Becky Pepper-Jackson, who sued to join her middle school’s girls’ cross-country team when she was 11, asserted that her state’s statute violates Title IX.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday will hear a case that could affect laws in 27 states that bar transgender athletes from joining girls’ and women’s sports teams.
“I want to be able to play on the team with my friends, and that’s all I’ve wanted to do,” said Becky Pepper-Jackson, who is challenging the West Virginia law.
