole into chapters representing each of the main characters) for Amy Madigan's Gladys, which went into a bit of her backstory.

Alas, Gladys' backstory ended up on the cutting room floor, as the movie's script had already become too lengthy. Though, to be fair, that does make sense as the finished product clocks in at over two hours.

That omission seems to be working in Cregger’s favor, as the movie already appears to be a big hit, both at the box office and in the zeitgeist. However, THR noted that no deal has officially been made for a second film just yet — and that’s because Cregger is already hard at work on his third feature: his Resident Evil reboot starring Weapons MVP Austin Abrams.

Cregger’s next movie is set to hit theaters on September 18, 2026 — but after that, his next move is anyone’s guess. He could go the Weapons prequel route, he could make good on the original DC script he wrote featuring Joker and Harley Quinn called Henchman, or he could even take up another complete original idea like Flood, a sci-fi script he’s already finished.

"Writer-director Zach Cregger blends unbearable tension and dark humor once more in Weapons, a horror blockbuster that’s less of a blunt-force barbarian and more of a sharp-shooting assassin," IGN wrote in our Weapons review, scoring it 9/10.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection Has Dropped to Just $20 on Switch Today

13 août 2025 à 16:00

The Yu-Gi-Oh! Early Days Collection for the Nintendo Switch is down to $19.99 at Amazon today, a fairly significant 60% off the original list price of $49.99.

It features a compilation of 14 retro games based on the popular trading card game, many of which are available in the West for the first time within the bundle release, alongside a unique collectible card (Harpie's Feather Duster).

At $19.99, this matches the price we last saw during the Amazon Prime Day sales a little over a month ago.

Here's every game you get in the bundle:

  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters (GameBoy, 1998)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters II: Dark Duel Stories (GameBoy, GBC, 1999)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Monster Capsule (GameBoy, GBC, 2000)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Dark Duel Stories (GBC, 2000)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters 4: Battle of the Great Duelist (GBC, 2000)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Dungeon Dice Monsters (GBA, 2001)

  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Reshef of Destruction (GBA 2003)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Worldwide Edition: Stairway to the Destined Duel (GBA, 2003)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship Tournament 2004 (GBA, 2004)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! Destiny Board Traveler (GBA, 2004)
  • Yu-Gi-Oh! 7 Trials to Glory: World Championship Tournament 2005 (GBA, 2004)

But that's not all, as part of the Yu-Gi-Oh's 25th anniversary celebrations, you also score one of two exclusive pack-in bonus ‘Quarter Century Secret Rare’ cards when picking up Early Days Collection.

This card in question? Two variants of Harpie's Feather Duster as ‘Quarter Century Secret Rare’ printings, making these unique collectible cards possibly worth as much as the game collection alone.

In case this deal sells out, it's also available at Woot. Woot is an Amazon-owned retailer, and you can even use your Prime account to get free delivery when buying.

Other top deals to consider today include 30% off the MTG x Final Fantasy Commander Deck bundle, alongside discounts Star Wars: Unlimited boosters, such as the Twilight of the Republic Booster Display, a refurbished PS5 Pro on sale for $589, and Grave of the Fireflies Steelbook falling to its lowest price eve at Amazon alongside a whole bunch of other Studio Ghibli films.

Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy: Where to Buy Everything From The Insanely Popular Universes Beyond Set

13 août 2025 à 15:20

Magic: The Gathering’s Universes Beyond has gone everywhere from Middle-earth to the Warhammer 40,000 universe, but Final Fantasy marked the most successful outing for Wizards’ long-running card game in its thirty-year history.

Bringing together characters, creatures, locations, and moments from all sixteen mainline games, the set is no longer the hot new inclusion (more on its legality shortly), but you can still find packs, decks, and plenty more. Here’s everything you need to know about buying Magic: The Gathering’s Final Fantasy set now that it’s not the latest one released.

Final Fantasy x Magic: The Gathering - Where to Buy

Firstly, it’s worth stressing that Final Fantasy is a little different from some Universes Beyond products. Whereas the likes of Warhammer 40K and Fallout Commander Decks were never considered ‘Standard Legal’, Final Fantasy is.

That means you can use the cards in Standard until February 2028, and as a result, cards are still being printed outside of Collector Boosters, Secret Lair drops, and the foil versions of Commander Decks (more on that in a moment).

Since they’re still being printed, expect Play Boosters, Starter Kits, and Commander Decks to return to store shelves if they’re not available right now.

Play Boosters

Play Boosters contain 14 Magic: The Gathering cards.

Every pack includes 1 to 4 cards of rarity Rare or higher and 3–6 Uncommon, 6–9 Common, and a Land card, with a single foil included in each pack.

