Stardew Valley update 1.7 officially announced
Stardew Valley is easily one of the biggest indie success stories ever, with the 2016 farming sim currently sitting as one of the best-selling games of all time at over 41 million copies sold. Despite being almost a decade old, the game has continued to receive major updates on a semi-regular basis – with developer ConcernedApe having now announced update 1.7.
Following an initial announcement at the recent Stardew Valley Concert, developer ConcernedApe took to Twitter to confirm that the game is set to receive another major update in the form of 1.7 – writing:
“Okay, I revealed this at the concert last night and now the cat's out of the bag, so I will confirm for everyone: There will be a Stardew Valley 1.7 update. No release date, no estimate. But it's happening.”
For context, update 1.6 arrived back in March of 2024, and so the announcement of another update came as a welcome surprise.
That said, alongside Stardew Valley updates, ConcernedApe has also been working on their upcoming follow-up game ‘Haunted Chocolatier’, which was announced back in 2021.
Fortunately, unlike the previous 1.6 update, it seems as though the upcoming 1.7 release should not hinder development on Haunted Chocolatier – with the dev saying as much in response to one fan’s request.
Stardew Valley’s 1.x updates have all been pretty substantial, with the ‘smaller’ 1.6 patch bringing in hundreds of changes alongside new festivals and events; a new mastery system; a new farm type; tons of new dialogue; and dozens of new items – to name a few.
As such, while we currently know next-to-nothing about Stardew Valley’s 1.7 update, expect it to be quite substantial.
KitGuru says: Are you surprised that Stardew Valley is getting another update? When do you think Haunted Chocolatier will finally release? What will be the last major Stardew update? Let us know down below.

Back in May, Microsoft/Xbox officially unveiled the previously-rumoured Gears of War: Reloaded – a remake of the 2006 classic which was being brought over to current-gen systems as well as PlayStation consoles for the first time. Just a couple days following its 26th of August release and Gears of War: Reloaded has officially surpassed 1 million players.
Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Gears of War page wrote the following: “Ending the console war, one grub at a time. Thank you for 1 million players.”
Of course, 1 million players does not equate to 1 million copies sold, especially as Gears of War: Reloaded was a day-one Xbox Game Pass addition.
Still, it’s safe to assume that a solid number of said players hail from PlayStation – especially given that Gears of War sits alongside Halo and Forza as the three pillars of Xbox’s first-party identity; making it an enticing proposition.
As of writing, Gears of War Reloaded is situated as the 5th best-selling game on PS5 currently, only behind MGS Delta, Fortnite, NBA 2K26 and EA Sports FC 26. That said, the best-selling list fluctuates on a regular basis based on various factors, and so its current position should be taken with a pinch of salt.
Given how Microsoft stopped sharing full sales data years ago, we’re unlikely to learn of the exact platform breakdown between PlayStation, Xbox and PC. Still, based on rudimentary data, it seems as though Gears of War: Reloaded is off to a solid start.
KitGuru says: Did you pick up Gears of War: Reloaded? What platform are you playing on? How many units do you think it sold so far on PlayStation? Let us know down below.

The Yooka-Laylee duology are a series of throwback platformers, harkening to the days of the Nintendo 64 and PSOne mascot titles. Originally released for the 8th-generation of consoles, Playtonic announced last year that a remake of the first game was in the works. Known as Yooka-Replaylee, the current-gen remake/remaster has now gotten an official release date – set to launch early next month.
Making the announcement via a Release Date Trailer, the team at Playtonic officially confirmed that “Yooka-Replaylee leaps into action on October 9th, 2025.”
Launching across all current-gen systems (including the Switch 2), this ‘reimagined’ release brings with it “double the content, a bunch of thoughtful upgrades and loads of brand-new surprises,” including but not limited to:
- Art and animations overhaul
- Improvements to existing in-game challenges and many entirely new challenges
- New collectible currency
- A brand-new world map and challenges tracker
- New, game-changing tonics
- A new tweaked move set
- Orchestral arrangement of the original soundtrack
Despite the pretty substantial overhaul to many of its mechanics, Playtonic have confirmed that current owners of the original Yooka-Laylee can purchase Replaylee for a discounted cost – setting you back $20.99 instead of the full $29.99 (30% off). It is worth noting however that said upgrades are only available within each respective console ecosystem; meaning Switch to Switch 2, PS4 to PS5 etc…
The original Yooka-Laylee showed a ton of promise when it arrived back in 2017. Unfortunately, the game wound up feeling somewhat incomplete – especially compared to 3D collectathon platformers of old. That said, with the excellent Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair now also under their belt, Playtonic looks set to give the 3D collectathon another go.
KitGuru says: What did you think of the original Yooka-Laylee? Are you looking forward to this reimagining? What were the first game’s biggest issues? Let us know down below.

