Zotac GeForce RTX 5070 Solid Review

Par :W1zzard
5 septembre 2025 à 16:21
The Zotac RTX 5070 Solid is a great alternative to the NVIDIA Founders Edition. It comes at only a small price increase over MSRP, yet offers a good cooling experience with very quiet noise levels. Thanks to the compact dual-slot form factor it will fit into most cases easily.

Noctua will release its long-awaited AIO liquid cooler in 2026

5 septembre 2025 à 16:00

Noctua has just updated its public product roadmap, providing a clearer, albeit slightly delayed, timeline for its most highly anticipated products. While there have been a few more shifts, we now have a firm release window for the company's first-ever AIO liquid cooler.

The roadmap (via Tom's Hardware) shows the closed-loop liquid cooler is now officially scheduled to launch in the second quarter of 2026. The cooler is based on the Asetek G8 V2 platform but has been heavily customised by Noctua's engineers. These enhancements include the use of their new premium NF-A12x25 G2 or NF-A14x25 G2 fans, a custom pump-noise absorber, the high-end SecuFirm 2+ mounting kit, and a unique 80mm fan attachment on the pump block designed to provide direct airflow over the motherboard's VRMs.

On the air cooling front, the NH-D15 G2 chromax.black has been pushed back slightly from Q3 but is now slated to arrive in Q4 2025. Alongside it, Noctua is also expected to release the chromax.black versions of the NF-A14x25 G2(r) fans, allowing PC builders to create a complete cooling setup using Noctua's upcoming components.

The updated roadmap also indicates that the Noctua Editions of the Pulsar Feinman mouse and the Antec Flux Pro chassis have experienced a slight delay, as the company moved their release from Q4 2025 to Q1 2026. Lastly, in Q2 2026, Noctua plans to launch a new USB fan controller, a 140mm desk fan, and the Seasonic Prime PX HPD Noctua Edition PSU.

KitGuru says: Can Noctua mark its place in the AIO liquid cooler market as well as it did in the air cooling one?

Valve nears new hardware launch as Steam Frame trademark uncovered

5 septembre 2025 à 14:30

It looks like Valve may be preparing to re-enter the living room hardware space, as new trademark filings suggest the company is working on a new console. A recently discovered submission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) shows Valve has trademarked the name “Steam Frame”, and the description points directly to a spiritual successor to the original Steam Machine concept.

The evidence comes from two separate (1, 2) but related filings (via Reddit). The first one covers categories such as “computer hardware” and “streaming devices”, while the second is more specific, explicitly covering “computer game consoles” and “video game consoles”. Taken together, this strongly suggests the Steam Frame is not a peripheral but a standalone piece of hardware designed for gaming.

Assuming it will follow the same logic as the Steam Machines, the Steam Frame will be a dedicated, pre-built PC that boots directly into SteamOS. It would offer the same seamless, controller-first experience that has made the Steam Deck so successful, but optimised for your TV. It would be the realisation of the original Steam Machine dream, but this time backed by a much more refined version of SteamOS.

By leaving the portable form factor and its thermal constraints behind, a dedicated console could also house a significantly more powerful APU. This could enable Valve to target higher framerates and resolutions, which the Steam Deck is not designed for.

KitGuru says: A trademark filing is not a product announcement, and we should keep our expectations in check until we hear something official. However, this is the most concrete evidence yet that Valve is making a second attempt at establishing itself in the home console market.

Destiny 2 Renegades Expansion will be officially shown off next week

5 septembre 2025 à 13:30

Bungie is in a bit of an odd spot currently, with the future of Marathon sitting in limbo while Destiny 2 seemingly continues to haemorrhage players on a consistent basis. That said, Destiny 2 is still trucking along, with the team at Bungie announcing that their next expansion – Renegades – will be shown off early next week.

Making the announcement via BlueSky, the team at Bungie confirmed the date for their next developer livestream, writing: “Join us next Tuesday, September 9, at 9 AM PT as our development team previews Destiny 2: Renegades and the new Ash & Iron Major Update.”

For the uninitiated Renegades will mark the second major expansion for 2025, following on from July’s Edge of Fate. Ash and Iron meanwhile serves as the mid-season refresh for The Edge of Fate expansion. The former is set to launch later this December, with the latter set to go live in the immediacy following the livestream.

