AMD expands Ryzen Z2 lineup with Z2 Extreme and Z2A APUs

9 juin 2025 à 18:00

AMD officially announced two new additions to its Ryzen Z2 line of APUs: the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme and the Ryzen Z2A. These are the same two APUs used in the recently announced Asus ROG Xbox Ally systems.

The Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme is an upgraded version of the Z2 Extreme, aimed at high-end handhelds. The “AI” designation signifies that its NPU (Neural Processing Unit) will be enabled, a part previously deactivated in the original Ryzen Z1 series. This NPU is based on the XDNA2 processor, and its activation is expected to be beneficial as AI integration in gaming becomes more prevalent. Other specifications for the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme remain consistent with its predecessor, featuring an 8C/16T Zen5 CPU (out of 12 available cores), 16 RDNA 3.5CUs for its iGPU (Radeon 890M), 15-35W cTDP and LPDDR5x-8000 memory support.

Concurrently, AMD confirmed the Ryzen Z2A. This APU features four Zen2 CPU cores with eight threads and an 8-CU RDNA2 iGPU. Unlike other Ryzen Z2 processors, the Z2A will have a reduced TDP of 6-20W. Also worth noting is that memory support is limited to LPDDR5-6400. AMD states that the Ryzen Z2A is designed to target long-lasting mobile PC gaming.

The first systems to feature these new APUs are the Asus ROG Xbox Ally X, which will use the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme, and the ROG Xbox Ally, which will be powered by the Ryzen Z2A.

KitGuru says: These APUs are currently only announced to be used in the Asus ROG Xbox Ally handhelds, but they aren't exclusive, so we should see more handhelds powered by these chips over the next year.

MSI Afterburner update will introduce support for AMD RX 9000 graphics cards

9 juin 2025 à 17:15

MSI Afterburner has long been a popular overclocking tool for PC enthusiasts. Currently, the software lacks support for AMD's latest generation RX 9000 series graphics cards, but that is set to change with an upcoming update.

Usually, the development of Afterburner's compatibility with new hardware hinges on MSI providing sample graphics cards to Unwinder (via VideoCardz). However, with MSI not currently producing RX 9000 series cards, the developer had no samples to work with to enable support for AMD's current-generation offerings.

Despite this, strong public demand for RDNA 4 compatibility and a clear desire to uphold Afterburner's reputation as a valuable cross-vendor utility ultimately prompted Unwinder to act independently. The developer reportedly purchased a PowerColor RX 9070 XT card to develop the software needed to update MSI Afterburner. This ensures that users will see support for RX 9070 XT cards in future versions of MSI Afterburner, maintaining the tool's broad appeal and functionality across AMD and Nvidia platforms.

While you wait for the MSI Afterburner update, AMD Software should be able to fulfil your monitoring and overclocking needs.

KitGuru says: Do you have an AMD RX 9000 graphics card? What GPU monitoring and overclocking utility have you been using on your system?

Anno 117: Pax Romana revealed for November release

9 juin 2025 à 16:30

Ubisoft has officially announced Anno 117: Pax Romana, the next chapter in the long-running city-building strategy series. Gamers can mark their calendars for November 13th, when the game will drop for PC, PS5 and Xbox. To celebrate the announcement, a brand-new cinematic trailer has been released.

Anno 117: Pax Romana casts players as a Roman governor in 117 AD, granting them the power to shape the empire's future. The core premise revolves around fundamental choices that dictate your leadership style: will your influence expand through the peaceful avenues of commerce and agriculture, or will you opt for territorial gains through military might? The game challenges players to weigh the costs and benefits of peace against the allure of power, leaving the path of governance entirely in their hands.

As governor, you'll be tasked with building and nurturing your towns, navigating a narrative-rich adventure filled with branching decisions and multiple gameplay approaches. Players will venture into unexplored regions of the Roman Empire, tending to the two provinces under their stewardship: Latium and Albion. Each province will present its own opportunities and challenges, pushing players to strategise and expand their authority to capitalise on them. A central theme of Anno 117: Pax Romana is the profound impact of your decisions on your community. Your choices will directly influence your people's destiny during the era of Pax Romana.

While the launch date is set, Ubisoft has yet to disclose the game's PC system requirements. The game is now available to pre-order.

KitGuru says: Are you a fan of Anno games? Are you planning to pre-order Anno 117?

Hollow Knight Silksong to release before the 2025 Holiday season

9 juin 2025 à 16:00

Well over half a decade ago now, Hollow Knight Silksong was officially announced. Since then, fans have been eagerly anticipating the next game from Team Cherry. 6 years later and the game remains as elusive as ever. That said, we now have confirmation that Silksong is planned to launch some time this year – before the holiday season.

In the past few weeks there has been quite a bit of behind-the-scenes activity going on with Hollow Knight Silksong in the Steam back-end, leading many to believe some form of announcement was impending.

Sure enough, during the Xbox Game showcase, Microsoft officially showed off Silksong running on the company’s new partnered handheld the ROG Xbox Ally alongside confirmation that the title will be available by the time the system is released.

Hollow Knight Holiday

That said, no release date was given for the system, and so no release window was provided for Silksong. Fortunately, following the showcase, Team Cherry’s PR and Marketing manager ‘Matthew Griffin’ took to Discord to confirm that Silksong is “not tied to a console release” alongside the fact that the game is schedule to arrive sometime “BEFORE Holiday” 2025 – seemingly suggesting late Autumn as the furthest point.

Regardless, after half a decade of waiting, Hollow Knight Silksong is truly, finally almost upon us.

KitGuru says: What did you think of the Xbox Showcase? Were you expecting to see Hollow Knight Silksong? What month do you think the game will release? Let us know down below.

Super Meat Boy returns, this time in 3D

9 juin 2025 à 15:30

Super Meat Boy first released over 15 years ago and became an instant hit through the Xbox Live Arcade on Xbox 360. Now, the gore-filled platformer is making a grand return, this time in 3D.

Super Meat Boy 3D was officially announced last night during the Xbox Games Showcase. The original 2D platformer became a hit due to its tight controls, punishing difficulty and instant respawn system. Now, players get to run through the gauntlet once again, but this time in full 3D.