Borderlands 4 marks the next major entry in the long-running looter shooter series, with the progenitor of the sub-genre set to launch their successor in just under two weeks’ time. While the game already features plenty of content to look forward to on day-one, the team at Gearbox have now detailed the post-launch roadmap for Borderlands 4.
During their recent PAX West show, 2K/Gearbox officially unveiled their post-launch plans for Borderlands 4, revealing a mix of both free and paid content.
In the immediacy following its launch, Borderlands 4 will get a couple of free content updates, including the Seasonal Horrors of Kairos event; new Legendary weapons; new cosmetics and additional weather variants.
Between launch and the end of the year, Borderlands 4 will also get another free update adding invincible bosses; an additional Ultimate Vault hunter Mode level and of course more Legendary weapons.
Rounding off the free content will be the addition of Pearlescent weapon rarities in Q1 of 2026. In amongst all this Gearbox will also release weekly challenge missions, boss fights and more.
In terms of paid DLC, Borderlands 4 is confirmed to be getting at least two Bounty Packs and a Story Pack. The first Bounty pack arrives shortly following launch and will include:
- New Missions and Boss
- New Legendary Gear
- Two dozen cosmetics
- New Vault hunter Style
- New Echo skin
- 1 new vehicle
Bounty Pack 2 meanwhile will arrive early next year, bringing with it much of the same, aside from the replacement of a new Vault Hunter Style with a player skin instead (meaning you’ll also get two dozen cosmetics; new missions; a new boss; legendary gear and the like).
Last but certainly not least, Story Pack 1 (Mad Ellie and the Vault of the Damned) will also arrive some time in Q1 2026 and is set to bring with it:
- A new Vault Hunter
- New main story missions
- New map zone
- New side missions
- New Legendary gear
- 20 new cosmetics
As was the case with Borderlands 3, Gearbox seems to have quite a lot planned for BL4’s post-launch, with the game set to receive even more post-launch support after Q1 of 2026 – including but not limited to:
- Two more Bounty Packs
- One more Story Pack
- Invincible bosses
- “And More.”
All in all, the long wait for Borderlands 4 seems to be worth it, with the game set to feature tons of content and hopefully plenty of replayability. If nothing else, it’s nice to see that Borderlands 4 will be getting two whole new Vault Hunters post-launch.
KitGuru says: Are you excited for Borderlands 4? How much do you think the DLC packs will cost? Which of the announced updates/DLC are you most looking forward to? Let us know down below.

I've been intrigued by the third major release from Montreal-based developer Rogue Factor, Hell is Us, ever since I first saw its debut in 2022. The teaser trailer didn't give away much, and frankly, there's a lot about that original trailer that looks very different now, even if I can look back on it and recognize what every element of it refers to now that I've hit credits on it days ahead of its full release. But I've kept the game in the back of my mind for years now, which has its own layer of expectation building, even though […]

LG details the UltraFine 32U990A – world’s first 6K Thunderbolt 5 monitor
It looks like the wait for LG's next-generation professional display is almost over. The LG UltraFine 32U990A, which was first announced back at CES, is now rumoured to be launching in September. This monitor is set to be the world's first 6K display to feature Thunderbolt 5 connectivity, making it highly anticipated for creative professionals, especially those in the Mac ecosystem.
As shared by TFT Central, the 32U990A is a 32-inch Nano IPS Black panel, boasting a 6K resolution (6,144 x 3,456). The display is specifically designed for colour-critical work, with claimed coverage of 99.5% of the Adobe RGB and 98% of the DCI-P3 colour gamuts. It's also VESA DisplayHDR 600 certified, with a typical SDR brightness of 450 nits, and supports hardware calibration.

