Starting development all the way back in 2014 as a one-man project, Lost Soul Aside has been eagerly anticipated by many thanks to its Final Fantasy Versus XIII (later FFXV) inspired visual design and flashy action combat. Viewed by some as being vapourware, the action title is FINALLY set to arrive later this month – with the game having now officially gone Gold.

Making the announcement, Ultizero Games officially confirmed that Lost Soul Aside will indeed be ready to launch on its revised release date of the 29th of August, telling fans (as translated by WeChat and shared by Wario64):

“Dear superpowers, thank you for the long wait! Lost Soul has completed all development content and will be released on August 29, 2025 on sale as scheduled! Kazir and Arena's adventure is about to begin – mysterious-powers and unknown truths await your exploration and revelation.”

They concluded by writing: “The team is currently working diligently on final optimizations and testing to ensure every psychic has the most seamless gaming experience possible. Thank you all for your continued anticipation and trust. We will meet on August 29th to embark on a journey of destiny intertwined with souls!”

For the uninitiated, ‘Going Gold’ means that the ‘Lost Soul Aside’ master disc has been submitted to the game’s publisher. After this, discs can then be pressed with finalised software and digital storefronts can upload the 1.0 version of the game ready for release. It’s a process that every game in development goes through, and means that (aside from post-launch patches) Lost Soul Aside should be complete and ready to play.

As mentioned, Lost Soul Aside has been a LONG time coming, and so hopefully the game winds up being everything that both fans and Ultizero Games have long hoped for. We will finally find out soon enough.

A little over two years ago it was reported that anime adaptations for both Ghost of Tsushima and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice were in the works. Finally, after years of silence, a Ghost of Tsushima anime was officially confirmed. Now, it seems as though the Sekiro adaptation is getting ready for an announcement.

As discovered by ResetEra user ‘vestan’, a domain has now been registered for ‘sekiro-anime.jp’ by the well-known Japanese conglomerate Kadokawa (the same company which owns a majority stake in FromSoftware).

This seems to indicate that we might finally get an official announcement more than two years after rumours first sprung up.

In case you missed it, the anime-focused leaker ‘oecuf’ claimed all the way back in May of 2023 that two anime projects based on Samurai games were in the works – ultimately going on to reveal them as being Ghost of Tsushima and Sekiro.

Both titles must have been incredibly early in development, as it wasn't until earlier this year that Sony officially announced their Ghost of Tsushima anime adaptation for 2027; lending credence to oecuf’s leak from 2023.

Given that Kadokawa is now registering domain names, it is likely that we will finally hear about the long-rumoured Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice anime soon. It will be interesting to see what approach they take with it.

Despite the series receiving plenty of constant complaints every single year with each successive entry, the Call of Duty franchise remains one of the biggest in gaming. That said, following years of little competition, EA’s Battlefield 6 is set to directly go head-to-head with COD. Perhaps somewhat unsurprisingly, decades of success has made Activision feel infallible, with insiders claiming that the publisher thinks COD is “too big to fail.”

As reported by known leaker Tom Henderson via Insider-Gaming, the higher-ups at Activision aren’t too concerned with the upcoming arrival of Battlefield 6 later this year, with sources telling the publication that Activision leadership believes that Call of Duty is “too big to fail” and as such are not worried about the upcoming Battlefield 6.

That said, according to Henderson Activision is “keeping a close eye on Battlefield” – though it seems as though they believe the upcoming Black Ops 7 will ultimately come out on top.

While much can be said about the hubris of those higher-up at Activision, Call of Duty does manage to top the best-sellers list every single year with very few exceptions.

Even ex-Battlefield devs themselves recently weighed in on the matter, revealing that the most successful BF entry saw around 30 million players – roughly equivalent to the much-maligned Call of Duty Vanguard.

Even so, there is no denying the current energy and excitement surrounding Battlefield 6. Whether this will allow for EA’s waning franchise to once again compete with COD, we will have to wait and see – but there is certainly an opportunity here.

Over the years, Bethesda has brought paid mods to several of its biggest games, including Starfield and Skyrim. There is one long-standing game that has not yet received this update – Fallout 4. That will change soon, however. 

According to Bethesda-focused YouTube channel, JuiceHead, which also has an extensive library of modding-focused videos, Bethesda will soon update Fallout 4 with support for paid ‘Creations'. These are Bethesda-verified mods sold for small amounts of Bethesda's Creation Club currency, depending on the size of the mod. In the case of Skyrim and Starfield, the list of paid mods usually includes new items, new NPCs and even custom-made questlines.

This update is also supposed to squash a number of long-standing bugs, many of which were likely already fixed by community bug fixing projects. The game should also run better after this update, fixing the performance issues that were introduced with last year's Fallout 4 Next-Gen update.