Destiny 2 Renegades

As mentioned, neither Bungie nor Destiny 2 are in the greatest of spots currently, with the game teetering on the edge of having its lowest concurrent player count ever on Steam (sitting at just 20k CCU). That said, Renegades will be one of Destiny 2’s more curious expansions as it is being developed in partnership with LucasFilms, giving the expansion a heavy dose of Star Wars iconography.

Whether this will be enough to entice players to return, we will have to wait and see. That said, Bungie will need to offer more than just a Star Wars themed paint-job with the Renegades expansion if they wish to revive Destiny 2. We won’t have to wait long to find out what Bungie is planning.

KitGuru says: What are your thoughts on Destiny 2 in 2025? Can Renegades save the game? What do you think of the recent Light Level changes? Let us know down below.

ASUS ROG Strix XG27UCS Review (Budget 4K/160Hz IPS)

5 septembre 2025 à 12:35

Today's monitor may not be the newest kid on the block given it launched last year, but recent price cuts mean it is now offering a high refresh-rate 4K IPS panel for just a smidge over £300. I'm talking about the ASUS ROG Strix XG27UCS, which also packs in a claimed 1ms response time, HDMI 2.1 connectivity and adaptive sync support. Let's see how it performs at this attractive price point.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown officially exceeds 3 million players

5 septembre 2025 à 12:00

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was one of Ubisoft’s more underrated titles in recent years, with the side-scrolling Metroidvania becoming the 2nd highest rated entry in franchise history. Unfortunately, sales for the game did not meet Ubisoft’s expectations, leading to the cancellation of a potential sequel. It seems as though Ubisoft may have jumped the gun a little bit, as Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has since gone on to be experienced by millions  – pushing total players past 3 million.

Making the announcement on Twitter, the official Prince of Persia page wrote the following: “Over 3 million Immortals have embarked on this epic journey through Mount Qaf. From every leap across deadly traps to every perfect parry, your skill has brought Sargon’s adventure to life. Thank you for being part of the Prince of Persia legend.”

As always, it is worth noting that 3 million players does not equate to 3 million copies sold, especially as Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was dropped onto PlayStation Plus Extra back in March.

The Lost Crown Prince of Persia

That said, prior to its PS Plus addition, the game was confirmed to have sold over 1.3 million copies – meaning it very well could be nearing 2 million copies SOLD by now.

Of course, until we hear it from the horse’s mouth, nothing is confirmed, and so as of right now all that can be stated is that Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown has officially exceeded 3 million total players. It will be interesting to see what player counts look like once The Lost Crown is inevitably removed from PlayStation Plus.

KitGuru says: What do you think of The Lost Crown? Is the game underrated? How many copies do you think it has actually sold so far? Let us know down below.

Netflix’s Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft concludes with Season 2 this December

5 septembre 2025 à 11:00

Since the launch of Shadow of the Tomb Raider back in 2018, the Lara Croft series has been relatively quiet – with its primary release in the years since being the animated Netflix show Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft. Following its release last year, the series was confirmed to be getting a second season. Unfortunately, it seems as though Lara Croft’s stint on Netflix will cease with the conclusion of Season 2 this December.

As reported by the publication Variety, Netflix’s Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft will officially conclude with the arrival of Season 2 on the 11th of December.

In case you missed it, the first Season launched back in October 2024 to pretty solid critic reviews – though a far less favourable user score.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider

Still, Haley Atwell has served as a solid voice actor for Lara Croft, and while it is a shame to see the show ending after just two Seasons, many Netflix projects barely make it past a single season. Hopefully Season 2 of Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft manages to end on a conclusive note.

The synopsis for Season 2 reads as follows: “When adventurer Lara Croft discovers a trail of stolen African Orisha masks, she joins forces with her best friend Sam to retrieve the precious artifacts. Lara’s thrilling new adventure takes her around the globe as she delves deeper into the hidden secrets of Orisha history, dodging the machinations of a dangerous and enigmatic billionaire who wants the masks for herself, while discovering these relics contain dark secrets and a power that defies logic. Power that may, in fact, be divine.”

KitGuru says: What did you think of the first Season? Did it scratch that Tomb Raider itch? Are you interested in Amazon’s live-action adaptation which is currently in the works? Let us know down below.

Hollow Knight: Silksong launches to over half a million concurrent players on Steam alone

5 septembre 2025 à 10:00

Following half a decade of hype, excitement and anticipation, Hollow Knight: Silksong has finally officially released. Given just how long fans have been waiting, it was clear that the indie title was going to have a massive launch. Even so, Silksong seems to be exceeding all expectations – having peaked at over half a million concurrent players on Steam alone within hours of its arrival.

