New benchmarks show close match between RX 9060 and RTX 5060

13 août 2025 à 18:20

The first independent benchmarks for AMD's recently launched Radeon RX 9060 have surfaced, giving us a glimpse at the performance of this OEM-exclusive graphics card. A South Korean outlet managed to get its hands on a Sapphire model, putting it through its paces to see how it stacks up against Nvidia's low-end RTX 50-series cards and AMD's XT model.

The results from Technosaurus (via VideoCardz) show the RX 9060 is a formidable 1080p performer, landing just 2% behind the GeForce RTX 5060 on average across a suite of games. This makes the two cards virtually indistinguishable in terms of real-world performance.

Against the lower-end RTX 5050, the RX 9060 storms ahead, offering over 20% more performance. Perhaps most surprisingly, the review shows the RX 9060 XT is only about 6% faster than the non-XT model. The tests were conducted with both an entry-level Ryzen 5 7500F (paired with RTX 5050) and a high-end Ryzen 7 9800X3D (with the RTX 5060 and RX 9060 XT).

The reviewer noted a few other interesting details. The Sapphire RX 9060 model is physically smaller than its XT counterpart, featuring a more compact custom cooler. It was also discovered that the card was already supported by older AMD drivers, suggesting it had been ready for launch for some time.

KitGuru says: Would you like to see the Radeon RX 9060 in the DIY market? If they were available in retailers, how do you think these graphics cards should be priced?

PUBG creator’s new survival game enters open beta

13 août 2025 à 18:00

Brendan ‘PlayerUnknown' Greene, the creative mind who kickstarted the entire battle royale genre with the Arma 3 mod PlayerUnknown's Battle Royale, followed by PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, is back with a very different kind of challenge. His new studio, PlayerUnknown Productions, has surprise-launched an open beta for its upcoming hardcore survival game, Prologue: Go Wayback!, and it's available to play right now.

Prologue sounds simple on paper. Your only objective is to survive the wilderness and find a weather station marked on your map. In practice, however, it's a brutal and unforgiving experience, as players must contend with sudden, extreme weather events like blizzards and thunderstorms, manage hunger and thirst, and navigate a massive 8×8 km map with nothing but a compass and a paper map. No waypoints or minimaps can help you, just like in real life.

The game's most ambitious feature is its technology. Every single time you start a new run, Prologue procedurally generates an entirely new and unique map. While the biome remains a vast, forested region inspired by real-world landscape data from Czechia, the layout of rivers, cliffs, cabins, and your final objective will be different every time.

After a period of relatively quiet, closed testing, the developer is now opening the doors to everyone. As first spotted by PCGamesN, Prologue has quietly entered open beta and is now free to download on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.

KitGuru says: Do you like hardcore survival games? Will you try out PlayerUnknown's new game during its open beta, or do you prefer to wait for the final release?

Razer launches new Wolverine V3 PC controller with 8K polling rate

13 août 2025 à 17:30

Razer has today unveiled its next generation of competitive controllers, the Wolverine V3 Pro 8K PC and the Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition 8K PC. As the names suggest, these new gamepads are aimed squarely at the esports scene, offering an 8000 Hz polling rate and new anti-drift thumbsticks.

Razer is launching two versions of the controller. The flagship is the Wolverine V3 Pro 8K PC, which Razer claims is its lightest wireless esports controller to date. For players who prefer a guaranteed zero-latency wired connection for tournament play, the Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition 8K PC offers all the same core performance features in a cabled-only format.

The headline feature for many will be the new TMR (Tunnel Magnetoresistance) thumbsticks. This is Razer's implementation of magnetic, non-contact sensor technology, similar to Hall Effect, which promises to eliminate the stick drift that has plagued traditional controllers for years while also providing consistent tension and precision for FPS and action games. Moreover, the new Wolverine V3 Pro boasts an 8000 Hz polling rate, a feature previously reserved for high-end gaming mice. This is available in both wired and wireless modes on the Pro model, drastically reducing input latency for near-instantaneous response times.