It is rare to see a 3D platformer with the same level of quality as a Super Mario game, but Super Meat Boy 3D looks to check all of the right boxes to achieve exactly that. Unlike the original game's 2D side-scrolling layout, the 3D version allows for more verticality and multi-layered levels, giving players multiple routes and enhancing replay value, especially for speed runners.

Sometimes the transition from 2D to 3D can be a tricky one to pull off as far as art is concerned, but the transition here looks as perfect as one could expect. For the first time in the series, players will also be challenged by new mini-bosses and large-scale battles, adding more complexity to the game overall.

Super Meat Boy 3D will be releasing in ‘early 2026' for PC, PS5 and Xbox. On the Xbox side of things, the game will be a day-one release for Game Pass.

KitGuru Says: Will you be picking up Super Meat Boy 3D when it drops next year?

MUDANG: Two Hearts is Splinter Cell meets F.E.A.R.

9 juin 2025 à 15:00

The Xbox Games Showcase had some fantastic surprises. From the hefty gameplay reveal for Clockwork Revolution, to the return of an indie classic in Super Meat Boy 3D. One of the best trailers of the show is not being talked about enough though, as MUDANG: Two Hearts looks to offer the best of Splinter Cell and F.E.A.R. in one package.

MUDANG: Two Hearts is a new game from South Korean game developer, EVR Studios. The first trailer for the game dropped last night, promising high-octane stealth action, with supernatural thriller elements:

The game is set in a near-future version of South Korea, in a time where the North and South are about to unite once again. On the day of this historic reunification, a terrorist group attacks and sends the nation into chaos.

The gameplay trailer showcases clear inspiration from the great stealth games of the past, like Splinter Cell. The inspiration is so clear to me that I'm not really sure what else to say about it. This main character quite literally looks like South Korean Sam Fisher with the tactical gear, wall climbing, tunnel crawling and silent pistols. The supernatural thriller elements add in a dash of F.E.A.R. flavour for good measure.

MUDANG: Two Hearts is due to release in 2026 for Xbox, PC and PS5. The game will also be streamable via Xbox Cloud, and presumably other services too, but we won't get confirmation on that until closer to launch.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: It is about time some new developers swooped in to fill the massive Splinter Cell-shaped hole in the gaming market.

The Rogue Prince of Persia to leave Early Access this August

9 juin 2025 à 14:30

Almost exactly a year ago, Evil Empire (one of the teams behind Dead Cells) released The Rogue Prince of Persia in early access. Published by Ubisoft, this side-scrolling platforming rogue-lite has seen consistent updates in the months since, taking what was already an excellent game and making it even more fun. Now, one year on and countless improvements later, The Rogue Prince of Persia is finally leaving Early Access this August.

Making the announcement during the PC Gaming Show, Evil Empire released a new trailer alongside the confirmation that The Rogue Prince of Persia will officially hit version 1.0 sometime this upcoming August.

Taking to its Steam page, the team teased the content of this final 1.0 release, writing: “we need to finally finish the story, so we'll be adding an extra biome at the same stage as the Tower of Oblivion and the Temple, as well as a final biome and of course the big bad final boss – the infamous King Nogai – PLUS the ‘third act' of the story which has a true ending to discover and where you'll finally meet the Prince's father, the King of Persia. On top of that there'll be new enemies, weapons etc – the usual goodies!”

As mentioned, The Rogue Prince of Persia was already one of the most satisfying side-scrolling rogue-like metroidvanias around – before any updates were released. Since then, the game has only gone from strength to strength. It will be interesting to see what final touches the team at Evil Empire have in store for the game.

KitGuru says: What did you think of the PC Gaming Show? Have you checked out The Rogue Prince of Persia? Are you looking forward to the 1.0 release? Let us know down below.

The Blood of Dawnwalker trailer reveals 2026 launch for PC, PS5 and Xbox

9 juin 2025 à 14:00

A few years ago, a number of CD Projekt Red developers, including the director behind The Witcher 3, left the company to form a new studio, Rebel Wolves. At the start of this year, their first game was revealed to be The Blood of Dawnwalker. Last night during the Xbox Games Showcase, we finally got our first look at the game in action.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is the first new game from the former Witcher 3 developers at Rebel Wolves studio, also based in Poland. We already knew that this game would be an RPG, but more specifically, it is a dark fantasy RPG centred around vampires. Following a cinematic trailer released earlier in the year, we now have a full gameplay trailer:

The Blood of Dawnwalker may have had its gameplay reveal at the Xbox Games Showcase, but it is not a console exclusive. The game will also be coming to PS5, and PC. There is no firm release date yet, but it will be arriving sometime in 2026, assuming there are no delays down the line.

The game is developed in Unreal Engine 5. In the game, players will take on the role of Coen, a young man turned into a Dawnwalker, forever treading the line between the world of day and the realm of night. Using your skills and vampire powers, you'll face off against foes both supernatural and human.

KitGuru Says: This game is looking good so far. Hopefully we'll get some release date news in the not too distant future.

The Outer Worlds 2 will offer an optional 3rd-person mode

9 juin 2025 à 13:30

The Outer Worlds released back in 2019 to a solid amount of fanfare – with the Obsidian Entertainment-developed RPG featuring an interesting blend of Bethesda Game Studios-styled design alongside the choice-based freedom which titles such as Fallout New Vegas offered. The Outer Worlds 2 looks to be leaning further into the gameplay stylings of its contemporaries – with the game confirmed to offer both a first and 3rd-person perspective option.

During The Outer Wilds 2 showcase (following the conclusion of the Xbox Games presentation,) Obsidian Entertainment confirmed that the upcoming RPG is the biggest game they’ve worked on.

As part of this, the sequel is set to include the option to play in first-person (as was the case with the previous game) – while also offering a 3rd-person mode.

The Outer Worlds 3rd-person

Similar to a majority of titles which include the option, the first-person mode will likely be the primary way to play (considering shooters are often more satisfying in a FPP). That said, having more options is always welcome, and could lead to an influx of new players who prefer an alternative perspective on their games.

