G.Skill issues warning on rising RAM prices due to AI demand

18 décembre 2025 à 17:44

In recent weeks, the prices of memory kits have surged to record heights, effectively ruining any plans consumers may have had for upgrading their machines in the near future. One of the most popular memory makers, G.Skill, has now offered a statement, acknowledging recent price hikes.

Here is G.Skill's statement in full:

“DRAM prices are experiencing significant industry-wide volatility, due to severe global supply constraints and shortages, driven by unprecedented high demand from the AI industry. As a result, G.SKILL procurement and sourcing costs have substantially increased. G.SKILL pricing reflect industry-wide component cost increases from IC suppliers and is subject to change without notice based on market conditions. Purchasers should be mindful of the pricing before purchasing.”

The warning confirms reports that AI companies are behind the shortage, as they are buying up the vast majority of supply on the market. Recently, Micron, one of the biggest memory suppliers in the world, killed off its consumer-facing brand, Crucial, in order to focus all of its efforts on serving enterprise customers. Recent reports indicate that SK Hynix, another one of the world's leading memory suppliers, is expecting shortages to last until at least 2028.

This is likely to have a major impact on the PC market in the coming year, impacting desktops, laptops, and other memory-equipped devices like smartphones and yes, graphics cards too.

KitGuru Says: PC enthusiasts have been through this before during the crypto-mining boom, which made sensibly-priced graphics cards impossible to come by for a long time. Now, rather than crypto-farms, we are contending with massive enterprises all looking to build the most powerful AI systems possible.

Tencent delists Light of Motiram as Sony Horizon lawsuit settled

18 décembre 2025 à 17:00

For months, Sony has been pushing ahead with its lawsuit against Tencent, claiming the company's game, Light of Motiram, infringes on its Horizon Zero Dawn IP. Now, the lawsuit has been settled, avoiding the need for a trial, and Light of Motiram has been removed from stores.

As spotted by The Game Post, new court documents reveal that Tencent and Sony have reached a settlement, the terms of which are confidential. However, we can clearly see that the game has disappeared from platforms like the Epic Games Store, indicating that delisting the game was indeed part of the agreement.

As the dispute has been settled, the lawsuit will now be dismissed. Crucially, it will be dismissed with prejudice, meaning it can't be re-filed in court again at a later date, putting the issue to rest for good.

Light of Motiram was intended to be a large-scale survival-crafting game with mechanical beasts and cooperative play. However, much of its world, characters and assets looked like they would have belonged right at home in the Horizon Zero Dawn or Forbidden West games. One of the core reasons Sony wanted the game taken down was the fact that it has its own multiplayer titles on the way set in the Horizon universe, including a mobile and PC MMO from NCSoft. It has also been reported that Guerrilla Games' next major release will be a multiplayer spin-off for PlayStation.

KitGuru Says: Do you think Sony was in the right here, or did you think Light of Motiram looked different enough from Horizon to now raise alarm bells?

AMD quietly lists low-power Radeon RX 9060 XT with 140W TDP

18 décembre 2025 à 16:30

AMD has updated its product lineup with a new entry-level SKU based on the RDNA 4 architecture. Dubbed the Radeon RX 9060 XT Low-Power, this new variant aims to deliver the same core specifications as the standard model while operating within a tighter thermal envelope.

The card was first found on AMD's China regional website (via ITHome) before appearing on the global domain. According to the official specifications, the primary differentiator for this “LP” model is a reduction in total board power. While the standard Radeon RX 9060 XT is rated at 160W, this new variant has been tuned down to 140W. Consequently, the recommended PSU requirement has dropped to a modest 450W, making it an attractive drop-in upgrade for pre-built systems with limited headroom.

Despite the reduction in power consumption, the silicon configuration appears untouched. The card uses a die featuring 29.7 billion transistors and retains the full 32 CUs and 2,048 stream processors found in its fully fledged sibling. The architectural breakdown includes 32 ray tracing accelerators and 64 AI accelerators, alongside 128 texture units and 64 ROPs. This suggests that, rather than cutting physical cores, AMD has likely applied more conservative clock-speed curves to meet the lower-power target. The card is equipped with 32 MB of AMD Infinity Cache and up to 16 GB of GDDR6 memory across a 128-bit bus, operating at up to 20 Gbps.