While AMD's AM5 platform still has plenty of life left in it, the rumour mill is beginnning to shift attention to the next-generation AM6 platform.  A new report has shed some light on the potential design of the upcoming AM6 socket, and it contains some very good news for those who have invested in high-end cooling for their AM5-based systems.

According to the Bits and Chips report (via VideoCardz), the AM6 socket will feature a much higher pin density than its predecessor, with the total pin count expected to exceed 2100. That's a jump of over 22% compared to AM5's 1718 pins. Despite this increase, the rumour claims that the physical dimensions and overall layout of the socket will remain comparable to AM5. If true, this could mean that the existing AM5-compatible CPU coolers would also be compatible with the next-generation platform, which would be a massive win for builders.

This new socket is said to be the foundation for the future Zen 7 architecture. The massive increase in pin count is necessary to support the next wave of technologies, as the AM6 platform is expected to be AMD's first to introduce support for both DDR6 memory and the PCIe 6.0 interface. The launch of the platform will likely be tied to the general availability of the new DDR6 memory standard.

This is, of course, a long way off. AMD has pledged to support the current AM5 socket well into 2025 and beyond, and it is widely expected that the upcoming Zen 6 CPU architecture will still be an AM5 product. Still, this new report gives us an early glimpse at the generation that will follow, providing a logical roadmap for when a socket change will become necessary to adopt new I/O and memory standards.

Genshin Impact fans still using a PS4 will soon want to upgrade. This week, HoYoverse made the surprise announcement that the PS4 version of the game will be shutting down. 

As of April 8th 2026, the PS4 version of Genshin Impact will no longer receive any updates. In an official statement, the developers pinned the shutdown on “limitations related to hardware performance and platform application size”.

As always, there is a bit of a timeline to follow before the full shutdown takes place. The PS4 version of the game will be removed from the PlayStation Store on the 10th of September, at that point, you will no longer be able to search for or download the game on PS4, unless it is already in your library. Funnily enough, this is not the point where HoYoverse stops accepting payment for microtransactions – that comes much later, on February 25th 2026.

Then finally, on April 8th, the PS4 version of the game will go offline and will no longer be accessible.

If you regularly play Genshin Impact on PS4 and do not plan on upgrading to PS5, then the mobile version of the game is your best option.

Stardock and Oxide Games today announced Ashes of the Singularity II, the highly anticipated sequel to the groundbreaking, massive-scale RTS that redefined real-time strategy gaming a decade ago. Set to release in 2026, exactly ten years after the original, the game invites players to engage in strategic battles of unprecedented scale.

In the original Ashes of the Singularity, players experienced gameplay featuring thousands of units simultaneously across maps the size of continents. After spending well over a decade working on nothing else outside of Smash Bros. Masahiro Sakurai is finally returning to the Kirby franchise with the upcoming Kirby Air Riders. Set to arrive some time this year, the racing game has now been rated in Saudi Arabia – indicating that its release could be sooner rather than later.

As discovered by ResetEra user Neoxon, the Saudi Arabian games rating board (the General Authority of Media Regulation) recently published a listing for the upcoming Kirby Air Riders, suggesting that the game is likely complete and ready to play.

This is perhaps somewhat interesting as outside of the original cinematic teaser announcement during the Switch 2 Direct, nothing has been shown from the game.

That being said, Nintendo very rarely delays its games, with the two biggest examples perhaps being The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and the upcoming Metroid Prime 4 – though both titles had their own set of specific issues during development.

Still, having Sakurai return to the Kirby franchise after so long will be interesting to see, especially as the director has opted for a racing title as opposed to a more typical Kirby platformer. Hopefully we get a proper look at the game in the coming months – perhaps during a September Nintendo Direct?

Almost two decades following the original game’s release, Titan Quest 2 surprise-launched in Early Access just a few days ago. Despite the 20 years between entries, fans of the franchise seem to have come out in full force, with the action-RPG having already sold over 300,000 copies.

As part of THQ Nordic’s recent games showcase, the publisher announced and shadow dropped Titan Quest 2 into Early Access on PC. The sequel to this Diablo-esque ARPG brings with it countless improvements including new dodging mechanics; counterattacks; factions; world events and much more.

Given that the game received no marketing in the lead-up to its shadow-drop, Titan Quest 2’s near-immediate success is worth noting, with the teams at Grimlore Games / THQ Nordic taking to Twitter to say:

“The plains of Hellas are trembling and Mount Olympus echoes with the footsteps of over 300,000 champions! We salute you, warriors, and thank you for over 300,000 copies sold in less than 72 hours!”

While we do not have any up-to-date figures for the first game, the most recent reports placed the 2006 original at around 1 million copies sold.