All that said, The Outer Worlds 2 still has a bit of an uphill climb, with the game confirmed to be the first $80 Microsoft title. It will be interesting to see what fans think of these changes when The Outer Worlds 2 arrives on the 29th of October.

KitGuru says: What do you think of The Outer Worlds 2? Does it look better than the first game? What do you think of the optional 3rd-person mode? Let us know down below.

COD 2025 revealed to be Black Ops 7

9 juin 2025 à 13:00

Microsoft closed out the Xbox Games Showcase with the reveal of this year's Call of Duty game. We're in for another year of Black Ops, with Black Ops 7. The hook for COD campaign fans is the return of David Mason, the main protagonist of Black Ops 2.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is set in the year 2035 and once again features David Mason as the team leader. The teaser trailer below sets the stage, but it is a cinematic trailer, so don't expect to see much gameplay until later on.

This trailer is described as the ‘initial teaser' for the game, so expect a staggered rollout of information, with new trailers and announcements in the months ahead, followed by a beta around August/September.

Black Ops 7 will launch later this year for PC, Xbox and PlayStation. Microsoft is still committed to bringing Call of Duty to the Nintendo Switch 2, but it is unclear if that will start with Black Ops 7, or if Activision will wait for COD 2026.

KitGuru Says: Do you prefer the current strategy of back-to-back sequels for COD's main timelines, or did you like it better when Black Ops and Modern Warfare would alternate each year?

Dune Awakening sees over 100k CCU during Advanced Access period

9 juin 2025 à 12:30

Back in 2022, Funcom officially announced Dune Awakening – an ambitious survival MMO set in the world created by Frank Herbert. Launching tomorrow on the 10th of June, those who paid for the game’s deluxe edition gained advanced access to the title on the 5th. Despite the rather hefty price tag, the Advance Access period is already massive – seeing well over 100,000 concurrent players on Steam.

Ahead of its official launch on the 10th of June, those who paid the not-so-insignificant price of £60 (compared to £40 for the standard edition) gained access to Dune Awakening on the 5th. Despite a 50% increase in price for relatively few benefits, the Advanced Access period for the MMO has been massive for Funcom.

Dune Awakening Advanced Access

According to SteamDB, Dune Awakening hit a peak concurrent player count of over 100k over Sunday evening – 117,087 CCU to be exact. While not quite the 200k concurrents seen during the beta/trial period, 117,000 concurrent users is massive when considering that an estimated 250,000-400,000 users paid 50% extra for less than a week of advanced access.

Given just how popular the game is already, it will be interesting to see what the Steam Charts look like when Dune Awakening goes live for the rest of us.

KitGuru says: Are you excited for Dune Awakening? Have you paid extra for Advanced Access to any games? How many concurrent users do you think there will be on its launch day? Let us know down below.

Ninja Gaiden 4 shaping up to be the best action game of the year

9 juin 2025 à 12:00

The Xbox Games Showcase last night had some excellent trailers for first-party games like Clockwork Revolution and The Outer Worlds 2. However, there was one third-party game that stuck in my mind in the hours after the showcase- Ninja Gaiden 4.

Ninja Gaiden 4 is coming to Xbox, PC and PS5 later this year and is set to be a day-one Game Pass title. The new trailer for the game dropped last night, and it looks like it could be one of the most fun action games in years.

Ninja Gaiden 4 is described by publisher Koei Tecmo as the “definitive ninja action-adventure”. Based on this trailer, I'm inclined to agree with that sentiment, with a high-octane blend of stylish moves and numerous weapons at your disposal.

Ninja Gaiden 4 is the first mainline game in the series since 2012, so this has been a long time coming. The new game offers a number of key improvements, including new stealth mechanics, multi-weapon combos, destructible environments, new finishing moves and more.

Ninja Gaiden 4 will release on the 21st of October 2025.

KitGuru Says: This game looks like a lot of fun, and it is great to see Team Ninja bringing PlatinumGames into the fold to improve the action even further. Will you be picking this one up?

Squanch Games announces High on Life 2 for Xbox, PC and PS5

9 juin 2025 à 11:06

One of the best Game Pass titles of 2022 ended up being a brand new IP from Squanch Games – High on Life. Now several years later, a sequel has been announced, and it will be releasing later this year.

High on Life 2 has been announced for 2025. Assuming there are no delays, the game should drop around the holiday season and just like the first game, it will be a day-one title for Game Pass.

The trailer promises a bigger sequel, with more whacky and zany characters, with humour that will fit right at home for the Rick and Morty crowd.

The big addition to the game this time around is the ability to skateboard, so you can quickly zoom around levels, jumping platforms and grinding rails along the way.

While the game was announced during the Xbox Games Showcase, it will not be an Xbox console exclusive. The game has already been confirmed for PC, Xbox and PS5. With the Switch 2 now out, there is potential for the game to head to Nintendo's platform as well, but nothing has been confirmed on that front yet.

KitGuru Says: Did you enjoy High on Life? Will you be jumping back in for the sequel later this year?

Phil Spencer teases Forza, Gears, Fable and more for Xbox 25th Anniversary

9 juin 2025 à 10:57

Towards the end of the Xbox Games Showcase last night, Phil Spencer took to the stage to tease the upcoming 25th Anniversary. Next year will have been 25 years since the Xbox first released and the company has been stockpiling games for its major IP for the occasion.

Next year as part of the Xbox 25th Anniversary celebration, Spencer has confirmed that we'll be getting Fable, Gears E-Day and Fable, but he also teased the “return of a classic” that has been on Xbox since the beginning.

As Forza Motorsport just launched last year, we'd expect to see Forza Horizon in 2026, although Playground Games has also been quite busy with Fable, its first crack at an RPG game.

As for the mysterious ‘return of a classic', my mind quickly goes to Halo. It has been four years since the release of Halo Infinite, and we've heard very little about the future of the franchise ever since.

KitGuru Says: Do you think we'll get a new Halo next year? Or is Spencer talking about a different Xbox classic?

Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Final Fantasy 16 are finally coming to Xbox

8 juin 2025 à 20:24

For years, we've been hearing rumours that Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be coming to Xbox. Today during the Xbox Games Showcase, Square Enix finally made the announcement and its not just Final Fantasy 7 Remake making the jump over to Xbox, Final Fantasy 16 is coming along too.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake first released on PS4 back in 2018 and its PlayStation timed exclusivity was extended in 2020 with the game's release on PS5. The game landed on PC in 2021, and is now also available on Nintendo Switch 2 as of this week. Today, the game was also announced Xbox Series X/S consoles for the first time, with plans to release this winter:

On top of Final Fantasy 7 Remake, the latest mainline game in the franchise, Final Fantasy 16, is also releasing on Xbox today:

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has not yet been confirmed for Xbox, but we expect that to change in the coming months. Both Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Final Fantasy 16 failed to meet Square Enix's sales expectations as a PS5 exclusive, forcing the publisher to restructure itself for multiplatform development. Moving forward, Square Enix will be bringing its biggest games to multiple console platforms and PC at launch.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru Says: Both titles are also available through the Xbox PC app. A growing theme in the Xbox Games Showcase has been the number of third-party developers bringing their games to the Xbox PC store, and with initiatives like Play Anywhere in place, Microsoft will be looking to steal some market share from the likes of Steam and the Epic Games Store.

Skybound Games is releasing its first Invincible game

8 juin 2025 à 20:12

Skybound Games made a surprise appearance during the Xbox Games Showcase. The hit comic book series, Invincible, is getting a new adaptation. Following the success of the comics and Amazon Prime's animated series, now we are getting an Invincible game for the first time.

Invincible VS is coming to PC, Xbox and PS5. As the VS in the name implies, this is a fighting game, offering fans the chance to pick their favourite characters to duke it out.

The game was developed in-house by Skybound Games' fighting-focused studio, Quarter Up. The gameplay is reminiscent of the classic fighting game staples that came before it. However, in Invincible VS, we'll be getting 3v3 tag team battles, so you'll have plenty of back-up to call in if Omni Man beats you down too hard.

There is no specific release date yet, but the game is due out sometime in 2026.

Persona 4 Revival is coming to PC and Xbox

8 juin 2025 à 20:04

Just as the leaks predicted, Persona 4 Remake did appear at the Xbox Games Showcase this evening. The game is being rebuilt in the same fashion as Persona 3 Reload, under the official title ‘Persona 4 Revival'.

Unfortunately, the trailer for Persona 4 Revival was incredibly short, giving us just a short clip of the main character running down a Japanese street. Graphically, the game looks to be improved, but there is really only so much we can gleam from the 10-second gameplay clip.

So far, the game has been announced for Xbox Series X/S and PC, but just like Persona 3 Reload, it should also release on Nintendo Switch and PS5 at the same time.

There is no release date yet, but store listings for the game have gone live, so we should see pre-orders open up later in the year.

Clockwork Revolution steals the show at Xbox Games Showcase

8 juin 2025 à 19:40

InXile is shaping up to be one of Xbox's most exciting first-party studios. Following the initial reveal of Clockwork Revolution a couple of years ago, today we got a full gameplay trailer showcasing an incredibly deep action-RPG with time manipulation elements.

In Clockwork Revolution, we'll be playing as Morgan Vanette, a customizable player-character and member of the Rotten Row Hooligans gang, who discovers that the world they live in has been altered by the enigmatic Lady Ironwood. She’s unnaturally manipulated history through her use of time travel to bring herself immense power and wealth, while keeping the working class under heel. After discovering her method of traveling into the past, you’re thrust into an adventure across time to turn back the clock, and right Ironwood’s wrongs—however you see fit.

In a subsequent interview published on the Xbox website, InXile founder, Brian Fargo and a few other key members of the development team shared some more details on the game. The studio promises one of the most reactive game worlds ever made, with enough player agency to keep players coming back again and again to see all of the different possible outcomes.

Clockwork Revolution is available to wishlist now but does not yet have a release date. It will be one of the first games to release under Microsoft's new Play Anywhere initiative, meaning that moving forward, every first-party Xbox game will be ‘Play Anywhere' meaning you get access on Xbox and PC at no extra cost. I'm not sure why they weren't doing this already but better late than never.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: The Order of Giants expansion announced

8 juin 2025 à 19:27

Machine Games surprised us all with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle last year. The game ended up being one of the best of 2024 and is one of the most graphically impressive current-gen titles to date. We always knew that an expansion would be coming, but now we finally have our first look at it.

The new DLC will have players exploring the crypts beneath Rome to find a secret relic. The DLC will expand more on the giants seen in the base game, and the secret cult that worships them.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle: Order of Giants is releasing on September 4th for all platforms, including Xbox, PC and PS5. As a reminder, if you bought the Premium Edition of the game, you'll get the expansion for free without having to pay any extra. The same goes for those who purchased the Collector's Edition of the game. We do not know how much the expansion will cost as a standalone purchase for those who bought the standard edition game.

Microsoft unveils ROG Xbox Ally X handheld with Ryzen Z2 Extreme APU

8 juin 2025 à 19:16

A small portion of the Xbox Games Showcase was dedicated to hardware. During the showcase, Microsoft officially revealed its new collaboration with Asus ROG, resulting in a new Xbox-themed ROG Ally gaming handheld.

The ROG Xbox Ally X is arriving this holiday season. It is a new take on the ROG Ally, with a redesigned control scheme that takes more inspiration from the standard Xbox controllers we're all used to. That means proper handles for the device, dedicated buttons to activate new gaming UI elements coming to Windows 11, and the ability to hold the Xbox button to swap apps, so you can easily transition from the Xbox app to Steam to Battle.net without needing to rely on the desktop Windows UI.

The ROG Xbox Ally X is powered by a Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor. These new APUs were announced back in January, featuring up to 8 cores and 16 threads, with a max boost speed of 5GHz, along with up to 16 GPU cores for graphics. The APU will be more than capable of running AAA titles, and with an up to 35W TDP, users should expect higher performance than lower-power devices like the Steam Deck.

There is no price tag announced yet, but we expect more details on the launch plans for this very soon.

The Outer Worlds 2 gets new story trailer and new gameplay footage

8 juin 2025 à 19:06

Tonight, during the Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft opened up the show with a new trailer for The Outer Worlds 2. The trailer is made up entirely of in-game footage, giving us a good look at what to expect from the final product later in the year.