The Thunderbolt 5 connection offers a single-cable solution, delivering a full 6K 60Hz video signal, high-speed data transfer, and up to 96W of power delivery. Standard HDMI and DisplayPort connections will also be included for wider compatibility. The monitor is housed in a four-sided, borderless chassis with a circular stand. The stand itself is fully ergonomic, offering height, tilt, and swivel adjustments, as well as the ability to pivot 90º into a vertical orientation.
Following its win of multiple design and innovation awards earlier this year, the LG UltraFine 32U990A is rumoured to be released in September.

In 2022, Sony officially announced PlayStation Stars. Not to be confused with the ill-fated mascot platformer from the PS3 era PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale (which itself should not be confused for the all-star PlayStation characters available in Fortnite’s Battle Royale), PS Stars was an interesting take on a customer loyalty program. Though in many ways a simple marketing tool to get PlayStation users to try, buy and play new games, the program did offer a slight twist in that members could earn and collect digital models of various PlayStation-related memorabilia.
Three years and a couple outages later, Sony officially announced that PlayStation Stars would be shutting down this November. In its few years of service, the program neither grew nor evolved – and as such will die out being just another failed half-baked idea (as PS Home was a couple generations ago). While there were few who even knew the service existed, and fewer still who enjoyed it, I will be sad to see PlayStation Stars go away; not because of what it was, but due to what it could have been.
Like I mentioned, PlayStation Stars lived and died as a highly niche service, so for all those unfamiliar, what exactly is/was PlayStation Stars? Announced back in July of 2022, PS Stars was described by Sony themselves as “a brand new loyalty program that celebrates you, the player, for being on this ever growing gaming journey with us” in which you would be able to “earn rewards by completing a variety of campaigns and activities” such as being “the first player to platinum a blockbuster title in your local time zone.”
Completing these time-limited challenges would get you a certain amount of digital currency which you could then exchange for select games, PSN Store credit or – the big ‘innovation’ – digital collectibles. Alternatively, some challenges simply rewarded you directly with said collectibles.
For a bit of fun historical context, even ahead of its launch PS Stars ran into some issues. Though fortunately a mostly-forgotten part of modern history, the announcement of PlayStation Stars came about around the same time as the rise in NFTs – leading some to fear that Sony was heading in that direction. Thankfully, this was not the case, and these collectibles existed solely for the joy and pleasures of collecting.
On paper, PlayStation Stars sounds like a fun and welcome addition, and in many ways it was! Without burying the lead however, there are plenty of reasons as to why the service is shutting down – and mostly deservedly so. That said, as a concept PlayStation Stars was a beneficial service to both PlayStation and its players.
The discontinuation of PlayStation Stars comes as a bit of a surprise, not due to the merits of the service itself, but due to the fact that PS Stars served as a marketing tool for PlayStation.
Of course, there's the argument that it’s difficult to market to an audience that does not exist, but for the few that did use PlayStation Stars, Sony had an extra layer of influence on them. While the rewards were unlikely to be worth it to many, those who engaged with the service were willingly subjected to additional marketing (such as “buy X new game to get this digital collectible / currency”) as well as cross-promotions with Sony’s other products (“the new Venom film is coming out so here’s a digital model of the character“).
These two are mere examples, but the real-world equivalents functioned pretty much in this exact same way.
Beyond the promotions, PS Stars benefited Sony themselves in other ways. Though somewhat harder to quantify, the service used the ever-common trick of giving players a unique digital currency which could then be traded out for real store credit (or the aforementioned digital collectibles).
As with all such currencies however, the real stickiness of them is in the fact that you’ll almost always have a couple digital points left over – not enough to redeem them for anything, but enough to make you want to use them. Fortunately, in this instance you can’t go out and buy PlayStation Stars points for real money, but it did mean you were more likely to engage with the service once you’ve got some points in the bank.
The final benefit which PlayStation Stars could have afforded Sony was in cultivating a greater and more dedicated fanbase. As a brand, PlayStation is established and liked enough for many to go out there and buy merch of various PlayStation IPs. From The Last of Us; to Horizon; God of War; Astro Bot; Spider-Man; Ratchet and Clank; and dozens more.
Beyond this, the most dedicated fans even attune themselves to PlayStation outside of the games itself. And so, while it certainly feels self-serving, the final element of potential in PlayStation Stars was in creating and maintaining that Nintendo level of fandom.
I personally will forever hold the Jim Ryan digital bobble head which Sony offered following his retirement close to my heart.