Given that Titan Quest 2 is coming out 20 years later, it’s hard to make an apples-to-apples comparison between the two. That said, 300,000 copies sold in 72 hours is certainly worth celebrating – especially as early impressions appear to be highly positive.

It will be interesting to see how long the game remains in Early Access – and how quickly it will wind up surpassing the first game’s sales.

For the past half a decade, Asobo Studio has been updating and improving Microsoft Flight Simulator (now MSFS 2024) with bespoke recreations of many of the earth’s most populous cities and countries. Though there is still plenty of this planet to cover, Flight Simulator 2024 is now flying to the fictional world of Jurassic Park, with the upcoming ‘Archipelago’ expansion adding the likes of Isla Nublar, Isla Sorna and other iconic islands to explore.

Unlike many of Microsoft Flight Simulator’s updates, the Jurassic World: Archipelago expansion has been teased with no current release date aside from a vague “coming soon.”

In addition, this expansion is being handled by Orbx “in collaboration with Universal Products & Experiences” as opposed to the game’s main developers Asobo Studio. That said, the company has had plenty of experience working on various landscapes and assets for MSFS, and so the partnership makes sense.

So far, very little has been shared regarding this expansion, with the team simply teasing that “Something’s waiting off the coast of Costa Rica.” – seemingly suggesting that the new regions will be added to the current world map as opposed to being its own separate location.

That said, when it does eventually arrive, the expansion has been confirmed to include many regions from across the Jurassic Park / World franchise, including:

• Isla Matanceros
• Isla Peña
• Herradura Bay Marina
• Isla Sorna
• Isla Muerta
• Isla Tacaño
• Juan Santamaría

Microsoft Flight Simulator is a rather unique series and one which not many developers have the resources to fully realise. As such, it will be interesting to see how fans react to this latest announcement, and whether this represents the first of many future crossovers. We will have to wait and see.

Beyond this, Banishers: Ghost of New Eden is a choice-based action-RPG from Don’t Nod – the team behind the original Life is Strange, Jusant and most recently Lost Records: Bloom and Rage.

My Time at Sandrock meanwhile is the sequel to the much-loved farming / life sim My Time at Portia. Released in 2023, the game has seen and continues to receive consistent free and paid updates, turning it into far more than your typical farming sim.

As mentioned, Humble recently raised the price of their Choice subscription from £8.99 a month to £11.49. That said, for August in particular the price of admission is easily worth it for the value of games being offered.

If you are a Radeon gamer then it is time to update your drivers. Today, AMD rolled out its new AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 25.8.1 update, bringing optimisations for new games like Mafia: The Old Country and Wuchang: Fallen Feathers.

FSR 4 continues to gain traction with adoption in dozens of titles, enabling smoother gameplay and higher frame rates on a broad range of hardware. With this latest driver, FSR 4 support has been added for more titles, including:

• Cyberpunk 2077
• WUCHANG: Fallen Feathers
• Mafia: The Old Country
• Arena Breakout: Infinite
• Game of Thrones: Kingsroad
• Wreckfest 2
• Lies of P

On top of the new FSR4 titles, the latest driver also includes optimisations for the upcoming Battlefield 6 open beta, and the new UE5 version of Valorant.

This driver also brings support for AMD's newly launched RX 9060 graphics card, a new entry-level GPU for 1080p gaming, with 28 Compute Units and 8GB of GDDR6 memory.

AMD's first batch of Ryzen 9000 X3D processors with 3D V-Cache featured just a few different SKUs. Soon, AMD may expand the line-up, as a new report claims that the company is working on new Zen 5 CPUs for the X3D line-up, including a 16-core model that appears to feature dual 3D V-Cache chiplets for the first time.

According to the chi11eddog, a 16-core Zen 5 CPU that reportedly comes with 192 MB of L3 cache and a TDP of 200W, a 30W increase over the current Ryzen 9 9950X. This huge cache figure strongly implies a dual CCD configuration where both 8-core chiplets are equipped with a 64 MB slice of 3D V-Cache on top of their native 32 MB of L3.

If true, this would be a landmark product for AMD and a massive win for enthusiasts. It would be the company's first-ever consumer desktop CPU with two V-Cache dies. This would solve the main drawback of the previous-gen 7950X3D and the 9950X3D, which used an asymmetric design with one V-Cache CCD and one standard CCD, forcing the system to juggle workloads between them. A CPU with V-Cache on all 16 cores would offer no-compromise performance, delivering the maximum gaming benefit without sacrificing all-core productivity speed.

The leak also mentions a second, more conventional 8-core variant with 96MB of L3 cache and a 120W TDP. Based on these specs alone, this looks very much like a potential Ryzen 7 9700X3D, following the familiar formula of a single 8-core CCD with 3D V-Cache.

KitGuru says: AMD has previously commented on the high cost of producing dual V-Cache CPUs for the consumer market, so take this rumour with a grain of salt.