It is currently unclear whether this low-power variant will see a widespread retail release or remain exclusive to system integrators. Unlike high-end SKUs that face export restrictions, there is no regulatory reason to limit an entry-level GPU, reinforcing the theory that this is simply a specialized bin aimed at optimizing performance-per-watt for specific thermal environments.

KitGuru says: Shaving 20W off the TDP doesn't sound like much, but in the world of SFF builds and OEM power supplies, it can be the difference between a stable system and a shutdown. It will be interesting to see if this “LP” badge results in a tangible performance penalty in gaming.

GeForce Now adds Fallout New Vegas, For the King 2 and more

18 décembre 2025 à 15:01

The next round of games for GeForce Now has been announced. There are five new titles joining the cloud gaming library this week, including Obsidian's beloved Fallout game, New Vegas.

Fallout New Vegas is one of the big headliners this week, arriving on the GeForce Now servers at the same time as the premiere for Amazon's second season of the Fallout TV series. This is the only game in the series developed by Obsidian Entertainment, becoming loved by fans for the amount of agency granted to players while crafting their characters.

Here is the full list of new games joining GeForce Now today:

  • Pioner (New release on Steam, Dec. 16)
  • Fallout: New Vegas (Steam, Epic Games Store and Xbox, available on Game Pass)
  • For the King II (Steam)
  • Hogwarts Legacy (Steam, Epic Games Store (free until Dec. 18), and Xbox, available on Game Pass, GeForce RTX 5080-ready)
  • LEGO Harry Potter Collection (Steam)

On top of this, Nvidia has also migrated another big game over to the GeForce Now Ultimate RTX 5080-powered servers – Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, coinciding with the release of the latest film this week.

Theorycraft Games shutting down Supervive just five months after 1.0 launch

18 décembre 2025 à 14:30

The brutal reality of the live-service market has claimed another victim. Theorycraft Games, the studio founded by former ex-Riot Games developers, has announced that it will permanently close the servers for its debut title, Supervive, on February 25th, 2026. The decision comes less than half a year after the game officially left beta.

When Supervive was first unveiled in 2024, it carried significant expectations. The project was directed by industry veterans such as Joe Tung, a former executive VP at Riot Games, and promised to mix the strategic depth of a MOBA with the tension of a battle royale. However, despite a promising “open prototyping” phase and a 1.0 launch in July 2025, the game failed to maintain an audience.

In a FAQ released alongside the announcement, the development team explained that while they were proud of the mechanical systems they had built, the title could not hold player attention. Executive Producer Jenn Nam expanded on this, noting that while “a huge number” of users had downloaded and tried Supervive, the majority abandoned the game after only a short period. This left the studio with a low active user base. As seen on SteamDB, the concurrent player count has been peaking at 400, a figure that makes ongoing maintenance and server costs financially unviable.

Nam indicated that the studio will use this experience to change its development strategy moving forward. Future projects are expected to aim for a scope that falls “between independent and AAA,” suggesting a move away from the live-service model. The studio warned that it expects to “go dark” for an extended period while prototyping these new concepts.

For the remaining community, the end is now in sight. Supervive will remain playable until the servers go offline on February 25th, 2026. Theorycraft has disabled all real-money transactions effective immediately and is offering full refunds for any purchases made since September 16th. Although development has ceased, a final patch was deployed yesterday, introducing a new game mode, various bug fixes, and a final cosmetic bundle, which is being distributed to all players for free as a parting gift.

KitGuru says: The MOBA and Battle Royale markets are tough, and maintaining a live-service game with only a few hundred players is simply impossible. Hopefully, the team can learn from this experience and create a more sustainable project in the future.

Warner Bros. confirms Hogwarts Legacy has surpassed 40 million sales

18 décembre 2025 à 13:30

It has been nearly three years since Avalanche Software first invited players into its recreation of the Wizarding World, and the commercial momentum shows little sign of slowing down. Warner Bros. Games has officially confirmed today that Hogwarts Legacy has now crossed the 40 million unit sales milestone, cementing its place as one of the most successful RPGs of the current generation.

While the game launched to massive numbers on PC and current-gen consoles, its release strategy ensured it remained relevant for a long time. The initial wave was followed by last-gen ports for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in May 2023, with a Nintendo Switch version arriving later that year. Most recently, the title received an enhancement for the Nintendo Switch 2 in June 2025, introducing higher-fidelity assets and improved performance for the handheld successor. This streak of releases helped the game sell over 40 million copies, as the developer announced on X.