While this is a story-focused trailer, it features all in-game footage, so everything you see will be in the final game. Aunt Cleo is the main narrator in the trailer, teasing a quest to close mysterious rifts popping up on colonised planets throughout the system.

The Outer Worlds 2 will get an even longer gameplay showcase later this evening, so we'll be getting plenty more details soon. The game is set to release on the 29th of October for PC, Xbox and PS5. The game will also be a day-one title for Game Pass.

KitGuru Says: Are you looking forward to The Outer Worlds 2? As a fan of the first game, this trailer didn't really show enough to excite me for the sequel, but maybe that will change during the gameplay showcase later this evening.

Lian Li introduces entry-level Uni Fan CL Wireless

8 juin 2025 à 11:00

Lian Li has just introduced the Uni Fan CL Wireless, a compelling new fan series aimed squarely at PC builders seeking a harmonious blend of wireless convenience, RGB lighting, and decent performance without breaking the bank.

Designed as an economical alternative within Lian Li's expansive fan ecosystem, the CL Wireless has two independently controllable lighting zones: side strips and fan blades. Users can fine-tune these effects, synchronise colours, and craft patterns across each zone via L-Connect 3 software, offering creative freedom for themed builds. These fans share their design lineage with those found on the Hydroshift II LCD-C 360CL, ensuring a consistent aesthetic for those looking to expand their cooling configurations.

Beyond its visual appeal, the Uni Fan CL Wireless is engineered for serious thermal management. Its 28mm thick frame balances airflow and static pressure, making it equally adept for air and water cooling setups. Operating within a speed range of 200 to 2150 RPM, the CL Wireless can push up to 77.34 CFM of airflow and generate a static pressure of 2.52 mmH2O. Despite its cooling capabilities, the fan maintains a quiet operation at 29.8 dB(A).

The CL Wireless series promises to minimise cable clutter using the L-Wireless Sync 2.4 GHz technology. Providing wireless control over ARGB lighting and fan speeds, it eliminates the need for a central hub. The receiver features an updated 4-pin connection, ensuring that the fans are automatically recognised as PWM devices directly within the BIOS. Furthermore, a built-in tail PWM cable is integrated for situations requiring additional power. The Uni Fan CL Wireless is available in black or white, and builders can choose between conventional or reverse airflow models. These fans are available to pre-order for $16.99 for a single unit and $54.99 for a three-pack with a controller.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru says: Compared to most Lian Li Wireless fans, these are considerably cheaper, even if not as visually striking. Still, these could be a decent option if you want to reduce the cable clutter on your build.

Asus unveils the new aquarium-like Prime AP202 PC case

8 juin 2025 à 10:00

Asus has introduced the Prime AP202 mATX computer case, a new enclosure that promises to offer pleasing aesthetics with good thermal performance. Designed to appeal to a broad spectrum of PC builders, whether crafting a high-end gaming rig, a robust workstation, or a versatile general-purpose system, the AP202 aims to meet diverse demands with a visually captivating design.

The Prime AP202 immediately catches the eye with its panoramic curved tempered glass panel, which extends nearly halfway around the chassis, offering an unobstructed view of the internal hardware. Its minimalistic aesthetic ensures that the focus remains on the components within, while available black and white finishes allow users to select the perfect complement for their build's colour scheme. Asus has ensured durability by heat-treating the tempered glass for enhanced strength, and thoughtful design features like an easy-detach rail and anti-drop mechanism make removal and reattachment a straightforward and secure process.

For added convenience, the Prime AP202 is offered in two variations. The base model arrives without pre-installed fans, while the ARGB variant has three MR120 ARGB fans. These fans will also be available for individual purchase. Both case variants feature a lengthy, fully customisable LED light strip along the bottom, providing ambient accent lighting. All lighting settings can be managed through the Armoury Crate app.

A distinctive slot-shaped vent beneath the side panel directs airflow directly to the graphics card. Furthermore, the case accommodates 360mm radiators on the top, graphics cards up to 420mm long, PSUs up to 200mm long, and 2x 2.5/3.5-inch drives. Complementing this, top and bottom removable dust filters help maintain a clean interior.

The Prime AP202 also boasts a suite of user-friendly optimisations to streamline the building process. The easy-detach rail system provides quick access to internals, while a generous 30 mm-wide compartment simplifies cable management. A single front I/O panel header simplifies motherboard installation, and the panel itself includes a USB-C 20 Gbps connector, two USB-A 5 Gbps ports, and a headphone/microphone jack.

Nvidia leads Q1 2025 GPU AIB market share with over 90%

8 juin 2025 à 10:33

Nvidia has achieved an unprecedented level of dominance in the add-in board (AIB) GPU market, capturing a staggering 92% share in the first quarter of 2025.

According to the latest figures from Jon Peddie Research (via Wccftech), this represents a significant 8.5 percentage point increase for team green over their previous standing. In contrast, AMD's share plummeted to a mere 8%, a decrease of 7.3 points, while Intel's presence in the discrete GPU market virtually evaporated, registering a 0% share after losing 1.2 points.

Despite a broader decline in desktop CPU shipments, which fell to 17.8 million units, AIB shipments reached 9.2 million in Q1 2025. Looking ahead, JPR forecasts a compound annual reduction of 10.3% in the AIB market from 2024 to 2028, though the installed base of discrete GPUs is still expected to reach 130 million units by the end of this period. By 2028, 86% of desktop computers are forecast to have a dedicated graphics card.

Nvidia's commanding performance this quarter is primarily attributed to the launch of its RTX 50 series GPUs. Conversely, AMD's RDNA 4 GPUs, while introduced in Q1 2025, arrived much later in the quarter (March 6th), hindering their immediate market impact. Meanwhile, Intel's Battlemage Arc GPUs, launched in Q4 2024 with models like the B580 and B570, which have struggled to gain traction according to this market share analysis. This lack of momentum is likely due to restricted availability and subdued demand in the broader market.