Last week, Nintendo held a Direct showcase to announce a number of third-party games for the Switch 2. A new showcase has now been announced for August, this time focused on the indies. 

The Nintendo Indie World showcase returns on the 7th of August at 2PM BST. The stream will run for around 15 minutes, showing off new independently developed games for the Switch and Switch 2.

As Switch 2 devkits are still quite scarce, the indie developers featured in this showcase were likely hand-picked by Nintendo prior to the Switch 2 launch, which means there should be some exciting and creative games shown.

There is still no word on when Nintendo will next show off first-party games for the Switch 2. Many fans were disappointed with last week's Direct as quite a few of the announcements were older games being ported, or games we already knew about like EA FC and Madden. The silence on the first-party front led to new rumours that Metroid Prime 4 would be delayed, but Nintendo recently denied those claims.

KitGuru Says: For years, we were hearing rumoured about Nintendo's next-gen hardware, but everything we've seen so far around the Switch 2 suggests that the console launch was somewhat rushed. Nintendo has done a great job with producing units and refreshing global stocks, but the lack of major exclusive games, or even upgrades for older Switch 1 games, has been disappointing.

The first wave of Game Pass titles for the month have now been announced. While last month saw Grounded 2 headlining, August 2025 sees a major third-party AAA game joining the library – Assassin's Creed Mirage. 

Assassin's Creed Mirage and Aliens: Fireteam Elite are the two ‘biggest names' joining Game Pass this month. Assassin's Creed Mirage will be available to Game Pass PC and Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, while Aliens: Fireteam Elite will be available for Game Pass standard subscribers.

Here is the full list of titles coming to Game Pass over the next couple of weeks:

• Rain World (Cloud, Console and PC) – Available Today
• Citizen Sleeper 2: Starward Vector (Xbox Series X/S) – August 6th
• Lonely Mountains: Snow Riders (Xbox Series X/S) – August 6th

The good news is that if you do want to continue playing any of these games, you can buy it at a 20% discount before it leaves Game Pass.

While Microsoft has brought many of its recent exclusives to PS5 there is one big game missing – Starfield. Bethesda's latest RPG released just months before Microsoft pivoted from exclusives to multiplatform game development. Many expected Starfield to hit PS5 sometime this year, in lieu of a new expansion, but new reports suggest 2026 will be the year. 

According to sources speaking with MP1st, a site that has been very active in the leaker scene in recent months, Bethesda is now targeting a 2026 release for Starfield on PS5. The game is expected to drop on Sony's platform in Q2 next year, which runs from April through to the end of June.

Apparently, the game was going to come to PS5 this year but was pushed back a bit due to ‘weak' sales of the first Starfield expansion, Shattered Space.

It sounds like Starfield will be getting a major overhaul alongside the PS5 release. Bethesda head, Todd Howard, stated a few months ago that exciting work on Starfield is still on-going but no new content or major overhauls have been officially announced.

KitGuru Says: Starfield in its current state isn't a particularly exciting product, but a true Starfield 2.0 would be a big deal for the game on all platforms.

AMD has officially filled out the lower end of its RDNA 4 product stack with the launch of the Radeon RX 9060. As expected, this new non-XT model is a scaled-down version of the RX 9060 XT, designed to target 1080p gaming and compete primarily in the system integrator and OEM market.

The Radeon RX 9060 is based on the same “Navi 44” GPU as its XT sibling, but with a few cuts to hit a lower performance tier, and therefore, also reduce power consumption (132W TBP). The core count has been trimmed by roughly 12.5%, and while it retains an 8 GB GDDR6 memory configuration, the memory clock has been reduced from the XT's 20 Gbps down to 18 Gbps. This results in about 10% less memory bandwidth, cementing the card's position as a 1080p solution.

Alongside the specs, AMD also published some performance numbers for the new graphics card running various games at 1080p with Ultra settings. These can be found below:

• Call of Duty: Black Ops 6: 98 FPS
• DOOM Eternal (RT): 153 FPS
• Dragon Age: The Veilguard: 67 FPS
• F1 24: 188 FPS
• Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered: 106 FPS
• God of War: Ragnarok: 120 FPS
• Resident Evil 4 (RT): 100 FPS

AMD is positioning the RX 9060 as its direct competitor to Nvidia's GeForce RTX 5050, a card that has also been mostly relegated to pre-built systems and has not been particularly popular in the DIY market. Even so, it's likely some cards will eventually find their way to retail shelves.

The Radeon RX 9060 has now been officially detailed on AMD's website and is supported by the latest graphics driver released today. While it's a somewhat mild launch for PC builders, it's a necessary product for AMD to compete with Nvidia in the high-volume, budget pre-built gaming PC market.