In all seriousness, while PlayStation Stars was of course a vehicle for Sony to advertise more to fans of the platform, the service did also directly benefit PlayStation players. Though we already touched upon some of them briefly, PS Stars was a free service which catered to different parts of the PlayStation audience.
For those who find pleasure in the sheer act of collecting, PS Stars had you covered. Despite their digital nature, the collectibles came in different forms with different rarities, and seemed to have genuine effort put into their designs. As mentioned, you had the various bobble heads for different PlayStation executives. You could also obtain high-quality character models based on first and 3rd-party IPs. Some functioned more as mini dioramas with both characters and environments present.
Last and certainly least, you could also obtain digital pin-badges – all of which could then be organised and placed on your ‘display case', feeding into the inherent joys of collecting.
Those that wanted more tangible rewards were also looked after. As mentioned, you could trade out your PS Stars points for different PlayStation Store offerings – including just straight up ‘purchasing’ PlayStation Store wallet funds. Though a somewhat slow grind, in the 3 years of its existence members could have obtained a pretty substantial sum of wallet funds, making those £70 games a bit of an easier pill to swallow.
To be reductionist for a moment, PlayStation Stars was ultimately a loyalty program; something which the console maker has lacked for generations now; and so its existence was a net positive.
All that said, the service itself was a half-baked and ill-conceived idea which fell so far short of its potential that its discontinuation was only a matter of time. By far the biggest misstep with PS Stars was in limiting it to the smartphone-based PlayStation app – meaning it was not only more awkward to access, but its digital rewards felt less tangible.
Despite the harsh limitation placed upon PS Stars, the service remained buggy throughout its entire life cycle. While nothing majorly breaking, viewing your various collectibles was not only a slow endeavour, but an unfulfilling one, with the available shelf being cheaply-made, ugly, static and flat. Again, the models themselves look good and are certainly high quality, but aside from clicking on a statue and seeing its rotate slowly there's nothing you can do with them. Hell, you can’t even properly view them, being limited to a small window on your phone’s screen with no ability to zoom, pan or anything else.
In addition, the challenges themselves wound up being much less exciting than promised, with the most creative ones simply requiring you to unlock a basic trophy from a specific game.
Things could have been so very different. And we know this because Sony themselves have previously made an enticing and addicting digital collectible system in Astro’s Playroom.
Of course, I wasn’t expecting PlayStation Stars to give us a fully explorable room featuring all of my various collectibles, but having a bit more personality would’ve been nice.
Instead of a boring JPEG of a shelf which is confined to a submenu on the PlayStation app, PS Stars could have been a dedicated third tab on the PS5 home page, in which you could easily access and view your 3D rendered shelf featuring all your various collectibles. Instead of being a cut-out of the model, the shelf could feature the actual character models – perhaps even performing some basic animations such as waving or jumping when you hover over them.
If you wanted to inspect your rewards more closely, you could then ‘pick up’ the model, allowing you to rotate it, zoom in and out, pan, scan and whatever else you’d like. As with Astro’s Playroom, the models could also include a small description of the game, its release year, and whatever other small titbits the devs want to add.
I mentioned PlayStation Home earlier for a very particular reason. Like the ill-fated PS3 social hub, PlayStation Stars showed plenty of promise, and very well could have been its own niche within the community – similar to the Trophy hunters among us. Unlike PS home either, PlayStation Stars is a single player experience, meaning there is little upkeep or server costs, and the service itself would not have needed to evolve to stay relevant.
Throughout my time as a PlayStation Stars member, I managed to claim quite a few cool collectibles. Alongside a couple instances of £5 PS Store coupons, I also managed to obtain digital collectibles of Eve from Stellar Blade; Sonic the Hedgehog; Venom; Clank (of Ratchet and Clank fame); Gemma from Monster Hunter Wilds; a white base PS4; a PS4 Pro; a Clicker from The Last of Us – and of course my prized possession – the bobble heads of Jim Ryan and Shuhei Yoshida.
As it stands, all these and more are currently stuck in a laggy, slow and ugly “display case” which takes ages to load properly – and when it does, looks wholly unattractive. The PlayStation Stars display case is a genuine embarrassment and so I understand why Sony has decided to end the service. As discussed however, things could have been quite different.
Given enough time, effort and development on a proper service which sits prominently as a 3rd tab next to the ‘Games’ and ‘Media’ options on the PS5 home menu, and Sony could have had a loyalty program; a new achievement system to sit alongside Trophies; and a cool new PS5 exclusive software feature all wrapped up into one.
Unfortunately, something like this is only worth doing if you do it right…and Sony did things very very wrong. And so, come the end of PlayStation Stars next year, I won’t be mourning what we have lost, but I will always think about what could have been – and it could’ve been SO GOOD!