You can also buy Boosters in boxes of 30 packs, or in a Bundle that includes a life counter, card storage box, extended art cards, and both foil and nonfoil lands.

Collector Boosters

Collector Boosters offer 15 cards, including 5–6 cards of rarity Rare or higher and 3 - 6 Uncommon, 3 - 5 Common, and 1 Full-Art Land card, with a total of 8 - 12 Traditional Foil cards and 0 - 3 cards with a special foil treatment.

They’re harder to get hold of, and much pricier, but you can get them in Booster Boxes if you have the money to spend.

Starter Kit

A solid way to learn how to play Magic: The Gathering, the Starter Kit contains a Cloud deck and a Sephiroth deck to teach two players the ropes.

None of the cards included offer any real monetary value, but there is a code included to get both decks in Magic: The Gathering Arena for you and a friend.

Commander Decks

Commander is Magic’s most popular format, offering a way for two or more players to duke it out in a ‘Last Player Standing’ format.

Each Commander Deck, Final Fantasy or otherwise, comes with 100 cards and is playable right out of the box.

There are four available for Final Fantasy: Revival Trance (Final Fantasy 6), Limit Break (Final Fantasy 7), Counter Blitz (Final Fantasy 10), and Scions and Spellcraft (Final Fantasy 14).

The standard versions (with the Black boxes), will be reprinted, but the much pricier Collector’s Editions (with the white boxes) won’t be. These are functionally the same decks, but you’re paying for the entire deck to be given foil treatments.

Singles

Naturally, if you’re looking for specific cards for your deck or collection, you’ll want to buy single cards rather than gambling on opening packs.

With that in mind, we recommend a site like TCGPlayer. Not only do its sellers adjust to market value (which is visible for all), but you can view price history and see seller feedback (it’s part of eBay’s network).

Secret Lair x Final Fantasy

Secret Lair offers a series of collectible sets called ‘Drops’ that are only available for a limited time, and while Final Fantasy’s sold out quickly, they’re still available via third-party sellers like TCGPlayer.

There are three drops to look out for, each in Foil and Non-Foil versions.

Weapons:

  • Yuna’s Sending Staff (Staff of the Storyteller) - Final Fantasy 10
  • Clive’s Invictus Blade (Blade of Selves) - Final Fantasy 16
  • Cloud’s Buster Sword (Umezawa’s Jitte) - Final Fantasy 7
  • Gaia’s Dark Hammer (Colossus Hammer) - Final Fantasy 14
  • Tidus’s Brotherhood Sword (Sword of Truth and Justice) - Final Fantasy 10

Grimoire:

  • Yuna’s Holy Magic (Prismatic Ending) - Final Fantasy 10
  • Hope’s Aero Magic (Cyclonic Rift) - Final Fantasy 13
  • Noctis’s Death Magic (Damn) - Final Fantasy 15
  • Vivi’s Thunder Magic (Lightning Bolt) - Final Fantasy 9
  • Aerith’s Curaga Magic (Heroic Intervention) - Final Fantasy 7

Game Over:

  • Spira’s Punishment (Day of Judgment) - Final Fantasy 10
  • Absorb into Time (Temporal Extortion) - Final Fantasy 8
  • Merciless Poisoning (Toxic Deluge) - Final Fantasy 6
  • Unseat the Usurper (Praetor’s Grasp) - Final Fantasy 15
  • Meteorfall (Star of Extinction) - Final Fantasy 7

The Most Valuable Singles from Final Fantasy x Magic: The Gathering

The priciest card around right now isn’t a hero or villain from the Final Fantasy set. In fact, it’s the Travelling Chocobo in Borderless Neon Ink, and it’s currently close to $5,000.

It was a Japan exclusive, but other Travelling Chocobos in different colorways go from between $1,700 and $2,200.

Elsewhere, Borderless Surge Foil treatments of characters like Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER, Cloud, Midgar Mercenary, or Yuna, Hope of Spira are in the hundreds.

Amazing Magic: The Gathering Cards That Are Still Affordable

While there are some super pricey versions, you don’t have to spend all your money (or Gil) on those fancy variants.

We’ve put together a handy list of Extended Art, Surge Foil, and other treatments that are great cards for collectors or deckbuilders but won’t break the bank.

Final Fantasy Standard Legality explained

As we’ve explained above, Final Fantasy will be a legal set for tournament play (and Magic: The Gathering Arena) until February 2028, even though Edge of Eternities has launched since.

That means even if you can’t find packs or decks on shelves right now, there’s every chance it’ll change in the coming weeks and months, so try and avoid paying steep mark-ups where you can!