Developed under the Portkey Games label, Hogwarts Legacy succeeded by breaking away from the familiar narrative of the books and films. By setting the action in the 1800s and casting the player as a fifth-year student with no prior ties to the Potter timeline, Avalanche Software allowed for a degree of role-playing freedom that resonated with both hardcore fans and casual gamers. The decision to skip the “early years” of schooling in favour of immediate high-stakes combat and open-world exploration appears to have been a winning formula.

KitGuru says: Selling 40 million copies in under three years is a staggering achievement for a single-player, full-price release. Did you play the game?

The Rogue Prince of Persia confirmed to be getting new content in 2026

18 décembre 2025 à 16:00

The Rogue Prince of Persia is a highly slick and satisfying 2D side-scrolling rogue-like metroidvania from Evil Empire – the current team working on the equally-as-excellent Dead Cells. Initially arriving in Early Access back in 2024, the game saw its full 1.0 release last August alongside a console launch for both Xbox and PlayStation – most recently landing on the Nintendo Switch just a few days ago. The Prince’s journey will continue however, with the team confirming that The Rogue Prince of Persia will be getting a suite of post-launch updates throughout 2026.

Making the announcement on their Steam page, the team at Evil Empire spoke properly for the first time since the game’s launch back in August, writing:

“It's been a while, but we're back and do we have an early Christmas gift for you! Well, we don't have it for you right now, but we can tell you about it at least! We'll be coming back next year with post-launch content as free updates for The Rogue Prince of Persia.”

Rogue Prince of Persia

Unfortunately, we did not get any further details regarding what these updates will entail. Considering the fact that they used the term ‘updates’ however, fans should expect more than just a single drop of new content.

In looking back at the game’s roadmap during its Early Access period, there are plenty of avenues in which the team can head in to expand the game. We could see new enemies; skills; medallions; skins and weapons among countless other additions.

Of course, we will have to wait until next year to learn more, but it is exciting nonetheless to see that The Rogue Prince of Persia still has more to offer.

KitGuru says: Have you tried the game out? What do you think? How does it compare to Dead Cells? Let us know down below.

Turn 10 confirms Forza Motorsport won’t be getting any new content

18 décembre 2025 à 15:00

Forza Motorsport was one of the big first-party titles announced prior to the launch of the then-next-gen Xbox Series X|S. Said to be ‘built from the ground up’ the track racer launched in a disappointing state – with the team spending much of their time trying to bring Motorsport up to snuff. Major lay-offs at studio Turn 10 earlier this year led many to fear that future support had been cancelled. Though denied at the time, Microsoft has now confirmed that Forza Motorsport is turning off its engine.

Publishing a blog post titled ‘2025 Forza Year in Review’, the team at Turn 10 Studios offered a recap of the updates, additions and announcements from across the Forza series over the past 12 months.

By far the most interest part of the post however comes near the end, where-in the team discuss the ill-fated Forza Motorsport, writing: “As our team shifts its focus toward delivering the best possible experience with Forza Horizon 6 in 2026, we do not plan to introduce new cars, tracks, features, or regular bug fixes for Forza Motorsport.”

Forza Motorsport Turn 10

They continue, “However, we will continue supporting the game by keeping online servers active, hosting special events and competitions, and reintroducing previously released Featured Tours and reward cars on a monthly basis, until all content is available for you to enjoy anytime.”

Like many of Xbox’s early 9th-gen game announcements, 2023’s Forza Motorsport was intended to be a long-lasting experience receiving updates for years to come. Unfortunately, with a less-then-stellar launch and a slow rollout of notable improvements – coupled with the lay-offs earlier this year – the writing was on the wall for Forza Motorsport.

KitGuru says: Are you surprised by the announcement? Did you have high hopes for Motorsport prior to launch? Will the series be laid to rest in favour of Horizon? Let us know down below.

Indie hit Dispatch confirmed for Switch thanks to Nintendo eShop leak

18 décembre 2025 à 14:00

One of 2025’s biggest indie hits was Dispatch – an episodic superhero adventure title from developers who previously worked at Telltale Games and Night School Studio. Released in chunks, the game saw its final episode arrive just last month, amassing overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam and selling more than 2 million copies. Currently available only on PS5 and PC, a Nintendo Switch version has now been discovered; arriving early next year.

As discovered by ResetEra user –R, the highly-praised episodic superhero adventure game from AdHoc Studio ‘Dispatch’ appears set to land on Nintendo’s platform in a little over a month’s time.