Lenovo is no stranger to experimental laptop designs, and it looks like they have another one up their sleeve for the upcoming IFA trade show. A new leak has provided us with our first look at “Project Pivo”, a new laptop concept that features a detachable, rotatable display.
The leaked image, shared by Evan Blass (via Guru3D), shows a laptop with a display that can be lifted off its hinge and reattached vertically. A rotatable screen on a laptop is a compelling idea, offering a significantly better experience for tasks such as reading long documents, writing code, or scrolling through endless social media feeds.
This feature aligns with Lenovo's previous endeavours. The company has a history of pushing the boundaries of the laptop form factor, with recent examples including the dual-screen Yoga Book 9, the foldable ThinkPad X1 Fold, and the ThinkBook Plus, featuring a rollable, expanding display.
For now, “Project Pivo” is reportedly just a concept, with no immediate plans for a retail launch. However, it's worth remembering that the rollable ThinkBook also started life as a concept before becoming a real product a year later. Lenovo is expected to officially show off a prototype of Project Pivo at the IFA trade show in Berlin next month.

Microsoft has announced a long-awaited fix for poor audio quality when using Bluetooth headsets in Windows 11. In a new blog post, the company has announced that Windows 11 now supports Super Wideband Stereo Bluetooth LE Audio, enabling users to enjoy high-quality stereo sound and a clear microphone signal simultaneously.
For years, Windows users have been plagued by the limitations of the basic Bluetooth SBC audio codec, which automatically switches your headset to a low-quality, mono ‘hands-free' profile the moment the microphone is activated during a game or call. According to a blog post, the new update addresses this by implementing the modern LC3 audio codec as part of the Bluetooth LE Audio standard. This not only allows for stereo audio to be maintained during a Discord call or in-game chat, but it also dramatically improves the quality of your microphone, jumping from a muffled 8 kHz to a much clearer 32kHz sampling rate.
However, this isn't a magical software fix that will instantly upgrade your old gear. To take advantage of this new feature, both your PC's Bluetooth adapter and your headset itself must support the Bluetooth LE Audio standard and the LC3 codec. Microsoft notes that while some existing devices may receive driver and firmware updates to enable this, most new Windows 11 PCs and laptops are expected to launch with support for Super Wideband Stereo Bluetooth LE Audio.
You can check if your current setup is compatible by heading to your “Bluetooth & devices” settings in Windows 11 and looking for a toggle to “Use LE Audio”. If the option isn't available, your hardware doesn't currently support it.

Intel Nova Lake and Arrow Lake-refresh CPUs revealed in new leak
In recent years, shipping manifests have become an increasingly prominent source of new hardware leaks. Recently, Intel Arrow Lake and Nova Lake refresh CPUs were spotted being shipped, revealing the existence of a new 28-core Nova Lake-S CPU.
The first manifest shared by “X86 is dead&back” (via Videocardz) clearly shows an Arrow Lake-S refresh desktop processor, as indicated by the LGA 1851 it uses. Besides that, not much can be taken from the cargo description, only that it exists and that we might see it soon.
There were four entries on the shipping manifests mentioning the processor, all of which stated it had 28 cores. This is an interesting configuration, given that the current Arrow Lake-S flagship tops out at 24 cores (8 P-cores + 16 E-cores). This new chip is likely built on a similar 8P+16E core configuration as the Arrow Lake CPUs, but with the addition of 4 LP E-cores. If true, this would mark the first time these LP-cores have been brought to the desktop platform. As for what this 28-core chip is, based on previous reports and its core configuration, it should belong to the Core Ultra 5 series.
Intel Nova Lake processors are expected to arrive in late 2026, featuring up to 52 cores in a 16P + 32E + 4LP config and a 150W base TDP.