The overall PC GPU market, encompassing integrated solutions, saw a 12% contraction from the previous quarter, with 68.8 million units shipped. Desktop graphics unit sales dropped by 16%, and laptop GPUs experienced a 10% decline. Across this broader landscape, Nvidia's total GPU share expanded by 3.6 points, while AMD's fell by 1.6 points and Intel's by 2.1 points. In a contrasting trend, data centre GPUs defied the general downturn, growing by 9.6% as continued investment in AI applications drives demand in that sector. Notebook processors accounted for 71% of overall GPU shipments in Q1 2025, with desktop GPUs making up the remaining 29%.

Mina the Hollower from Yacht Club games launches this Halloween

8 juin 2025 à 10:28

Back in 2022, the team at Yacht Club Games officially announced Mina The Hollower, their first new IP since the highly successful Shovel Knight. While fans have been eagerly awaiting this title since, an official release date has now been revealed – set to launch this Halloween.

Announced during Geoff Keighley’s Summer Game Fest Kick-Off, Mina the Hollower is officially launching on the 31st of October 2025

Perhaps even more exciting is the fact that a demo for the Link’s Awakening-inspired and GBC-styled action-adventure title is available right now; with progress carrying over to the full game.

For the uninitiated, Mina The Hollower is an isometric action-adventure title similar to the handheld Zelda games in which you “Take control of Mina, a renowned Hollower hurtled into a desperate mission to rescue a cursed island. Whip foes, burrow through the ground, and explore a pixel-perfect world.”

Hatsune Miku, Minecraft Steve and more coming to Sonic Racing Crossworlds

8 juin 2025 à 10:27

Late last year, SEGA officially announced Sonic Racing Crossworlds – the next entry in the publisher’s kart racing series. As is in the name itself, Crossworlds is set to have its worlds collide, with characters from different franchises all competing together. As part of Summer Game Fest, SEGA announced just some of these surprise characters – including Hatsune Miku, Minecraft Steve and more.

Announced at Summer Game Fest, Sonic Racing Crossworlds is reaching outside of the Sonic IP, with the team confirming that the upcoming racer will feature global vocaloid pop star Katsune Miku; Joker from Persona 5; Steve From Minecraft and Ichiban from Like a Dragon.

Interestingly, two other characters leaked ahead of SGF, the TMNT and SpongeBob SquarePants – though they have yet to be officially announced.

Finally, in an expected yet welcome announcement, SEGA confirmed that Sonic Racing Crossworlds will include full crossplay support from launch; which should hopefully keep the game populated for years to come.

Sonic Racing Crossworlds comes to all platforms on the 25th of September.

KitGuru says: What did you think of the SGF showcase? Are you looking forward to Sonic Racing Crossworlds? What other characters do you hope to see added? Let us know down below.

RGG Studio unveils Project Century as ‘Stranger Than Heaven’

8 juin 2025 à 09:00

First teased back during last year’s The Game Awards, Ryu Ga Gotoku (RGG) studio – known best for their work on the Like a Dragon (Yakuza) series – unveiled Project Century: a brand new IP from the team. 6 months on and we’ve now gotten our first proper look at the game, including an official title: Stranger Than Heaven.

Releasing an interesting and atmospheric trailer, RGG Studio gave fans their first proper look at Stranger Than Heaven – “a brand-new title developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio, known for creating acclaimed series such as Yakuza, Like a Dragon and Virtua Fighter.”

Set in 1943, the game appears to feature many of the familiar design principles of RGG Studio’s other offerings, including an explorable region, satisfying-looking combat and more.

That said, Stranger Than Heaven looks to include a greater amount of choice when it comes to the story, putting the fate of certain characters into the hands of players.

RGG Studio has proven itself to be able to consistently and rather rapidly release new and interesting games without sacrificing on quality.

While Stranger than Heaven is still likely quite a ways away, it appears to be yet another exciting and entertaining title from RGG Studio.

KitGuru says: What did you think of SGF? Are you excited for Stranger Than Heaven? What’s your favourite IP from the studio at this point? Let us know down below.

Quest exclusive Marvel’s Deadpool VR officially announced

7 juin 2025 à 05:00

One of the most surprising announcements from this year’s Summer Game Fest Kick-Off was the reveal of Marvel’s Deadpool VR – a Meta Quest exclusive first-person parkour shooter which of course goes all-in on the crass and 4th-wall-breaking humour which the merc with a mouth is known for.

Launching some time in late 2025, Marvel’s Deadpool VR is a movement-focused shooter in which “After being pulled through a portal to Mojoworld, Deadpool sees a chance to get rich—like really rich. He signs a sketchy contract without reading any of the fine print and then it’s off to visit a bunch of locations from across the Marvel Universe, battling against iconic (and not-so-iconic) villains.”

The Quest exclusive game is said to include “the franchise’s unique blend of parkour and combat,” claiming that “If you can imagine it, you can probably do it. Sure, you can simply stab or shoot your enemies, but where’s the fun in that? Punch someone while holding a grenade? Check. Take your recently exploded-off arm and throw it at the bad guys? Gross, but also check. The limit does not exist!”

Interestingly, unlike the previous Deadpool game (voiced by Nolan North), or the Deadpool films (Ryan Reynolds), Marvel’s Deadpool VR features the voicing talents of Neil Patrick Harris.

Since the rise of VR, we’ve seen quite a few comedy-focused VR titles – many of which have succeeded greatly. Hopefully Deadpool VR proves to be the perfect blend of fun and funny.

KitGuru says: What did you think of Summer Game Fest Kick-off? Were you surprised by the announcement? What do you think of Neil Patrick Harris’ Deadpool impression? Let us know down below.

Resident Evil Requiem officially announced alongside release date

7 juin 2025 à 02:58

Over the past few weeks we’d been hearing an increasing number of leaks and rumours surrounding the next mainline Resident Evil game. Despite a fake out earlier in the show, RE9: Requiem was officially announced during the Summer Game Fest Kick-off Showcase.

As with most of the more recent RE titles, Resident Evil Requiem was announced through a somewhat deceptive trailer – saving all of the RE goodness for its second half. In a similar vein, Capcom’s Jun Takeuchi appeared earlier in the show asking fans to “bear with us a little longer, just a blink of an eye more and it’ll be ready.”

