The large Tantau office complex near Apple Park and the Apple Fitness Center has been acquired by Apple, though the building was already in use by the company.


Apple Park is a massive Cupertino campus with The Ring, a 2.8-million-square-foot circular building that can house 12,000 employees. However, even with that giant building, Apple still needs more space and occupies many buildings in the area around the main campus.

One of those buildings, referred to as Cupertino Gateway, is within shouting distance of the giant ring building, just off the same N Tantau Ave that leads to Apple's campus. According to a report from Mercury News, Apple has purchased the 220,700 square foot building for $160 million.

Former long-time Apple employee Paula Bozinovich was among eight people who died on a Lake Tahoe boating trip over the weekend.


On July 21st, a boat capsized on Lake Tahoe, causing the deaths of eight people. Among the group was Paula Bozinovich, formerly of Apple, who was celebrating her 71st birthday with the powerboat ride.

The boat passengers were caught up in a sudden storm while on the lake, reports The San Francisco Chronicle, resulting in eight-foot waves and gusts of up to 35mph. The 27-foot powerboat capsized, killing eight people with two survivors.

Apple has released version 3.0 of the Sports app for iOS, with the new version introducing tennis for the first time, just in time for Wimbledon.


The Sports app covers quite a few different sports types, including soccer, ice hockey, Formula 1, and others, providing the latest scores and results to its users. In a Wednesday update, the app now supports tennis.

Apple's fight for compensation on sales made external to the App Store continues as it asks the 9th Circuit Court to undo the "unduly punitive" mandate set by Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rodgers.


Apple was told it willfully violated a 2021 injunction that wasn't enforced until 2024 and must remove all barriers to external app purchases and linking. A stay on the order was requested and denied, but the fight continues.

According to a report from Law360, Apple has urged the Ninth Circuit Court to throw out the mandate set by the judge. Apple called the order to allow external linking and zero commission on external purchases "unduly punitive" and "fundamentally unfair."

Apple's iCloud services were experiencing an outage, and impacted users are experiencing issues with iCloud Mail, Photos, and the iWork suite of apps.


On Tuesday, users of iCloud Mail reported issues with this and other Apple Services. A number of people were unable to access iCloud Mail, with some experiencing difficulties even after gaining access.

According to Apple's System Status page, the company's iCloud services, including iCloud Mail, iCloud Web Apps, iCloud Storage Upgrades, Photos, and iWork integration, were all impacted by an outage that began at 2:36 PM ET. Another issue at 3:57 PM affected the Find My service, which lets users locate and track their Apple devices.

A ruling in a U.S. District Court has effectively given permission to train artificial intelligence models using copyrighted works, in a decision that's extremely problematic for creative industries.


Content creators and artists have been suffering for years, with AI companies scraping their sited and scanning books to train large language models (LLMs) without permission. That data is then used for generative AI and other machine learning tasks, and then monetized by the scraping company with no compensation for the original host or author.

Following a ruling by a U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California issued on Tuesday, companies are being given free rein to train with just about any published media that they want to harvest.

Apple's iPhone sales in China are likely to get a big boost from a government subsidy program that pays buyers to stimulate the economy.


On Tuesday, Apple revealed that consumers are able to take advantage of a government subsidy that applies to a selection of its products. The subsidy covers up to RMB 2,000 ($278) of the cost of a limited number of Apple products.

Under the program, first reported by Global Times, customers can buy products from the Apple Store in Shanghai or the Apple Online Store, if they have a delivery address in Beijing.

In a move to bolt the stable door, US House of Representatives staff must stop using WhatsApp, and switch to a more secure service like Apple's Messages.


It may seem as if the government prefers to make its messages insecure, but really it wants sending classified texts to journalists to be its decision, not a feature. According to the Financial Times, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of the US House of Representatives has banned WhatsApp from June 30, 2025.

The owners of All One Farm in Oregon, are hoping to finally cash in how it claims to be the orchard that inspired Steve Jobs to name his company "Apple."


The origins of Apple are well-documented. While the naming of the company after an apple orchard sounds either apocryphal or just plain marketing, but it's true and the farm finally wants to cash in.

According to Oregon Live, All One Farm near McMinnville, is now on the market for $5 million. Based on property records searches, it appears to be the first time that the farm has been offered for sale since it was turned into a commune by Robert Friedland in the early 1970s.

