Apple executives are keeping silent about future Apple Intelligence plans, but a new rumor suggests the 2026 release of contextual Siri is just the start on a road to chatbots and always-on assistants.


It's been a tough year for Apple's public image as it overpromised on AI features and has been seen as perpetually behind in the AI race — even though it insists it isn't. The Apple Intelligence delays have resulted in product delays too, as the rumored Home Hub will have to wait for a better Siri.

However, these delays and setbacks haven't affected Apple's initiative to improve its AI offerings. According to Bloomberg, there are several plans for the future of Apple Intelligence, though it seems there are internal arguments around how and when they will be ready.

Apple is rolling out a slew of new features for CarPlay and CarPlay Ultra in iOS 26. Here's what you can expect in the fall when the new operating systems ship.

Apple is making it easier for iPhone owners to add their own custom ringtones, but the change in iOS 26 is only a slight improvement versus iOS 18.


Adding ringtones to the iPhone is almost always an investment in time or money. Apple really wants its users to buy new tones via the Tone Store, charging for brief snatches of music from popular musical artists.

Apple is stepping up its fight against unwanted calls and messages in iOS 26 with smarter voicemail reporting. Here's how it works.


The most visible change is a new option in the Phone app that lets users report spam voicemails directly to Apple. If you get a voicemail from an unknown number, tapping on the message now reveals a "Report Spam" button.

You can choose to report it and keep the voicemail or report it and delete it. Either way, the message is flagged and sent to Apple for review.

As part of making the iPad as powerful as the Mac, Apple has migrated Preview to iPadOS. Here's how it stands in iPadOS 26 versus macOS Tahoe.

Apple just gave the Share Sheet in iOS 26 a much-needed cleanup, and your thumbs will be thankful.


Apple has refined the iPhone share sheet in iOS 26, showing fewer actions up front to make the interface feel lighter and easier to use. Instead of hitting you with every possible option right away, it now presents a short, focused list tailored to what you're most likely to use.

On June 12, 2005, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs took to the stage in front of Stanford's graduating class and gave a 15-minute speech. One that would become one of the most influential and impactful speeches to graduates in living memory.

A new report breaks down issues from Apple Intelligence to tariffs, and says the problems are insurmountable. Why the report ignores the solutions Apple has always used effectively, we have no idea.


Apple most certainly faces problems with Trump's tariffs and how they change at whim-speed, it definitely has foes including the European Commission, and at least some unhappy developers. Apple has made the Photos app less of a mess in iOS 26, with iPhone users also able to convert 2D images into Spatial Photos from their device.

Apple Vision Pro gains PlayStation VR2 Sense controller support with visionOS 26, and it will open up a wide array of possibilities when developers get on board.


Rumors have been floating around for a while that Apple would allow third-party VR controllers to connect to Apple Vision Pro. That feature was finally announced as a part of visionOS 26, and it's working in the first developer beta.

In an unlikely corporate alliance, Disney and Universal are suing Midjourney for turning iconic characters like Yoda, Shrek and Iron Man into hundreds of thousands of AI-generated graphics without permission or payment.


Disney and Universal Pictures are taking AI startup Midjourney to court, accusing it of mass copyright infringement for training its image generator on the studios' most recognizable characters. In a joint lawsuit filed Wednesday in federal court, the studios accuse Midjourney of building its business on unauthorized use of their most valuable characters.

The two studios are rarely on the same side. Disney and Universal have long competed for box office dominance and theme park visitors, but they now share a common goal.

The immense spending on Apple TV+ projects like "F1" is less about selling more iPhones to the public, and more about the art itself, according to CEO Tim Cook.


Apple TV+ is well known as a well-heeled video streaming service, with Apple losing over a billion dollars per year on it. The approach, which enables high-budget shows to be produced for the streaming platform, puts it at a par with others like Netflix, if not with the subscriber count.

The approach could be considered an extreme marketing exercise, trying to increase the sale of connected items like the iPhone and Macs. There's also speculation that a success with "F1""F1" could result in Apple securing the U.S. rights to the sport for the 2026 season.

In an ambiguous post today, President Donald Trump noted that he's close to a deal with China, that's still worse for Apple and the US economy than what was in place before his April tariff program launch.


On Wednesday, Trump took to Truth Social to announce that the U.S. and China were in the process of completing tariff negotiations. According to Trump, the US will receive 55% tariffs, while China will receive 10%, pending approval from both parties.

As part of the deal, China will supply magnets and rare earth materials. In exchange, the U.S. will continue to allow Chinese students to attend American colleges.

It's true that the Liquid Glass redesign is less than revolutionary, but at least with macOS 26, with it, Apple is making users be more productive.


Maybe it's just because it is ridiculous how quickly you get used to a new macOS. But a couple of days after Apple made it sound incredibly new and different, macOS Tahoe visual differences seem small, yet still useful.

Just as with iOS 26, it's possible to say that the Liquid Glass redesign is putting a new surface on the Mac without fundamentally changing anything. Yet the visual design is deeply part of what productivity benefits have come with macOS Tahoe.

WhatsApp and U.S. lawmakers on both sides are rallying behind Apple's stand against the controversial UK demands to weaken encryption across the board.

Rioters have run through Apple Tower Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, smashing windows and stealing iPhones, during protests over immigration raids.


Apple Tower Theatre is an historic Los Angeles building that was formerly a theatre, abandoned in the 1980s. Apple turned it into an Apple Store in 2021, preserving its architecture and also making it a classical music venue.

According to local news station KTLA, a fourth night of anti-ICE protests on June 10, 2025, included rioters breaking into the Apple Store. Reportedly, iPhones, Apple Watches, MacBook Pro, and chargers were stolen, while "No ICE" and other slogans were spray-painted onto the damaged glass.

In 2025, Apple slapped a new coat of paint on its operating systems at WWDC and called it good — but perhaps there was a chance that it actually had planned something entirely different.


WWDC 2025 was certainly one of the more subdued I've personally seen. Granted, I am admittedly one of the newer Mac users to AppleInsider staff — I made the switch in 2019.

But even in 2019, we had all the excitement of a new operating system: iPadOS. This change would ultimately cement the iPad as its own thing, and not just a larger iPhone.
