Samsung Announces the Galaxy S25 FE and Latest Galaxy Tablets

4 septembre 2025 à 11:30

It's time for Samsung's B-team Galaxy devices – the company has officially announced its new budget smartphone, the Galaxy S25 FE, and its latest and greatest tablet, the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra. The two devices are available today from Samsung's website, starting at $649.99 and $1,199.99, respectively.

The new Galaxy S25 FE is all-around the same phone as the S24 FE, with 8GB of RAM, 128GB or 256GB of storage, a 6.7-inch, 120HZ OLED display, and the same 50MP main, 12MP ultra-wide, and 8MP telephoto camera specs; but there are some tweaks to the formula. For instance, the S25 FE's front-facing selfie camera is now 12MP instead of 10MP.

Battery capacity is up (4,900mAh, up from 4,700mAh) and it now supports 45W wired charging rather than 25W. The company doesn't say whether the phone features built-in magnetic Qi2 charging, but it would be weird if it did, considering the mainline Galaxy S25 phones don't either – but traditional wireless charging is, you know, still there. It has an Exynos 2400 chip versus the 2400e before.

Oh, and say goodbye to the pastel green and blue colors of the S24 FE. This year's phones come in dark gray, white, navy blue, and an "Icy Blue" color that, based on the images Samsung shared with IGN, really looks like a timid, barely-there lavender.

The Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra is likewise a minor spec bump, with a MediaTek Dimensity 9400 Plus chip (versus the 9300 Plus in the S10 Ultra), the same 14.6-inch, 120Hz AMOLED display that peaks at 1,600 nits. Memory and storage are unchanged versus last year: It gets 12GB RAM for the 256GB and 512GB storage tiers, and 16GB of RAM for the 1TB tier. Expandable storage is a little more generous, though – now you can use up to a 2TB microSD card instead of 1.5TB. Finally, battery capacity is up a tad at 11,600mAh, versus 11,200mAh last year.

The one big change is that instead of a follow-up to the 12.4-inch Galaxy Tab S10 Plus, the company has announced the Tab S11. It's a cheaper entry-level option than the S10 Plus, starting at $799.99, but it has a smaller, 11-inch, 120Hz AMOLED display with 1,000-nit brightness (up to 1,600 at its peak). The S11 comes with 12GB RAM, with storage ranging from 128GB to 512GB, expandable via microSD to up to 2TB. Battery capacity for the entry-level S11 is 8,400mAh, and the device supports 45W wired charging. Both the S11 and the S11 Ultra come in gray and silver colorways.

Based on what Samsung announced today, the S25 FE still won't be the top budget Android phone you can get; it still has the much cheaper, $499 Pixel 9a to compete with, after all. But Samsung does make solid Android tablets, and the new Tab S11 options should keep that going. Shame about the missing 12.4-inch option; but hey, smaller tablets can be nice, too, and so can lower prices.

South Park Sees Crazed Kids Doing Things With Labubus They Really Shouldn't and Satan's Relationship With Trump Take a Shocking Twist in New Episode

4 septembre 2025 à 11:12

South Park has continued its assault on Donald Trump in its latest episode, ending on a shock development for the U.S. president’s relationship with Satan.

Warning! Spoilers for South Park Season 27 Episode 4 follow:

This week (South Park is on a bi-weekly schedule now), we see the Labubu craze hit South Park Elementary. Labubus, for the uninitiated, are a line of collectible plush toys created by Hong Kong illustrator Kasing Lung and typically sold in blind boxes. They have taken the world by storm, with interest — as any parent’s wallet will probably attest — peaking over the summer amid a surge on social media platforms such as TikTok.

In South Park we see the kids accusing each other’s Labubus of being fake (yes, this will probably hit home for any parent of young children watching). Fake Labubus, dubbed Lafufus in the real world, are becoming a big part of the playground banter for all the frustrating reasons you’d imagine. A bemused Jesus Christ is brought in as school counselor to sort the fighting out.

Jesus meet Labubu. Labubu meet Jesus. pic.twitter.com/0m2451t3Jk

— South Park (@SouthPark) September 4, 2025

Red asks Butters to hang out with her on her birthday, but asks him to buy her a specific, rare Labubu as a present. Butters learns all about Trump’s tariffs as he hunts the Labubu down in an Asian restaurant converted into an opportunistic Asian pop up store. A blind box costs $85, which Butters doesn’t seem thrilled about. The price hike is due to tariffs, he’s told. That cost is being passed on to the customer! Of course, the Labubu in the blind box isn’t the right one, forcing Butters to roll the dice once again. The U.S. government is blamed for the high cost, he’s told.

Butters experiences the reality of tariffs when he has to buy a Labubu doll for his girlfriend’s birthday in an all-new episode tonight, September 3 at 10/9c on Comedy Central and tomorrow on Paramount+. pic.twitter.com/P5xtAARbvv

— South Park (@SouthPark) September 3, 2025

Meanwhile, Trump-obsessed Fox News is trying to work out the nature of the President’s relationship with Satan. “We’re just sort of hanging out,” the Prince of Darkness tells the gaggle of reporters outside Air Force One.

