Apple has shown off just how fast users can send features and add Reminders with macOS Tahoe's Quick Keys — but using them and setting them up takes a few steps.


There's no ignoring that Apple's updates to Spotlight in macOS Tahoe are familiar to users of apps like Raycast and Alfred. But there's also no denying that the new features are very useful — and also fast.

Chief amongst those, in Spotlight at least, is the new addition of Quick Keys. The idea is that when you commonly repeat the same task, you can set it up so that you just type a couple of letters to start it going.

Apple just gave the Share Sheet in iOS 26 a much-needed cleanup, and your thumbs will be thankful.


Apple has refined the iPhone share sheet in iOS 26, showing fewer actions up front to make the interface feel lighter and easier to use. Instead of hitting you with every possible option right away, it now presents a short, focused list tailored to what you're most likely to use.

You can still swipe up or tap "More" to reveal everything else. Nothing has been removed. But the default view feels calmer, less like a filing cabinet dumped onto your screen.

Two decades ago, Steve Jobs made a dent in the world with a moving and sensational commencement speech to Stanford graduates. You can now watch it in HD.


On June 12, 2005, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs took to the stage in front of Stanford's graduating class and gave a 15-minute speech. One that would become one of the most influential and impactful speeches to graduates in living memory.

To commemorate the event's 20th anniversary, the Steve Jobs Archive has re-released footage of the speech. The video, published to YouTube on Thursday, has been enhanced in resolution, so it now plays back at 1080p and 60 frames per second via the streaming service.

A new report breaks down issues from Apple Intelligence to tariffs, and says the problems are insurmountable. Why the report ignores the solutions Apple has always used effectively, we have no idea.


Apple most certainly faces problems with Trump's tariffs and how they change at whim-speed, it definitely has foes including the European Commission, and at least some unhappy developers. A new report from Bloomberg claims that the company is currently facing ten major issues, and that there are no clear steps the company can take to address them.

Apple has made the Photos app less of a mess in iOS 26, with iPhone users also able to convert 2D images into Spatial Photos from their device.


Whenever Apple makes changes to the Photos app, it always provokes a reaction from iPhone users. Sometimes that reaction is positive, but occasionally it can be overwhelmingly negative.

As it does seemingly every year, Apple has introduced new features with iOS 26 and macOS 26 that target existing third-party apps. Here's what got hit at 2025's WWDC.


It's a historical aberration to keep calling it Sherlocking — the name comes from 2001 when Apple updated its Sherlock search app to include features from a developer's app called Watson. In that case, Watson was destroyed, and a term was born.

It does stick, though. When a Mac user says it, you automatically know what they mean, and what the topic is about.

Apple Vision Pro gains PlayStation VR2 Sense controller support with visionOS 26, and it will open up a wide array of possibilities when developers get on board.


Rumors have been floating around for a while that Apple would allow third-party VR controllers to connect to Apple Vision Pro. That feature was finally announced as a part of visionOS 26, and it's working in the first developer beta.

However, the way Apple has everything built into the OS, there's not much to do with the controllers just yet. They work similarly to regular game controllers for now.

Thread is an IP-based wireless protocol that connects primarily smart home devices around the home. The devices create a self-healing mesh network that can be more reliable in the outskirts of your home than Wi-Fi.

In an unlikely corporate alliance, Disney and Universal are suing Midjourney for turning iconic characters like Yoda, Shrek and Iron Man into hundreds of thousands of AI-generated graphics without permission or payment.


Disney and Universal Pictures are taking AI startup Midjourney to court, accusing it of mass copyright infringement for training its image generator on the studios' most recognizable characters. In a joint lawsuit filed Wednesday in federal court, the studios accuse Midjourney of building its business on unauthorized use of their most valuable characters.

The two studios are rarely on the same side. Disney and Universal have long competed for box office dominance and theme park visitors, but they now share a common goal.

The immense spending on Apple TV+ projects like "F1" is less about selling more iPhones to the public, and more about the art itself, according to CEO Tim Cook.


Apple TV+ is well known as a well-heeled video streaming service, with Apple losing over a billion dollars per year on it. The approach, which enables high-budget shows to be produced for the streaming platform, puts it at a par with others like Netflix, if not with the subscriber count.

The approach could be considered an extreme marketing exercise, trying to increase the sale of connected items like the iPhone and Macs. There's also speculation that a success with "F1""F1" could result in Apple securing the U.S. rights to the sport for the 2026 season.

In an ambiguous post today, President Donald Trump noted that he's close to a deal with China, that's still worse for Apple and the US economy than what was in place before his April tariff program launch.


On Wednesday, Trump took to Truth Social to announce that the U.S. and China were in the process of completing tariff negotiations. According to Trump, the US will receive 55% tariffs, while China will receive 10%, pending approval from both parties.