Apple's iPad Pro could get even thinner bezels in the future, thanks to a possible change to the way its OLED panels are manufactured.


Apple has continuously pushed to create as thin a bezel as possible for its products. These efforts have resulted in very thin bezels for the iPhone and MacBook Pro, but a change could result in even thinner versions for the iPad lineup.

According to The Elec on Tuesday, Apple is preparing to approve or reject a display driver IC (DDI) from LX Semicon. The change could allow LG Innotek to supply its own chip-on-film (CoF) materials for use in iPad OLED panels.

Apple's first iOS 26 beta was so rough that it had some falling over themselves to write it off forever. But that's an overreaction to say the least, and Apple is already showing why you can't judge an update by its beta 1 release.

A New Jersey shop owner is facing criminal charges after authorities seized hundreds of fake iPhones, AirPods Max and more, in a sweeping takedown.


Authorities in Essex County have charged a New Jersey electronics store owner with selling more than 100 counterfeit Apple products. Seized items often include imitation iPhones, AirPods, charging cables, or adapters that mimic Apple's retail packaging.

The arrest, according to NJ.com, was made under Essex County's Intellectual Property Enforcement Program, funded by the U.S. Department of Justice. Prosecutors said the 63-year-old man from Woodland Park was arrested on June 5.

While Apple will make steady progress toward moving all Face ID and camera sensors invisibly beneath the iPhone screen, the latest rumors say that you'll have to wait for the iPhone 22 for an all-screen model.


Rumors of an uninterrupted all-screen display for iPhone have existed ever since Apple first introduced the iPhone X with a notch in 2017. It's variously been reported for 2023, and more recently display analyst Ross Young has pushed estimates back to 2026.

Now Young has issued a revised prediction for the all-display iPhone. As well as setting new dates, he says that Apple will work toward an uninterrupted screen in three distinct steps in 2026, 2028, and finally 2030.

Some macOS 15.5 Mail users are dealing with authentication issues when using the app with Microsoft or Google accounts. It's not yet clear why.


Issues with Apple Software are an occasional problem for users, but sometimes the reason for their existence can't be explained easily. Now, it seems that one such problem is starting to crop up in Mail on macOS.

A Reddit post on the r/mac subreddit by u/Jollylook explains the issuein a few images, in that Mail for macOS has difficulty authenticating accounts and accessing servers. In the Redditor's case, they woke up to see that Mail can't verify the identity of a Microsoft Outlook server.

A new report claims that Apple is in last-minute negotiations with the European Union over App Store changes, in an attempt to avoid impending further fines.


The further fines in question relate to how Apple was initially fined $570 for alleged non-compliance with the Digital Markets Act (DMA) and given 60 days to correct this. That time limit expires on June 26, after which the EU would be able to impose increasingly large fines until Apple compiled.

However, on June 19, 2025, it was reported that the EU had said it might not immediately impose the fines on Apple. At that point, it was suggested that the European Commission would first conduct an analysis and then share the findings from that with Apple.

A nine-minute video with Jony Ive and Sam Altman discussing their recently acquired AI startup has been withdrawn because of a challenge to their "io" name.


While the existence of Ive and Altman's AI startup was reported as long ago as April 2024, it wasn't until a year later that its name was known. Even then, inApril 2025, it was initially reported that it was called "io Projects."

By the time that the company was bought by Altman's OpenAi for $6.5 billion in May 2025, it had been officially announced under the name "io." Now as first spotted by TechCrunch, that name is proving to be a problem.

A questionable new leak says that the iPhone 17 line will introduce a vapor chamber cooling technique. If true, it would be the debut of the technology in the iPhone lineup.


Currently, iPhones use passive cooling by leveraging the metal and glass of the iPhone body. However, during intense usage, this can result in warnings that the iPhone must cool down, preventing further use of the device for a short time.

The new report from Majin Bu — who has a mixed track record for accuracy — confirms that the vapor chamber cooling technique will debut in the iPhone 17, expected to debut this fall. While the report claims to be from an "internal source," it hedges its bet by saying that a design is "still evolving, with some challenges to address."

The next iPhone chip, the A19, could be as fast as Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, but Apple isn't pursuing that in favor of preserving battery life.