Thanks to an early publishing on the Australian eShop, Dispatch has now been confirmed to be coming to the Switch and Switch 2 on the 29th of January 2026.

Dispatch Switch

Given the fact that the game is formatted somewhat like a visual novel, Dispatch on the OG Switch should be relatively comparable to all other versions. Still, for those with a Switch 2 the game offers a free upgrade pack which “includes enhanced resolution and improved frame rates.”

As mentioned, Dispatch is one of 2025's biggest indie hits, selling millions of copies, amassing a ton of online discourse and receiving multiple nominations from both The Game Awards and the BAFTAs. With the game ‘superhero-landing’ onto the Switch platform next month, it likely won’t be long before it passes another major milestone.

KitGuru says: Have you played Dispatch? What did you think? Is it one of your favourite games of 2025? Let us know down below.

The Division 1 gets surprise PS5 patch adding 60fps support

18 décembre 2025 à 13:00

Despite their many flaws, Ubisoft has been one of the strongest publishers during this current console generation – in one aspect at least. Following on from the likes of Far Cry 4; Assassin’s Creed Origins; Odyssey and more, The Division has now gotten a 60fps patch on PlayStation 5.

Taking to Twitter to make the surprise announcement, the official franchise page revealed that “The Division is now available on PlayStation 5 with enhanced performance at 60 FPS. This update brings smoother gameplay to the snow-covered streets of New York where it all began.”

While a welcome update to be sure, it is interesting to see Ubisoft patch what many would consider to be a dead game – especially with its sequel having been out for many years now and a 3rd entry said to be on its way.

Division 60fps

Still, if you did want to head back into the polluted streets of New York, now is as good a time as any. Though far from a comprehensive patch, unlocking the framerate on PS5 pairs nicely with the game’s previous PS4 Pro patch to make for a much cleaner experience overall.

As mentioned, this is far from Ubisoft’s first surprise 60fps patch, with multiple Assassin’s Creed titles including Odyssey, Origins and most recently Syndicate receiving updates years after release. Similarly, the Far Cry series has gotten 60fps patches stretching as far back as 2014’s Far Cry 4.

Though it would be nice to get a more comprehensive update for these games in order to take greater advantage of the added horsepower of current-gen consoles, even the addition of 60fps alone is highly welcome – especially if Sony’s rumoured PlayStation handheld turns out to be true.

KitGuru says: Would you consider returning to The Division 1? Why do you think they chose to update the game now? What other last-gen Ubisoft titles would you like to see patched? Let us know down below.

Jonsbo unveils D401 Black mid-tower with double tempered glass panels

17 décembre 2025 à 18:51

Jonsbo is expanding its chassis lineup with the release of the D401 Black, a mid-tower case that breaks away from traditional box aesthetics. Featuring an external frame finished in dark metallic grey, the case is designed to offer a balance of structural rigidity and open-air visual appeal for showcase builds.

Jonsbo has equipped the D401 (via Hermitage Akihabara) with large tempered glass panels on both the front and left side, providing a panoramic view of the hardware. While glass-heavy “aquarium” style cases often suffer from airflow restrictions, the D401 attempts to mitigate this with a right-side panel featuring dedicated venting, working in tandem with perforations across the top and bottom panels to create unobstructed channels for intake and exhaust.

Cooling support is substantial for a chassis of this class. The layout supports a variety of configurations, with up to three 120 mm fans on the side panel and either three 120 mm or two 140 mm fans on the top. Unusually for a standard mid-tower, the PSU shroud is also perforated to mount three additional 120 mm fans, feeding fresh air directly into the GPU. Regarding liquid-cooling compatibility, the case supports dual 360mm radiators simultaneously (top and side), making it a viable candidate for custom loops or high-end AIOs.

Internally, the D401 Black supports Mini-ITX to ATX motherboards, with seven rear expansion slots. Graphics card clearance is generous at 439 mm, while air cooler height is capped at 169 mm. The design also supports vertical GPU mounting, though builders will need a separate riser cable. Power supplies up to 200 mm in length can be fitted. Storage options are kept relatively minimal to maintain the clean interior aesthetic, with a convertible drive bay supporting either a 3.5-inch HDD or a 2.5-inch SSD, alongside two dedicated 2.5-inch mounts. The I/O panel, located at the bottom of the left panel, covers the essentials, including USB connectivity (1x Type-C 3.2 and 2x Type-A 3.0) and standard audio jacks.