With a peak concurrent player count of 535,213 users on Steam, Hollow Knight: Silksong is already one of the biggest games on the platform’s history CCU-wise, currently sitting as the 18th most played game ever on Steam – resting between the Battlefield 6 open beta (521,079) and Path of Exile 2 (578,569 players).

Hollow Knight Steam

Perhaps even more impressive however is the fact that upon its official launch at 2PM UK time yesterday, Silksong managed to break Steam; the Nintendo eShop; PSN and the Xbox Store – likely due in part to the game lacking any pre-orders (meaning fans were hammering each respective store as soon as the game went live).

It was recently announced that the original Hollow Knight had sold over 15 million copies since its arrival back in 2017. Given just how big Silksong’s launch appears to be, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the sequel hit 10 million copies within its first month.

Regardless, after 7 or so years of waiting, Silksong is actually finally officially here.

KitGuru says: Did you run into any issues trying to purchase Silksong? Were you expecting the launch to be this massive? How long do you think it’ll take Silksong to reach 15 million copies? Let us know down below.

Acer announces the world’s first Intel Panther Lake powered laptop

4 septembre 2025 à 18:00

In a presentation at IFA 2025 in Berlin, Acer has given us a glimpse into the future of thin-and-light laptops. The laptop manufacturer has revealed the new Swift 16 AI, the very first notebook to be powered by Intel's upcoming “Panther Lake” CPU architecture.

The Acer Swift 16 AI is powered by an Intel Panther Lake CPU, built on the company's highly anticipated 18A process node, paired with up to 32GB of LPDDR5X memory and Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. Moreover, the upcoming laptop features a high-resolution 16-inch, 3K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, along with some innovative features, all packed into a chassis that weighs less than a kilogram.

Another distinctive feature on display is the redesigned, oversized haptic trackpad, which supports active stylus input, enabling creatives to sketch or take notes directly on the large touch surface. This new, larger pad has prompted a redesigned chassis that still manages to come in at under 1 kg in certain configurations. The laptop doesn't skimp on connectivity either, offering two Thunderbolt 4 ports for high-speed transfer and docking, alongside USB-A, HDMI, and a microSD card slot.

While Acer is planning a more extensive showcase for CES 2026, the company confirmed that the Swift 16 AI is expected to launch before the end of this year.

Intel officially launches Arc Pro B50 graphics card

4 septembre 2025 à 17:30

Following its announcement at Computex 2025, Intel has officially released the new Arc Pro B50. This is the first workstation card based on the “Battlemage” architecture, and it's aimed squarely at the compact, small-form-factor professional market, where power and size are key considerations.

The Arc Pro B50 (via VideoCardz) is built on the “BMG-G21” silicon and features 16 of the new Xe2 cores. This is paired with a generous 16GB of GDDR6 memory running at 14 Gbps on a 128-bit bus, which provides a total of 224 GB/s of memory bandwidth. For AI workloads, Intel rates the card for a respectable 170 TOPS of INT8 compute performance.

The Arc Pro B50 features a board power of just 70W, which means it draws all of its power directly from the motherboard's PCIe slot, eliminating the need for external power connectors. The card itself is a dual-slot, low-profile design, making it ideal for SFF workstations. It connects via a PCIe 5.0 x8 interface and features four mini DisplayPort outputs, making it suitable for multi-monitor setups.

Intel has announced a suggested retail price of $349 for the card, which will be available both as a standalone product and in pre-built systems.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru says: Although it won't top performance charts, the Intel Arc Pro B50 appears to be worth considering if you're looking for an entry-level workstation card.

Acer unveils its new 720Hz OLED gaming monitor

4 septembre 2025 à 17:00

Acer is preparing to launch its own dual-mode OLED monitor with a 720Hz refresh rate. The new Predator X27U F8 is a 27-inch class QHD monitor built on the same next-generation panel technology as Asus ROG Swift OLED PG27AQWP-W, setting the stage for fierce competition at the very high end of the gaming display market.

Acer's press release describes the Predator X27U F8 as a 26.5-inch OLED panel (probably using LG's 4th Gen Primary RGB Tandem), featuring a 2560×1440 resolution, a native 540Hz refresh rate, 10-bit colour depth, and a claimed 0.01/0.03ms GtG response time. The panel is factory calibrated to a Delta E <1, and covers 99% of the DCI-P3 gamut, so image quality should be excellent. It is also expected to be VESA DisplayHDR 500 True Black certified, with a peak brightness of around 1500 nits.