The chip inside a smartphone is a major component, as it is core to the performance of the mobile device. However, while the industry drives for the use of faster chips, Apple is doing so with an eye to battery consumption.

According to serial leaker "Fixed Focus Digital" in a June 21 Weibo post, it is believed that Apple's A19 chip could be as fast as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2. The Elite 2 is a yet-to-launch chipset that follows the Snapdragon 8 Elite, used in high-performance Android smartphones.

A new initiative from Adobe aims to improve smartphone cameras and computational photography in general to give a more natural, SLR-like look to iPhone photography.


A new paper from Adobe Fellow Marc Levoy and Senior Scientist Florian Kainz discusses their latest project, which is embodied in a new Project Indigo app available for iPhones. In addition to what the inventors hope is a more "natural" look, the project aims for the highest image quality possible on a mobile device.

In the new research paper explaining the project, the pair detail their approach to achieving more authentic photo images. The app under-exposes more strongly than most camera apps, but also captures, aligns, and combines "more frames when producing each photo — up to 32 frames" in a single exposure.

Perhaps in an acquihire to boost search, or to improve Siri, Apple executives have reportedly recently discussed buying or partnering with AI startup Perplexity.


The two executives linked to discussions are said to be the company's head of mergers Adrian Perica, and Eddy Cue. According to unnamed sources within Apple, internal discussions are in a very early stage, and there has not yet been an offer made.

Also a possibility is a team-up with Perplexity, rather than an outright buy. Any partnership would put Perplexity in Safari, and perhaps integrated into the long-delayed improved Siri project, that is now not expected to ship until 2026.

Starting June 20, 2025, the European Union will require smartphones and tablets to meet strict sustainability standards and display detailed energy labels at the point of sale. These labels will feature scores for battery life, durability, and repairability.

A well-known leaker with a questionable track record claims that Apple could release the iPhone 17 in two new colors.


On Friday, Leaker Majin Bu announced that Apple is currently testing iPhone 17 base model colorways. This time around, it seems as though Apple may be planning on going with a pastel green and purple.

From the images shared by Bu, the purple appears to be pretty similar to what we saw with the iPhone 11 lineup. The green, however, is more saturated than the light green iPhone 15 and skews more towards yellow than the mint green iPhone 12.

The Liquid Glass look of the new macOS Tahoe is the first thing a user sees, but the appearance isn't only aesthetic, it comes with new features and improves existing ones.


In previous years, Apple has sometimes dialled back its macOS changes between the first developer beta and its eventual public release. But even the earliest look at a new macOS brings most of what it will be like to use as official operating system of the Mac.

So while details may change, and there are clear areas where improvement is needed, it's already possible to say that macOS Tahoe is a step forward for the Mac. It may not be the enormous leap that Apple claims, or as big an improvement as has come to iPadOS 26, but it's a definitely and marked improvement.

Expanding still further on its Indian manufacturing for Apple, Foxconn is reportedly looking to produce iPhone enclosures in the country.


Foxconn has already opened a new factory in India in 2025, and it's a continuation of years of expansion — even if that hasn't always gone as well as planned. Now according to India's The Economic Times, Foxconn is expected to open a further new facility in Oragadam, Tamil Nadu.

Neither Foxconn nor Apple have commented publicly, but citing unnamed sources said to be aware of the developments, the report says Foxconn wants to make iPhone enclosures, or chassis there. The report first describes Foxconn as looking at setting up a new unit in the ESR Industrial & Logistics Park at Oragadam in Tamil Nadu.

Issues surrounding Apple Intelligence have been cropping up throughout the day Thursday, and it may be due to a botched backend push from Apple. Users began noticing the lack of on-device Apple Intelligence early Thursday, and issues have continued propagating across devices and regions.

There's nothing on Apple's system status page that would indicate there are any issues, though there isn't a section for Apple Intelligence. AppleInsider reached out to Apple about the issue and has been told they are looking into it.

President Trump has signed yet another executive order delaying enforcement of the TikTok ban by 90 days, so companies like Apple, Google, and ByteDance don't have to worry about fines.


TikTok was targeted as a potential security threat during the first Trump administration, where a ban was threatened but never carried out. A law was passed by the Biden administration in 2024 that would result in a TikTok ban, and in spite of it going into effect on January 19, 2025, Trump immediately delayed enforcement of the ban after taking office on January 20.