Sure enough, cut to the final announcement and Resident Evil Re[9]uiem was officially revealed: “the highly anticipated ninth title in the mainline Resident Evil series” in which you’ll have to “Prepare to escape death in a heart-stopping experience that will chill you to your core.”

Resident Evil Requiem arrives early next year on the 27th of February 2026 – coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam.

Black Myth Wukong is finally coming to Xbox – a full year after PS5 release

6 juin 2025 à 18:00

Black Myth Wukong had a very odd release. While the game was originally announced to release on both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, the game ultimately only released on PlayStation consoles. Microsoft said there was an exclusivity agreement in place, the studio behind Black Myth Wukong denied that was the case. However, it certainly looks like Game Science wasn't being very truthful.

Black Myth Wukong is now launching on Xbox Series X/S consoles on August 20th, a full year after the game's release on PC and PS5. While Game Science has previously denied any exclusivity deal being in place, the timing of this Xbox release date, arriving exactly one year after the PS5 version, is in keeping with industry standards for timed exclusives.

Black Myth Wukong was one of the best action games of 2024, but there have been no major expansions or DLC updates this year and as a result, the game hasn't made many headlines in 2025. It is unclear how well the game will sell on Xbox a full year later without any extra content.

Game Science claims that bringing the game to Xbox Series X/S was “no easy feat”. In the past, CEO of the studio, Feng Ji, pointed to Xbox Series S memory limitations being the main hold-up.

KitGuru Says: I don't think we'll ever get the full story here, but it sure looks like some kind of timed exclusivity was in place.

CD Projekt Red teases Patch 2.3 for Cyberpunk 2077, bringing even more free content to the game

6 juin 2025 à 17:30

CD Projekt Red has said a few times that it has ‘moved on' from Cyberpunk 2077 but every few months, that turns out to be a lie. There is yet another new update coming for the game, and it is dropping later this month.

Now with Cyberpunk 2077 releasing as a launch-day title for the Nintendo Switch 2, CD Projekt Red has opted to put together another free content update for all players. Patch 2.3 is now due to release on June 26th, but the finer details of what will be included in the update remain shrouded in secrecy.

This news comes after recent rumours that CD Projekt Red had contracted Oblivion Remastered developer, Virtuos, to create some new content for the game. That rumour has yet to be confirmed, but at the very least, we are getting another free content patch.

There will be more official news on what will be included in Patch 2.3 in the coming weeks. Chances are, CD Projekt Red will hold another REDStream to go over the details, just as it did for previous updates like Patch 2.1 and Patch 2.2.

KitGuru Says: CD Projekt Red continues to surprise us. Hopefully there are a few new gigs in this update, as I'm itching for a reason to jump back into Cyberpunk 2077 for yet another playthrough.

Lies of P is getting a new expansion this weekend

6 juin 2025 à 17:00

Lies of P fans should pay attention over the weekend, as rumour has it that a secret new DLC for the game is due to drop.

Lies of P: Overture is a new DLC for the game. A trailer for it leaked this week, ahead of a likely reveal at Summer Game Fest. The trailer ends with the phrase ‘Available Now', indicating that the DLC will become available as soon as the trailer officially drops.

The expansion will be available for the game on all platforms, including PC, Xbox and PlayStation. It is unclear if the DLC will be announced during Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest showcase later this evening, or if it will drop during the Xbox Showcase later this weekend. One thing is for sure though, the DLC will be announced at one of them and will be made available to players immediately after.

The Overture DLC for Lies of P will take players to a new winter-themed environment. The DLC also serves as a prequel to the events of the main game.

Persona 4 Remake to be announced at Xbox Showcase

6 juin 2025 à 16:30

Following the successful launch of Persona 3 Reload last year, we began to hear rumours that SEGA/ATLUS was working on a similar remake for Persona 4. Further evidence popped up in March when the domain name P4RE.JP was registered. Now, the game looks set to be announced at the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase.

Back on the 20th of March, Twitter user ScrambledFaz discovered a registration for the domain name P4RE.JP, indicating that the rumoured Persona 4 remake could be gearing up for a possible announcement. Just last week, the story got juicier, as two voice actors from the original game confirmed that they have ‘no involvement' in the yet-to-be-announced remake.

Persona 4 Remake

In another update to this ongoing story, MP1st, the site that leaked The Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered earlier this year, reported that the game is set to be announced during the Xbox Games Showcase this week. While Xbox has a marketing deal in place for the game, it will not be an exclusive, so it should hit Xbox, PC and PS5 simultaneously.

In the many years since the initial launch of Persona 5, ATLUS/SEGA have released a ton of different titles and spin-offs, including Persona 5 Royal; Persona 3 Reload; Persona 4 Golden remaster; P5 Strikers; Tactica and Dancing in Starlight – to name a few.

Assuming they maintain their previous release strategies, then the rumoured Persona 4 remake should release around September-October, or in early 2026 (before March).

Nvidia RTX 5050 rumoured for July launch

6 juin 2025 à 15:30

Just as the dust begins to settle from the recent launches of the GeForce RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7 and Radeon RX 9060 XT series graphics cards, it appears Nvidia is already preparing its next launch. The long-rumoured GeForce RTX 5050 8GB graphics card is now anticipated to debut as soon as July.

Videocardz has reported Nvidia's intentions for a July release of the GeForce RTX 5050 8GB GDDR6 desktop card. This upcoming addition to the GeForce family will harness the Blackwell GPU architecture, specifically utilising the GB207 chip. Interestingly, this desktop variant was initially confirmed to feature GDDR6 memory, distinguishing it from its laptop counterpart, which is already known to employ GDDR7.

However, a recent twist in the rumour mill suggests a potential change. Benchleaks indicate that the desktop RTX 5050 might have GDDR7 memory, mirroring the laptop version. While for this segment of graphics cards, the performance difference between GDDR6 and GDDR7 wouldn't be particularly significant, the reason behind such a shift could be more strategic. With AMD having already claimed a substantial portion of the market's 20Gbps GDDR6 capacity and Intel Arc also vying for a slice, a potential surge in demand for the GeForce RTX 5050 could lead to a scarcity of GDDR6 memory modules.