For gamers who require every possible frame, the monitor also features a ‘dual-mode' option (DFR). This allows users to drop the resolution to 1280×720 and push the refresh rate to 720Hz, an interesting option for competitive players who prioritise speed above all else. The monitor supports AMD Freesync Premium Pro to provide a tear-free experience.

For connectivity, it features two HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 2.1, a 90W USB-C port with DP Alt Mode, and a built-in KVM switch. Additionally, it features two 5W speakers, a height-adjustable stand with pivot, tilt, and swivel capabilities, as well as VESA 100×100 wall mounting support. Acer is targeting a Q1 2026 release in the United States for $1,299, with a European launch to follow in Q2 for €1,199.

Discuss on our Facebook page, HERE.

KitGuru says: Are you considering a dual-mode gaming monitor for a future upgrade? The refresh rates are really starting to impress but to hit 720Hz, you'll also need some seriously high-end hardware to drive that kind of frame rate.

Voice actor confirms Batman Arkham Shadow sequel in development

4 septembre 2025 à 16:00

While we haven't had a new Batman Arkham game for PC and consoles in over a decade, the series has been living on in VR. Last year, Batman Arkham Shadow launched for Meta Quest VR headsets and now, it looks like a sequel is on the way.

Batman Arkham Shadow was one of the best VR games of 2024, offering a full campaign and access to many of Batman's usual gadgets. While not officially announced yet, a sequel has been confirmed to be in development by one of the main voice actors involved.

Batman Arkham Shadow

UploadVR spotted an interview conducted by Culture Combine, in which the voice actor for Commissioner Gordon, Mark Rolston, volunteered the information when responding to a somewhat unrelated question. Here is the full quote:

Culture Combine: “What's the difference between, I guess, Blade Runner and Spider-Man 2 as far as voice acting?”

Mark Rolston: “In the Blade Runner game, I was a voiceover, but for Spider-Man, I do complete Motion Capture, voice, and everything. Same thing with the Batman Arkham Shadow VR game. We're about to start another one of those. I play Commissioner Gordon”.

The new Batman Arkham VR games are developed by Camouflaj, the same studio behind Iron Man VR and Republique.

IO Interactive hits the brakes on third-party publishing after MindsEye flop

4 septembre 2025 à 14:30

MindsEye had a lot going for it pre-launch. The game was a new open-world shooter produced by former Rockstar alumni but the game launched in a rough state and ultimately flopped. Now, IO Interactive has spoken up about the project, which may have killed the company's future plans for publishing third-party games.

MindsEye was developed by Build a Rocket Boy, a new studio founded by former Rockstar producer, Leslie Benzies. However, IO Interactive acted as the publisher for this game. It was the first major third-party publishing deal at the company and because of the game's poor commercial and critical performance, IO is unsure if it will risk doing more publishing deals like this.

Speaking with IGN in an interview, IO Interactive CEO, Hakan Abrak, commented on the impact of MindsEye on the company's future publishing plans, saying:

“It was a tough reception. It wasn't what they hoped for, and also what we didn't hope for at IOI Partners. So, IO Interactive will publish our own games internally. IOI Partners? That remains to be seen.”

The statement leaves the door open for future deals but it is likely that IO will be more cautious moving forward with potential publishing deals outside of the games it develops in-house.

Marvel Rivals is officially coming to PS4; no Xbox One version in sight

4 septembre 2025 à 13:00

Yesterday we reported on a data mine which seemed to suggest that the current-gen exclusive live-service Hero Shooter Marvel Rivals would be coming to last-gen consoles as part of the game’s 4th Seasonal update. Sure enough, a PS4 version of Marvel Rivals has now been officially announced – though last-gen Xbox owners seem to be out of luck.

Making the announcement as part of their Season 4 content unveiling, the team at NetEase Games officially confirmed that Marvel Rivals will be landing on PlayStation 4 at the launch of Season 4; come the 12th of September.

Interestingly, it seems as though the only last-gen machine to receive such a backport is the PlayStation 4, with no word of an Xbox One X|S release.

While the lower-powered Xbox One S is technically inferior to the PS4 hardware-wise, the decision to not ship on Xbox is likely more to do with each system’s total user base.