It’s the question on everyone’s mind! pic.twitter.com/9ZYTpSeTwa

— South Park (@SouthPark) September 4, 2025

Back at South Park Elementary, Jesus is still trying to wrap his head around the Labubu craze and why the kids are fighting over them. A TikTok unboxing video from one of the students explains all, but then things take a darker turn as we see the student use the Labubu to perform a satanic ritual, complete with vomited chicken blood, to bring the Labubu to life. “Labubus are demonic,” Jesus is told.

Butters uses a claw machine to win the ultra rare Labubu Red wants, and gives it to her at her birthday party. She uses it to perform a ritual, accidentally summoning Trump and Satan. Jesus, desperate to put an end to the demonic tyranny of the Labubus, arrives on the scene. Jesus tells Satan to leave Earth, but Satan can’t. He’d love to leave Trump, he says, but he’s “bound to him.”

Then, the shocking reveal: Satan can’t leave Trump because he’s pregnant. “Yes, we’re together. We’ve been together for months. And I want to leave him, but I can’t,” Satan declares, “because I’m pregnant. So now you all know. I am forced to stay in this situation for several more years.” Yes, Satan is having Trump’s “butt baby.”

This season's South Park episodes have so far skipped a week, with reports indicating the show's bi-weekly release schedule will remain in place for the rest of Season 27.

The latest run of South Park episodes, which are currently airing on Comedy Central and Paramount+, have drawn some of the series' best-ever ratings, as well as global attention, for their no-holds-barred depiction of President Trump. But episodes are taking longer to produce, with just four arriving in the eight weeks since Season 27's debut.

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone make each episode week-by-week, which makes for a chaotic production but topical shows. The elongated production time allows the pair more time to work on each episode, something Paramount is reportedly happy with.

It’s worth noting that during their San Diego Comic-Con 2025 panel, which took place the day after the Trump-skewering season opener aired, Parker said the pair were unsure what the next episode would be, revealing the decision was “super stressful.”

All eyes are on South Park after its Season 27 premiere went so hard on Trump that the White House issued a statement in response.

The F.C.C. recently approved Skydance’s $8 billion merger with Paramount, which had needed Trump administration approval. However, Parker and Stone have a big-money deal of their own: a reported $1.5 billion contract to make 50 episodes of South Park over five years for Paramount.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Reboot 'Not Just Revisiting the Past' But Will Honor Show's Original DNA, Sarah Michelle Gellar Says

4 septembre 2025 à 09:34

Buffy the Vampire Slayer herself, Sarah Michelle Gellar, has said that the series' upcoming reboot will be more than just a means to revisit the past, while emphasizing that the fresh project will still honor the original show.

Speaking to IGN, Gellar said that the Buffy revival would be "meaningful" to fans of the original who loved its focus on found family — which, back in the day, meant Buffy's loyal group of friends.

The upcoming Buffy reboot introduces a new Slayer, played by Star Wars: Skeleton Crew's Ryan Kiera Armstrong, and a new cast of characters that include a fresh batch of high school classmates. Gellar herself, however, will still appear in a recurring role, including within the show's pilot episode, and act as an executive producer.

"Fandoms like Buffy still resonate today — because it’s not just about the show, but about the community that’s grown around it," Gellar told IGN.

"For me, the heart of Buffy was always about found family — that sense of belonging and being loved for who you are — and that’s more important now than ever. That’s what makes this new chapter so meaningful, it’s not just revisiting the past but honoring the show’s original DNA. The fact that people still carry such love for the show after all these years is incredibly special."

Alongside work on the new Buffy reboot pilot, filming of which is now underway, Gellar is currently overseeing another 90s revival, eBay '95, a 1990s-themed eBay sale event for the online auction site's 30th birthday this week. Her partnership involves curating a list of the 30 sought-after collector's items from the decade, with all proceeds benefiting Make-A-Wish.

Items in the list include a 1999 Charizard Holo 1st Edition Shadowless Pokémon Trading Card, a Red Card Wave Luke Skywalker Jedi Brown figurine, a Spider-Man #1 Gold Torment Variant comic signed by Stan Lee and Todd McFarlane, and a LEGO Black Knight Dungeon Master's Castle set.

"Everyone is passionate about something, maybe it’s LEGO, trading cards, or comic books, and all of these things still bring people joy," Gellar said of the auction. "And at the heart of it, that’s what fandom really is – finding a community of people who love the same things you do. Pairing this curation with Make-A-Wish, a charity so close to my heart, made it a no-brainer."