MSI has today raised the bar for esports displays with the announcement of the MAG 272QP QD-OLED X50, its first 27-inch QHD gaming monitor to feature a 500Hz refresh rate. This new display is built on Samsung's latest panel technology and is designed for competitive gamers who demand high motion clarity and low response times.
This monitor was first announced back in May, but Videocardz now reports availability of the MAG 272QP QD-OLED X50. The monitor uses a 3rd-gen Samsung QD-OLED panel, featuring 2560×1440 resolution, a 500Hz refresh rate, and a 0.03ms GtG response time. An extreme VESA ClearMR 21000 certification further underscores the focus on motion clarity, while the DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification ensures a good HDR experience and deep blacks. The 10-bit colour panel offers extensive colour coverage, handling up to 98% of Adobe RGB, 99% of DCI-P3, and 138% of sRGB, as well as a console mode (1080/1440p at 60/120Hz) with VRR support.

MSI is also introducing some significant firmware and software enhancements with this new model. Responding to user feedback on its OLED Care features, the company has updated the firmware to extend the mandatory pixel refresh interval, now allowing for up to 24 hours of uninterrupted use before a reminder is necessary. For those who want more brightness in HDR, a new “EOTF Boost” mode has been added, which is said to deliver a brighter image than the standard “Peak 1000 nits” setting under the same APL conditions.
The monitor comes with a height-adjustable stand with pivot, tilt, and swivel capabilities. If that's not enough, there's always support for VESA 100×100 monitor arms to enhance ergonomics further. For connectivity, there are two HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4a, a USB-C port with DP alternative mode and 15W of power delivery, and a 3.5mm audio jack.

Resident Evil Requiem is due out in February and Capcom is slowly revealing more details about the game and its development. While the previous two titles, Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village, have been first-person games, Requiem will add a third-person camera. The game director has now explained that this is to make the experience less intense after finding Resident Evil 7 to be too scary.
In a recent interview with GamesRadar, Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Requiem director, Koshi Nakanishi, said that in his view, Resident Evil 7 was “possibly too scary”, here is the full quote:
“Looking back at Resident Evil 7's first person perspective, I implemented that as a way to make it more immersive and scarier than ever before, which I think most you know media and players agreed it was an incredibly scary game, but it was possibly too scary. I think some people couldn't handle it and either couldn't finish or didn't even start it. And that's something that I look back on thinking that, you know, I want to make sure that people can enjoy this game.”
As a result of that reflection, Resident Evil Requiem will include an option to switch to a third-person camera. This is more in line with the classic Resident Evil games, which have brought in many new fans in recent years thanks to the popular remakes. With that said, the default setting is still first-person in Resident Evil Requiem, so you will have to make the conscious effort to change it.
Resident Evil Requiem will release for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on the 27th of February 2026.

In a statement (via VGC), Crystal Dynamics confirmed the layoffs, saying: “Today we made the very difficult decision to part ways with a number of our talented colleagues as the result of evolving business conditions. This decision was not made lightly. It was necessary, however, to ensure the long-term health of our studio and core creative priorities in a continually shifting market”.
This is the third round of layoffs at Crystal Dynamics over the last two years. The studio had been sold from Square Enix to Embracer Group before entering a new publishing agreement with Amazon Games for the next Tomb Raider.
Aside from Tomb Raider, Crystal Dynamics had been contracted by former Microsoft studio, The Initiative, to work on Perfect Dark. Microsoft cancelled Perfect Dark and shut down The Initiative just weeks ago but Crystal Dynamics does not specify this as the root cause behind the new layoffs. However, the studio does say that work on the next Tomb Raider remains unaffected by the new cuts. There is still no word on when the next Tomb Raider game will be revealed to fans.

KitGuru Says: If Tomb Raider had been far enough along to require a bigger team, a chunk of these jobs likely would have just moved over to the Tomb Raider team. Based on all of this, we would estimate that Tomb Raider is still in the early stages.