Though Microsoft has not shared any sales data for a couple generations now, the PS4 is confirmed to have sold over 117 million units.

Even if every single PS5 console was purchased by a PS4 owner (which we know isn’t the case), there would still remain a solid 40 million or so PS4s out there which Marvel Rivals could be installed on.

Of course, amongst all this is the question of performance, especially with Rivals utilising many Unreal Engine 5 features. We will have to wait and see when Season 4 officially arrives in a little over a week’s time.

KitGuru says: What do you think of this port? Will they try to hit 60fps? Why do you think they’re skipping last-gen Xbox consoles? Let us know down below.

AVM FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro WiFi 7 Router Review

4 septembre 2025 à 12:37

AVM always likes to do things a little differently from other router manufacturers. Throughout the years, we've been impressed by the company's unusual features. The AVM FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro is the second WiFi 7 router we have seen from the company, adding a tri-band radio and direct connectivity for optical fibre broadband. But it still includes some of AVM's unique telephony abilities and, on paper at least, ups the bandwidth considerably over the 7690 router we looked at a few months ago.

The AVM FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro has a more angular design aesthetic than the AVM FRITZ!Box 7690 we looked at in January. The Pro nomenclature would imply this is more directly aimed at small businesses than homes, and indeed it does still offer DECT cordless telephony for up to six handsets. But there are still smart home features, primarily via support for Zigbee, a wireless standard for controlling smart home devices such as lightbulbs, roller blinds, temperature and motion sensors, smart plugs, and switches.

The headline features are the upgraded networking capabilities of the 5690 Pro. You're spoiled for choice for broadband connectivity. Not only is there a port for DSL and another for 2.5Gbit WAN/LAN, but also a third one for an SFP (small form-factor pluggable) module. In the box, you get AON and GPON optical options, depending on the kind of fibre home connection you might have. The tri-band WiFi has an aggregate bandwidth of 18,490Mbits/sec, divided into 11,530Mbits/sec at 6GHz, 5,760Mbits/sec at 5GHz, and 1,200Mbits/sec at 2.4GHz. The 7690 did not offer the 6GHz waveband. As well as WiFi 7, the 5690 also supports WiFi 6E, which more devices support already than 7. There are optional extras to create a mesh network, too.

There are wired RJ11 and German TAE analog phone ports on the back plus a four-port Gigabit Ethernet switch (albeit no faster LAN connections unless you don't use the WAN port for broadband). You also get a single USB 3.1 connection for media server storage or NAS options. All this comes in at well under £400, which is pricey for a router but not one with this range of features available. Read on to see how the promising specifications shape up in reality.

The AVM FRITZ!Box 5690 Pro is available from Amazon UK for £356.32 inc VAT.

Specification:

  • Wireless protocols: MU-MIMO with 802.11b/g/n/be 2.4GHz, 802.11a/n/ac/ax/be 5GHz and 6GHz
  • Performance: BE18490 (11,530 + 5,760 + 1,200 Mbits/sec)
  • Antenna Configuration: 4×4 internal antennas
  • Ports: 4 x Gigabit Ethernet, 1 x 2.5Gigabit Ethernet WAN/LAN, 1 x ADSL,  1 x SFP AON or GPON fibre optic, 1 x USB 3.1, 1 x RJ11 phone, 1 x TAE phone
  • Modem Support: Fibre, VDSL/ADSL 2+ or cable

007 First Light officially launches in March of next year

4 septembre 2025 à 12:00

Following its announcement earlier this Summer, the teams at IO Interactive and PlayStation held a State of Play dedicated to the upcoming 007 First Light. As part of this rather lengthy deep-dive it was officially confirmed that 007 First Light will arrive early next year – launching on the 27th of March 2026.

As part of the 007 First Light State of Play, it was officially confirmed that the upcoming espionage action-adventure title from IOI will launch on the 27th of March 2026.

Coming to all current-gen systems (including the Nintendo Switch 2), 007 First Light looks to follow in the freeform footsteps of IOI’s previous franchise HITMAN, while also upping the stakes with greater action set-pieces and driving sequences.

Unlike many AAA games released nowadays, 007 First Light will cost ‘just’ £60 – though there is of course a fancy Legacy Edition available to purchase which includes a Golden Gun Figurine, a certificate of authenticity and a slick steelbook case – among other miscellaneous extras.