As part of the deal, China will supply magnets and rare earth materials. In exchange, the U.S. will continue to allow Chinese students to attend American colleges.

Apple is expanding the management options in its parental controls, simplifying Child Accounts in iOS 26 while also protecting their age when sharing details with apps.


Apple already has extensive parental controls built into its products, but it continues to be the target of complaints from critics that it needs to do more. In iOS 26, macOS 26 Tahoe, and its other operating system updates, Apple is doing just that.

Apple's iOS 26 update turns album covers into full-screen animations that move while your music plays.


With iOS 26, Apple Music users can tap the album art on the Lock Screen to expand it. If the track includes animated artwork, the image starts moving in real time.

It's true that the Liquid Glass redesign is less than revolutionary, but at least with macOS 26, with it, Apple is making users be more productive.


Maybe it's just because it is ridiculous how quickly you get used to a new macOS. But a couple of days after Apple made it sound incredibly new and different, macOS Tahoe visual differences seem small, yet still useful.

Just as with iOS 26, it's possible to say that the Liquid Glass redesign is putting a new surface on the Mac without fundamentally changing anything. Yet the visual design is deeply part of what productivity benefits have come with macOS Tahoe.

WhatsApp and U.S. lawmakers on both sides are rallying behind Apple's stand against the controversial UK demands to weaken encryption across the board.

Rioters have run through Apple Tower Theatre in downtown Los Angeles, smashing windows and stealing iPhones, during protests over immigration raids.


Apple Tower Theatre is an historic Los Angeles building that was formerly a theatre, abandoned in the 1980s. Apple turned it into an Apple Store in 2021, preserving its architecture and also making it a classical music venue.

According to local news station KTLA, a fourth night of anti-ICE protests on June 10, 2025, included rioters breaking into the Apple Store. Reportedly, iPhones, Apple Watches, MacBook Pro, and chargers were stolen, while "No ICE" and other slogans were spray-painted onto the damaged glass.

Apple has released new design resources following the introduction of its new operating systems, helping app developers work on the appearance of apps for iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe 26.


The Apple Design Resources page within the Apple Developer website is intended as a way to help developers create apps that fit in with the designs of its operating systems, including its new Liquid Glass aesthetic. The resources provide design templates, color guides, UI elements, and even icon production guides, all to perfect the app's appearance.

Updated on June 9, Apple has updated the list of resources on the page to reflect the new OS releases. For iOS 26 and iPadOS 26, it has released a library for the Sketch design tool, as well as an app icon template for Sketch, Photoshop, and Illustrator.

Apple TV+ has released a new trailer for the "F1" Brad Pitt movie, which uses haptics to make iPhones shake as cars zoom by.

In 2025, Apple slapped a new coat of paint on its operating systems at WWDC and called it good — but perhaps there was a chance that it actually had planned something entirely different.


WWDC 2025 was certainly one of the more subdued I've personally seen. Granted, I am admittedly one of the newer Mac users to AppleInsider staff — I made the switch in 2019.

But even in 2019, we had all the excitement of a new operating system: iPadOS. This change would ultimately cement the iPad as its own thing, and not just a larger iPhone.

The new Apple Projected Media Profile expands what video formats work with visionOS, increasing the content library and making inbound headset releases more attractive to consumers.


One of the features of Apple Vision Pro is the ability to enjoy content that you wouldn't necessarily be able to view on a normal screen. For the headset, this has so far included 2D and 3D content, Spatial footage, and Apple Immersive Video, but Apple is making more video formats available for people to use.

Announced during the WWDC 25 Platforms State of the Union, the changes to visionOS 26 include a new addition called the Apple Projected Media Profile (APMP). With APMP, visionOS now supports content produced in 180-degree, 360-degree, and wide field-of-view formats.

At WWDC, the iPhone maker revealed its latest assortment of operating systems, all of which bear the same "26" version number and design language, dubbed 'Liquid Glass'. The first developer betas of iOS 26 and its counterparts were rolled out shortly after the keynote, and a surprising discovery has since been made.

iOS 26 features an explicit mention of the as-of-yet unreleased AirPods Pro 3, alongside the current AirPods Pro 2 and original AirPods Pro. This is the second time this has happened, as an Apple software release on May 15 included the phrase "AirPods Pro 2 or later."

The iOS 26 Camera app overhaul is one for content creators, simultaneously streamlining the UI while also making managing formats and resolutions less frustrating.

Apple software chief Craig Federighi confirmed Monday that promised artificial intelligence upgrades to Siri have been delayed, saying the company needs more time to meet quality standards before launching the features in iOS 26.


In a WWDC 2025 interview with YouTuber iJustine, Federighi said the new Siri features were working internally but didn't perform well enough to ship.

Apple originally previewed major Siri upgrades at WWDC 2024, including more natural conversations, richer contextual understanding, and the ability to perform multi-step actions. At the time, many of those features were expected to ship in 2025.