Beyond the new tech, the controller is loaded with customisable features. It includes six remappable buttons, of which four are on the back and the remaining two are extra “claw grip” bumpers. In addition, the “Pro HyperTriggers” can be switched on the fly from a full analogue pull to a short click. All customisation is done via Synapse 4. Lastly, the buttons and the 8-way floating D-pad use tactile microswitches with double-shot PBT caps.

The Wolverine V3 Pro 8K and Wolverine V3 Tournament Edition 8K are now available for €179.99/$199.99/€199.99 and £99.99/$119.99/€99.99.

KitGuru says: Knowing the prices, which Wolverine V3 controller model would you prefer?

Adata XPG unveils the Spectrix S65G RGB Gen 4 SSD

13 août 2025 à 09:30

Adata's gaming brand, XPG, has just unveiled its latest SSD, the Spectrix S65G RGB Gen 4. This new M.2 drive is aimed at gamers and builders who prioritise aesthetics, combining an RGB light strip and read speeds of 6,000 MB/s.

The standout feature of the S65G is its lighting. The drive features a large, exposed RGB light strip that runs along its length, diffused by an X-patterned light guide. XPG says the default effects are “slow-moving”, but the lighting is, of course, fully customisable and compatible with RGB sync software from all major motherboard manufacturers.

While the focus is clearly on looks, the drive still offers solid performance for a PCIe Gen4 drive. It is compliant with the NVMe 1.4 spec and is rated for sequential read and write speeds of up to 6,000MB/s and 5,000MB/s, respectively. Under the hood, it's a DRAM-less design with Host Memory Buffer (HMB) and an SLC cache to maintain performance during gaming and general use.

XPG is also marketing the Spectrix S65G as ready for the PlayStation 5, offering capacities up to 2TB to expand the console's storage. While its read speed comfortably exceeds Sony's requirements, users will likely need to install their own third-party M.2 heatsink to meet the console's installation guidelines, as the drive's built-in RGB component is not designed for heat dissipation. The drive is backed by a 5-year warranty and, like most modern Gen 4 SSDs, it includes LDPC error correction technology.

Helldivers 2 to get Halo crossover this month

13 août 2025 à 16:30

Sony is venturing further into multiplatform games by bringing its multiplayer hit, Helldivers 2, to Xbox consoles. The game lands on Xbox later this month, and it looks like it will include a Halo crossover.

In a new trailer for the Xbox version of the game, we hear part of the Halo ODST soundtrack playing out, hinting at a planned Halo crossover. It is unclear exactly what content would be included, but it will likely be some form of Spartan armour set.

Helldivers 2 players on Xbox will have a lot to catch up on too. Like Halo Infinite, battle passes in Helldivers 2 are permanent, so you can build up a collection of weapons and armour at your own pace, with all ‘FOMO' tactics removed. In Helldivers 2, all of the battle passes also remain available for sale permanently.

Helldivers 2 releases on Xbox Series X/S consoles on the 26th of August. There are no plans to include the game in the Xbox Game Pass service.

KitGuru Says: Helldivers 2 is a fantastic game. If Xbox is your main platform, and you enjoy shooters, this one gets my highest recommendation.

Capcom finally takes Monster Hunter Wilds performance seriously as sales dwindle

13 août 2025 à 15:30

Capcom recently confirmed that Monster Hunter Wilds has faced a severe sales drop-off after its launch in early 2025. The game has struggled to attract new players on PC in large part due to long-standing performance issues. Capcom has made a number of empty promises about improving technical performance and unfortunately, it doesn't sound like things are going to change anytime soon based on the latest statements.

The good news is, Capcom is finally starting to say something meaningful about optimisation. The bad news is that things won't change particularly fast, which indicates that this problem has been ignored for a long time.