KitGuru says: The D401 is an aesthetically pleasing case with room for almost anything you want to throw at it. However, looks aren't enough, and the limited storage options, I/O panel location, and interrupted panoramic view might deter some from pursuing this case.

Terminator Survivors is pivoting to a single-player game after delay

17 décembre 2025 à 18:30

Terminator Survivors was initially announced with a 2025 release window, but here we are in the final weeks of the year and the game is still nowhere to be found. Today, Nacon officially confirmed that the game has in fact been delayed, but beyond that, it is also going through some major changes behind-the-scenes.

Terminator Survivors was initially pitched as a co-op multiplayer shooter. However, after months of internal testing, the team behind it has decided to go back and reimagine the game as a single-player title.

In an update post published this week, the game's creative director, Marco Ponte, said: “After months of internal testing, discussions with players and fans of the license, we came to the conclusion that to give you an authentic Terminator experience with the best possible shooting and exploration gameplay, we would have to put aside the cooperative multiplayer.”

“We know this may come as a disappointment, but we believe it is the right creative direction for an uncompromising vision of the world after Judgment Day. We’ve also had to overhaul our release plans, instead of launching in early access, we want your first steps into the wasteland to be a complete and polished experience.”

As a result of all of this, Terminator Survivors will not be coming out in 2025 like originally planned. There is no new release date yet, but fans can sign-up to be part of future playtests, which will take place closer to the game's new, currently unknown release window.

KitGuru Says: It is rare to see an announced multiplayer game go through a pivot like this. Would you be happier with a single-player Terminator shooter, or would you have preferred the original multiplayer version?

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was the best-selling game in the US last month

17 décembre 2025 à 18:00

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was once again the bestselling game in the US during its launch month, despite strong competition from the likes of Battlefield 6 and Arc Raiders,

Mat Piscatella, a videogame industry analyst for Circana, has shared the top 20 best-selling games in the US for November 2025. The list is topped by Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, although EA's new hit shooter was not far behind, taking the number 2 spot.

Here is the full top 10:

  1. Call of Duty: Black Ops 7
  2. Battlefield 6
  3. NBA 2K26
  4. Madden NFL 26
  5. EA Sports FC 26
  6. Pokemon Legends Z-A
  7. Ghost of Yotei
  8. EA Sports College Football 26
  9. Minecraft
  10. Kirby Air Riders

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 managed to beat out all of this year's major sports games as well, despite many of them being discounted for Black Friday. New releases from Nintendo, like Kirby Air Riders and Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment both battled for the #10 spot, but ultimately, Kirby won out and Hyrule Warriors dropped to #11.

Other notable games found throughout the #11 to #20 slots include The Outer Worlds 2 at #12, Sonic Racing: Cross Worlds at #13, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 at #15, Red Dead Redemption 2 at #16, followed closely by GTA V at #17. Borderlands 4, and Forza Horizon 5 both also managed to remain in the top 20.

KitGuru Says: Black Ops 7 has sold well, but there must have been something in the numbers to spook Activision, or they wouldn't have recently announced plans to stop back-to-back years for Black Ops and Modern Warfare.

Todd Howard also wishes The Elder Scrolls 6 had come out faster

17 décembre 2025 à 17:30

The Elder Scrolls 6 is a bit of a touchy subject for Bethesda. The game was announced far too early, back in 2018 and while fans knew that Starfield was the priority at the time, fans have not stopped asking about it. Todd Howard made a rare comment on the state of the game this week, saying that he too wished that things had moved faster.

Internally, Bethesda had reportedly planned to ship Starfield before 2022, but delays creeped in. Ultimately, after joining Microsoft, the game was announced for late 2022, only for another major delay to take place, pushing the game back to late 2023. Due to the lingering work required on Starfield, production for The Elder Scrolls 6 also had to be pushed back.

The Elder Scrolls 6 is now finally in full production and could release as early as 2027, alongside a planned next-generation Xbox console. Speaking with Game Informer, Todd Howard commented on the drawn-out timeline for the game, saying:

“The majority of the studio’s on VI, but I’ll say this: We always overlap. So, we’re very used to overlapping development. And we have long pre-productions on things so that we feel good about them. And it’s a process. We all wish it went a little bit faster – or a lot faster – but it’s a process that we want to get right.”