Another delay was provided on April 4, which would mean enforcement of the law would begin on June 18, but yet another executive order was signed on Thursday. It seems President Trump is willing to delay enforcement of the law until "TikTok America" or some other solution is arrived at.

FireWire's final curtain call may be upon us. In the first developer beta of macOS 26 Tahoe, Apple has removed all FireWire support.


While the removal comes in a beta release and technically could be reversed, that isn't likely. The FireWire section has been removed from the System Information app entirely.

Developers have noticed that FireWire devices no longer appear in Disk Utility or Finder. There's no sign that Apple plans to bring it back.

Apple may miss the the European Union's looming App Store anti-steering compliance deadline enforced by the Digital Markets Act — but it won't face automatic fines if it does.


It looks like both Apple and Meta are off the hook for Digital Markets Act (DMA) compliance — for now. Both tech giants won't be required to pay their multi-million dollar fines to the European Union, even if they should miss their compliance requirement.

In April, the European Commission fined Apple 500 million euros, an amount that worked out to roughly $570 million at the time. While it eventually gave Apple a grace period to bring its practices in line with the Digital Markets Act, it threatened to tack on extra fines if it did not comply by the June 26 deadline.

An App Store user is suing Apple because she was duped by a fake cryptocurrency app, neglecting her own role in her choosing to send money to fairly obvious criminals.


No question, Apple's app review team has had failures before. It appears, too, that this new lawsuit is evidence of another one, even as it follows the company's boasting that it protected users from $9 billion in fraud in the last five years.

Both statements can be true at the same time. That hasn't dissuaded a complainant in a suit from blaming Apple because she chose to send money to a crypto scam.

While getting an industry award, Apple Silicon chief Johny Srouji said that he wants generative AI to design chips, which has been blown out of proportion to mean that Apple hasn't ever used AI to do so. This is, of course, nonsense.


On Thursday, reports started to circulate about Apple and an intention to use generative AI to design the chips used in its products. Stemming from a speech at Imec in May, Apple Senior Vice President of Hardware Technologies Johny Srouji made comments about the use of machine learning to design chips.

A video of the speech, initially reported by Reuters has Srouji explaining Apple's design of custom chips, going back to the A4 and up to modern-day chips like the M4 processor line.

European users will not get macOS Tahoe's Live Activities, and they still won't get 2024's iPhone mirroring, because of Apple's uncertainty over the EU's Digital Markets Act.


Apple initially held back Apple Intelligence from the European users — prompting lambasting criticism from the EU — but did eventually launch it in April 2025. It has not launched iPhone mirroring, and has now confirmed that it will not come to the EU with iOS 26 or macOS 26.

According to Paris-based publication Numerama, multiple unnamed Apple officials said that the company will still not enable the feature because of the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Rather than any technological concern, Apple says that it simply unclear about the DMA's regulatory requirements and what they may lead to.

Cybersecurity professionals have discovered a series of exposed datasets which contain 16 billion credentials obtained by infostealers, but those that practice good password hygiene should be safe.


There's probably at least one person in your life, perhaps it's you, that periodically reminds their family of the importance of proper password hygiene. The eye rolls and annoyed dismissals are expected, but the latest data breach may be enough to inspire some motivation.

According to research conducted by a cybersecurity team at Cybernews, 30 datasets containing over 16 billion stolen credentials appeared briefly online. The researchers haven't been able to discover who owns the dataset, but it's a massive breach that makes most others pale in comparison.

As part of its iconic "Shot on iPhone" campaign, Apple has released yet another short film, called "Big Man," featuring UK rapper Michael "Stormzy" Omari.


The short film, which debuted on Wednesday, sees Stormzy in the role of a world-weary musician who hasn't made any music in nearly eight years. Stormzy's character, Tenzman, runs into two bright and joyful kids, and the trio embarks on a life-changing journey, which ends with Tenzman making new music.

"Big Man" has a runtime of just under 20 minutes, and the short film was directed by Aneil Karia. The London-based writer and director is known for his work on Beat, Surge, and The Long Goodbye. Karia also makes an appearance in Apple's behind-the-scenes video for "Big Man," where the director outlines the advantages of using the iPhone 16 Pro for the project.