In a Steam Community Update posted this week to the Monster Hunter Wilds page, game director, Yuya Tokuda, said that the development team is “carefully reviewing” the feedback from all of the negative Steam reviews and they are now “working hard to implement improvements”. However, the statement does also go on to warn that this will be a long process:

“We apologize for the time some improvements may take, but we are committed to delivering a more enjoyable and satisfying gaming experience, so we greatly appreciate your patience.”

In particular, the development team is looking to reduce CPU load in an effort to improve native frame rates. In this instance, native frame rate means the frame rate you have prior to any additional effects like Frame Generation. Monster Hunter Wilds has been widely criticised for relying on Frame Generation to achieve smooth frame rates.

CPU optimisations will begin to drop into the PC version of the game with Title Update 4, which arrives sometime this Winter. The development team also want to introduce additional GPU-bound optimisations as well.

In the meantime, those with the hardware needed to avoid performance pitfalls, will be able dive into expanded end-game content, including a set of new hunts for HR100 players and higher.

KitGuru Says: Performance does need to improve, especially if Capcom wants people to buy any kind of future expansion for this game.

Grand Theft Auto 6 won’t be delayed again

13 août 2025 à 14:15

While Grand Theft Auto 6 was originally supposed to release this year, the game was pushed back to May 2026 over the Spring. Due to the ambitious nature of Grand Theft Auto 6, many are anticipating a second delay, but Take-Two CEO, Strauss Zelnick, says that no such delay is being considered.

Speaking to CNBC (via Gamespot), Zelnick said that his “level of conviction is very high” when it comes to the new GTA 6 release date. Zelnick added that he tries “not to pump expectations” as Rockstar takes great pride in exceeding expectations, so he doesn't want to make that job any harder for them.

At this stage, Grand Theft Auto 6 is perhaps the most highly anticipated video game of all time. GTA V was one of the rare few titles to actively bring new people into gaming, rather than just serving the audience already there. The game sold hundreds of millions of copies, leading to high expectations for launch sales for GTA 6.

Many analysts predict that GTA 6 will generate billions of dollars in revenue at launch, beating out the biggest entertainment brands in both gaming and other forms of media.

Currently, Grand Theft Auto 6 has only been announced for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 consoles. The game will release on those platforms on May 26th 2026. A PC version is expected to arrive a year or two later.

KitGuru Says: Are you planning on picking up GTA 6 on console at launch, or will you be waiting for the PC version?

Drag x Drive Review – Far from Frictionless

13 août 2025 à 14:00

Drag x Drive

New Nintendo consoles tend to launch with a mix of heavy-hitters, like Mario and Zelda, and smaller, quirkier projects designed to show off the system’s unique features. So far, the Nintendo Switch 2 has offered plenty of the former with big games like Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza, but, surprisingly, not really any of those oddball experimental titles. That's about to change with the release of Drag x Drive, a sci-fi-flavored arcade sports game that closely resembles wheelchair basketball and makes use of the mouse functionality and motion controls of the new Joy-Con 2 controllers in ways only […]

inZOI officially announced for PS5; Xbox release currently “under consideration”

13 août 2025 à 13:00

While EA might be doing very little with The Sims IP, wanting to rest on its laurels with the now 10 year old SIms 4, other studios have come in to pick up the slack – with the Sims-like inZOI launching on Steam earlier this year to near-immediate sales success. Though currently still in Early Access, the team at inZOI Studio / Krafton have now confirmed that a PlayStation release is in the works (with an Xbox launch said to be “under consideration”).

Taking to Twitter to make the surprise announcement, the official ‘PlayinZOI’ page shared the following:

“We‘re excited to announce that inZOI is scheduled to launch on PlayStation 5 (PS5) in 2026. Our team is working hard to bring you the best possible experience on PS5.”

While the game has seen a bit of a mixed reception in recent months, inZOI managed to sell over 1 million copies in its first week on Steam, giving the team plenty of reasons to branch out to further platforms.

inZOI PlayStation

Interestingly however, an Xbox version may not come to pass, with the team stating that “An Xbox release is also under consideration, but not yet confirmed.”