The last Elder Scrolls game to release was 2011's Skyrim. We still don't know what part of Tamriel the new game will be set in, or what gameplay changes may come along with it. Based on the 2018 teaser, fans reckon that The Elder Scrolls 6 may be set in Hammerfell, the home of the Redguards, or potentially High Rock, the homeland of the Bretons. Some also speculate that the game could span both regions, as they are more compact compared to Skyrim, while also being neighbouring provinces.

KitGuru Says: If The Elder Scrolls 6 is indeed targeting a 2027 launch date, then we may start getting some real news about the game starting next year.

Arctic aims for improved longevity with new high-viscosity MX-7 thermal paste

17 décembre 2025 à 16:30

Arctic has officially retired the MX-6 from its flagship position, replacing it with the new MX-7 compound. While the company has long been a staple in thermal pastes, this latest iteration marks a distinct shift in formulation strategy, moving towards a significantly higher viscosity to combat the “pump-out” effect common in modern, high-heat-density processors.

Arctic has engineered MX-7 to be considerably thicker than its predecessors, a design choice explicitly aimed at long-term stability. The phenomenon of pump-out, where thermal cycles cause lower-viscosity pastes to migrate away from the die centre, has become a frequent headache for direct-die cooling applications on GPUs and gaming laptops. By increasing the cohesiveness of the mixture, Arctic claims the MX-7 will maintain its bond line integrity far longer than standard pastes.

However, this change in consistency requires some builders to change how they apply it. The manufacturer explicitly advises against the old “spread with a spatula” technique that was popular with the softer MX-4. Due to the high viscosity, manual spreading is likely to result in uneven ridges. Instead, Arctic recommends applying a generous amount in a cross pattern and allowing the mounting pressure to distribute the material. This ensures a uniform layer that fills microscopic imperfections without introducing air pockets.

The compound is fully non-conductive and non-capacitive, meaning that any accidental overspill onto the system carries no risk of short circuits. Arctic has also integrated a QR-code-based authenticity check on the packaging to ensure you're getting the real thing. The MX-7 is now available at a launch discount, with the 2g syringe starting at €6.49. The 4g variant comes in at €6.99, and the 8g tube at €8.49. For those needing to clean up old residue, a bundle version including a 4g syringe and six MX-Cleaner wipes is available for €8.29.

KitGuru says: Have you ever used Arctic MX thermal pastes? Were you happy with the results? Would you consider the new MX-7 if you had to replace the thermal paste of a GPU/CPU?

Enermax debuts Revolution III S 1000W PSU with 13-year warranty and ATX 3.1 support

17 décembre 2025 à 15:30

Enermax has expanded its high-end power supply portfolio with the introduction of the Revolution III S 1000W, a new unit targeting the premium segment of the market. Available in black and white, this latest entry focuses heavily on future-proofing, featuring full compliance with the Intel ATX 3.1 standard. Perhaps the most aggressive move with this launch is the manufacturer's decision to back the unit with a 13-year warranty. This duration exceeds the industry-standard 10-year coverage typically seen on flagship units from competitors like Corsair or Seasonic.

Efficiency is a key selling point for the Revolution III S, which has secured Platinum certification across three major testing bodies: 80 Plus, Cybenetics, and PPLP. This ensures tight voltage regulation and reduced thermal waste, which is managed by a 120 mm fluid-dynamic bearing fan. Enermax has tuned the cooling curve for silence, implementing a semi-fanless mode that keeps the fan stationary until the load exceeds 60%. For a 1000W unit, this means the power supply remains passive during most desktop tasks and even gaming scenarios.

The PSU uses 100% Japanese capacitors and includes a native 12V-2×6 connector capable of delivering up to 600W down a single cable, ensuring compatibility with current and future flagship graphics cards without the need for adapters. The cabling solution uses mesh-sleeving rather than standard ribbon cables, designed to improve flexibility and airflow management within the chassis.

The Revolution III S 1000W is scheduled to hit retailers in January 2026. Pricing is set at $179.99/€159.99 for the standard black model, while the white variant commands a slight premium at $189.99/€169.99.

KitGuru says: We've seen plenty of PSUs with 12-year warranties over the last decade, but a 13-year warranty isn't that common. This alone might be enough for the Revolution III S 1000W to stand out in the market.