Interestingly, all those who pre-order the game will receive the full suite of Deluxe Edition additions for free, including:

  • 4 exclusive outfits
  • 1 new weapon skin
  • The Gleaming pack featuring various golden accessories
  • 24 hours of Advanced Access

Finally, it is worth noting that Switch 2 owners wanting to purchase 007 First Light physically will be able to do so – however, as with many 3rd-party Switch 2 titles, the game will make use of the controversial Game-Key Card system.

Assuming this isn’t a dealbreaker, the Switch 2’s ‘Specialist Edition’ offers a couple exclusives in the form of “standout and unique packaging” (which is ruined by an ugly ‘Game-Key Card’ label) as well as “an exclusive original outfit for Bond, the Classic Tux, for even more flair.”

The full gameplay breakdown for 007 First Light can be found HERE.

Iiyama launches trio of super-sized gaming monitors starting at £250

4 septembre 2025 à 11:43

Iiyama has three new gaming monitors hitting the market this month, all hitting incredibly competitive price points. Better yet, these are all large screens, offering 32″ to 43″ panels.

The Iiyama G-Master Gold Phoenix GB3290QSU-B1and Red Eagle GB3271QSU-B2 are at the top of the list. Both are 32″ monitors with IPS panels, but the Gold Phoenix offers a 240Hz refresh rate and HDMI 2.1 for £319.99, while the Red Eagle has a lower 180Hz refresh rate and a lower £249.99 price tag to go with it. Both monitors have FreeSync Premium, so you can eliminate screen tearing too, as well as a 1ms response time, which is pretty much as fast as IPS monitors get.

The third monitor is for those who want an even bigger screen and 4K resolution. The Iiyama G-Master Red Eagle G4380UHSU-B2 has a 43″ VA panel with 4K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. This model has an even lower response time compared to the other two, offering 0.3ms MPRT. You also get HDMI 2.1, making this an ideal display for both PC gaming and current-gen consoles like the PS5, Xbox Series X/S and the Switch 2, all of which support a maximum 120Hz refresh rate.

All three monitors will be available through Amazon and other retailers in the UK starting in mid-September.

Marvel’s Wolverine will reportedly be shown off during September’s PlayStation State of Play

4 septembre 2025 à 11:00

Back in 2021, Insomniac Games officially announced that they were working on a brand new Marvel game, with the iconic Wolverine set to land on PlayStation 5 at some point in the console’s future. In the many years since, we’ve neither seen nor heard from the project officially. Finally however, it appears as though Insomniac Games are ready to show off what they’ve been working on – with an official unveiling for Marvel’s Wolverine reportedly set to take place later this month.

As claimed by known industry insider Tom Henderson (via Insider-Gaming), sources informed the leaker that Sony’s long-rumoured State of Play presentation will indeed take place sometime in September (echoing previous reports).

According to Henderson, the showcase is currently planned to go live “towards the end of September” and will include our first proper look at Insomniac’s Wolverine – with the sources stating that the highly-anticipated title will “almost certainly” be present at the event owing to the fact that “the production of its next trailer has now been completed.”

Insomniac Wolverine

Henderson did make sure to note that Wolverine isn’t guaranteed to be at the State of Play, claiming that “if the game doesn’t appear at State of Play, then the trailer will undoubtedly be released in the next few months, with The Game Awards being the next likely candidate.”

Of course, Insomniac did suffer a data breach back in 2023, in which a bunch of internal documents were leaked – including gameplay footage of the aforementioned Wolverine. Even so, it will be exciting to finally get an official look at Marvel’s Wolverine (hopefully) later this month.

KitGuru says: Are you looking forward to the September State of Play? Do you think we’ll get to see Wolverine finally? Did you manage to avoid the various spoilers which appeared following the data breach? Let us know down below.

Sophie Turner officially cast as Lara Croft in live-action Tomb Raider show

4 septembre 2025 à 10:15

Ever since the release of Shadow of the Tomb Raider back in 2018, the iconic Lara Croft has been in a bit of a state of limbo, with the biggest project to have been released being the animated Netflix show last year. That said, while we continue to wait for news on a new video game entry, Amazon’s previously-announced live-action TV show has made some significant progress – with the team having officially announced the casting for Lara Croft.

As confirmed by the publication Variety, Amazon’s live-action Tomb Raider series (which was first announced back in May of last year) has reached a significant development milestone, with the project having now found its Lara Croft in the form of Sophie Turner.