In addition, it has also been reported that the GeForce RTX 5050 graphics card, with its 8GB of memory, is expected to operate with an estimated Total Graphics Power (TGP) of 130W.

KitGuru says: How do you think the RTX 5050 desktop graphics card will compare to the RTX 5060 and its Radeon RX 9000 series counterparts?

  • Dordogne
  • Hypnospace Outlaw
  • Isonozo
  • My Time at Sandrock
  • Keplerth

Builders eyeing powerful graphics cards will find ample space, with compatibility for GPUs up to 415mm in length. In addition, Lian Li included a GB-001 GPU anti-sag bracket to provide stable support for these larger cards.

The Vector V100 is available in both black and white finishes. Builders can choose between a barebones version or a pre-installed variant featuring four 120mm ARGB/PWM fans. The Vector V100 is now available for $59.99 for the fanless black and white models and $74.99 for the versions pre-equipped with fans.

KitGuru says: Considering the specs and price, the Vector V100 could be the new go-to entry-level PC case for those looking for a cheap aquarium-like build.

The core specs are confirmed in the following CPU-Z and GPU-Z screenshots:

Gaming performance is impressive at 1440p – particularly in titles such as F1 25 but more so in Cyberpunk 2077 at maximum settings. Performance at 4K is very title-dependant – again using Cyberpunk 2077 as an example, we can see below that the Ultra XT3D struggles to maintain high frame rates when playing this title without any form of scaling or frame generation. Turning these features on however, does dramatically increase performance, while still maintaining a decent level of fidelity when using FSR 3's Quality preset.

A selection of screenshots highlighting gaming performance are below, but for full details of all games tested, check out our full video review on YouTube.

Closing Thoughts

The Ultra XT3D desktop is very well balanced when looking at performance. The pairing of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D processor and Radeon RX 9070 XT graphics card deliver impressive performance at 1440p with maximum graphics settings. Performance does expectedly take a substantial hit when increasing the resolution to 4K, but this is easily remedied with the addition of FSR and frame generation. While I appreciate that frame generation does divide opinion, the performance recorded in this review does a good job of highlighting its use case and how it can benefit high resolution gaming, especially in single player titles such as Cyberpunk 2077.

It's clear that the build process of the Ultra XT3D has been carried out with a lot of care and attention to detail – cable management is excellent and pre-delivery configuration was perfect with EXPO being enabled out of the box and all required drivers being installed and mostly up to date.

Visually, the component selection feels just slightly mismatched. Both the memory and case include ARGB lighting, yet they’ve been paired with a non-RGB AIO CPU cooler. Opting for a consistent approach by either fully embracing RGB or going with a clean, blackout aesthetic might have resulted in a more cohesive look. We don't see many stealthy, non-RGB prebuilt systems and this could have been something that stood out in that regard.

Overall though, this is a great system and with a few tweaks could have been one of the best we've seen.

You can buy the Ultra XT3D desktop directly from CyberPowerPC for £1999.20 HERE.

Pros:

  • Great gaming performance at 1440p and good for 4K gaming (with FSR and FG in some titles).
  • Well balanced spec.
  • Excellent quality of build and cable management.
  • Very competitive pricing when compared to building the same spec.
  • No issues with setup or config out of the box.

Cons:

  • Memory, although not terrible, could have slightly tighter CL timings.
  • RGB balance is a little off with RGB memory and case but a non-RGB CPU cooler.

KitGuru says: The Ultra XT3D is an excellent prebuilt gaming desktop, which is priced very competitively when compared to building the same spec system.

PlayStation announces Project Defiant for PS5 and PC

6 juin 2025 à 14:30

Sony PlayStation has unveiled its first wireless fight stick codenamed “Project Defiant”. This new controller aims to empower fighting game enthusiasts with enhanced flexibility, offering wireless connectivity using the PlayStation Link technology and a traditional wired connection.

Project Defiant has been designed from the ground up specifically for fighting games, featuring a high-quality digital stick crafted by Sony PlayStation itself. Gamers will appreciate the toolless interchangeable restrictor gates (including square, round, and octagon options) for the stick, the buttons with mechanical switches, and even a touch pad akin to the familiar DualSense wireless controller. The controller incorporates a dedicated storage compartment for the restrictor gates and a PS Link USB converter for convenience and portability. Like DualSense controllers, Project Defiant will allow users to remotely wake up their PlayStation 5 with a press and hold of the PS button.

The new controller offers wireless connectivity using PlayStation Link technology. This proprietary wireless solution ensures ultra-low latency communication, which is critical for fighting games where every millisecond counts. Compatible with both PS5 and PC, PS Link ensures low response times to every button press and digital stick movement, allowing players to perfect their input timing. For those who prefer a traditional setup, a wired USB-C connection is also available for immediate plug-and-play functionality.

Project Defiant will have a carrying case to facilitate easy transport, thoughtfully designed with a lever gap to protect the digital stick during transit. Sony Interactive Entertainment has indicated that more information about Project Defiant will be revealed in the coming months, including its final product name and exact launch date (scheduled for 2026).

Deathloop is free on the Epic Games Store

6 juin 2025 à 13:45

Each week, the Epic Games Store gives away a title or two for free to all those with an Epic Games account. During the Summer period, the digital store has been offering some pretty big games – with this week’s titles including Arkane Lyon’s Deathloop.

Available to add to your library from now until the 12th of June at 4PM UK time, Deathloop is a stylish, fun and replayable stealth-focused immersive sim from Arkane Lyon – the team behind Dishonored and the upcoming Blade (but NOT Redfall).

A spiritual successor of sorts to Dishonored, Deathloop offers similar levels of creativity and freedom while twisting the formula with a rogue-lite styled gameplay loop; making for an excellent overall experience.

Ogu and the Secret Forest meanwhile is a hand-drawn 2D adventure game in which you’ll “Befriend bouncy characters and defeat strange creatures to unravel the mystery of the charming world.”

Both Deathloop and Ogu and the Secret Forest are available to claim right now – and will remain so until the 12th of June, at which point they will be replaced by the quirky strategy-sim game Two Point Hospital.

KitGuru says: What do you think of this week’s offerings? Did you enjoy Deathloop’s gameplay ‘loop’? Let us know down below.