Sledgehammer to develop new sub-series for COD 2027 according to insider

17 décembre 2025 à 16:00

As a result of what appears to be disappointing sales for Treyarch’s latest Call of Duty Black Ops 7, Activision confirmed that they would no longer be doing back-to-back releases within the same sub-series. While we’ve already seen a solid number of leaks regarding next year’s COD MW4, details surrounding Sledgehammer Games’ 2027 project have now been revealed.

A shared by known Call of Duty leaker TheGhostofHope, 2027’s Call of Duty is set to be led by Sledgehammer Games. While they were most recently put in charge of Modern Warfare III, Sledgehammer are reportedly working on a brand new sub-series for 2027 “with completely new characters set in the late 1990s/early 2000s.”

Details beyond this are light, however, TheGhostofHope did claim that omni-movement (first seen in Black Ops 6 and refined in BO7) will make a return in 2027. Interestingly, other recent leaks have stated that next year’s Modern Warfare 4 from Infinity Ward WON’T feature omni-movement.

Going back to Sledgehammer’s COD however, Ghost also claimed that the much-loved pick-10 system seen in earlier Black Ops releases could make a return.

COD Sledgehammer

The final notable detail shared was the fact that it appeared as though the Zombies mode won’t be present in COD 2027. While this may disappoint some, it should allow for Treyarch to recoup and put all their focus on Black Ops 8 in 2029 or whatever it ends up being called.

While all Call of Duty studios have been victim to decisions made by high-up executives, Sledgehammer Games have historically been given the shortest end of the stick, being brought in to finish up troubled projects or forced to work on other sub-franchises. As such, here’s to hoping that the team’s next Call of Duty manages to stand on its own and allow Sledgehammer Games to flex their creative muscles.

Hollow Knight: Silksong has already sold over 7 million copies

17 décembre 2025 à 15:00

Following half a decade of hype, excitement and anticipation, Hollow Knight: Silksong officially arrived in September with a level of interest so high that it temporarily broke pretty much all digital store fronts. Amassing over 500,000 concurrent players on PC alone, it was clear that Silksong had sold millions of copies already. That said, we now have official figures, with Team Cherry confirming that Silksong has so far surpassed 7 million copies.

As part of the surprise announcement for Hollow Knight: Silksong’s upcoming free expansion – Sea of Sorrow – Team Cherry confirmed that the game has already sold over 7 million copies, writing:

“We wanted to say a huge thank you to all the players who’ve braved Silksong’s distant and dangerous lands. That’s over seven million of you who’ve purchased the game, alongside millions more playing on Xbox Game Pass! It’s a truly staggering number of players, more than we could have ever expected (enough to crash all of the storefronts!)”

Hollow Knight 7 million

For context, the original Hollow Knight is confirmed to have sold over 15 million copies as of August 2025, meaning Silksong still has a ways to go to surpass its predecessor. That said, the first game had ‘only’ sold 2.8 million copies after over 2 years on the market.

With Silksong just a little over 3 months on from release, and plenty of post-launch support still planned, it would not be surprising to see the sequel surpassing the OG Hollow Knight – perhaps even by the time Sea of Sorrow releases next year.

CyberPowerPC PBM U97 PZ Prebuilt Desktop Review

17 décembre 2025 à 15:00

The U97 PZ Powered by MSI prebuilt desktop from CyberPowerPC is quite possibly the cleanest system we’ve ever had on the bench. Built around MSI’s Project Zero ecosystem, with a Ryzen 7 9800X3D and a Project Zero RTX 5070 Ti Ventus 3X OC, it hides the cables almost entirely and leans hard into a sleek, minimalist look. We’ve put it through its paces at both 1440p and 4K to find out whether that clean aesthetic is backed up by the performance you’d expect at this level.

The core specs are confirmed in the following CPU-Z and GPU-Z screenshots:

We tested the U97 PZ across a range of modern titles at both 1440p and 4K, starting with native rasterised performance before enabling DLSS Super Resolution's Performance preset and, where supported, adding Frame Generation or Multi-Frame Gen. The screenshots below highlight a selection of results, while the full breakdown and on-screen analysis can be found in our video review on YouTube.

At 1440p, the system delivers consistently strong performance across all of the games we tested, with plenty of headroom for high-refresh-rate displays. Competitive titles in particular benefit from the pairing of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RTX 5070 Ti, while more demanding single-player games still run smoothly at native settings. Stepping up to 4K, performance remains solid, though the heaviest titles can dip below 60fps when running fully rasterised. Enabling DLSS and Frame Generation dramatically improves framerates, turning this into a very capable machine for both high-refresh 1440p gaming and more visually demanding 4K experiences without needing to compromise on settings.