Gellar told IGN she was "sworn to secrecy" on further details of the new Buffy series, a sentiment she continued in a fresh post on Instagram sharing a handful of new behind the scenes photos from the pilot episode's production. The images show Gellar with the series' direct Chloé Zhao, as well as the actress holding an original Buffy the Vampire Slayer figurine (speaking of, Gellar has signed another figurine, and a Buffy Funko Pop, as part of the auction).

The images also show a note from Zhao to the reboot's pilot's cast, shared on what looks to be a call sheet for the shoot's first day of filming.

"Let's embark on this adventure together with joy, empathy, curiosity and respect," Zhao wrote. "Life is both beautiful and difficult. We will be rewarded and tested. We will be brave. We will live to the fullest and know that we are never alone. We will always have each other. Happy first day! Chloé."

The new Buffy reboot is being produced by Hulu, which is yet to formally announce if the pilot will be picked up for a full series. If it does, the series is expected set to go into full production next spring. For now, there's no word yet on any further returning characters other than Buffy herself, but Gellar has previously said she hopes to see other classic characters return. Indeed, Buffy actress Charisma Carpenter has already told IGN she'd be keen to appear, after an "unjust" end to her character on spin-off Angel.

In retro news, I'm using a flaming grenade to light a 12-candle cake baked for Killzone: Mercenary, the 2013 FPS that brought the Helghast war to PS Vita. This was no half-hearted spin-off either. At the time, it felt like a full console-grade shooter shrunk down to fit in my hands, complete with weighty weapons, sharp visuals, and a clever mercenary angle (letting you earn cash and upgrade your kit across solo and multi). Underrated and, I daresay, never to be remastered.

Nice Savings for Nintendo Switch

On Switch, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe still reigns supreme as the racer that defined a generation. Nintendo revealed its original prototype ran with two screens in development, a leftover idea from the DS era. Meanwhile, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has hidden character dialogue that only appears if you hack villagers into moving to your island out of sequence. Both are still timeless mood pieces.

The Lokithor J400 Cordless Car Jump Starter Drops to Under $35 at Amazon (Over 60% Off)

4 septembre 2025 à 00:40

A jump starter is an essential part of car's emergency kit and you don't need to pay a premium for a cordless model that gets the job done reliably. Amazon is currently offering the Lokithor J400 12V 2,000A cordless car jump starter for just $33.97 shipped after you clip both $20 and 40% off coupons on the product page. Not only does it function as a car jump starter, it can also be used as a power bank to recharge your smartphone in a pinch.

Lokithor J400 12V 2,000A Car Jump Starter for $33.97

The Lokithor J400 is a compact 12V cordless car jump starter that can supply 2,000A of peak power and is capable of jump starting up to 8L gas or 6L diesel engines. The sizeable 8,000mAh battery will give you several jump starts before needing a recharge. Since the battery uses lithium (NMC) cells, it depletes a lot slower than your traditional battery and will retain most of its charge even after 24 months of non-use. The J400 also doubles as a portable power bank, so you can also use it to charge your iPhone or smartphone in a pinch.

The J400 charges quickly over USB Type-C and if you don't have a cable on hand, both USB Type-C to Tpe-C and USB Type-A to Type-C cables are supplied in the package. There's even a flashlight with three separate modes (flashlight, SOS, and strobe) for emergencies. The jump starter is one of the smallest models in its class (3.4" x 6.9" x 1.7"), weighs about 1.5 pounds, and stows away easily in your trunk or dash.

PS5 Headsets Just Got Better for PC Gamers Thanks to PlayStation Link Software Update

4 septembre 2025 à 00:08

Thanks to new Windows 10 and 11 software for PlayStation 5 audio devices like the Pulse Elite headset and Pulse Explore earbuds, you can now get their full range of functionality when using them on PC. This is particularly handy for those who game on both the PS5 and PC, as these first-party are some of the best PS5 headsets around and are now essentially cross-platform devices through the PlayStation Link PC driver.

While these devices worked on PC before, they didn't have proper software support which limited their versatility. Per the official PlayStation support page, the driver will automatically install when you connect the PS Link USB adapter. The new PS Link driver isn't as robust as apps you'll see for new Razer headsets or SteelSeries earbuds, for example, but it's an upgrade from previously having no PC software support. With the PS Link PC driver, you can manually adjust volume on the OS, toggle your microphone and adjust the sidetone mic feedback volume, switch EQ presets, and update the device's firmware if needed. You can also monitor battery life through the driver.

The biggest addition here is being able to swap audio profiles through the EQ presets, so you can customize your sound experience and get more out of the headset and/or earbuds. The standard setting offers a balanced and flat sound experience, but you can adjust frequencies to boost bass and/or lower treble, for example.

If you're considering getting new audio gear in light of this update, be sure to check out our reviews of the Pulse Elite headset and Pulse Explore earbuds, or check out our roundup of the best PS5 headsets we've tested. And in case you missed it, catch up on the latest State of Play stream that centered around the upcoming James Bond game 007: First Light.