Currently, it is unknown why the game may skip Xbox. In the past, we have seen some titles being delayed due to parity clauses regarding the lower-powered Xbox Series S. That said, it is also possible that the lesser market penetration of Xbox in general this generation is to blame for the current indecision.

inZOI is available to add to your PlayStation 5 wishlist right now.

KitGuru says: What do you think of inZOI so far? Will its PS5 launch coincide with the game’s 1.0 release? Why do you think the game could be skipping Xbox? Let us know down below.

LC-Power LC1200P2 V3.1 PSU Review

13 août 2025 à 12:17

Last week we reviewed the latest LC-Power LC1000P2 power supply, and today we look at the bigger 1200 watt version, the LC1200P2. While LC-Power as a brand won't immediately be recognised by enthusiasts in the same way as Corsair or Seasonic, they have been operating since 1996 so are clearly veterans of the industry. This unit is platinum rated, fully modular unit populated with high grade Japanese capacitors.

LC-Power are working with OEM manufacturer RSY, a partner company who have been around for some time and have developed power supplies for other brands such as Superflower, Enermax and even low end Seasonic units. Some of these we have reviewed in the past.

LC-Power are releasing three units in this Platinum category, the LC850P2 (850W), the LC1000P2 (1000W) and the LC1200P2 (1200W). All are backed with 10-year warranty coverage.

Key Features:

  • Fully modular – Allows clean cable management by connecting only the cables you need.
  • 80+ Platinum – Delivers reliable performance with minimal energy waste.

  • Silent 135mm FDB fan – Offers high airflow with low noise, even under sustained load.
  • Semi-passive cooling – Fan operates in zero-RPM mode during low to moderate loads for completely silent performance.
  • 10 years warranty – Ensures long-term peace of mind and product reliability.
  • Sleeved cables – Individually braided for flexibility, durability, and aesthetics.

Resident Evil Code Veronica and RE:0 remakes reportedly in the works

13 août 2025 à 12:00

Capcom has long been a fan of remaking its classic titles, with the Resident Evil series in particular seeing various remakes/re-imaginings over the years. Following the likes of RE2, 3 and 4, a known Capcom leaker has claimed that both RE: Code Veronica and RE:0 are next in line to get the remake treatment.

Taking to Twitter, known Resident Evil insider ‘Dusk Golem’ offered an update on Capcom’s current remake projects, claiming that:

“The next remakes are Resident Evil: Code Veronica & Resident Evil Zero. They should be releasing in 2027/2028, though I'm unclear this second which is coming out first & which second. But that's what I'd say to expect.”

For the uninitiated, Dusk Golem has consistently shared a ton of details surrounding Capcom and its RE titles, having leaked the likes of RE9, RE4, Dragon’s Dogma 2 and more ahead of their official announcements.

Code Veronica Remakes

As always, while this should still be taken with a pinch of salt, these two aforementioned remakes are likely to be next in line – after Resident Evil 9 of course.

Capcom recently shared updated sales data for its games, revealing that multiple Resident Evil titles have hit major new sales milestones, including RE7 (15.4 million); RE3 Remake (10.2 million) and Resident Evil 4 Remake (10.6 million).

As such, it makes sense that Capcom would want to reimagine more of its classic Resident Evil entries. That said, given that both Code Veronica and RE:0 are two of the franchise’s more forgotten entries, it will be interesting to see how fans react to their impending announcements – and whether either will manage to reach the heights of their contemporaries.

KitGuru says: Have you enjoyed Capcom’s RE Remakes? Which has been your favourite so far? Would you want Capcom to remake the original Resident Evil a second time? Let us know down below.

Resident Evil 7 officially sells over 15 million copies as MH: Wilds underperforms

13 août 2025 à 11:00

For the past decade or so, Capcom has been going from strength to strength, with a majority of their titles not only launching to high praise, but equally-high sales. Unlike most publishers, Capcom consistently releases their game sales data – providing up-to-date figures for all of its ‘Platinum Titles’ (games which have passed 1 million units in sales). As part of their latest report, multiple Resident Evil titles have been confirmed to have hit new major milestones.