Black Myth: Wukong (3840×2160 – Max Settings, DLSS Performance, Frame Generation On)

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 (3840×2160 – Max Settings, DLSS Performance, 4X Multi Frame Generation On)

Forza Horizon 5 (3840×2160 – Max Settings)

Cyberpunk 2077 (2560×1440 – Max Settings, DLSS Performance, 4X Multi Frame Generation On)

Marvel Rivals (2560×1440 – Max Settings)

Closing Thoughts

There’s a lot to like about the U97 PZ Powered by MSI. The Project Zero ecosystem is the clear highlight here, delivering one of the cleanest-looking prebuilts we’ve ever tested. Cable management is excellent, the overall presentation is superb, and CyberPowerPC has done a very tidy job with the assembly. It’s a system that looks genuinely special when you take the side panel off.

Performance backs that design up nicely, too. The pairing of the Ryzen 7 9800X3D and RTX 5070 Ti delivers excellent 1440p gaming performance across a wide range of titles, with enough headroom to step into 4K when paired with DLSS and Frame Generation. Thermals are well controlled under sustained load, and nothing about the configuration feels mismatched or under-specced for its intended use.

It’s not completely perfect, though. The memory configuration is functional rather than premium, with speeds and timings that are a little conservative for a system at this price point. That said, given the current state of the memory market, it’s an understandable compromise to keep overall pricing in check. Aesthetically, white memory modules would also have suited the rest of the build far better and completed the look MSI and CyberPowerPC were clearly aiming for.

Pricing is fair overall. Building a near-identical system yourself comes out slightly more expensive once Windows licensing is factored in, and that doesn’t account for the quality of the cable management, assembly, and after-sales support included here. Taken as a complete package, this is a very strong 1440p gaming system with standout design and sensible performance choices.

You can purchase the U97 PZ prebuilt desktop for £2249 from Cyberpower PC HERE. We will also be giving away this system as part of our Advent Calendar so stay tuned for more details!

Pros:

  • Outstanding design and aesthetics thanks to MSI Project Zero components.
  • Excellent 1440p gaming performance, with headroom for 4K in certain titles.
  • Well built with very tidy cable management by CyberPowerPC.
  • Fair pricing versus a comparable DIY build.

Cons:

  • Memory speed and timings are a little conservative for the price.
  • White memory modules would better suit the overall theme of the build.

KitGuru says: A superbly clean Project Zero prebuilt that pairs standout design with excellent 1440p gaming performance, fairly priced and well assembled. The only thing holding it back is the memory specifications, and even then it's only a slight downside.

Dead Island 3 officially announced alongside 2028 release window

17 décembre 2025 à 14:00

After nearly a decade stuck in development hell, the long awaited Dead Island 2 finally released thanks to the efforts of Dambuster Studios. Despite the long wait, interest did not dwindle, with the 2023 sequel going on to exceed 20 million total players. Though teased previously, a Dead Island 3 has now been officially confirmed.

Back in September, the team at Dambuster Studios celebrated Dead Island 2’s latest milestone achievement of surpassing 20 million total players, writing at the time “This isn’t the final cut though. Dambuster Studios are already carving out what comes next. For now, the details stay under wraps, the outbreak is far from over…”

While this was clearly hinting at a new Dead Island entry, we did not have official confirmation. As part of Dambuster Studios’ latest financial reports however (shared by Timur222), the company not only announced Dead Island 3, but offered a launch window, writing:

“After release of Dead Island 2 Ultimate Edition in October 2024, the primary focus for Dambuster Studios is now Dead Island 3. All developers are assigned to the project and once the Luna and Mac versions of Dead Island 2 are complete all of Dambuster's QA team will also be assigned to Dead Island 3.”

Dead Island 3 Dambuster

Offering even more on their current timeline, they continued, “Parts of the game are now in early production with feature, character, world and story design moving at pace. The current predicted release window for the project is Q1/2 2028.”

Given the fact that Dead Island 2 was clearly announced far too early back in the day, it perhaps makes sense that Dambuster would want to avoid making a big splash with Dead Island 3 until they are confident in its release. Hopefully we won’t have to wait another decade.

Discuss on our Facebook page HERE.

KitGuru says: What did you think of Dead Island 2? Was it a successful follow-up? Do you trust Dambuster to handle another entry? Let us know down below.