When Starfield was revealed to the world, Bethesda had also announced the game's first expansion, Shattered Space. That DLC released last year and while fans had anticipated new announcements this year, Bethesda has been quiet on the subject of new content. That changed this week, with a new Developer Insight video confirming new Starfield content.
The renewed buzz around a second Starfield DLC stems from a recent Developer Spotlight video released by Bethesda earlier this week. In the video, Starfield Lead Creative Producer, Tim Lamb, teased upcoming content for the game, saying: “We have some cool stuff coming, including free updates and features that players have been asking for, as well as a new DLC story”.
Lamb teased improvements to space gameplay, new game systems and “smaller delights”. In recent weeks, rumours have claimed that a new Starfield update will allow players to fly out of a planet's atmosphere, offering greater free roaming capabilities. Currently, leaving a planet in Starfield triggers a loading screen, and the number of loading screens throughout the game was a major point of criticism upon release.
MP1st claims to have heard from sources that the new Starfield DLC will be titled ‘Starborn', with plans to release in the first half of 2026. That title in and of itself could be a spoiler for newcomers to Starfield, as the base game campaign focuses entirely on the mystery surrounding the Starborn and for a good chunk of the game, the Starborn are merely teased without being named. This would be awkward for those coming to Starfield on new platforms, as rumours claim the game will be released next year for PS5 and potentially Nintendo's Switch 2 as well.

KitGuru Says: I really enjoyed Starfield but a lot of people have held off on playing the game in hopes of a Cyberpunk-style 2.0 overhaul. It sounds like we may get exactly that in the new year.

You may have thought that testing for Battlefield 6 had ended with the open beta a few weeks ago, but it turns out, EA still has more rounds of playtests on the way. Those who have signed up for Battlefield Labs are being called upon once again, this time to test out new Portal features, as well as an early version of the Server Browser – a highly requested feature following the open beta.
The next Battlefield Labs playtest will take place tonight for two hours – 7PM to 9PM CEST. As usual with Battlefield Labs, this is a closed test, so you will have to sign up and await an invite to get in. If you've already participated in a Battlefield Labs test, then you will automatically be enrolled in this one.
Initially, Battlefield 6 was not going to include a full server browser, a change from the tradition of past games. However, after fans made a strong case for the feature's inclusion, the development team began getting to work. This test will include a limited version of the Server Browser, trialled within the Portal, a community-focused game mode for custom matches and maps.
This playtest will also focus on the new player-hosted server feature, and new balance updates for weapons, vehicles and gadgets. Finally, Hardcore mode will also be tested during this session.
Battlefield 6 will launch for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on the 10th of October.
KitGuru Says: It is great to see the team focusing on the server browser so quickly. It is unclear if it will be ready for launch, but feedback from this test will likely go towards deciding whether or not it will be ready to ship.

It looks like the next major video game IP to get a Hollywood adaptation has been revealed. According to a new report, Paramount is currently in talks to secure the rights to Call of Duty.
In a newsletter for Puck News, Matthew Belloni, the former editorial director of The Hollywood Reporter and someone with proven connections to Hollywood Executives, Paramount is currently making a bid for the rights to Call of Duty. Following the massive success of Paramount's Sonic the Hedgehog films, Paramount is in prime position to take on another massive video game IP. In the past, Activision has expressed interest in producing a Call of Duty film previously, but no progress has been made over the past decade.
There are two sources backing up this story. Belloni has also previously reported that Paramount owner, David Ellison, has been seeking to make other video game adaptations as well. Notably, Ellison wants to create a Street Fighter film, pending a deal with rights holder Legendary Pictures.
It is unclear if a Call of Duty film would focus on any characters or storylines from the video games, or if it would go in a wholly original direction. No talent is attached to the film yet either, so there are a ton of details that still need to be ironed out.

Amazon Games reveals new MOBA ‘March of Giants’, opens up alpha sign-ups
Amazon Games has just revealed its next major project, a new free-to-play competitive title called March of Giants. Described as a 4v4 MOBA, the game is looking to put a new spin on the genre by having players control not just a powerful giant hero, but also an army of hundreds of troops on a dynamic battlefield.
Set in an alternate early 1900s world of magic and science, players will take control of giant heroes fighting in a large-scale conflict. Unlike traditional MOBAs, March of Giants will allow players to command large squads of soldiers. The game also features a “Battleworks” system, which enables players to construct tactical offensive and defensive structures in real time.
For those eager to get their hands on it, a closed alpha test is just around the corner, scheduled to run from September 2nd to September 10th. The alpha test will be conducted on Steam, but is currently limited to players in the US, Canada, and Mexico. Amazon has stated that they are specifically looking for experienced MOBA players to provide valuable feedback during this early phase.
Interestingly, the alpha will be subject to an NDA that prohibits any streaming or video capture, but participants will be allowed to discuss their experiences. So, while we won't see any gameplay footage, we can expect people sharing their impressions online once the test begins.