For the uninitiated, Sophie Turner is perhaps best known for having portrayed Sansa Stark in HBO’s Game of Thrones – though the actor also took on the role of Jean Grey in Fox’s ill-fated X-Men prequel film series.

Lara Croft Tomb Raider

Beyond Sophie Turner, Phoebe Waller-Bridge has been confirmed as the show’s creator, writer, and executive producer, with the mind behind Killing Eve and Fleabag commenting on the recent casting announcement:

“I’m so excited to announce the formidable Sophie Turner as our Lara alongside this phenomenal creative team. It’s not very often you get to make a show of this scale with a character you grew up loving. Everyone on board is wildly passionate about Lara and are all as outrageous, brave, and hilarious as she is. Get your artifacts out… Croft is coming…”

This will mark the 3rd live-action take on Tomb Raider, with Angelina Jolie portraying Lara Croft back in the early 2000s films – and Alicia Vikander tackling the role later on in the 2018 reboot. That said, this will be the first live-action TV show based on the IP, and so it will be interesting to see how the project is received when it eventually arrives on Amazon Prime.

KitGuru says: What do you think of this casting choice? Are you looking forward to the show? Let us know down below.

An Intel Nova Lake-S processor with 52 cores has leaked

3 septembre 2025 à 18:30

New details about Intel's next-generation desktop platform have just surfaced in a shipping manifest, giving us another glimpse at the upcoming “Nova Lake-S” architecture. The documentation mentions a 52-core CPU, likely the flagship of the series, as well as the 28-core variant that we previously reported on

The NBD manifest (via VideoCardz) explicitly lists the new socket as LGA-1954 and confirms its dimensions as 45 x 37.5mm. This is identical to the size of the current LGA-1851 socket used for Arrow Lake-S. While this doesn't mean the CPUs will be cross-compatible between the two sockets, the mounting mechanism could be the same, meaning it should support coolers designed for its predecessors. This is good news for anyone who has invested in a high-end air or liquid cooler for their current system and wants to update to a more recent CPU.

The appearance of the 52-core chip in the manifest corroborates earlier leaks. If those previous reports are accurate, this flagship CPU will feature a configuration of 16 P-cores, 32 E-cores, and an additional 4 LP E-cores on the SoC tile. The document also lists the 28-core variant that was spotted last week.

This leak is a strong indication that Intel's roadmap is on track for the 2026 launch of Nova Lake-S, which is set to be the desktop debut of the company's 18A process node. While the performance of the new architecture remains a mystery, the possible confirmation of cooler compatibility is a welcome development that will make the eventual upgrade path much smoother for enthusiasts.

KitGuru says: A 52-core CPU in the mainstream market is definitely interesting. However, we wonder how many users can actually take advantage of this many cores.

The latest Philips Brilliance monitor has specs to rival Apple Studio Display

3 septembre 2025 à 18:00

Philips has announced the launch of its new Brilliance 27E3U7903 monitor, a 27-inch 5K display that looks to be a direct competitor to Apple's Studio Display. With a similar high-resolution panel and a robust feature set, Philips aims to tempt creative professionals with a more reasonable price tag.

The new Brilliance 27E3U7903 monitor features a 27-inch 5K (5120×2880) IPS panel, providing an impressive 218 PPI. Built for colour-critical work, it covers 99.5% of the Adobe RGB and 99% of the DCI-P3 colour spaces. Additionally, it's ‘Calman Ready' for easy hardware recalibration and VESA DisplayHDR 600-certified, with a 2,000:1 contrast ratio and a typical brightness of 500 nits (peaks at 600 nits).

Connectivity is a major strong point and a key advantage over the competition. The monitor features two Thunderbolt 4 ports, providing a single-cable solution for video, data, and up to 96W of power delivery, as well as support for daisy-chaining a second display. It also functions as a full workstation hub, with a built-in KVM switch, a 1GbE LAN port, and an integrated 5MP Windows Hello-compatible webcam for secure logins. Moreover, the included Philips ‘SmartErgoBase' provides full ergonomic adjustment, including height, tilt, swivel, and a 90-degree pivot into portrait mode right out of the box.

The Philips Brilliance 27E3U7903 is set to launch in early September with a suggested retail price of just £849.

KitGuru says: Compared to the Apple Studio Display, which it seems to rival, the new Brilliance 27E3U7903 appears to be a much better deal.