Updating the Platinum Titles section on their Investor Relations site, Capcom has shared its latest sales data as of the 30th of June 2025, revealing that multiple Resident Evil titles have hit new milestones – specifically:

  • Resident Evil VII – 15.4M (an increase of 700k)
  • Resident Evil 4 Remake – 10.6M (an increase of 700k)
  • Resident Evil 3 Remake – 10.2M (an increase of 300K)

In addition, Resident Evil 5 and 6 are closing in on 10 million copies sold, with both titles currently sitting at 9.7 million (an increase of 100k units).

Resident Evil Capcom

Perhaps the most interesting sales data pertains to Monster Hunter Wilds. While the title had one of the biggest launches in the publisher’s history following its arrival earlier this year, sales seem to have fallen off a cliff, with Wilds selling just 400,000 units during the past Quarter – pushing total copies to 10.5 million.

Of course, 10 million units is nothing to sniff at, but given the fact that the last-gen Monster Hunter Rise sold an equal number of copies over the past few months (400k, bringing total sales to 17.5 million), it is clear that Capcom still has some work to do in order to ensure Monster Hunter Wilds becomes all that it was promised to be.

KitGuru says: What do you think of Monster Hunter Wilds? Have you gone back to Rise/World in the past few months? Will Wilds ever manage to reach the heights of its predecessors? Let us know down below.

ASRock X870 Livemixer WIFI Motherboard Review – Mixing All The Necessary Features With Good Pricing

12 août 2025 à 20:05

ASRock motherboard featuring Lindy design and advanced socket technology for efficient performance.

It's been three years since the AMD AM5 motherboard platform and the 600-series motherboards launched. Since its launch, the platform has seen the launch of several CPUs in the Ryzen 7000, Ryzen 8000, and Ryzen 9000 families. While the 600-series motherboards provide great features & compatibility with newer Zen 5 CPUs, motherboard makers are always looking to enhance user experiences through the latest technologies, so AMD has introduced a new chipset line called the 800-series. Now, AMD has introduced both X870 and B850 series chipsets for high-end and mainstream AM5 motherboards. Both of these chips provide brand-new designs and brand-new […]

AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D might have reached end-of-life

12 août 2025 à 18:30

The AMD Ryzen 7 5700X3D earned a reputation as one of the best value gaming CPUs of the AM4 era. However, according to a recent report, this CPU has now reached end-of-life status, meaning when current stocks run out, these CPUs will no longer be available.

Launched back in January 2024, the Ryzen 7 5700X3D was essentially a slightly downclocked version of the 5800X3D, offering the same eight cores and massive 96MB of L3 cache, but with a 400MHz lower boost clock speed. This small trade-off in frequency came with a significant price cut, often selling for around £200. After the original 5800X3D was discontinued, the 5700X3D became the last widely available X3D chip for the AM4 user base.

Unfortunately, according to Tweakers, it seems that's about to end. Recently, the price of the Ryzen 7 5700X3D has started to increase, leading some to wonder if something was happening in the background. Asking stores what was happening, Tweakers learned that the 5700X3D would be discontinued when the present stock runs out, since retailers are no longer able to order the CPU.

With the 5700X3D seemingly riding off into the sunset, gamers looking for the next great value V-Cache CPU will now have to look towards the AM5 platform, where a rumoured Ryzen 5 9600X3D is expected to arrive.

KitGuru says: Were you planning to get a Ryzen 7 5700X3D? If so, do it now, as they're still available. As things stand, it seems you won't get much longer to get it for a decent price.

Apple may launch new entry-level Macbook powered by A18 processor

12 août 2025 à 18:00

Rumours about a new entry-level MacBook that could shake up the laptop market are starting to emerge. Following earlier whispers of a more affordable model, a new report suggests this new MacBook could launch with a starting price ranging between $599 and $699, directly targeting the education-focused Chromebook market and creating a new, more accessible entry point into the Apple ecosystem.

While previous rumours pointed to a 13-inch screen, the new report from DigiTimes (via MacRumours) suggests a more specific 12.9-inch display. Interestingly, this is the exact diagonal measurement as the larger iPad Pro models (4:3 aspect ratio). However, this new MacBook is expected to adopt the more traditional 16:10 aspect ratio standard for Apple's laptops.

This would make it slightly smaller than the current 13.6-inch MacBook Air but still a notable increase over the 12-inch MacBook that was discontinued in 2017. Under the hood, the device is rumoured to be powered by the A18 Pro chip, the same processor expected to be in the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro.

According to the same report, this new MacBook is expected to enter mass production by the end of Q3 2025. This timeline could point to a launch as early as October, a month in which Apple has frequently held Mac-focused events. On the other hand, a debut in early 2026 would align with Apple's typical release window for its more affordable devices.

KitGuru says: If these rumours pan out, this $699 MacBook could be a game-changer, giving Apple a powerful new weapon to get market share in the budget-conscious consumer space.

Nvidia introduces RTX Pro 4000 SFF and RTX Pro 2000 for entry-level workstations

12 août 2025 à 17:30

Nvidia has announced two new additions to its RTX Pro graphics card lineup. The new RTX Pro 4000 SFF and RTX Pro 2000 are designed to bring the architecture's AI and graphics performance to more mainstream and small form factor workstations, all while keeping power consumption in check.

Starting with the RTX Pro 4000 Blackwell SFF, Nvidia is claiming it offers more than double the AI performance of its predecessor, the RTX A4000 SFF, delivering 770 AI TOPS. This is backed by 24GB of ECC GDDR7 memory, all while consuming just 70W, making it ideal for space-constrained systems.

Slotting in below it is the new RTX Pro 2000. This card also operates within a 70W TGP and is equipped with 16GB of ECC GDDR7 memory. Nvidia is positioning this GPU for mainstream CAD, 3D modelling, and entry-level AI workloads, claiming it is around 1.5 times faster than the RTX A2000. Videocardz reports that the RTX Pro 2000 will have 4,352 CUDA cores while the RTX Pro 4000 SFF will have 8960 CUDA cores.

Pricing information has not yet been released and will likely be announced by partners closer to launch. Both cards are expected to become available later this year to OEMs, but the RTX Pro 2000 will also be available in the DIY market.

Remedy gives update on Control 2 and Max Payne remakes

12 août 2025 à 17:00

Remedy Entertainment has given an update on its many projects. As expected, the launch of FBC: Firebreak did not succeed commercially, however, other games like Control have reached new milestones. On top of that, we have news on Control 2 and the Max Payne remakes.

As part of its most recent investors update,  Remedy confirmed that the recent launch of FBC: Firebreak, the studio's very first multiplayer game, did not succeed commercially. The game's growth was primarily driven by Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus, leaving Remedy unsatisfied with the consumer sales figures. The writing was already on the wall for this one, as Remedy had already acknowledged the game's bad first impression.

While FBC: Firebreak has been a low point, Remedy's 2019 action hit, Control, has now surpassed 5 million copies sold. Development on Control 2 also remains on track, with the developers now focused on meeting milestones for gameplay, environments and missions. Essentially, the game is deep into the production cycle, but there is still no release date yet.

Max Payne 1 & 2 remake also “remains in full production” and Remedy says its ongoing collaboration with Rockstar for this project “remains close and productive”. Outside of that though, there is not much more to say.

Despite FBC: Firebreak struggling commercially and other projects remaining in deep development, Remedy still expects to see an operating profit increase in 2025.

KitGuru Says: I've been replaying Control recently.  It is still one of my favourite games. If you've never played it, be sure to pick it up on a sale at some point.
